Greetings, Void Hunters!
Welcome to the second Soulstone Survivors devlog of 2025! While we continue to work on some HUGE features in the background, we are also fine-tuning some of the ascensions that you’ve given feedback on. Back in devlog #11 we shared some early work-in-progress preview on it and today we are happy to share a sneak peak of a much more polished iteration of the new ascension gameplay.
Hound Master’s Ascension
We’ve mentioned before that we wanted to make Hound Master’s dogs a main part of his ascension, making it more visually interesting and exciting to play with. We’ve already shared some screenshots and details on how that would look like in game. Today, we are ready to share some actual footage of its new and improved gameplay:

As you can see, the doggies are now MUCH more expressive in showing their power. They now grow in size quite a bit and also glow in different colors when they gain a new level. While it gets harder and harder to maintain their power level with each upgrade, their buffs get exponentially stronger, so they can truly destroy everything. It continues to be a relatively low-effort ascension, but now with possibly huge rewards!
In the end we were able to honor the memory of our very own doggo, Zippie, in a very cool way. Rest in Peace, Zippie.
Legionnaire’s Ascension
In a very similar fashion, we previously discussed how and why we were going to change the Legionnaire’s Ascension. While we liked its idea, it always lacked some… punch. Now instead of building catapults, through your bravery in battle, you can be promoted to Centurion, calling the full support of your legion with powerful bonuses! Here’s how that looks like in game:

Once you have patched up your fellow wounded soldiers, they will fight by your side until the bitter end. If you manage to save enough soldiers to have yourself a small army, the powers of a true spartan leader show, turning the skies blood-red, tinted with the rage of your legions. While active, your legion becomes a force to be reckoned with!
Community Skins
We’ve recently announced an early access to our new Community Skins feature! It’s been out for a couple of weeks now and we’ve already got over two dozen awesome skins of all kinds, from wizards to legendary medieval warriors, from dual-pistols to a pear-on-a-fork (that’s right!), crafted by our community. Check them out in our mod.io page
You can play with them right now by switching to the communityskins branch here on Steam. Follow the info on this post for how to get started.
You may recall from the announcement post that we’d be running a competition to award the most up-voted skins over the following couple of weeks. That competition has now finished and we are very happy with how it turned out. We’ll contact the winners over the coming days and prepare a showcase of the winning line-up!
If you fancy creating your very own weapons or characters to share with the community (or even to just for yourself), we’ve prepared some cool guides on how to get started: Creating a Character Skin Guide | Creating a Weapon Skin. Sounds like something that’d be super hard, but it’s actually quite easy, barely an inconvenience! Hey, you might even get a chance to participate in one of the Community Skins competition in the future!
Closing Thoughts
We are very excited to get these and other massive changes we have been secretly working on your hands. We are also excited to seeing you play and receiving your feedback! Let us know what you think about these changes in the comments below, and keep an eye out, we barely scratched the surface of what is to come…
We hope you have a lovely day or night,

~ The Soulstone Team
