The time has come to introduce you to the deadliest enemies in the game: Vampire Hunters!
They come from the Hunter Guild, an esteemed order that has stood the test of centuries. Passed down through generations, their mission is to cleanse the world of vampires and put an end to their nocturnal shenanigans.
In essence, Vampire Hunters are linked to the game's suspicion meter. Here's the deal: the more innocent blood you spill in the presence of witnesses, the higher their suspicions soar. Once you hit that danger zone, they'll be hot on your undead trail faster than a bat hell-bent on escape! At first, they may visit your hotel in disguise, posing as regular guests, just to carry out their investigation. The higher your suspicion meter rises, the greater the chance that the guest you are about to feed on is, in fact, a Vampire Hunter, prepared to unleash their full force against you! Fortunately, you don't have to rely on guesswork here, as there are multiple ways to uncover secrets of your guests (see the Guest Traits update). Once they've confirmed your true identity, prepare for all hell to break loose. So, if you'd rather avoid encounters with the deadliest enemies in the game, it's best to keep your vampiric exploits unnoticed by the unsuspecting guests of your hotel.
How powerful are Vampire Hunters? Well...we've cranked up the challenge dial to the max, transforming them into a nearly insurmountable force. More often than not, the optimal strategy is to flee! Or... soar away as a bat! After all, getting yourself killed will inevitably result in a long recovery within the confines of your coffin. You might want to avoid that, as it will inevitably lead to the hotel falling into disarray, with neglected customers, negative reviews, and maybe even theft. However, if you have the audacity to face Vampire Hunters head-on, a special reward might await you, not to mention the respect of the esteemed Vampiric Council.
As your vampiric powers grow in strength, so do the hunters in might. They come in four types, each deadlier than the last. Here's what awaits you as you progress through the game:
The Silentio ("silent") are the type of Vampire Hunters feared for their stealth and lethal precision. Masters of disguise, they seamlessly blend into the shadows, becoming one with the night itself. Clad in darkness, their weapon of choice is a dagger, honed to perfection, capable of delivering swift death both in close quarters combat and when hurled through the air with lethal accuracy. Vampires tremble at the mere thought of facing this enigmatic group, for they know that once the Venator Noctis is on their trail, their fate is sealed in the grip of their relentless pursuit.
The Mortiferi ("deadly ones") are the second upgrade of Vampire Hunters. They are are skilled in the art of destruction, wielding both explosives and blades with deadly precision. Their arsenal consists of small bombs that can disorient, poison, and incapacitate their undead adversaries, complemented by their expertise in close-quarters combat. With a calculated blend of explosive power and razor-sharp blades, the Mortiferi strike fear into the hearts of vampires, leaving a path of devastation in their wake.
The Divinum ("divine") are a breed of Vampire Hunters veiled in mystery. Possessing mystical abilities that defy explanation, they harness these magical gifts to devastating effect against their immortal foes. The origin of their otherworldly powers remains shrouded in speculation, whispered among legends of a symbiotic connection with their prey from the past.
The Invictus ("unconquered") are the ultimate Vampire Hunters. Covered in impenetrable armor, they are a force to be reckoned with. Their expertise in both melee and ranged combat is unrivaled. Not only do they possess unparalleled combat skills, but they also boast an impressive resistance to the magic wielded by vampires, making them immune to the enchantments and spells that would hinder lesser hunters. If you see one, run! Unless...you like rare loot & achievements.
- You can see behind-the-scenes screenshots of the making of these characters (and other cool stuff) on our Discord server. But that's not all - you can also contribute ideas. If your idea ends up being used in the game, you'll receive an in-game credit and a copy of the game when it launches.
