We've been hard at work on Ships At Sea, and while we know you're eagerly awaiting the release of update v0.7.5, we wanted to give you a sneak peek of something new coming with update v0.8: The Technical Room!
New Feature - The Technical Room (Coming in v0.8)
Larger ships offer more space, allowing for dedicated areas for specific functions. In v0.8, Tier 3 ships will include the Technical Room, a critical area for managing and maintaining the vessel’s systems. You might be wondering about the engine room—this will be introduced with Tier 4 ships, which are planned for release next year. Our ultimate goal for larger vessels is to have all supported instruments, engines, and equipment connected to either the technical room or the engine room, ensuring comprehensive system control and enhancing the ship simulation experience.

Here’s what to expect:
- Switchgear Cabinets: As you navigate the open seas, the components in these cabinets will gradually wear down and break, requiring your attention for repairs and maintenance, or else the ship cannot function properly.
- Connected Systems: All respective instruments in the wheelhouse will be connected to the technical room.
- Monitoring: As a crew or captain you must monitor the technical room for potential system failures and respond quickly to prevent any issues that could impact your journey.
This is just the beginning of the larger ship systems overhaul, with much more to come! We are now laying a foundation for the future, and since everything is built on a module-based system, expanding new features or gameplay can easily be done. In addition, the future mod support will also benefit from all the work we do now.
Why the Delay in v0.7.5?
We realize that you eagerly awaiting the update v0.7.5, and we apologize for the delay. Our main focus is on providing an immersive experience, particularly in terms of co-op/competitive play. We are actively working hard to address and resolve as many of the issues as possible that you have reported since the Early Access release.
Here’s what we’re improving:
- We are overhauling the Cargo/Mission/Tutorial Systems to provide a smoother experience. This includes the ability to stack cargo and to lay the foundation for future container handling, save cargo, and resolve issues where cargo deliveries weren't recognized, and much more.
- Players can now take on multiple missions without issues, improving mission flow and gameplay. Additionally, the ability to complete missions together in co-op on the same boat.
- And a lot more...
