Ever wondered what happens if you surf away from X-Isle off into the sunset? This guide won’t answer that question but introduces the core trio of activities across X-Isle – hunting, looting, and exploration!
EMBRACE THE HUNT
From hordes of Disciples to rival Renegades, there’s no shortage of targets to keep in your crosshairs or ways to wreak havoc. Whether you’re tackling a Contract, racking up kills or thinning out the competition until it’s just you and the Artifact, you can spend your time hunting down targets or waiting at strategic locations to launch the perfect ambush.
No matter how you plan to shoot your shot, the right weapons for the task will up your chances. Crack open loot crates to find new weapons and upgrades, or spend your CRED to jazz up your arsenal at Extraction Points. Take a high vantage point and wait for a clear shot with the sniper rifle, get up close and personal to deal hits from the hammer, or dish out classic firepower with an assault rifle. The weapons you find will determine your best strategy to action.
PURSUIT THE LOOT
Sure, Artifacts are great. They grant neat powers and can earn you a pretty Hawk or two. But there’s more loot to X-Isle than that! Treasures and Trinkets are tucked away in every corner, buried in stashes, and hidden on the shelves of huts or the sidelines of Encounters. Seek, and you shall find them. You can’t carry them all due to limited space in your Backpack, but you can extract what Trinkets you can manage at various Extraction Points across X-Isle, then keep looting and piling up the Hawks and Wonderium without firing a single bullet.
Even so, it’s a good idea to fix up your Loadout with defensive Boosters and Gear that grant extra Health or supplies when you need them. Other Renegades might be planning an aggressive play, and a heavy Backpack makes for a prime target.
EXPLORE FOR LORE
Judging by the abundance of ancient temples, hidden treasures, and vicious Disciples, X-Isle’s history has still been ticking along despite centuries obscured by a deadly storm. On every hunt, Renegades can explore the island to find Encounters that unlock powerful boon-granting Glyphs when completed. Five Glyphs will then combine to form the cipher you need to enter the Treasury and claim the ultimate prize: an Artifact.
X-Isle is a vast island, and you’ll often find yourself in new corners of the map. Each has unique locations and different biomes, so it’ll take a few adventures and flights of discovery to truly get the lay of the land and the ancient culture that inhabited it. The clues are sprawled across X-Isle, waiting for you to discover and piece together its history.
Know your way around X-Isle, and you’ll know your way around escape routes, vantage points, hidden areas, and all the advantages they bring to traverse the island and seize victory. And that’s not to mention the unmarked secrets dotted around. Take the time to get to know the island, and you’ll be returning to the Riftwake with quite a few stories to tell!
