Leider...

An unfortunate miss, we need more Godzilla-like games and this was almost a good one.

Speaking of which, I really don't know why buildings are even featured in most of the maps since watching them collapse is less satisfying than watching a Jenga tower topple over. They don't seem to serve any purpose other than to obscure your vision of the enemy. I certainly can't recommend Override if you want to see cities getting levelled.
Combat with the mechs themselves is a bit too 'Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots' for my taste. Is there any depth to it? I doubt it. Aside from the occasional charge attack with both arms, I mostly performed kicks with the right leg. It seemed to be the quickest and most far-reaching attack. And so it was throughout story mode. A kick in the bum for the aliens and mechs. Over and over again. I was like a one-legged man in an arse kicking contest. If that's you're kind of thing, well then, enjoy.
As for me, I think that the developers may have been better off going down the Gundam Musou route. The combat would have been pretty simplistic as well, but at least flashy moves would have made this more interesting to watch. Might not do wonders for the competitive multiplayer scene, but it looks like it would be pretty barren either way.
So, what we have here is boring combat, bland environments, repetitive music, a forgettable story mode and multiplayer which hardly anyone wants to play. There are games that I am done with after only a short time, but some of them can still be memorable because they at least do something exceptionally well, whether it be the story or gameplay (or both). I even return to them every once in a while for that reason. Override offers none of that. I think I'm more likely to remember writing a review for Override, rather than the experience I had of actually playing the game itself.
How did this end up in my library anyway, you may ask? Why, it was part of a Humble Monthly bundle of course! It's junk like this that causes myself to wonder what possessed me to subscribe in the first place. Curse you Humble Store!

BUT it lacks the interactivity with the environment that made War of the Monsters awesome; you can't climb most structures, buildings crumble with one touch instead of several, and there is no interactivity with world objects like cars, trucks, antennae, etc. I want to be able to use all that stuff as weapons, and it just crumbles. How this was made and there is no ability to really interact with the environment I have no idea. It needed MORE interactivity than War of the Monsters, not less.
I'll give a thumbs up because it looks nice and plays pretty well, and you do get the feeling that you are a giant robot from the sound effects and destruction. BUT it is screaming for more interactivity with the environment.

I mean you play with giant robots to protect earth
and even multiplayers can control same robot like in pacific rim, power rangers etc.
PROS:
-Unique concept
-Cheap
-Fun story
CONS:
-Multiplayer is dead sadly
-Short story (2 hours)
-Robots aren't balanced (Metageckon has the coolest and most powerful skills and cool appearance (like Godzilla))
-Last boss is easy
Overall buy it on sale and enjoy for a few hours, if you are ok with playing single.

Zitat:
Follow our curator page, Original Curators Group if you want to see more reviews like this one.
First Impressions:
It's not often that I see a game centered around piloting a giant mech, which is a shame as it's quite fun. The last games I recall doing something like this in were Blast Corps and Rampage World Tour, both for the N64. In this case, the primary goal isn't city destruction, as that's only a side-effect. Instead, you're fighting off alien forces, who instead of using UFOs and laser beams, are using giant monsters to take over the planet, and the only appropriate response for Earth is to send out an arsenal of massive robots. This game had my interest on premise alone, and it looked promising. However, it winds up being overall disappointing.
Gameplay:
There are two main gameplay modes. In Arcade Mode (by which they really mean story mode), you'll choose 1 mech to control, and follow the pilot's perspective as they fend off the invading aliens. In-between story moments, you'll have a handful of mission types to choose from, with varying objectives, difficulty levels, time required, and rewards. After selecting your mission, you'll have to take out the enemy forces before time runs out. Versus Mode is just PvP, where you go online or locally and face off against human players.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2098625190
Controls:
Controlling the mechs is somewhat complicated, since you attack with all 4 limbs independently. Movement is done with the 'L joystick,' while you move the camera with the 'R joystick.' Pushing in on the 'R joystick,' will also lock-on to an enemy. The 4 shoulders buttons are pressed to punch and kick, while holding down 1 of the buttons will charge up a melee attack. You can move around and charge up a punch, but charging up a kick locks you in place. Holding down 'Y' will block attacks. Your more powerful moves, which use up your bars, are done by holding down 'X' and pressing one of the shoulder buttons. Lastly, you can use a special attack if your health is critically low, by pressing both the 'R and L Trigger buttons.' The specific effects of your powered-up moves depend on which mech you're piloting. When playing with another person, the controls are split up evenly. For instance, one will move the mech, while the other guides its line of sight.
Story:
Override Mech City Brawl (OR) isn't as cheesy as other sci-fi games, taking the situation of an alien invasion more seriously, without showing the hysterical crowds and reactions. Instead, you focus on only a handful of central characters, and how they're addressing this crisis. It's fairly stereotypical, but I appreciate the straightforward tone. There are dialogue differences based on which mech/pilot you've selected, but there aren't branching paths or significant changes to what happens. Since they all have different ideologies and reasons for developing their mechs, I would think they'd respond to these situations differently and have some impact on what occurs. However, this isn't the case, which diminishes my interest in playing through the game multiple times.
Graphics:
This is one area where OR does very well, as the 3D graphics are great to look at. Everything is vibrant and crisp, with skylines that look gorgeous, monstrous aliens, and oversized machines that appear to have come straight off the assembly line. It's a very pretty game to look at, though one downside is not seeing more signs of wear and tear. When you're in poor shape, you look as pristine as you did before getting blasted and beat into scrap. Also, some things don't seem to interact properly, as your feet will sometimes shift through the ground.
There's a reasonable level of attention to the environments, with realistic-looking buildings and roads, which even includes crosswalks. Stomping around and knocking enemies through buildings will level them, meaning most of the environment is destructible. As they're falling apart, they don't look to have mass or material to them, looking more like Styrofoam. How devoid these locations are of people is unrealistic though less gory for it, but the way it's set up does make OR feeling like you're piloting a large machine as you stack up against sadly paper-thin skyscrapers.
The designs of the mechs are varied, or at least as much as they can be with the same body structure and proportions. I don't know how feasible it would have been, but a broader range of builds and styles would have been more interesting. For instance, mechs of different sizes, various limb counts and purposes, completely distinct attack structures, etc.

Sound Design:
Throughout the game, you'll shoot various beams, bash baddies with large weapons, and wreck buildings. Your attacks generate sound effects that seem suitable, but the game is surprisingly quiet otherwise, even as you're turning city blocks into rubble. The songs for the game vary depending on which of the 10 locations you're at, but most of it is too mellow and laid back for the action taking place. It sounds good enough, but it neither draws from its setting strongly enough nor emphasizes destructive energy in a way that's exhilarating. Could be why I wasn't able to find the OST posted on YouTube, as it's not interesting enough to warrant upload.
Pros:
???? The approach to coop mode in this game is novel, as you split up control of the mech between players, meaning you truly have to work together to play the game. If that's not your speed, you can play against them in versus mode, with up to 4 players/bots fighting at once.
???? I wouldn't say playing each mech feels completely unique, but the variety of special attacks they have helps further differentiate them.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2098641691
Cons:
❌ The single player campaign is surprisingly short. When playing with a friend for the first time, we played through 1 mech's entire campaign in under 2 hours. This suggests more emphasis was placed on creating several mechs, some of which are locked behind paid DLC, instead of developing content in the game.
❌ I imagine if you didn't make wise choices on upgrading your mech, the game could be challenging. However, even with the slight handicap of splitting control of the mech between myself and a friend, the game was really easy.
❌ The game has a heavy emphasis on versus mode, and as many have mentioned in the discussion posts, finding a match is hard because it's nearly abandoned.
Tips:
???? When playing Arcade Mode, prioritize missions that grant research boosts, and mostly ignore weapons. Upgrading your mech's offense, defense, and other attributes is more important than random equipment and weapons. Only go for mods that grant significant benefits, such as health regeneration.
???? Spend a few minutes in practice/training mode. It helps to learn the controls and adapt to how the game plays, as it's fairly unique.
Final Thoughts:
I was interested in OR at first, but the short campaign deflated that enthusiasm quickly. If I had bought this game through Steam, I'd have refunded it after beating the campaign with 1 mech, as that'd still be under the 2 hour refund limit. The gameplay is pretty fun, and can provide destructive enjoyment when sharing control of the mech with a friend. However, with the game emphasizing the number of mechs available to play as over what you can actually do with them, there's simply not enough meaningful content to make it worthwhile. I don't recommend this game, as the developers got overridden by a desire to cash out on a short game, with $15 (half the game's cost) worth of DLC that doesn't even make it longer.

lets begin and answer what matters.
Is this game fun? YES
If you like mechs and kaijus to beat up then get this game.
It has a cheesy story mode that fits the Kaiju world.
Earth is under attack, giant monsters are destroying cities.
Choose your mecha and fight them.
The game features a singleplayer story mode, online pvp mode and offline versus mode.
You can unlock skins for each mecha and customise them.
The gameply is extremely fun and will get you going for a few hours a day.
The idea that the devs had in mind is great.
Its a fun game set in a kaiju world. And i love it.
Totally recommend the game.
Have fun !!!!

It's a mech brawler/ beat em up in 3 dimensions in a decent arena size with 10 cool maps and 12+ mechs to choose from
I love mechs so I am partial towards it, it's done well in execution and the soundtrack is nice. Small and light mechs with different attacks. I like Rocca, you can hear the weight behind him while he fights
some nice skins to cutomise mechs.
has a singleplayer campaign and supports online and local coop which is good.
However, it's underrated and has had a small community I think for a while so getting it will boost the online numbers and make it more fun, and quicker matches. Matches are getting quicker to get into because of the sale I think.
I recommend it.

The only Cons I have for this game is that the original price is 30 bucks, but its on sale right now for $3 so buy it you nerds! The last Con is that there is a small player base (also solved by buying this amazing game).
So just buy it already. get the $4 DLC included version since the skins as sick.

+ Nice graphics. The world is pretty and it's great to be able to destroy these buildings!
+ 1-player story mode. It is repetitive and not very long, but at least it exists (and allows you to hit huge monsters with a giant robot!)
+ The feedback from hits and damage is awesome. You can really feel each punch / kick you're sending as if you were in the mecha!
+ A mecha can be controlled by multiple players! This can be pretty fun with friends :)
+ Mecha design is pretty original - and they also have great references to mechas in multiple existing universes :)
+/- The game is pretty fun with other people - which is great only if you have other friends around.
- I don't like the gameplay. There are no specials that don't consume meter, so 90% of the match is punches and kicks. While the footsie game is great, it pushes everyone to go to contact (even ranged fighters), and it really lacks special effects...
- DEAD community. Like, you can't even get matches on the official discord server...
TL;DR: It can be relatively fun if you like sentai / giant robots, and maybe if you have friends to play with. I definitely wouldn't buy it full price but it can be found around for 5 bucks (although imho some party games would better with friends).

[Edit edit: more mehs]
I do enjoy this game! It's pretty fun! Though, I'll just give you a list of Pros+Cons+Mehs:
Pros:
- Responsive controls
- Mech variety
- Weapon variety
- World building is pretty decent
- Good local multiplayer game
- skins are literally handed out for beating story missions
Cons:
- lack of actual movesets and combos (the most difference between the mechs you get is specials and the kick)
- online multiplayer is definitely dead
- story missions are extremely samey
- difficulty in story missions didn't seem to make a difference
- bad PR when launching a free weekend that deterred a lot of potential players
- charged attacks are difficult to distingush
- shielding is kinda pointless
- actual mech stats are not displayed
- mechs aren't categorized in any way when going to select one
- story is very short, payoff seems almost non-existent
- controls not displayed for controllers when in local matches
- some enemies don't feel like threats and are more just, health sponges (the nest things)
- some enemies don't feel like threats and are easily ignored mid mission, (the little pink tick looking things)
- some maps are kinda samey, too small feels like sometimes, other times the map feels too big
- the egypt map sucks, especially the hole bit in the middle of the map
Mehs:
- best if played with friends
- DLC is, kinda cool, ig
- writing could use work
- was slightly over-hyped
the game is pretty good if you are looking for a game to play with your friends or just wanna waste a couple of hours. I feel like there is untapped and wasted potential in the game. I also feel that it is a full product, but more like 75% full being passed off as 100%.
Although, pick this up when it goes on sale. It definitely isn't worth $30 on its own. More like, a $20 game, $30 with all DLC.

the gamestyle is unique and fun, you can tell devs love this game, and made it with love.
but they focused 100% on it being an online game.
but oh my god, the servers are complete trash, i see enemies teleporting from how shitty it is, its annoying when the game depends on which mecha is faster to hit first, or your charge attack is gone.
mic is 24/7 on, you cant mute them, or yourself, lucky you, you get to hear their saltiness IRL as they cry when you beat them.
seriously though, its annoying, and not moderated by a report system= swear as much as possible no one is gonna stop you.
i have encounters hackers too that literally have infinite energy, they just spam their special move since second one and you just should give up
TLDR;
game has potential, game has shitty servers, game has always on mic policy with no report system+ hackers
