Lost a 50 hr save, and I bought the deluxe edition. Now I can't even jump right into the dlc map for which I paid long time ago. WTF?

So far so good. I like this game way better than TH:COTW.

It's less tedious to play and the animals feel (to me, I've only been hunting once irl, but I live near a lot of wild animals) like they respond a little better than they do in Call of The Wild. This game also runs infinitely better so far. The draw distance is massive, like, I've spotted animals from hundreds of meters away.

The audio has a couple of issues, like footsteps lingering half a second after you stop walking, or the water not making any sloshing or reaction sounds when you walk in and through it.
The game also has a slightly limited selection of firearms so far, but that's fine. It's still playable and they still have enough variety for the different needs that you'll have hunting.

Oh, and this game gives you a car for FREE. So instantly it gets more brownie points against Call of The WIld.

Overall great game, excited to see what becomes of it in the future.

I am praying this game stays in development. I just cant get into call of the wild for some reason. this one is easier for me and its just dang pretty. i love it. I think its the best hunting game right now sespite a few missing pieces and rough edges.

Why we can't have a functional quests in online multiplayer??? Why you are advertise this game as online co op if there isn't an option to do missions together? I'm kinda disappointed... Mehanics of this game as well as graphics are fine but I'm not encouraged to play it anymore becouse we can't do quests with friends :/

Disclaimer: The following review is written by a person who can't stand hand-holding, multiplayer games, or non-immersive simulators. I have not played this game on multiplayer.

Wow! I avoided this game for a while because there are some very strongly worded reviews for it. I should have ignored them!

Apparently, there is a large group of people out there who want an arcade hunting game. That's not me. From the get-go I turned off all the Hunter Sense nonsense and this game has been a blast.

IMHO, this game is vastly superior to COTW. There's a genetics system, you have to really think about your kills as it affects the herds in the area, and oh my god you can actually see for long distances. The distance thing is so great that I spent a non-trivial amount of time just checking out the parallax effect when looking at distant mountains. I'm all about immersion, so the fact that they nail so many of the important things like parallax is awesome. The animals move way more like real animals; herds move at semi-random paces; even the sounds that they make are far less repetitive and I'm able to triangulate them way easier than in COTW.

The terrain is gorgeous, and actually affords you tons of vantage points to camp out on. COTW has this very muddy terrain and you're able to walk up sheer mountains. None of that stuff in Way of the Hunter. You have to actually look around and plan out routes like a real person. Even if I mess up a shot, the environment is gorgeous enough that it's not the end of the world because I get to take a short hike to a new position, which is very enjoyable.

My one nitpick is that the tutorial/hints do a bad job telling you that you ABSOLUTELY MUST investigate need zones or else it appears that game won't spawn at normal rates. You can't just wander around waiting to find a big herd, your character apparently needs to see signs that they exist before they appear in the area. Maybe I'm wrong about this, but it seems to be the case.

My last praise will be that this game clocks in at just about ~10 GB. Compare that to the 70+ GB monstrosity that is COTW. Some will see this as a bad thing, thinking that GB == features, but the discerning immersion enjoyer will know this is the result of a much more streamlined and natural simulation, and it shows. Oh and did I mention you don't have to micromanage your ammo? Hallelujah for small miracles.

Devs, how can I throw more money at you? Y'all have nailed the calm-yet-intense hunting simulation I've been looking for and I want to see this game flourish as much as possible. Thank you!

Gotta be honest, call of the wild is better. This game has a lot of potential though, I'd like it if they added character customization (clothes and stuff, not just camo clothes, but like flannel shirts and jeans, stuff like that.), It would also be nice if the predators charged you, possibly even hunt you sometimes. A lot needs to change for the multiplayer to be fun. Also, the game is kind of expensive for what it is. I'll recommend it though.
