We're arriving with a new devlog! Lately there was a lot of showcasing of our progress regarding the game's graphical side - you could witness our interpetation of the look and the feel of New York City, as it will be portrayed in Taxi Simulator :D
Today we've decided to try something different and tell you about... our inspirations. Popculture inspirations ???? Sometimes the best ideas for games come from watching some good old TV during the evening…
Let's start with something not obviously associated with driving a taxi. Do you remember The A-Team? Yes, we're aware that instead of a yellow taxi, a black B.A. Van comes to mind ???? But hear us out... There was this one episode, during which our brave crew of veterans helped a taxi company fight of a corporation wanting to take over all cab routes. We're wondering how we could include this idea in our script ????
Time for a more obvious inspiration - Taxi Driver and the extraordinary role of Robert De Niro. If, while adding our game to your wishlist, you were wondering whether this movie will be one of our inspirations, then yes - it most definitely IS :D We couldn't afford to ignore a masterpiece of this magnitude while making a game about driving a taxi. Besides, we bet that anyone hailing a taxi hopes that Robert De Niro will be sitting behind the wheel ????
To wrap this up we would like to finish with an inspiration from our own backyard - Zmiennicy ("Subs"). Not well known outside of Poland, but in our country it was a huge hit! Of course in old times ???? To quickly summarize the plot - the main hero Jacek had a cab, but lacked a sub. At the same time Kasia was looking for a job as a taxi driver, but couldn't be hired on account of being a woman (SEXISM - unthinkable by today's standards!). But she didn't give up and decided to dress as a man, ultimately landing a job as Jacek's sub. Sounds like a soap opera? :D Yup, a little bit. SPOILER ALERT: they fell in love and lived happily ever after ????
We could go on forever writing about our inspirations, but we're curious if you could recommend a movie or a tv series which would be a NEW inspiration. If that is the case, then don't hesitate to let us know in the comment section - we will look through all the comments! ????
PS. GTA is also our inspiration. If we didn't include it, than we wouldn't be making a game about cars ????
