The fifth of the seven deadly sins: Envy
“Does envy not have its uses? If we never sought the good others have, aren't we doomed to misery?”
What do you think? Can Envy actually lead to better results? If you are striving for more but the original motive is a negative one - such as the deadly sins Envy - is your outcome by definition a bad one?
The definition of Envy
Invidia: Envy can be described as a resentful covetousness towards the traits or possessions of someone else, arising from vainglory. Kindness cures envy.
Inside their minds
In Sinwell some of the villagers are amongst the artist guild. Painters and sculptors are all part of the same community, with the skilled but jealous Hieronymus being their leader. Envy has spread across them and so their minds are a mix between an artist’s studio and a tower - to manifest “striving for more” and thus climbing up or down “the ladder”.
In the first Envy level, the according villager can even be seen in the oil painting that is hanging in the back of the level’s wall.
The Feet Demon is also first introduced in this level. Sometimes its little descendants are following him, perfect for Power Dash combos and extra coins…
Speedrun incoming!
Contrary to the first level that goes from top to bottom, the second Envy level needs to be climbed up. But do not worry, we placed many trampolines here and so it became THE Saga of Sins Speedrun level per definition, including lots of Dash Doves to instantly refill your Dash Meter and thus enabling a super-fast playstyle. More on this topic after launch!
