The main branch release of Update 6 - Wonders of Water is near, as you can probably tell from the final map tweaks we’re releasing today. While this is good news, it also means that, with heavy hearts, we needed to remove the waterfall particles from the game, at least for now.
Waterfall particles
As we noted in the patch notes for the experimental update introducing waterfall particles, they gave us some serious trouble. It was our custom solution, written to work with 3D water physics. We thought we solved the related visual issues before we pushed them out to the experimental branch, but thanks to the player feedback, more problems came to the surface. We made more tweaks, and we hoped all was good… until Monday. We discovered that our most recent fixes make the game unplayable on specific systems and graphical settings. It seemed unlikely that we’d be able to finalize a stable implementation on time, so we decided to remove them.
- Removed waterfall particles from the game. ;(
Maps
And we’re done! All maps have been revised to better use features of Update 6. This applies to 3D water physics, expanded verticality, and the ability to unlock the flexible start.
- Revised Thousand Islands, Craters, and Helix Mountains by adding flexible start options.
- Tweaked Terraces by adding a Slope in a handy location and moving some trees around.
Bug fixes
- The “Hold LMB to place multiple objects” tip now appears even for buildings yet to be unlocked.
- Power Shafts now rotate correctly when their sole function is charging the Gravity Battery.
- Wind Tunnel’s particles no longer pause along with the building. Mother Nature won’t be tamed!
- Underwater buildings are highlighted correctly after selection.
- The construction guidelines button is no longer blurry at high resolutions.
- Construction guidelines are no longer visible when moving the cursor over UI elements.
- Fixed a rare crash on macOS when exiting the game.
