Greetings Pharaohs,
Today, we are ready to deploy a new update to Pharaoh: A New Era that addresses bug fixes and issues in the military system.
Thanks to the community feedback received since the game launched, the development team worked to address issues related to the military system alongside a new Defense System that brings new purpose to fortifications.
Added Defense System:
- Defensive structures now trigger a defensive zone around them
- Surrounding a zone with defensive structures protects it entirely
- Civil buildings located in a defensive zone cannot be destroyed in the aftermath of a battle
- All invasions now trigger a round of destruction of civil buildings (can only be countered if your army is stronger than the invader’s)
- Your city is now more vulnerable to destruction if you lose or narrowly win a battle
- Added Defense Overlay to display the current defensive zones
- Predators inside a defensive zone can no longer attack walkers
Fixed:
- Fixed Overseer of the Military displaying bow icon for upgraded infantry
- Fixed soldiers layering on battle screen
- Enemy death count now rounds up properly
- Increased tower effect on battle calculation
- Decreased the price for walls, towers and gatehouses
- Fixed troop returns event message
- Temple Complex to Seth bonuses are now: Losing fewer troops during battles and Troops gain more experience after a battle
- The Overseer of the Military is now disabled on maps where no military building is available
- Overseer of the Treasury now displays money loss after being defeated in battle
Level Design optimization:
- Behdet : Added Walls, Towers and Gatehouses with better starting funds.
- Byblos : Predators are now set as Hyenas instead of Scorpions
- Dakhla Oasis : Predators are now set as Hyenas instead of Scorpions
- Dunqul Oasis : Predators are now set as Hyenas instead of Scorpions
- Heh : Predators are now set as Hyenas instead of Scorpions
- Pyramid Scheme : Predators are now set as Hyenas instead of Scorpions
- Saqqara : Predators are now set as Hyenas instead of Scorpions
- Sawu : Predators are now set as Hyenas instead of Scorpions
- Serabit Khadim : Predators are now set as Hyenas instead of Scorpions
- Small Oasis : Predators are now set as Hyenas instead of Scorpions
- Timna : Added Walls, Towers and Gatehouses. Updated tutorial to introduce new military features. Better starting funds.

Various bug fixes, changes and level design optimizations:
- Units can now be upgraded in Forts even if resources are scattered across multiple storage yards
- Fixed Rotated Gatehouses placement
- Fixed a bug soft-locking monuments when saving/loading during the “remove grass” step
- Fixed a guild worker-related error
- Various fixes on monument workers
- Prebuilt monuments now count towards monument rating only when the monument is required to win the current mission
- Fixed chained events delay trigger where some events were never called
- Population Milestones no longer trigger when loading a save
- Gift illustrations are now properly randomized every time you send a new gift
- Fixed gift window close button
- The game now sends an alert when the Kingdom road is blocked for migrants
- Cheat code “Treasure Chest” gives 10,000 Debens instead of 1,000
- Confirm button now works properly in the cheat console
- Fixed Conservatory flat mode icon
- Storage building UI is now updated when goods are being thrown away
- Traders from different cities that sell the same goods no longer trade more than the requested quantity
- Merchants no longer complain they didn’t sell anything when they actually did
- Added tooltip to nilometer
- Wood Cutters are now better at finding trees
- Reed Gatherers are also better at finding reeds
- Improved distribution of workers among buildings
- Overseer of Workers now uses the new building icons
- Fixed a carrier-related crash
- Fixed collapse risk overlay
- Fixed crane birds Z-index
- Fixed storage method to prevent an infinite loop leading to a crash
- Optimized Monument rendering to improve performance
- Optimized Walkers’ surrounding detection
- Optimized random path computation
- Optimized road construction & destruction
- Fixed period achievements unlock
- Fixed desirability update when removing an object
- Firefighters now walk through ruins
- Firefighters now extinguish burning ruins
- Fixed transfer of personal funds between missions
- Fixed Water overlay
- Fixed Health Overlay tooltip
- Asleep buildings are now properly saved
- Temple Complexes’ altars and oracles are now properly displayed after a save
- Fixed deserialization of locusts on meadow farms
- Several localization fixes
- Alexandria (Custom Mission) : Fixed Crocodile spawn points
- Henen-Nesw : Trade increase events for Sauty now target Gems instead of Copper
- Hetepsenusret : Added Weavers
- Hostile Nations : Added Zoos, Game Meat and Hunting Lodges. Removed Meat and Cattle Ranches.
- Iken : Fixed crocodile spawn points positions
- Iunet : Added Weavers & Jewelers
- Meidum : “Price decreased” events now target Incense instead of Jewelry. Added Walls, Towers and Gatehouses
- Pi-Yer : “Price increased” events can now also target Incense and Ivory
- Rostja : Added Breweries
- Rowarty : “Price decreased” events targeting Jewelry can now also target Ebony and Ivory
- Selima Oasis : Added Walls and Towers
- Steps : Weapons can now be stored in storage yards
