Hello taxi drivers!
Today we want to say HI with this that song:

We know, The Doors come from California, not New York, but today, as you guessed, the devlog will be about... light! ????????????????
We have already presented Manhattan several times, which looked like this:
And like this:
These are still the same streets, but their magic is determined by the lighting. It makes the game look more realistic, we enjoy not only completing missions, but also driving aimlessly...
Although it's a detail, it is - in our opinion - especially important in open-world games. The very performance of the mission is one thing, but we want players to come back to the game also when they just want to ride and relax ????
What does lighting work mean?
- Color temperature - we set it to make the light effect spatial. It is thanks to this that the sun between the leaves seems real
- Light propagation - how far is it to go, where and what it will affect, and where and how strongly it is reflected from individual buildings.
We are also working on the post process - these are various effects, including color tweaking, but also vignettes, photo effects. It's also about working on presets for different times of the day and different weather conditions, so that a foggy morning or a rainy evening is as real as possible.
Here is a small video from our invaluable partner Beffio how Manhattan looks by day and by night:

We are also working on plants, but we will tell you about this and a few mechanics next time ???? Why? Oh, cause we will have a lot of nice renders and screens! ????????????????
