Welcome back survivors,
I hope you held your ground in Vegas as the battle raged on. Once again, I want to thank all of you for joining last week’s playtest. I was able to gather some very useful information that’ll definitely be of help when we move into Early Access on March 11th.
Today, I’m getting into some of the nitty gritty details behind Hellbreach. I’ll be deep diving into one of the most important aspects to keep in mind while working on an FPS: the weapons!
In this blog, I want to give you a short showcase of how I tune your guns.
There are various values I’ve decided to tune the guns for:
- Type
- Fire rate
- Damage
- Reload Speed
- Recoil
- Ammo Capacity
For the sake of brevity, I won’t be able to cover all guns in this blog, sadly. Instead, I’ll be covering some community favourites: the AK-47, the Mosin, and the M4!
So Let’s Analyse!
High Risk, High Reward
While the Mosin may be tougher to use in dangerous situations - like, say, while you’re backed into a corner - it has high damage and a high bonus rewards for the kill shot. If used well, it’ll keep you in the running for most points obtained in a match.
The Devil is in the Details
The M4 and the AK-47 may be very similar to each other in gunplay and stats, but the devil is in the details. If you look at the stats, you’ll soon realise the M4 is the superior gun in Hellbreach: Vegas. Where the AK-47 may serve as ol’ reliable for many thanks to their Counter Strike days, the M4 is faster, reloads quicker, has less recoil and offers a higher money reward as a cherry on top in Hellbreach. However, the ammo capacity is lower! So what will you do? Will you go for the extra ammo and the lower price-tag of the AK-47? Or will you start experimenting more with the M4?
The Meta
Metas are a fickle thing and often just a matter of player preference. As I highlighted before, the Mosin is a gun that will leave you in the race for most points, and in our latest playtest we even learned about some new approaches with SMG’s… Yet, I’ve noticed that most people still try their luck on the Win a Weapon machine to get the minigun for example, because it’s known to be more versatile in tight spots due to its many bullets and high ammo count ([strike]Maybe an interesting one to analyze next time?[/strike]).
So, what is your Meta?
I hope you found this interesting! Let us know if you’d be interested in getting more of these detailed weapon stats!
And finally, I’ll leave you with some burning questions that have been on my mind for a while:
What’s your favourite gun?
What gun did you get the furthest with?
Drop your answers in the comments below or on the Hellbreach Discord!
See you in Vegas!
