Greetings, Builders ????????️
If you've seen our new Early Access Content RoadMap, you probably know that today, Builders of Greece will welcome some very special guests. Some of them are kind and caring, others do not shy away from violence... and all of them, without exception, are extremely powerful!
Without them, the culture and development of Ancient Greece would not have been the same. And it's not just about wonderful temples, altars, or the godsfearing everyday life of all social classes ???? Shared beliefs helped cement communities, making it easier for them to work together and pursue common goals. You and your subjects must also stand before the Gods to gain their favor... or ignite their wrath. And so - let's welcome them to your Polis!
It's time to meet your Patrons ????
All of the Gods will gladly accept your prayers and appreciation. However, to effectively demonstrate your devotion, you must first prepare an appropriate place. Religious buildings are perfect for this purpose, the first of which is the Altar. Once the Altar or other building of this kind finds its place in your city, you will gain access to the new panel shown below ????
In the Faith panel, you can see the satisfaction of individual Gods and learn how they can help you with their favors. Each of the religious buildings can be dedicated to one of the Patrons, and it is up to you to forge your own mortals-to-Gods strategy!
Will your Polis become a place of worship, or will you satisfy them with the bare minimum? Will you commit to one particular God, or will you try to be on good terms with them all? ???? The decision is yours alone, and each choice will have its consequences... To make your task easier, we have prepared a short cheat sheet!
Each God excels in a specific area
???? Artemis - Goddess of hunt, wild nature, moon and animals - thanks to her support, your ranged units will be more efficient in battle, and your Hunter's Hut will produce more meat
???? Aphrodite - Goddess of love, beauty and desire - with her help, your population will grow and reproduce faster, providing you with a stable influx of new subjects
???? Dionysus - God of wine, theater and ecstasy - through his passion for celebration, he will help you prepare important rituals that other Gods will surely appreciate
???? Hephaestus - God of fire and craftsmanship - thanks to his divine endurance and strength, Hephaestus improves the combat potential of your infantry units
???? Hestia - Goddess of family, travelers and newborns - her kindness and caring nature strengthens the bonds between the inhabitants of your city and allows more of them to fit under the roof of one house
Rituals and the fury of the Gods ⚡
The most effective way to win a God's favor is by performing special rituals in a dedicated place of worship. Preparing such rituals is often time-consuming and can be expensive, as the appropriate goods are needed to carry them out. Nevertheless, as you already know, it is a profitable investment. Especially since ignoring the jealous Ancient Gods is not a good idea...
The Gods can show their displeasure in various ways - and none of them are good for your city! ???? Angry Patrons may, for example:
• scare animals away from your hunting grounds
• cause a plague of infertility
• spark off the degradation of tools and valuable items
• turn other divine beings against your Polis
• cause random houses to fall into ruin...
And unfortunately, there may be more such negative effects! ☠️ With that in mind, be sure to carefully plan your relationships with the inhabitants of Olympus.
Improvements to the Technology system ????
While the introduction of the Faith system is the biggest change in today's Patch, it is not the only one. Based on your feedback, we also decided to make a number of changes to another very important feature of the game, namely the Technology system.
An overhaul of the Technology system is aimed at increasing its influence on the game throughout its course ???? This means that your development decisions will now have an even greater impact on how your entire Polis performs. Moreover, from now on you have the possibility to choose the development path that best suits you, which was not so strongly emphasized before.
More specifically, the Technology system has been divided into two kinds of perks: basic and elite ⭐ The first of them is necessary to push your city forward, while the latter will show their full potential in the mid and late game. Thanks to precisely adjusted gradation, elite perks will affect areas such as various production modifiers or the improvement of combat units.
New Maps ????️
Many of you, eager for new challenges, asked about new maps. We have done our best to fulfill this request, and so... we're happy to announce that with today's update, two new unexplored lands have appeared in Sandbox mode! And this is by no means the end - we will soon present you with even more maps, both in Scenario and Sandbox modes. Explorers, rejoice! ????
• Olympus Island - land of plateaus and plains, with a few gentle descents to the blue sea. A perfect place to build a vast, powerful Polis stretching to the horizon. If you dream of a city built at different heights, this place is just perfect.
• Hera Island - this unique island boasts a long, straight shoreline that can be used for maritime trade and fishing. Inland stretches a vast plain, the edges of which are marked by high, inaccessible yet majestic mountains.
Thank you for your time, Builders! We wish you many new awesome adventures in the mystical world of Ancient Greece. May the Gods bless you all! ????
