Enjoyments:
To name a few loot/items aren't too scarce that you struggle. As well as not having having a HUNGER or THIRST meter. That's a nice plus for me.
Gripes:
Sometimes the sounds don't play for certain situations. There is a
Explosive/Propane Zombie
which isn't obviously indicated like other zombies and have unfairly died to a few times.
There is also a Ping Scanner upgrade I'm not to much of a fan of either. [Auto Ping Upgrade].
However, even by that major comparison with the 'survival horror' games in general, I can't really vouch for Zombi for being a really good and notable one. Decent? Comme il faut? Yeah. Kinda.
Alas, PC version Zombi doesn't have any notable hook points at moment. Diseased London? Well, except for some Buckingham Palace interiors, all the scenery that you'll see, be the generic metro stations and sewer drains. All in that dirty gray, eye tormenting colours palette. Even the very dull Vampyr game made some better effort, depicting troubled London. And it's certainly not the game I would address for any proper sightseeing. Variety of weapons? Seriously, I saw that 'pro' point for Zombi, probably, hundreds of times. But wait. Isn't that the game with the constant lack of any kind of ammunition we're talking about? Well, if you have infinite ammo, then yes, there are 3 pistols, two long rifles (one of those is an SMLE carbine, a rare bird in videogames), two SMGs, two assault rifles, 3 shotguns, and a crossbow. Not the worst tools selection, sure, but... For one, the most part of those guns you'll get way too close to the final, meaning, you'll not get the time to use them properly. And two - the inventory interface, while not being the worst in the genre, can't be anyhow described as proper and unblemished. So, you're kinda bound to stack with the basic pistol and cricket bat, from the very start, till the very end.
Initially, I was really satisfied with the complexity of zombies' behavior, and the fighting part of the game. Again, I can easily set it in comparison with RE Village, and maybe (maybe!), it'll be even better at some angles. However, the overall game pace, the constant backtracking, and other minor itches washed away that feeling of satisfaction. After some time invested, Zombi turned out to be rather dull than anything else. And... Sure, that's only my personal, quite biased opinion. I've seen probably too many games, to cherish Zombi for gameplay. But I said it's decent, by the general score, right? Right. And... No. It's far from being alright.
It's constantly crashing during the transition between levels, and, considering the fact you can only save the game in the safe house, you're bound to lose the part of your game progress with every crash. Sure, the reload is working... But then, there are some broken quest lines. You can easily miss some quest triggers, and broke the questline. And in that case, reload will not help - because it's a single save slot game. Once you lose some quest trigger, it's final, you can only restart from the beginning...
Also, speaking about restarts. For the most part of the game, you do some quests, facing some situations that are supposed to be unique. And the endgame? It is ruining it all. The final sequence of the game makes everything that you've accomplished - irrelevant. You're just one of the legion of avatars, that pattern so wrongly beloved by Ubisoft. That thing alone, without even the tech issues, and dull visuals, kills all the drive. Zombi is a single-player-only game! Any multiplayer features (somewhat similar to the Dead Souls 1) were cut off completely during the porting process. So, that feeling of some random guy, shooting some random zombies... Not a strong selling point. Also, if you're an achievement hunter, Zombi is that kind of game that expects you to play it three times through! You can't get the badge for chicken mode, completing it on normal, and you'll not get the normal badge, struggling it through the survival difficulty.
In the end, Zombi is just not good enough to be recommended. Technical issues are quite severe, but, even if there wouldn't be any, it's still some generic title made by Ubisoft standards. Except, it's not even a proper open world with some sightseeing value. As the result, my mark is 5/10 - despite the fact that the first hour or two is not so bad.

Pros -
Good atmosphere and setting
Satisfying weapons
Tough but fair enemies
Cons -
Unavoidable crashes
Infrequent saves
Erratic performance
It's an alright game, but don't bother if you value your time wasted on replaying huge sections of the story.

Graphics look amazing while also running at a High FPS of a max of 130-160FPS on a GTX 1650 This game could run on a nugget!
The game also has a very good soundtrack and story line, i almost listen to the soundtrack just doing my homework and i can't get over the story line.
The game also has a very well fitted atmosphere and i still get spooked even just playing it, i'll Tab out and message my friend and ill hear a ambient zombie and ill get scared.
It might seem boring to be stuck in just a few areas and not having that open-world freedom but the story and atmosphere make up for that, I mean who wan'ts to walk for 5 Minutes in the sewer each time they want to travel Not me.
The game might have not been so good at this time of year in 2021 but back in 2014 This was a gem and fans who played it back on the WiiU i know you still play this game.
I highly recommend this game too people, Overall rating (8.5/10)

If you're a zombie sucker like me and got your moneys worth off of Dead Island and Dying light this is a solid pick.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2632169941
You start as a survivor in London trying to make ends meet and survive the recent apocalyptic events.Story is very basic but i appreciate it trying hard to keep you interested.Game has a unique death system, that when you die, you lose your character and the skills he/she developed permanently. Then with a new player you can get back and loot your stuff back.Oh and zombies, even with predictable pattern moves, can easily overrun you and take you out with 4-5 scratches/bites .
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2632162884
You have your safehouse where you get back from missions or expeditions to gather stuff. There you can upgrade your weapons and use the tunnels for fast transportation given that you have unlocked each on seperately .
You map is divided in regions, that have a very metroidvania feel and reward going back to previous locations and unlocking stuff with your upgraded arsenal. You also have a scanner with marks items and loot.

Game's graphics are great even for today's standards with some amazing fog effects and a filter that suits the game's tone perfectly.Sound design is immersive and well done as well.
Yes, combat especially melee, gets repetitive.Guns blazing just isn't an options because ammo is EXTREMELY rare and highly suggested to be used only when cornered from multiple zombies.
Game felt ''easy'' for almost half of it,but there's 1 mission especially scary with very dim light and screamers rushing at your from all directions and also 2 sequences where you are cornered in a tight area with multiple zombies thrown at you non stop. These latter instances were very taxing and tedious, but lovely placed giving you a true sense of horror and fight for survival.
In conclusion ZOMBI is not perfect or up to todays standards. But a very worthwhile

I will start by saying there are som pretty anoying things in this game.
1, your start pistol and bat is always in the inventory and cannot be removed disprite finding better weapons, and inventory is very scarse.
2, There seems to be just one ending that I can tell so no real choises to make
3, Inventory mannagement is clumbsy to say the least.
All that said I found the game intertaining for 19 eur - 17 hrs is not bad. I think I pretty much doubled back and collcted everything so maybe its more like a 12 hrs game.
I did find it pretty spooky at times, which is what good zombiegames do, combat is a bit chonky but enjoyable enough. The precition of weapons are dismal though even at maximum skill.
The atmusphere is well done and there were pleanty of weapons and upgrades, though each weapon can only be upgraded once in each category. Also ammo is rediculesly scarse for the desert eagle and crossbows so I never used them. 80% of the game shotgun and start pistol

This game kinda has a strong reputation for being mediocre, and it's not too far from the truth imo. But at the same time, I think you can enjoy it if you approach it with caution. For one, you have to accept that the game only looks about as good as a midrange PS360 era game. Even on the Wii U it looked outdated, with a good sense of darkness and gloominess being one of the only highlights of the graphics. At least this makes the game able to run on even a potato.
The gameplay actually fares a bit better. It's not spectacular per say, but I found it quite satisfying to fight zombies and loot. Making hard choices of what items to keep in your limited inventory was fun to me. I also quite enjoy carefully clearing an area of zombies trying to use as little resources as possible, if you find yourself hoarding ammo and healing items in games, you might like this game. As far as the gamepad features go, they've mostly been adapted using picture-in-picture.I It's a bit clunky, but far from useless. You can still squint and imagine this game as not being a Wii U port.
I also gotta give some credit to the scare factor. It's not super scary all the time, but I do enjoy how it keeps you on your toes. The game is surprisingly good at placing zombies in situations where you don't expect them, it caught me off guard more than I expected. It's not super hard, but it's pretty good at messing you up if you thread carelessly.
Now, here's the major problem. Presumably because of some broken DRM, the game will crash on startup. Unless you put Ubisoft Connect into offline mode before starting the game, and you have to do that everytime you want to play this game. It's a pain and honestly unacceptable for a game being sold, and I know Ubisoft still remembers this game as it was put on sale at a time where the DRM issue was in place. So Ubisoft is knowingly selling a game that can't even start without workarounds because of their DRM. If it was $10 or less I could maybe accept it, but it's not atm. And even if it gets a price cut, it's still a major fail from Ubisoft. I sadly can't recommend this version because of that.
If you can get the console versions at $20 or less, I can cautiously recommend it as a B-grade game. If approached with lowered expectations, you might enjoy the game for its atmosphere, but you must expect something that looks and feels like a 10 year old game

It installs ubisoft connect to play the game. That already sucks.
Game crashes often. Lost 2 hours of game. To save the game you need to sleep. So you forget to save the game.
Gameplay is medicare at best. Nothing special, shoot zombi.
Story sucks. Story telling sucks. Characters suck.
Graphics are bad. Lacks color and post processing effects. I had to install reshade to even look at the game.
Game is super linear. Tries to give the feeling of a open world game like a resident evil game but level design is really bad.
I bought this game way ago because of nostalgia, I wish I didn't.

Zombi game is one of the games that I've been wanted to play for so long because the plot of game was so intriguing to me at the time. Additionally, I didn't have Wii U when it first came out therefore I didn't have the chance to play it. After I play the game I found it is decent zombie experience game, maybe at the time I was really into the zombie genre that is the reason why I like it but in today's point of view I found it mediocre. Moreover, my opinion on pros and cons of Zombi:
*Pros
- Immersing Story and Narration.
- Representation of the post apocalyptic environment
- Balance between Horror and Action.
- Adequate amount of Puzzles and Exploration
*Cons
- Games has many bugs/glitches
- Game crashes at the opening sequence(*Solved by putting ubisoft connect in offline mode*)
- After long game sessions it softlock or crashes itself. You can't event open task manager.(*Solved by pressing CTRL+ESC then Force quitting Steam from hidden icons at right bottom corner*)
- Basically, Pc port of the game is broken. But it is nothing do with the fundamentals of the game. It is the problem of the Ubisoft not optimizing the game enough for the PC.
In conclusion, I find Zombi very hard for the player who is just want to try this game for the first time, because even the crash at the opening sequence made my almost refund the game. I was trying every fix but it was not working however, I found as solution in Steam's discussion. Lastly, nostalgia of the game kept me in the game and made me overlook the frustrating parts of the game.
Note: For the people who want to play this game for the first time, ready for inconveniences you will come across throughout the game. If you want to try a Zombie experience that takes place in London, you can give it a try.
Sincerely,
NewmanB

I am very experienced with the game and story...
I played ZOMBIU about a year after when it was released and I played it non-stop.
I earned all achievements on U-Play and unlocked every achieveable reward.
When I picked up the PC port a couple of years later I couldn't stand it.
The Wii U version of the game utilises the GamePad for scanning, scoping, map, inventory management / backpag and the incredibly immersive sonar ping whilst the action of the game isn't interrupted on the main screen,
The Wii U created the perfect immersion which was all dropped for the stupid PC and PlayStation port...
The Game itself is my second favorite videogame to date as it has a unique story, perfect atmosphere and with I'ts death and consequence system it provides the player a unique sence for survival.
If you wish to play the game itself and enjoy the story then I would recommend the PC or PlayStation port... BUT
if you have a WIIU at hand or know someone who still happens to have one hooked up I say get a copy of ZOMBIU and feel the perfect immersion the port can not provide.

Outside of that, the keyboard mapping is awkward. However, this could have been fixed if they toggled the tutorial to show what key to press. Regardless if you are on keyboard or mouse the game shows the instructions via the gamepad controls. (So many games toggle between depending on what you use. Even Indie game studios get this right, so it does not seem that hard).
The game runs fine and looks good once you change the resolution in the game settings. Plays better than what it did on the WiiU.

LAUNCH CRASH FIX
I saw this fix on some forum that I can't seem to find right now. Don't remember the name, but kudos to you bro
For the game to not crash on launch you just need to go to Uplay (now called Ubisoft Connect), go to Settings:
. in general , uncheck the box about enabling overlay for supported games;
. in network , check the box to always start Ubisoft Connect in offline mode.
You're done, now you can launch the game from Steam without issues. Keep in mind the game suddently crashes sometimes during loading screens. What can you say...
--------------------
Now as for the review per say, the game has a nice, eery atmosphere even though it is way overdramatic with the creepy songs. Sometimes you encounter 1 single zombie, which is not a threat, but the game pushes the dramatic songs so much it kinda feels ridiculous sometimes. Graphics are not good, they are tolerable... human faces though, are horrible. Weapon sounds are awful. The story though is very good, there are historical parallels with the Black Plague which I always love this about Ubisoft games
In summary, worth buying during sale

can't get past the startup screen, here you go but now your controller won't work
can't open fullscreen, done but try changing resolution to match and we're back to desktop
finally got that game to start, whoops can't advance on with missions
its unacceptable how broken this port is and continues to be all these years later

The player is a survivor of a zombie apocalypse in London. Contacted by the Prepper, a mysterious figure who tasks you to maintain his safe house in order to be properly prepared for survival in this new destroyed London..
There are 2 modes, standard and survival. The difference between this 2 modes is that in standard if you die you will get a new character to keep playing but all loot you had is gone. In survival you have to restart the whole game if you die.
The voice acting is ok, the graphics are dated. Zombi can crash from time to time, there a few game breaking bugs. Gameplay is repetitive.
Zombi has not aged well, it was also on its initial release on console not a top game. I would not recommend to get this game anymore.
Uplay is required.
Sounds 6/10
Graphics 4/10
Gameplay 4/10
Atmosphere 5/10

For a non indie game I expected better.
Eventually found a non bugged save from before where mine broke and finished the game. Honestly, it would be a decent game if it weren't for the game breaking bugs and the inability to make multiple saves, (in case of game breaking bugs).

Intriguing concept brought down by lousy PC port
Warning: If you want to change resolution in game without crashing when you have 120/144Hz monitor, you need to launch the game on 60/75Hz monitor/TV , change it there and than you can launch it with new resolution on your primary monitor. Took me a looong time and lots of digging to find this solution.
ZOMBI is a game that frustrates me to no end. From inability to even run the game in 1080p due to crashing, to develepers not giving you any solutions and just sending you to Ubisoft for support which you will never recieve to absolutely botched pc port. And when you actually get to play the game, you find there are is no real option menu, just one with bare minimum and in- game, you are welcome by ugly HUD that you can not move or turn off.
So why do I recommend it? Because as much as I hate how they botched the PC port, in the end I did enjoy the game, even with its myriad of flaws. It still offers some interesting concepts like zombies in London, different characters and rogue-like style of difficulty. I just wish it was done better.
Pros:
+ Combat is fairly engaging
+ Selection of weapons is quite large¨
+ Level design
+ Story ( as limited as it is)
+ Mechanics
Cons:
- As mentioned above - technical state
- Bugs, glitches and crashes
- Unpolished
- Graphics looked washed out and ugly

Most parts of the game are scripted so you might feel like you're just playing a ordinary fetch quest game,
But this isn't the case when it comes down to how you handle the quest you could go in guns blazing and risk every bloody blighter heading to your location for a free snack. Or try to stealth your way around and use the Environment to your advantage.
Pros-
Good storyline
Weapons are decent
Zombies come in all types of appearance/decay
I shit myself a few times due to the soundtrack
Dying isn't the end but it sure as shit feels like it.
cons-
Some weapons are pretty much the same as the other one
the game can suffer from some bugs but I only came across one
Sometimes you can die from a grenade or explosion you were nowhere near
I noticed without the reshade I use thanks to the guides there is a strange line that spreads across the screen
No co op or Multiplayer.
All and all this game is solid for someone who simply wants a zombie survival game set in the UK you take control of average joe's or if you're lucky a Bobby Military officer or Guardsman (Tho I have yet to ever spawn as one myself) It would be amazing to see a remaster of this game with co op.
7/10 Gameplay
4/10 Weapon wise (most are the same just reskinned with some extra traits)
8/10 Horror
10/10 God save the queen
P.s
Fuck the Nursery

The game has been out for awhile and yet it feels abandoned. They should have fixed all these bugs by now.

I realized that I was just forcing myself to keep playing in the hope that it would pay off, and it kept not paying off.
The best part of the experience was uninstalling Uplay afterwards.

I think the world would have been a better place if Ubisoft stopped doing their samey copypasted open world games that sucks and returned to non-open world games again, at leas there they took risks and did something other than just creating a playground and shovering it with dozens of meaningles repetitive tasks without barely any good context, story or variety, Zombi has many flaws and I would call it a mediocre game but there are many details there that I liked, I had fun and finished it in a day which Imo is enough for a game like this, it entertained me for a fine time (around 7 hours I think) without overstaying its welcome, now lets talk about it.
Zombi was originally a WiiU launch title that looked amazing due to how it used WiiU's gamepad features I never got the chance to play it there but Im sure the ones who got the chance to had a good time with it, here the PC version is pretty much a reworked port without the gamepad interactivity obviously, a few changes here and there and overall better performance, first of all if youre looking for a good story theres none here, its just a simple setting with a context that works in explaining whats going on, the game shines on the ideas it has on its gameplays, you can choose permadeath or you can choose that whenever you die another character takes your place, their physical appearance, sounds and even abilities change so avoid dying, I played on the standard mode which means that theres no permadeath, died 3 times through my playtime, game is pretty challenging,I also found that the game had a good sense of atmosphere and they got the survival aspect of it right, I was constantly looking everywhere for ammo and supplies and you will need it because its scarce, a shame is that the gunplay is just serviceable and your weapons lacks impact, the sound effects are pathetic and low but I dont think it ruins the game, for a game that I paid so little during a sale and that managed to hold my interest for 7 hours straight I think its enough to deserve a recomendation, its a mediocre game but as someone who likes this type of survival horror-like take on games especially in the zombie genre, I just found this interesting, granted that the WiiU version with the gamepad functionality would have been nuts but the PC version is good enough to give it a chance if youre not sick of the zombie genre already, also theres enough potential here for a good sequel, its up for ubisoft to do it but they'd rather do their sixth farcry, twientieth assassins creed and tenth open world military tom clancy games again so its better to just give up on ubisoft's removal of their heads from their butts, which have been stuck there pretty much 8 years by now.

ZOMBI
Loved the game - great tense on the edge atmosphere ( it's refreshing to see a game where you fight only regular enemies ) / cons - too short , clunky interface - highly recommended zombie experience !

This will be a bit particular and not everyone's thing -- but the AUDIO. Ubisoft really outdid themselves with the audio in this game. I have a 5.1 surround sound setup and I swear, half the experience comes from the well-done audio. The cues for the intense music, the jump scares, the sound of the pipes, the water dripping, the low frequencies of being underground, the subtle background noises that vary upon each level. Man, I could go on. Mostly because it's just flat out impressive as far as what you can expect from Ubisoft. in general having the ability to survive off audio queues alone is extremely impressive.
Game gets a 9/10 from me. One point is taken away due to some bugs that seem to be in the game still after some time. Everything else is awesome enough to drown the bugs out, which in my experience, are very minimal.

But bored me thought it would be a funny, easy and kind of dying light / L4D game.
Well...almost right on that one..only difference is that this game scares the ever living crap out of me xD
It's a good and exiting game, you never know if a Zombie will come up behind your ass and bite you in it ( not that it will ever happens...the prefer brains ). You find upgrades for your guns you find life packs, food, ammo and weapons.
Don't know what else to say, but It's totally worth the money =)

1) Try to forget the important quest item and exit the location. When you decide to get back there, it will mysteriously disappear. (Oil Canister/Refuel the generator quest).
2) Think you have enough C4s? Blow 7 walls throughout you walkthrough and stuck on the 8th one. Sorry, forgot to tell you, there were only 7 C4s in the entire game.
3) Survive for 8 hours in the Survival Mode (it's not really that difficult) to be accidentally one-touch killed by a single zombie.
4) Give-up and don't be foolish enough to start the game for the 4th time.
Such an unpolished game, Ubisoft, Such an awful attitude!

ATTENTION: if you are wanting to truly experience this game, then I highly, HIGHLY recommend the original Wii U version. This sorry excuse for a port does not do this game justice.
Before I explain why, however, there are legitimately some positive aspects that I think this game has over the original. The obvious one being the silky smooth frame rate, sharpened textures, and the drastically reduced load times. I also really like the new melee weapons, the achievements, and the ability to toggle a normal flashlight, and a flashlight that sees farther but consumes more battery (It's a neat idea). However...this is where my positives end.
Let's just get this out of the way: this is an incredibly sloppy, inferior port of 2012's ZombiU, and I'm not just referring to the complete absence of a leaderboard, online functionality in general, or multiplayer.
In the graphical department, despite sharpening up a few textures, the game barely looks any better than the Wii U version. Hardly any graphical enhancements have been made, if any at all. Heck, some graphical aspects have actually been REMOVED from the Wii U version (such as the lens smearing effect on the camera).
The biggest thing that made the Wii U version so terrifying was the gamepad. It constantly enriched the experience, forcing you to multitask by trying to keep track of the gamepad and the TV to make sure nothing is sneaking up behind you. With that element removed, most if not all of the tension is just completely alleviated, with most of the action just haphazardly slapped onto the center of the screen, occasionally blocking your view of what's behind or in front of you. Some tasks that felt perfectly natural with a touchscreen in the Wii U version (such as lock picking and entering codes to unlock doors) feel somewhat stilted and awkward performing them on a standard game controller.
The stamina for melee weapons has also been removed, and I really don't get this change either. In the original, the more you swung the cricket bat, the slower your swings would become. This made the cricket bat incredibly unreliable against hoards (as it should be), and it offered a bit of risk if you happened to miss the strike. With this element completely gone, your swings are the exact same speed throughout. That, combined with the other additional more powerful melee weapons, means that most encounters turn into a complete joke, allowing you to effortlessly cheese most hoards with melee weapons and lessening the value of guns as a whole, even on normal difficulty.
On top of all of this, I constantly ran into numerous bugs and glitches during my playthrough that simply weren't in the Wii U version at all. Whacking downed corpses or finishing off infected with a melee weapon will often cause said corpses to leap 50 feet into the air like contorted trapeze artists, often times getting stuck on ceilings, walls, the floor, or in most cases, flying out of the map and disappearing entirely (potentially game breaking if they happen to contain an important item needed to progress the story, but in that case I guess you can just restart from where you last saved. I haven't personally had that happen to me though). On top of this, audio bugs were present as well: characters' sound clips cutting off and restarting again, zombie voice clips being played far more than it should (to the point where in one instance in the supermarket it legitimately sounded like there were thousands of infected trying to bang on a door all at once), and one of the main mechanics of the game (the flashlight being able to make the infected easily spot you) only really worked when it felt like it, meaning I could just effortlessly walk past everything half of the time. Mind you, nothing particularly gamebreaking (I was able to finish the campaign and all), but it just goes to show that Ubisoft loves breaking things that already weren't broken.
Other minor annoyances I had were the run button (it seemed like you had to mash down incredibly hard on the stick to actually make the character run) and the fact that there really wasn't any drive to put a lot of extra content in this port to make it at least somewhat stand on it's own (a handful of melee weapons and...that's about it). If you don't own a Wii U and don't plan on getting one anytime soon, then this version is...fine enough. It's not an AWFUL game by any means, and it at least still manages to deliver some scares, especially near the very end. But for everyone else, go and get the Wii U version. It's superior in nearly every way.
What a miserable port of an awesome game.

Okay, so the graphics might not be up to snuff these days but the gameplay and atmosphere especially can't be beaten and for one main reason - the stealth options. Sneaking past, laying mines and then making yourself obvious just outside the blast radius - never gets old!
The only downside is your guide, 'The Prepper'. I'm ex-British Army myself and if the creators' intent was to make him an annoying 'been-there, done-that' type then they succeeded. Mind you, he was Royal Signals ;-)
