Try this list of existing in-game activities with ties to Maelstrom and Malacath to help you get ready for the upcoming Scions of Ithelia DLC releasing this March!
Update 41 and the Scions of Ithelia DLC are coming soon (March 11 for PC/Mac and March 26 for Xbox and PlayStation consoles) and are now accessible on the Public Test Server. However, there is more you can do to prepare for the upcoming release. If you want to learn about the new dungeon settings and characters, check out these in-game activities right now!
Experience the Wrothgar Zone Storyline
The cult of Malacath plays a significant role in both the upcoming Oathsworn Pit dungeon and the Wrothgar zone (available as part of the Orsinium DLC). Both feature one of Malacath’s ardent followers, Chief Bazrag, an Orc leader devoted to his people’s traditions—not least of which is the veneration of the Daedric Prince of the Bloody Oath. You can play through the Wrothgar zone story to learn more about this staunch supporter of Malacath.
Discover the home of the Orcs in Wrothgar
To experience this story, you need access to the Orsinium DLC game pack, available from the Crown Store or through ESO Plus™. Begin your adventure through the Stories tab in your Collections, by speaking to Stuga in the city of Shornhelm in Rivenspire, or by examining the letter labeled “Invitation to Orsinium” by the Merchant’s Gate Wayshrine in Wrothgar.
Fight In the Maelstrom Arena
Fa-Nuit-Hen's demi-realm of Maelstrom is home to many strange locales, including the upcoming Bedlam Veil dungeon. However, this unique pocket of Oblivion first appeared in ESO with the release of Maelstrom Arena in 2015. Many adventurers have braved the Arena’s challenges in the past, and if you too wish to test yourself, you can get a first taste of Fa-Nuit-Hen’s domain there.
Battle to survive the Maelstrom Arena
To reach Maelstrom Arena, you need access to the Orsinium DLC game pack. You can fast travel to Maelstrom Arena via the world map or visit it on the eastern border of Wrothgar.
Explore the Obsidian Scar
Malacath’s domains are said to include oaths, vengeance, and ostracization. However, Daedric Princes are complex beings, and their affairs can be nuanced, even including… a love story? When love is ended by cruel fate or crueler hands, Malacath’s rage may rise to replace it. You can see such a fate unfold in the Obsidian Scar public dungeon, where a clan of Orcs worship the Prince.
You can find the Obsidian Scar in the zone of Rivenspire and it is part of the ESO base game. Witness how Malacath intervenes in love and war by speaking to Lashgikh just inside the dungeon entrance.
Prove Your Might to Malacath
Preparing for the new dungeons isn’t just a PvE matter. If your Battlegrounds queue takes you to the ruins of Mor Khazgur, you might battle under the watchful gaze of the Orc-Father himself. If you’re truly devoted to Malacath, seek out the legendary hammer Volendrung in Cyrodiil. The Daedric artifact owes much of its devastating power to him, so what better way to curry Malacath’s favor than to wield it in his name?
Fight under the gaze of Malacath
Battlegrounds and Cyrodiil are both part of the ESO base game. You can queue for Battlegrounds through the Group & Activity Finder, and for Cyrodiil through the Alliance War interface.
Craft Gear and Consumables
Only the most foolish warrior would go into battle unprepared, whether across the twisted creatia of the Bedlam Veil or in the depths of the Oathsworn Pit. We recommend you craft or improve your gear in preparation for the upcoming threats, and stockpile consumables for use.
For example, gear from the Kagrenac’s Hope set makes resurrecting your party members easier—you might need it for the dungeons’ challenging Veteran difficulty level! Alternatively, give your martial skills an edge by crafting some Essence of Weapon Power for increased damage output.
Always stock up before a new adventure!
If you can’t craft powerful items yourself, consider buying them from other players. Commerce may not be prestigious in the eyes of Daedric Princes or Demi-Princes, but even they can’t argue with the results!
How are you planning to get ready for the arrival of Scions of Ithelia? Will you entertain Fa-Nuit-Hen in the Maelstrom Arena or impress the Orc-Father with your craftsmanship? You can even try the content out right now on the Public Test Server! Tell us your plans via X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook.
