What’s Changed?
- Bear caves and wolf dens removed: Predators will no longer spawn from static locations on the map. Instead, like raiders, they will attack the village at set intervals from outside the map.
- Predator Attacks: Wolves and bears will now attack the village periodically. For the first 3 years, villages will be protected from these attacks. After that, attacks will occur every 2-4 years. However, these attacks can be completely prevented. if the village is fully surrounded by walls, predator attacks will cease entirely.
Why This Change?
Previously, bear caves and wolf dens spawned in specific locations on the map. If players destroyed them, predator attacks would stop permanently. If no caves or dens were near the settlement, wolves and bears would never attack, even after many hours of gameplay. Additionally, when raider invasions were disabled in the settings, walls became nearly useless.
With this update, predator attacks function similarly to raider attacks. This ensures that they occur more consistently, making them a guaranteed event in every game. It also preserves the importance of building walls, even in games where raiders are disabled. Furthermore, this change prevents players from being forced to settle in inefficient locations just to avoid predator spawn points.
In the previous version, if players disabled bear caves and wolf dens while creating a new game, they couldn’t enable them later. Now, in this new version, players can enable predator attacks at any time, even if they were initially turned off.
I guess that some players may have found bear caves and wolf dens more meaningful. In the future, I might consider a balanced system that includes both static spawn points and periodic predator events.
What’s Next?
Apart from hotfixes, future updates will focus on mostly new content. My primary focus for the next update is bridges. Unless an urgent issue or request comes up, I plan to introduce bridges to the game.
See you in the next update, enjoy the game!
