We start the new year with the kick-off of a new tradition - a regular Q&A with various departaments working on WW3.
Without further prolongation, below you will find answers to the questions you asked under our posts and article about changes in the organization and ownership of World War 3 game.
Q: Any words about the future of the game?
A: Hey there! We’re aware that the project has many issues right now and we’re working on development priorities. We are currently focusing on fixes and long due changes. However, we will not be releasing them in small doses, but will be preparing one big update.
Our goal is to make the game stable, improve its performance on a wide variety of PC specs and bring lots of new content to the game: maps, weapons, game modes, etc.
Hold tight for the lowdown in Q1 2024!
Q: Console plans for WW3?
A: We feel the console vibes, but right now, we're focused on fine-tuning the PC version. Consoles aren't in the immediate cards, unfortunately.
Q: Any plans on making helicopters as actual vehicles and not streaks?
A: For now we think that the “Strikes” game mechanic works pretty good and is one of the positive features of WW3. Shifting gears would gobble up resources, and right now, we're all about game stability and optimization. Got cool ideas? Share with us!
Q: What about the external launcher?
A: We do have plans to launch and distribute the game client via Steam.
Q: More geo-located maps, like New York?
A: Yes, we want to further explore the idea of “dark tourism”, when you visit the places in the world you know of, but in a setting of a global conflict.
We intend to develop the idea of maps based on real places. But we also don't want to make very similar maps, we want new maps to have unique gameplay styles.
Q: Anti-cheat plans?
A: Project already has an anti-cheat called MRAC. But at this time we're in the middle of testing other solutions that we'll definitely explore later in better detail.
Q: Am I going to lose my operators and blueprints?
A: No we're not planning resets and players will keep all of their belongings. Applies to both paid and hard-earned content.
Q: Game going P2W?
A: We understand your concerns, however P2W is a no-go; We are insistent on keeping P2W out, and monetisation to a strictly cosmetic system.
Q: Changing WW3 foundations and unique vision?
A: Nope! Keeping the core close, expanding with feedback in mind. No reason to worry about core gameplay being excessively affected. We wish to carefully expand the gameplay instead of breaking things that people love.
Q: Any changes for the progression system?
A: Brainstorming phase! Speeding up early progression for new players might be a thing, we're satisfied with the backbone of progression, but we do hope that deeper development research will provide us with tools to make it better.
Q: Server expansions to OCE, South America?
A: Hey, we see that SA and OCE servers are being requested, and we appreciate your excitement to play World War 3! Focusing on game tech fixes first, especially matchmaking system. Once sorted, new server spots might be on the radar.
Q: Moving to UE5? Upgrading UE4?
A: Right now we are fixing aspects of the game that are not working or otherwise need improvements. This is going to be an enormous task itself, so we really can’t consider such huge overhauls as moving to UE5 until the basics are done and dusted.
Q: Web inventory system removal?
A: Still on the drawing board. Will heavily depend on the project's technical rework. This served as a backup system that allowed us to avoid some issues in the past, but we will definitely look into its optimization.
Q: Reworking weapon sounds?
A: Not top-tier priority right now, but we are not excluding the possibility of working on this one day and bringing it to our players.
Q: Planned Season 4 content still happening?
A: Tech fixes in the pipeline for a major update next year, therefore we can not focus on releasing a content update as planned, but fear not, we will release Season 4 with the new content at a later date.
Q: Server browser, please?
A: A chance! Figuring out the details with the new dev team.
Q: Do you have plans to extend the current season?
A: Absolutely! We've extended the current season, while our new dev team is working on the new one.
We hope you will like this form of communication. Another chance to ask questions soon! This time directly to the developers.
