Dear Pioneers,
Time is flying! Our closed beta playtest is almost ending, and Early Access launch day is just around the corner! A huge thanks to all our alpha and beta testers for providing such valuable feedback. This helps us tremendously. Before we return to our desks, we want to share with you some of the new features waiting for you in the Early Access Version! Since the beginning there is one question that has been asked the most by our community: How does combat work? Well, now we can finally share a few glimpses of our combat system! How Combat Works in Pioneers of Pagonia
As many of you already know, Pioneers of Pagonia is no RTS. But you can control your units from the guard tower or the garrison. From there you can select the patrol point and click on the area where your military units should patrol. If there are enemies in the area, they will automatically engage in an attack.Enemy Types and How to Defeat Them
There are a variety of enemies lurking in the fog! Some are easier and some are quite tough to defeat. Each enemy type has several tier levels (usually tier 1 to 3) which determines the enemy’s strength. The higher the tier-level, the stronger your military units must be to defeat them.
Bandits
Bandits are crafty swordsmen and a real threat to your Pagonians. Depending on their tier-level they can be quite tough to defeat. You need to train higher-tier-level soldiers to stand a chance against elite bandits for example. When your explorer spots a bandit camp near your village, you will receive a notification. Explorer and other units fear enemies and will run away as soon as they encounter dangers!Thieves
Thieves will sneak into your village and steal valuable resources from your storage or treasury. What makes them hard to spot is their ability to disguise themselves as carrier units! Before they start to raid your village, they mask themselves, walk as a carrier unit into your village, steal the resource and bring it back to their camp. The only way to stop them is to attack their camp or train rangers in the adventurer's guild to expose the impostor and catch them before they steal your goods!Werewolves
There are also mythical creatures roaming through the fog of Pagonia! Hungry werewolves are not to be messed with! They spawn in their moon glen and are one of the most dangerous enemies in Pagonia. Guards and soldiers will have a tough time defeating werewolves and are more likely to perish under the sharp claws and fangs of a werewolf. What makes them even more dangerous is their ability to bite your Pagonians and turn them into werewolves! Once this happens, your units will walk straight to the moon glen and transform into a werewolf themselves. You will need to train fearnaughts to defeat these feisty creatures!
