Control has issued an update regarding the recent save game issues that a limited number of you reported following our September patch.
At the time, we asked you to not pull the trigger and start a new game, as this could overwrite your existing progress. We’re pleased to confirm the issues identified with the save system have now been addressed in today’s patch:
If you created a new save following the installation of the September patch, you will be able to continue your campaign with this new update. Similarly, any save games created before last month’s patch are also safe to continue. Unfortunately, any save games loaded during September’s patch are permanently gone due to unforeseen corruption issues.
We’ve also fixed an issue with the Steam language option, so the game now boots in the chosen language.

October patch notes
- Save system issues have been addressed:
- Saves not loaded on September’s patch will be safe to load on the new build. Players who have not attempted to play the game since then will be safe.
- Saves created on the September patch can be continued on the new October build.
- However, saves loaded on the previous patch released in September are unfortunately gone permanently due to unforeseen corruption issues.
- Removed 20GB of unnecessary textures
- Fixed a language issue where the game would boot in English regardless of the selection made in Steam properties. Now boots in the selected language.
