Stardate 23878.1
Hello and welcome!
Today we are going to lean into a more practical approach to our dev diary, as the stars align, we are looking at what is happening next Tuesday, when we explore some community engagement outside Discord, and look at our other friends in Star Trek gaming.
Reddit AMA Announcement
As you might already have seen, we (Nimble Giant & PDX_Ruk) are holding a Reddit AMA. This is the time to delve into Star Trek: Infinite and hopefully get some of your questions answered. With the team prepared and ready for this, we will dive into the most intriguing questions and share insights from behind the scenes.
You can find the announcement thread here on r/StarTrek.
Our plan is to go for a few hours, and we will try to tackle as many questions as possible. The future is still to be written, but we will do our best to answer what we know about it.
As always, remember the rules of the subreddit: Be Constructive, Be Welcoming, Be Nice, Be On Topic - I don’t want to use the report button, but we don’t want to use our AMA to argue with anyone.
Star Trek Online Cross Promotion
We know that a lot of you out there also play Star Trek Online, and when we were approached by the team to do a cross-promotion, I jumped at the chance.
So alongside the AMA, on the 21st of November, we will open up the floodgate and anyone who is an owner of Star Trek: Infinite will have a key they can use to unlock our Miranda-Class model in Star Trek Online.
Our beautiful Miranda model, now in Star Trek Online
More info on how to redeem this will be published on Tuesday the 21st.
Moving On
Back in Growing the Beard we promised we would be working hard over the next month to fix as many issues as possible. Come the 21st of November we will be delivering the 5th of these weekly patches, and having hammered out over 200 fixes.
We have fixed the most glaring issues as well as a bunch of annoying minor issues, and are drawing ever closer to our 4K scaling problems. Fonts now scale correctly, and the UI should now not overlap or hide any information if you do scale up or down the game. We still have some engine settings we are implementing and testing, but playing on a 4K screen after Tuesday should be far more pleasurable.
Overall there was a lot of work put into this game over the last month and we believe the game is now in a much better state than when we were at release, and if you were turned off during that first week, I encourage you to check us out again.
(Also if you left us a negative review because of any of the issues we have now fixed, we would be super thankful for a re-review, if possible )
Anything else for the 21st?
There might be a 4th thing occurring on the 21st, and it might tie into the above three things.
But if you want to know what that is, you should join our AMA.
Thank you all, and I'll be seeing you again on Tuesday.
