Context
As you may know on May 5th 2023 we announced RAILGRADE'S Steam release. At the time I did not write an announcement post here on Steam, I simply did not think to do so. Over the past month several players have joined the Discord to ask how long RAILGRADE's steam page has been up.
Thus going forward I want to post the occasional news announcement and keep everyone up to date on our progress and plans. RAILGRADE is under active development and on track to a grand release!
Catch Up
RAILGRADE released exclusively on Epic Games Store back in September 2022, on the 28th to be exact. Since then our biggest request from players has been to release on Steam. Towards that end we are hard at work on Update #3 which will include Steamdeck support, Steam controller integration, new Steam Trains, and new levels. Combined with prior updates the version Steam players will receive is much expanded and improved since our initial release.
Development Status of Update #3
Development on Update #3 is progressing on schedule. We've solved the crash bugs on the Steamdeck. Controller support on Steamdeck and Steam Controlller API is now solid. The game builds, and runs fine and the only known serious bug is achievements integration is still work in progress.
The new maps are still being worked on. With the high risk bugs and features getting solved our internal release date is looking safe. Expect a public announcement of our Steam release date in-not-too-long.
Speaking of achievements, I'm happy to announce for you achievement hunters out there, that we've given each achievement a properly designed icon. I know that seems minor, but we have 37 achievements and we're a bit picky on visual quality.
Long Term Roadmap
Important to note our Update #3 is a true third large scale update. We have released a number of minor updates which do not count towards that numbering. We've announced our plans, along with details of past updates, in our roadmap graphic:
