We’re back with another development update for Winter Survival. In our last episode, we’ve presented animals that you’ll be able to encounter once Winter Survival launches. If you still didn’t manage to check it out, feel free to do so by clicking this link.
In today’s devlog, we’ll delve into one of the most requested features since we launched Winter Survival: Prologue – Building. We will cover everything from concept art up to some gifs which should give you a glimpse on how Building will look like in Winter Survival. In addition to that, we’ll share some funny moments that we’ve encountered, especially during the testing stage, and I highly advise you to read till the end, as we might have a sneak peek for you. Without further ado, let’s jump into the first section – concept art.
Concept Art ????️
Before diving into the nitty-gritty of the actual development, we kicked off the process with a series of captivating concept art. These artworks provided us with a visual direction for the building’s textures and models. We’re happy to share them with you all right now, and as always make sure to leave your thoughts in the comments below.
In-Game Footage
After finalizing the concept art, we dived into translating these visions into the game's actual assets. The process of creating meshes and textures was meticulous and detailed, as we aimed to capture the essence of survival.
As you progress through the game and find better resources, you’ll be able to upgrade your shelter. This will enhance its durability and cold protection which is a crucial thing in order to survive out in the wilderness. It still requires some additional polish from our team though, but we're getting closer and closer to the finish line with the building system.
How it all started ????
Looking back at the initial stages of the building system's development, it's really good to see the progress we've made so far.
What started as a simple system with no textures at all, has now evolved into a complex system which allows you to build your own shelter wherever you are.
How it’s going ????
As soon as we’ve managed to add the textures that our 3D team has prepared, everything started coming to life. But the best part is that the only limitation you have, is your own creativity and imagination, so we cannot wait to see your creations when the game launches.
However, please keep in mind that this is still a work-in-progress, so all the things that you see might still differ from the final version of the product. Also, don’t hesitate to throw your feedback at us regarding the building system – this is something that we want to put emphasis on, so the better feedback we can gather, the better the system will be.

Who doesn’t like to see a good, old timelapse, right? Well, we thought the same, as we really wanted to capture the essence of our building system.
As you can see above, what might start as a simple shelter with just some plain walls and roof on top of it, may as well evolve into something of a bigger scale.
Funny moments ????
Game Development isn't all serious business! We've had our fair share of humorous moments along the way. From playing Fortnite in Winter Survival, to recreating our own office – these moments have kept our team laughing even during the most challenging times. It's a reminder that game development is a mix of creativity, technical hurdles, and the unexpected - and we cherish every amusing moment.

Surviving in the harsh winter is a challenge on its own, but we're thrilled to tease an upcoming devlog that will delve into a formidable adversary in our game: the bear.
