The Origins of Hellbreach: Vegas
Introduction
Welcome to the first installment of our blog series on the making of Hellbreach: Vegas. Here you will be able to find firsthand insights from the lead developer of the game himself, Ash. In this blog, we'll explore the origins of the game and the inspiration behind it.To start this series, it feels appropriate to first start with a picture of the man behind it all!
Ash:
As a designer, I've always aspired to create immersive and engaging games. That's why, two and a half years ago, I embarked on a journey to create my first game, Hellbreach: Vegas. It was a daunting task, but I was driven by my love of gaming and my desire to create a game that I would love to play. The inspiration for Hellbreach: Vegas came from my love of arcade-style shooters like COD zombies, Killing Floor, and Doom. I wanted to create a game that paid homage to these classics while also bringing a fresh perspective to the genre. I spent countless hours brainstorming ideas, designing characters, and developing gameplay mechanics.
But game development is not just about coding and programming. It's about storytelling, creating engaging gameplay, and crafting an immersive world for players to explore. I had to learn how to design levels, create enemies and AI, and create engaging and challenging gameplay mechanics. It was a challenging and rewarding experience that pushed me to learn and grow as a developer.
As the months went by, I faced countless challenges and setbacks. There were times when I thought I would never finish the game, that I would never be able to create the game I had envisioned. But I persevered, and after two and a half long years of hard work, Hellbreach: Vegas is finally on its way to completion.
Launching a game is a nerve-wracking experience, and I'm still in the process of preparing Hellbreach: Vegas for release later this year. I'm excited to share my creation with the world, but also nervous about how it will be received.
Looking back on my journey as a game developer, I can't help but feel grateful for the experiences and challenges that have led me to where I am today. Making a game is a long and challenging process, but it is also one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had.
As I continue to create games, I'm reminded of the importance of passion, dedication, and perseverance. Game development is not just a job, but a calling, a passion that drives us to create something exciting. And for me, that passion started with a simple question: could I create a game that I wanted to play? The answer, as it turns out, is yes, and I can't wait to share Hellbreach: Vegas with the world.
