Order of the Seekers report on the events in New Fuji:
According to our agents, Aris has sent Scavengers to New Fuji, a city in southeastern Europe where the Sinto corporation built an underground laboratory right under its own residential neighbourhoods in the last century. It is said that Sinto once built a settlement here for its employees because of the strong similarity of the local nature to the Japanese countryside. They needed the lab because the corporation’s agents managed to get hold of the wreckage of an alien ship, in which they found a unique energy module — an unknown crystal capable of storing and generating huge amounts of energy.
There is evidence that the module’s potential turned out to be incredible: it could be used as an inexhaustible source of energy or as an extremely destructive weapon. For years, Sinto engineers tried to understand its nature and eventually connected it to the largest communications tower in New Fuji, which was to serve as the module’s transmitter and energy converter. The Syndicate, however, was hesitant to activate the crystal for a long time, fearing the devastating consequences.
But when the Scavengers invaded their lands with an army of battle walkers to take the crystal, there was no choice. Sinto engineers set up hardware and activated the module to create an energy field that would protect their facilities and territories.
The activation was indeed catastrophic: along with the creation of a few force fields, the module caused a devastating storm of electromagnetic energy that still rages in some areas around the tower. The laboratory was destroyed, but part of the surrounding territory remained protected by the energy field, preventing total destruction.
Rumours of the module’s limitless capabilities quickly spread across the Wasteland. The Scavengers and the Syndicate were not the only ones to learn about the inexhaustible source of energy, and the once quiet city became a battleground.
