Do you like cute balls of a gooey substance making cute and funny noises?
Do you like a consumeristic, capitalistic world that requires you to mindlessly follow orders like a perfect cog in the machine, destroying natural resources and killing your own planet in the incessant need to produce more and more product, to make more and more success, to make more and more money, so that mindless consumers can consume product?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you might like World of Goo, a puzzle game that requires you to stack balls of goo to reach the goal of the level!
Featuring: Capitalism™

Overall, I recommend this for a fun, low stress strategy game that does not take too much to run.

Having played it through not-so-legal means before, it feels right to finally pay for it. Thank you for all the fond memories 2D Boy/Tomorrow Corporation.
So when is 2 coming out?

To me, this game has a unique charm to it. The physics in this game is pretty good, puzzles in this game are not too hard, and the music is phenomenal.

World of Goo is a masterpiece of a puzzle adventure game. The story is cute, puzzle mechanics are fulfilling, and the music is out of this world! Kyle Gabler is a genius.
I really wanted them to make a sequel to this game.

There are plenty of levels, and they are all rather unique. It's challenging, but not unfair.
However, this game is not perfect - the graphical style, in my opinion, is rather unappealing and the physics-based mechanics often lead to unstable solutions to puzzles (by that I mean sometimes they work, and sometimes they don't).
If you're looking for a physics-based puzzle game, this is for you. Otherwise, I feel like you might be able to find a bigger bang for your buck elsewhere.

Information / Review English
World of Goo is a Puzzle game developed by 2D Boy.
Gameplay / Story
The game is divided into 4 chapters and an epilogue, whereby each of the chapters uses a different scenery and therefore plays differently than the previous chapters. A bonus chapter actually planned for the European market has been postponed until further notice, as the game appeared earlier than planned. Within each level, a certain number of goos must be sucked in through a pipe from a given amount. This is done by connecting the goos together and, depending on the level, building a bridge towards this pipe, for example.
In the so-called tower-of-goo mode, the goos that have been collected too much in the course of the chapters can be assembled into a tower and compared with other players on the Internet.
Pro
+ suitable for both hardcore and casual gamers
+ very varied puzzles
+ Chapters tell a story
+ easy to learn, difficult to master
+ simple controls
+ coherent atmosphere
+ Achievements and trading cards
Contra
- could use more puzzles
- The choice of goo balls is sometimes a bit fiddly
Conclusion
World of Goo combines style and substance and also impresses with its wealth of variants. Clear buy recommendation.
Information / Review Deutsch
World of Goo ist ein Puzzle-Spiel, welches von 2D Boy entwickelt wurde.
Gameplay / Geschichte
Pro
+ sowohl für Hardcore- als auch Gelegenheitsspieler geeignet
+ sehr abwechslungsreiche Puzzles
+ Kapitel erzählen eine Geschichte
+ leicht zu lernen, schwer zu meistern
+ simple Steuerung
+ stimmige Atmosphäre
+ Errungenschaften und Trading Cards
Kontra
- könnte mehr Puzzles vertragen
- Auswahl der Goo- Bälle manchmal etwas fummelig
Fazit
World of Goo verbindet Stil und Substanz, und beeindruckt auch durch sein Variantenreichtum. Klare Kaufempfehlung.

I still get chills hearing Kyle Gabler's soundtrack.
The game has one of the most unique and remarkable stories I've ever seen, the mechanics are very fun, the level design is brilliant and the art style is always flawless.
I started playing it when online ranking was still around and the Tower of Goo was an amazing feature. I spent countless hours perfecting and admiring it.

The game's atmosphere is perfect, with solid overall direction including its quirky visuals and memorable soundtrack. This is one of my all time favourite puzzle games and I believe I've now fully completed it on every platform on which it's available, such is the lasting appeal. If you want to approach it casually, the standard completion criteria is well balanced. If you wanna come at this hardcore, the OCD completion criteria will drive you to perfection.
There are only a few very minor negative points. First, there are 1-2 semi-cheesy levels where the difficulty has a bit of an RNG component but I'd argue their inclusion is actually a good thing, because finishing them with OCD criteria is as cathartic as the challenge is frustrating. Second, there appears to be slight compression static on a few of the game's audio tracks.

A fun puzzle game from the past, bought it back on Steam and had a fun weekend with it.
Its prob more or a nostelaga buy, and I would highly recommend if on sale!!
There is a story that goes with the Goo and its just enough to be able to follow
The gameplay above shows you the first few levels
Pros
Its on sale and you remember how much fun you had in the past
Its still a fun puzzle game as I had to re-think alot of the ways I build up my Goo
Nice music and sound effects
Polished and no bugs
Cons
Its not a 100 hour kind of game and most likely won't replay unless its been a while
No real issues with the game, except the spikes keep popping my goo!

-Some levels require quick reactions in order to solve, which rather goes against the whole tone of puzzle games for me. I prefer taking all the time I need to think and plan things out.
-Many levels don't even show you where the goal is or what you're supposed to do in absence of them. I'm not asking the game to hold my hand, but it would be nice to at least see the whole level so I can plan my solution out rather building blindly.
-Trying to get hold of a specific goo ball in a tight overcrowded structure is incredibly frustrating - a tab target switching ability might not go amiss.
-Finally, luck has an annoying presence especially if you're a completionist. In a genre that requires you to think outside the box to get the best results, RNGsus throwing a monkey wrench into the physics engine kind of hinders that.

OCD! OCD!
*heh* ;-)This game is, in my opinion at least, one of the all time classic physic sim games out there. Have beat it more times than I can recall; but apparently was long before Steam had achievements! (324 hours on record after all) Without a doubt in my mind it's worth every penny.
Play it through and enjoy it without focusing on the OCD requirements. Unless getting the OCD was a happy accident. Otherwise you'll be chasing moves and seconds, whilst pulling your hair out, vs just enjoying the game and the story. THEN go back and drive yourself insane with many of the seemingly impossible OCD requirements. And without cheating by looking up a guide. :-D

The gameplay is great and feels smooth most of the time, keeps the gears in your brain turning, is always introducing neat new mechanics and ideas, and pairs wonderfully with the artistic side of the game to keep you engaged.
Something about this game is really special, to me at least, and I absolutely recommend giving it a try.

It's everything a game should be. Simple to play, yet complex to master. A funny story, but without getting in the way. A focus on game play, not just showing off the latest hardware.
There is a balance to world of goo rarely seen in gaming these days. You can approach it purely for relaxation and put in minimal effort to move through the landscapes, or you can drive yourself insane trying to perfect the OCD tier challenges.
They even managed to put in a meta free form puzzle that gets larger and more complex based on how well you do on the individual levels.
Maybe you won't put 100+ hours into this, but you could easily put 10+ and still want more.
Also note: I played this for years (bought it direct from the developer) before buying it again on Steam, so my hours here do not reflect the real amount of time I've put into it.

I really like this game! I love the designs of the backgrounds and the goo balls. I love how each of the different types of goo have their strengths and weaknesses, the story, the music, the emotion! I also like the jokes in the game.
A bit like Angry Birds, it has very original level design and structure, and a bit like Subnautica, the backgrounds are absolutely stunning and beautiful. This game will challenge players and make better problem solvers. Definitely play this game.
