News Liste HELL GALAXY
Welcome to the fourth dev diary dedicated to delving into the most important aspects of Hell Galaxy.
Today, we want to talk about some of the raider environments in the Galaxy of Neterun, particularly the space stations. As usual, all the images we show you are concepts or works in progress.
There is no doubt that the colonists left their mark once they arrived in Neterun by creating their own facilities. Their primary need was to build structures that would interface with their new raider form and be useful for bio-machine hybrids. From this perspective, the most important structures in the raider landscape are the space stations, which serve as hubs where the raiders can shelter, develop, transmit important communications, and more.
Since the drones that built the stations were programmed by raiders (and some were raiders themselves), we wondered what machine-like minds could design. The raiders' minds are fragmented and broken, so we came up with an equally fragmented aesthetic, made of broken parts, recycled components, sharp metal, motorized parts, and needles. These structures were constructed as best as they could be, almost as if in a post-apocalyptic space.
What can the raiders imagine? How deeply has metal penetrated the recesses of their minds? We envisioned our raiders having flashes of their previous human condition and the last things they saw while they were alive. However, we also wanted these fragmented memories to be somewhat distorted in their present condition. It was on this basis that we imagined their space stations and landing strips.
Many structures were also built based on the raiders' most vivid memory: the moment of Extraction. The procedure is violent, mechanical, and cold. It is a process comparable to the construction of an industrial machine, with the difference that our machine feels pain, bewilderment, and fear in the face of the Extractor, the one who performs the actual extraction. We also conceptualized our structures based on the fears that the raiders feel at the moment of their birth.
Cables, metal, needles, a robotic vision: this is what a raider experiences, a distorted, metallic imagination reflected in every structure created by our bio-machine hybrids.
And that's all for today. We hope we have sparked your curiosity with this new dev diary, and we look forward to the next one!
Farewell, raiders!
