Fellow Knights of Mankind,
Much has happened since Unawake made its appearance in Steam Next Fest last year. The Halloween demo also provided many of you with a taster of the visceral action we’ve been putting together. Today we wanted to update you on the latest work we’ve been putting into the game and highlight some of the aspects that we’ve continued to work on since those playable demos.
One key area we’ve been working on is the combat, feedback from the demo was useful in fine tuning what is one of the most important aspects of the game. Hit markers, sound, and the weight of an attack as well as defending blocking or parrying has been enhanced. Players wanted to feel the weight of the melee and for us that meant balancing the speed of combat with making those fights believable and visceral. In combat clashing with the enemy creates that sense of impact and high energy.
In Unawake we’ve devised a Standard attack, a counter attack, a slower but higher damaging special attack, a stagger and dodge ability and the opportunity to bash the enemy with a stun move which is performed with the left fist, foot or fist section of the sword hand.
