Grab a tampon, it's that time of the month again. We've finally got more stuff to showcase this month with the latest update to Epic Space: Online Version 60. In August, we're finally released the next ship in a long line of spacecraft coming to the game. The Hermes. A transport ship, designed for the Courier/Trader in mind.
Update Highlights:
- A new cargo ship called "Hermes" is available.
- The Hermes is a dedicated transport ship.
- It is the only ship that can pickup and drop off cargo containers.
- Special Ability: Nano Cloud: Spews a cloud of nano bots that repair other ships in range.
- This is not "The" Capital Ship mentioned in the Kickstarter.
- All Founders get a copy of this new ship for free.
What is the Hermes?
Some of you may remember the "Cargo Ship" from Epic Space: Classic. It was a necessary tool for constructing space stations and transporting cargo around. In Epic Space: 3D it has even more functionality and purpose.

The Hermes is a support ship allowing pilots to take cargo in bulk to any destination. It supports a new type of module: Large Cargo Container (up to 3) and can Jettison and Pickup these containers with ease.

Max Retrofits: 4
Ship Ability: Repair Cloud
The Hermes supports a new type of retrofit: Large Cargo Container. Containers can be jettisoned and picked up at any time. Each container adds an extra 500m3 of cargo space to the Hermes. The containers remain persistent in the game universe.

Major Changes to Asteroids Bases
- Asteroid bases now have a set of upgrades that pilots can choose from.
- Once you've successfully constructed an asteroid base you have the option of turning it into a factory that produces 1 of any of the dozens of different items in Epic Space.
- Upgrading the base will allow you to take in "Workers" that help your base generate credits while you're offline and increase your base's overall productivity.
New: Workers
- A new tradable good has been introduced into Epic Space: Workers.
- Workers are basically humans in stasis pods enroute to various destinations.
- Workers can now be shanghaied from Couriers. Apply them to your asteroids base to unlock more base upgrades and increase daily revenue generation.
New: Average Prices Tooltip
- overing over items now show a very detailed tooltip of the item's price history, crafting recipe and more.
Misc Changes, Tweaks
- Constructor Beams can now repair friendly ships.
- The base ranges for all weapons have been doubled.
- You can now unbind keys with the ESC key in the options menu.
- A cooldown timer is now shown on all ship ability icons.
- Character buttons have been redesigned on the login interface.
- Factory and Refinery lines have been removed entirely to support the new Asteroid Base upgrade tree.
- Upon death, the location of your wreckage is now automatically bookmarked, giving you a better chance to retrieve loot from your wreckage.
- When your ship's HP is low, you will now see an engine fire emanating from your ship.
- Fixed an issue keeping pilots from completing a part of the tutorial purely with the joystick.

Large Cargo Containers
Along with the introduction of the Hermes, we're adding another important feature, Cargo Containers that can be Jettisoned and Picked up by the Hermes Cargo Ship.
Large cargo containers can only be carried by Hermes Cargo Ships.
