Schade uns Geld!

The setting and lore is done well, but the actual stories are thin. Areas become repetitive, as the same templates are reused. Sneaking around is not fun. Combat gets samey and boring fast.
The combat and ability system is what confuses me the most. You have so many abilities, power-ups, combos - but you will never use them, apart from the slow-mo dodge-roll. Combat just moves way too fast, and you only have a few action points to use for each battle. There are items scattered around arenas that seem like you should be using them - oil barrels, exploding lanterns, etc - but at the pace the combat occurs, you don't have time to spot them and time an attack. Especially with the zoomed-out isometric view.
It almost feels like they were going for a turn-based system originally, then pivoted to real-time, without considering the consequences.

It isn't your typical FPS type Immersive Sim and the top down, controller/ context HUD does take getting used to but once you get past that, the game shines. It plays fine with a mouse and keyboard too.
You can clearly see the team put mechanics and decisions first and the graphics, art style and writing support it beautifully. Honestly an absolute banger that is the game equivalent of a page turner.

Soundtrack is awesome, too.
You will play 5 different stories with different characters.
Just be aware that when you finish the story, you will loose all money and equiptment for a while.
There are perks that you carry over to the next character, and others, that need to be obtained separately for each character. So you don't start from zeto.
You can have a party of three characters, your char and two ai chars.
Within this party you also can recruite your old characters from previous stories and this get your equiptment back.
Anyway, if you want to get a good starting equiptment for each character, you will have to read a guide so you know when your current storyline ends. Before finishing your storyline, you can pack some equip into the bags of your horse. When you then buy a horse with your new char, you will get the equip a bit earlier. I also think you can use the bank to do that. (So don't just sell all the good stuff, keep a few things for your next storyline. ;) )
RECOMMENDED!
I had a lot of fun so far.

-Combat
-Stealth
-Non-lethal options
There is still room for improvements, but I recommend the game anyway.

Oh, also forced data collection is an extremely shady move, especially when the game is completely singleplayer, and it collects location data & IP information, definitely avoid it until you can at least tell them to pound sand with an option to disable that.

Now for why it was so terrible:
- Controller will simply stop working in game menus. You can get around this by switching to mouse and keyboard.
- Enemy and companion AI is very wonky (5-10 second windows of standing still midcombat, teleporting onto roofs).
- In addition to this, enemies can see you through walls and other solid objects.
- Trespassing zones vs non-trespassing zones are not labeled separately e.g. identical buildings where one building would be trespassing and one wouldn't be. Making this impossible-to-avoid mistake can tank your reputation and make NPCs unwilling to communicate.
- Controls felt unforgiving to the point of being unfun. Tried both controller and keyboard and neither felt comfortable or intuitive to use.
- Camera was the biggest enemy. It's possible to see inside buildings by aiming inside, but there is not enough control to make that consistently work for the player. Similar situations arise when you attempt to go up or downstairs.
- Lack of map. The mini-map was a great feature, but not being able to see the entire map made boring areas into insufferable areas.
- The vendor system is cumbersome. The idea of having different vendors for different items is fun, but when none of them have unique dialogue or any questlines, it just turns a simple chore into dozens of minutes of footwork in a town that you don't have a map for.
- Menus could use an overhaul. Sort functions are minimal (example: can't sort by sell value) and the blacksmith upgrade menu doesn't preview any blacksmith upgrades without materials. Menu complaints might seem trivial, but in a game where so much of your time can be spent in menus (think Skyrim) then it could have used more love.
