We have a few different strands of news to weave together for you today, and a few mysteries to leave in our wake.
Firstly, some new arrivals, landing with a new patch on March 26th!
The Astra Militarum have been fighting and dying in great numbers since their arrival late last year (Guardsmen are the most recruited and most departed unit in the game in the last 3 months) and in the coming weeks they’ll be getting a bit of help.
The initial recruit is for the Armoured Section and is the Leman Russ with its iconic Battle Cannon. This was previously only available on the Tank Commander, but it’s something that a lot of you have asked for, so we’ve now also made it available in a non-commander version.
The next is the Cadian Sergeant. The Astra Militarum is all about the Chain of Command and how that empowers and controls the vast forces of the Imperium, but in the current Astra Militarum lineup there is a very large gap between the vast hordes of soldiers and the Castellan, Commissar and Tank Commander; the Cadian Sergeant will help plug that gap. They are the most affordable command unit we’ve added to the game and will provide reliable buffs and support for Infantry Sections, possibly helping to alter that Kills:Death ratio in the positive direction!
Secondly, a refreshed combat doctrine for the Sisters of Battle.
The Sisters have been in Battlesector in some form since the very beginning, with the rescue from the Landing Pad and the abrupt arrival of Sister Verity on Baal Secundus. They arrived as a full faction soon after that but have rather slipped behind some of the more recent factions when it comes to battlefield performance and unique gameplay aspects.
So, in the same patch at the end of this month that adds the new Cadian units, we are going to be introducing a significant faction mechanic refresh for the Sisters of Battle.
We’ll reveal more later, but it is safe to say that they will be even more closely protected by their Shield of Faith and punch back even harder as they seek Absolution In Battle.
The Third thing to note is that this patch will also bring a new visual face to the Strategy Map for Planetary Supremacy. We have had to take this step as the visual fidelity of this screen has been causing issues for several users and its sheer beauty has meant that we’ve struggled to find ways to get useful information onto the map itself.
The initial approach that you will see in the next update is a significant stripping back of the map, with the beginnings of a new visual language to help teach players about what is behind each of the hex pillars. This is very much just the first step around here and is intended to enable us to add more interest and variety in the future.
And Fourthly and finally, the mysteries.
We have many threads of newness being woven amongst the Battlesector Team. Some of these are now becoming very real and we need some trusted troops to take part in a new private beta test for some exciting developments.
If you are interested in helping us out, you can sign up here.
(Note, PC Steam only for this beta test and you’ll need to already own the base game!)
