Hello Survivors,
As Wily Pumpkin, we felt the urge to write this statement for you from our headquarters. We have decided to discuss what happened and what will happen in a few main headlines with you. First of all, we would like to thank all the gamers, streamers, journalists, writers, critics who believed in us, who were with us and who took their time to add a lot to us with their positive and negative reviews. We are aware that the game world is not the land of candies and pink clouds, and we are grateful to all of you one by one, unlike being sorry, it is the obligation and responsibility to provide the promised product to end user when they talk big. That what we are going to do, learn from our mistakes and do bigger than we talk!
⦁ What Happened Until Now?
We released Potentia on February 12, 2021, as promised to you, we encountered satisfactory sales and congratulation letters, as well as some shortcomings that we did not notice, in fact, we encountered many obstacles that were visible only from outside of our perspective. We cannot pass without accepting that we have fallen into the "CDPR Habit", which has become an industry term by 2020, it would be unfair to you saying otherwise. Even though a serious player group likes Potentia in its current state, when we look at it, its shortcomings, unflattering edges and imperfect sides are striking our eyes. We are preparing this article not as an apology or a complaint, but as a thank you and announcement of what's coming. As a small studio on their first step, we are justly proud of the work we do, and we get to work in an extremely "hyped" state to improve ourselves and Potentia simultaneously.
⦁ What Will Happen?
It didn't take us long to realize that Potentia is actually not as "finished" as we thought it was, so we are preparing ourselves a new roadmap. With the belief that you have in us and your support, we will do everything we can to change everything that bothers you, matter by substance. We would like to give a few examples.
⦁ Re-recording the voiceovers to better-fit the characters and make them feel natural and as native as possible.
⦁ Implementing details of the main character's background and relationships, clarifying his identity and story.
⦁ Deepening the side characters by putting more effort on them .
⦁ Various visual improvements / changes to be made.
⦁ Cutscene improvements.
⦁ Taking action to offer a better experience by re-evaluating all parts in the game design process from top to bottom.
⦁ 2 new game modes (Surprise!).
⦁ Adding "selectable main character" feature (MORE VICTORS!!!).
⦁ The weapon arsenal is subject to expansion and change.
⦁ Rolling up our sleeves to create a broad catalog of "silent killing" and "finishing moves" instead of just one repeatative.
⦁ Participating in community communication platforms, primarily Discord, for better and closer interaction with our community of players and partners.
⦁ We will expand our team with people who are competent in the community and technical fields, to offer you a better Potentia and Wily Pumpkin experience.
And many other minor changes. We will make Potentia our dreams together in a short time by sharing updates and steps with you. Before we finish our statement, we would like to clarify with you an issue that has been on the agenda of all of us for a long time.
Similarity to another game
Although we did not act with the instinct or desire to bring Victor closer to Joel, we noticed that he was compared by his messy hair, long beard, and middle-aged white male model. But we have embarked on the process of creating a brand new Victor (s) in line with your demands. We will be sharing the story of Potentia much more deeply with you in the new version, but people who have actually played both The Last of Us and Potentia will not find evidence to support this allegation, except for a few similarities that cannot go beyond saying "nuance" in the game, because our game is neither a zombie epidemic, there is no story resemblance except for a post-apocalyptic tension, nor is there a commonality in maps / locations, on the contrary, we tried to crown your visions by putting a guitar in it to pay respects to The Last of Us, which is a great IP for this analogy. The most critical analogy we've heard from a few people so far is the Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction analogy, which we mostly compare Victor to the young Sam Fisher (conviction). While feeling obliged to remove even the slightest similarities from The Last of Us concept created a feeling of cyber-bullying, we overcame it and once again convinced us to set out to provide you with a completely different, extremely deeper Potentia.
