Over the last few days we’ve had a few reports of progression blockers we’d like to provide updates on.
Incident Recap
- March 5th: We started getting reports that some players were falling through world maps, most of these reports were from The Watch.
- March 8th: We pushed a backend update to the servers that would detect if players were in this falling state when loading back in, and if they were deemed to be under the map, the game would force them back into their Respite Abeyance Realm.
- March 9th: Approximately at 3:00 am MT we started getting reports that some players’ Realms seemed like they were being reset. Out of an abundance of caution, we removed the server change from the day before. After further investigation, it was deemed that the server change was not a direct cause of this issue, but as higher volumes of people were getting funneled back to their Respite, it meant more people were encountering the problem. We attempted a server change and started Respite Realm rollback requests, but we later discovered the server change was not enough to solve the issue so additional hotfixes were investigated.
- March 10th: We pushed a game update so servers would do additional data checks before players enter a Realm. If there was a larger data discrepancy than expected, would abort loading and disconnect. If this happens, players should try to load in again. This prevented save data from being automatically overwritten in an incomplete state, but it meant that players were more likely to encounter Travel Errors.
Current Status
- Since the emergency patch on March 10th, we have not seen any confirmed reports of players experiencing a Realm reset with valid save files after the update.
- We are continuing to track down the root issue so that we can fully address these cases that now result in a Travel Error.
- We have applied rollbacks to all those who asked for one up to 4:00pm MT on March 11.
- The issues of some players falling at The Watch are outstanding. We will be re-applying the March 8th server change as soon as possible as the new data checks are in place.
- Additional concerns or reports, such as, but not limited to, invisible walls and inconsistent build limits, are still a WIP as these are separate considerations.
Please note that if you have not logged in since 4:00pm MT on March 10th, please check if your Realm was affected before the patch.
If you have logged in as of 6:00pm MT on March 11 and your Respite Realm has been reset or a rollback request failed, please submit (or re-submit) the following form: https://forms.gle/RsDFmr2HkSH1MxWP8
Please include the following details in the notes:
- When was the last time your Respite Realm was in a good state (not reset)?
- Have you previously submitted a reset request?
- Did you have more than one Abeyance Realm?
If you share a Respite Realm with others, only one submission from your group is needed.
Once you have placed a reset request, please do not log into the character until we share the next rollback wave has been completed on our social channels (listed here).
We continue to investigate additional long-term fixes and additional updates.
Thank you for your patience and apologize again to all those affected.
