Now is the time to experience the dark first-person psychological thriller, set in 1944 Italy, that blurs the lines between reality, superstition and the tragedy of war.
We are also launching a new update.
- Metahuman intro and outro video added for graphical settings below ‘Ultra’, for all PC’s running the Steam version of the game - replacing ‘text’ versions of the prologue and epilogues on machines previously not capable of running Metahuman tech.
- Added support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.1.
- Added support for Intel Xe Super Sampling.

What is AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.1?
FSR 2.1 is an enhanced upscaling algorithm used to and is designed to deliver similar or better than native image quality whilst improving frame rate on supported hardware.
This allows higher resolutions or next generation effects (such as ray tracing) to be enabled to improve visual quality across the board in supported titles - without sacrificing framerate whilst maintaining a playable experience and enhancing certain visual aspects such as fine edges and detail over distance.
This latest implementation of FSR shows additional improvements to upscaling image quality over FSR 2.0 - reducing issues such as ghosting or shimmering.
What hardware supports FSR 2.1?
AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution scales across a broad spectrum of new and older products, including integrated graphics, and is optimized for AMD RDNA™ and AMD RDNA 2™ architecture-based Radeon™ RX 6000 and RX 5000 Series graphics cards. FSR is also supported on select NVIDIA® graphics cards.*
AMD Radeon™ 6000 Series
AMD Radeon™ 6000M Series
AMD Radeon™ 5000 Series
AMD Radeon™ 5000M Series
AMD Radeon™ VII Graphics
AMD Radeon™ RX Vega Series
AMD Radeon™ 600 Series
AMD Radeon™ RX 500 Series
AMD Radeon™ RX 480/470/460 Graphics
AMD Ryzen™ Desktop Processors with AMD Radeon™ Graphics
AMD Ryzen™ Mobile Processors with Radeon™ Graphics
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 30 Series
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 20 Series
NVIDIA® GeForce® 16 Series
NVIDIA® GeForce® 10 Series
*AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution is “game dependent” and is supported on the products listed above if the minimum requirements of the game are met. AMD does not provide technical or warranty support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution enablement on NVIDIA® graphics cards. To prevent over-sharpening, we recommend not to use Radeon™ Image Sharpening with FSR-enabled games.
What impact does FSR 2.1 have on Martha Is Dead?
FSR2.1 is selectable from the settings menu by enabling ‘upscaler’ at the bottom of the page, you will be able to select between 3 visual modes with the upscaler enabled :
- Quality : Highest visual fidelity and highest frame impact
- Performance : Native visual fidelity lowest frame rate impact
- Balanced : Increased visual fidelity over native, small frame rate impact
FSR 1.0 will also remain within the game.
Added support for Intel XeSS
What is Intel Xe Super Sampling?
Intel Xess is similar to AMD’s FSR and Nvidia’s DLSS upscaling solutions - with the benefit of being able to support a wider range of GPU’s across the board.
XeSS isn’t too complicated to understand. Instead of running a game at native resolution (let’s say 4K), it takes a variety of inputs from the game at a lower resolution (like 1080p). Those inputs feed into the XeSS upscaling engine, which includes an AI model to enhance the upscaling. The final result, theoretically, should be an image that looks like the native resolution but with much higher performance.
For specifics, XeSS takes depth, motion, color, and lighting inputs from the game. After performing the upscaling, the final results from these inputs are stored in an internal history. That history feeds data to the next incoming frame, and the cycle continues. While that’s happening, XeSS takes the frame you see and performs temporal anti-aliasing (TAA) to clean up jagged edges. XeSS replaces traditional anti-aliasing, as it can upscale and perform anti-aliasing in the same step.
What hardware supports Intel XeSS?
Intel Arc Alchemist (Xe-HPG)
Intel Xe-LP integrated graphics (11th-generation mobile)
AMD RX 7000 (RDNA 3)
AMD RX 6000 (RDNA 2)
Nvidia RTX 40-series (Ada Lovelace)
Nvidia RTX 30-series (Ampere)
Nvidia RTX 20-series (Turing)
Nvidia GTX 10-series (Pascal)
Using the upscaling technology added in this new update on mid-tier PC rigs running on High Detail and 4k resolution has seen increases of up to 35 FPS average across various chapters - all without a loss of fidelity or detail.
