Where can i start describing this expierience?

It may be a rather old game (2016) but it is worth gold!
I loved the first game and just had to buy it now where its on sale,
I recommend buying the Gold edition for 20€ instead of 100€ because its worth it so far,
i will update this review the more i play the game

Flache Story trifft sehr unperformantes Spiel. Die Ladezeiten sind exorbitant, trotz NVME SSD. Und bei der Story ist ein Call of Duty ein literarisches Meisterwerk. Bin sehr enttäuscht, anderseits zeigt es wieder die kreative Arbeit von Ubisoft

I cannot recommend this game enough! This is the most fun I have ever had in an open-world game. The animations are gorgeous, the music top-notch, the story delightful. This game made me laugh out loud more times than I can count and downright giddy during some of the missions.

I got the gold version of this game so I got all of the DLC missions and a few cosmetics. If you enjoy the base game, the DLC missions are definitely a great addition to the game.

I recommend waiting to get this during a sale, but it is well worth the full price if you don't want to wait.

I think it's really underrated game by Ubisoft... I played many hours with the first and I just dropped my jaw how cool is the second...

Better story, better hacks and better graphics and better game play! This game has evolve to the next level...

I.ve got 41 hours inside and never repeated or grind any part of the game just going trough the mission...

If can you buy it for some discount prize don't hesitate just buy and try...

Thank you!

Excellent GTA style game where you're the hackers fighting against the oppressing, freedom hating ctOS and Blume!

Good story, fun characters, San Francisco Bay is beautiful. NPC dialogue and casual pedestrian chatter is hilarious!

Hack your way to glory! Pick it up on sale for maximum value - $9.99 for about 40-50 hours of anarchist fun!

Watch Dogs 2 is one of my favourite games!!

With 140 hours on PlayStation and 50 hours currently (of review) on PC. I can safely say this game is very enjoyable and still is now. The story wasn't the most meaningful but for sure was fun. The game has a big enough map, which is full of detail and has iconic places to visit. Simply cruising down the roads of San Francisco is a pleasure. The map is full of life and very beautiful.

Great game but has a really short (also a good one) story if you skip most part of the secondary activities.
I really enjoyed the graphics and travelling around San Francisco while having some very good memories from San Fierro's times of GTA San Andreas.

A piece of rubbish, compared to the Watch Dogs 1. The storyline is just childish, and the guides/tutorials offer no positive feedback. Hacking cameras or causing explosions do not help at all given that once spotted the guards come in from everywhere. Ubi if you want to make some sneaking game please do it properly. If Watch Dogs series are just like this I would rather relive Altair or Ezio again.

The continuation of Watch Dogs, It is overall a good game and with a little extra complexity and more fun task to do within the city. The Story is much better in my opinion compared to the first and has more unique hacks and features. If you love 3D printing and customization of your goods this game will keep you busy for a while.

8/10 would play again.

Sadly the main reason for the Thumbs Down is Ubisoft's insistence on using the malware Denuvo. The first game didn't have it so there should of been no reason to suddenly add it for the sequel.

Performance wise there were a few framerate issues and longer than normal loading times. Nothing that really spoiled game play, but it was noticeable.

As far as the game goes, it's... Okay. Doesn't really do much more that the first game but it is far less buggy. If you played (and enjoyed) the first game, you would probably like this one. You will find that other than the change of setting (San Francisco vs Chicago), it's Same Stuff Different Game. They did improve the story and made the protagonist a bit more likeable as Aiden from the 1st game was quit the Cranky Sour Puss.

Much like Far Cry games, Watch Dogs 2 just continues the theme without doing much of anything new. I would of recommended it if it didn't have the malware Denuvo. Considering Steam, Uplay and VM protect are all DRMs I find it bizarre that Ubisoft felt the need for another DRM. It's no surprise that the performace took a hit.

Am I the odd one out for wanting the story to be good? I was genuinely enthralled with the story of the first game, and was looking forward to this installment, and gosh have I been massively disappointed.

The first thing you'll notice is that this game simply doesn't have an inciting incident. In the first game, your protagonist survived an assassination attempt but a family member of theirs was killed, and that incident plays a pretty large role in the larger plot that reveals itself. In this game, nothing really happens to you; in fact, the game begins with you completely wiping your information from the government servers. The gang decides that what they need to do is raise awareness, and that just... is the game? As a goal it's extremely nebulous and unfulfilling, and if you think about it for a moment you remember that the game began with you wiping your own data, so why not just wipe everyone else's too? The vague throughline could work well enough if the game's cast was compelling and memorable, but I hate every single one of them with a deep, unique passion. Their designs are pretty cool, I'll give them that, but ultimately they all suffer the problem of grown men trying to write teenagers. They're all insufferable, often lack even the most rudimentary degree of social awareness, and generally just make you want to skip every cutscene. Incidentally, I skipped a lot of the dialogue completely on accident, because the only way to back out of any menu in this game is the Escape key, which also ends conversations that are playing, and ending the conversation always takes priority. In none of these instances is right-click bound to anything, so why that isn't the key bound to exiting your upgrade menu or your cameras, who's to say? The point I decided these characters were completely irredeemable was when the game had the trope of a character who didn't get a joke understanding it after the conversation is over and laughing to themselves while repeating the joke. Maybe it would have been funny if the voice actor had been directed to use any amount of emotion whatsoever when voicing that character, instead of seemingly trying to sound as dull and unengaged as possible.

The gameplay is also far more boring than I remember the first game being. The map is huge and yet completely barren. The original game released in the era where Ubisoft was obsessed with climbing radio towers to unlock tons of markers on your minimap, and while I won't pretend that's a very good system, it's definitely better than just removing it and not replacing it with anything else. The map is large and has almost nothing to do; you can collect research points but you only get 1 at a time and most of your skills take 4 or more, plus a lot of those points are gated off by later unlocks so you can't even get them until they're already redundant. You can collect stashes of money, but once you have the quadcopter and a stun grenade launcher there's nothing to spend it on. You can drive people around in cars, which does lead to some of the only good writing in the game as the passengers you drive all have micro-stories, but at the same time it reminds you just how large this map is and how bad the driving is, so who's to say if it's good or not? There are a few random interesting things you can find, like houses you can hack into for more micro-stories (though these aren't marked on your map), or unique vehicles you can unlock (though they're completely pointless, and almost always more annoying to drive than the regular cars).

Even the base mechanics of hacking feel way less engaging. In the first game, you could only hack into a camera you could see, which from a realism standpoint didn't make any sense, but as a gameplay mechanic it made a lot of encounters far more interesting as you had to find the right angles to progress through a maze of cameras. In this game there is basically no point whatsoever using cameras outside of the tutorial where you're forced to, especially once you have access to the quadcopter. Enemies in this game are way more annoying than they were in the first game, but once you get the ability to jump with the RC car, pretty much every stealth section is trivialized, most especially the optional ones. The stun grenade launcher trivializes the rest.

I couldn't even be bothered to finish the game. The story didn't give me a reason to care about itself and the characters made me miss fucking Aiden Pearce - at least he didn't let himself get dragged into long conversations. Maybe if it had achievements I would have at least pushed through, but the game doesn't even have trading cards - another thing the first game had. I appreciate that the game has quite a few people of color in the main cast, but even then, doesn't that just highlight the fact that there's only a single woman? The first game also had one woman as a primary character, but that was out of, what, only three or four main characters? Ultimately, I couldn't find anything to love about this game, I couldn't even find a reason to continue playing it, and that is a feeling I very rarely have with a game.

Today Proyect Pegasus was blown wide open. Now we have the proof that a wide array of journalist and political activist were/are being surveilled by their governments through private companies.
Watch Dogs 2 made that same warning. Although the presentation was shallow, I think is a worthy effort to make public such a serious threat to our rights.
The gameplay is interesting, a mixture of GTA and hacking. But that's where the comparisons between those two franchises stop. No, this is not just a GTA with hacks, the hacking abilities have their reasons and are well implemented (except the stealth sections). Also, Ubisoft tried to make something with a statement and not just another nihilistic game where everyone are broken humans, and I can respect that.
If you like open world games this is a must just for the story.

$100 still for this game? yeah nah, wait for that 90% off sale as you may not even play it to the end. In my opinion it gets very stale and repetitive very quick. At least the game looks decent enough

Watch Dogs 2: Everything's Connected

This review contains no major spoilers.

-Overview-

Watch Dogs 2 is the sequel to the original Watch Dogs. It's set in San Francisco, a good-looking city, that has little representation in this genre, apart from GTA: San Andreas back in 2004. In the metropolis, everything's connected with the new ctOS 2.0, a computer system originally designed to manage the infrastructure of Chicago during the events of the first Watch Dogs. CtOS 2.0 is an improved version of it. The story focuses on a group of young characters who want to change society. You assume the role of Marcus Holloway, who joins a group of young hackers named DedSec to take down Blume, the corporation who invented ctOS. You don't need to play the first game to experience Watch Dogs 2, as it focuses on totally different characters in another city.

-Deep Analysis-

▲ Pros

1. Visuals
There have been only a few times where I've been totally immersed in a game's environment, and Watch Dogs 2 is one of these cases. San Francisco here is alive, technological, and stunning to look at. Whether you're crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, or doing parkour to reach the peak of high buildings, the city always looks gorgeous. It is also full of secondary quests and side activities to do.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2446407622

2. Gameplay
The gameplay of Watch Dogs 2 is well-crafted and can bring you many hours of fun, most of it definitely comes from the hacking system. In this game, everything revolves around hacking. Unlike in games such as GTA, it's recommended to think of a good plan before going on a mission. In fact, if you're good enough, you can play almost every mission silently. There are two devices (apart from your smartphone, which takes care of most of the hacks) that can help you a lot in planning the best way to do a mission. The first one is called the Jumper, and the second one is the Quadcopter.
The Jumper is a ground drone, and it's the most useful object in the game. It can help you spot enemies and analyze the place of a mission before physically going there. It can also unlock doors, getting special permissions, and complete many mission objectives. However, it can also be easily spotted, so you have to be careful when going around with this little thing.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2471041185
You can do the same with Quadcopter except it can fly.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2471041104

3. Stealth System
As previously mentioned, thanks to the hacking system and some other useful tools such as the taser, you can do a lot of missions without getting your hands dirty. To get the best possible result, you have to use a combination of all the gadgets you have at your disposal. While the Jumper and the taser are available from early on, the Quadcopter is a device you have to buy separately with ingame currency. I'd recommend getting it as soon as possible.

4. Soundtrack
I really liked the soundtrack of this game. There are many good songs, even famous hits, all available while you're driving or through the Media Player app on your phone. You can listen to them anytime you want. Not all of the songs are unlocked from the start, but you can unlock other ones through Soundcloud, an app on your smartphone similar to Shazam, which recognizes new songs and directly adds them to the Media Player app.

5. Skill Tree
The ability tree in Watch Dogs 2 features a nice and varied set of skills you can unlock or improve to push your hacking, aim, or driving to the ultimate level. There are a lot of cool options, for example you can unlock a massive hack that causes all cars to go hay-wire. Crazy!

▼ Cons

1. Level Design
Now, it may be me..but in some cases, the level design was quite confusing. A few times, I didn't know what I should do, or where I should go, and had to go to YouTube to find out. I don't consider this a major flaw, but still I had to talk about it.

2. Invasive UI
If there's something I dislike about this game, it's about the UI. I think that overall it's really great, but sometimes it becomes too much invasive for my taste. For example, there's a persistent white dot at the centre of the screen and I don't know why it's there. When you're driving a car, it's still there. I was annoyed by it and decided to install a mod to remove it, and nothing changed in my gameplay, so I really can't understand why they did that. Then, there's a skill which lets you know when some random NPC has a lot of money in his bank account, so you can hack it. However, the way the game notifies you of that is quite annoying. It shows four blue lines in the form of a square around the NPC, and that thing lasts quite a while. The problem is that the game notifies you of it even when you're inside of a building and you can't see the NPC, or when you're on a mission, and once you unlock the skill, you can't disable it. If you're annoyed by this kind of things, you'll probably be bothered by this one too, but once again.. it's not that big of a deal.

3. Driving
I feel like the driving in Watch Dogs 2 is too much arcade-ish. I don't really know how to describe it, but it's like if some vehicles are too slow and others are too fast. The maneuverability of cars is almost the same for every vehicle, and the only thing that changes with different ones is just the speed and the design of them. It's worth noting though that it's not an issue that ruins the experience too much.

Rating: Very Good

Playing Watch Dogs 2 is a really great and fun experience. The city of San Francisco is so alive and detailed that walking through it almost feels like going on a virtual tour. Listening to the ingame tracks while the protagonist has his earphones on is a nice detail too. The gameplay is great, the hacking system is amazing and everything feels like a well-crafted product. I fully recommend this game. Anyway, props to you, Ubisoft.

Good graphics and fighting/hacking, nearly everything this game tries to do it nails, only thing I don't like is the car handling but that is most games for me. Story is great and makes you want to play along the story and do side quests.

Personally I would not pay the full price and wait till it goes on sale as I don't think it is worth $90 AUD anymore

Pleasantly surprised with this one. The story was decent enough to keep me invested and hacking is fun. I wish the co-op was better, anything more than a party of 2 limits you to world events, which aren't that great.

Starts off really fun but after a while the game-play becomes stale and all the missions feel repetitive and you feel no incentive to keep on playing as it doesn't feel as if any real progression is made. It's *fine* for a couple of evenings with friends but that too will become stale.
Overall it's *fine* but definitely not worth the £50 that it's currently priced at without discounts.

when i was in my late teens (18-19 years old) i hate this game for the plot, and the colour of the san francisco bay,the young protagonist, and modern culture of U.S.A,but now this game is one of the best games that ubisoft makes in the 2010s very beatiful, nostalgic nice view in every corner and the posibility to chose every language that you wanna hear(latin spanish, spanish from spain, english USA,russian, german, french ,italian,) the plot of the game is very fun to watch and hear with memes of the year of release is nothing serious like the first game but is ok, the gameplay is very fast comparing the first game in parkour, weapons, and hacks, very fun to play with a couple of friends :)

With the negativity surrounding this game's predecessor and its sequel, Watch Dogs 2 finds itself in an awkward spot with few people wanting to try it. Despite the franchise's reputation, this game is very fun. The story doesn't take itself too seriously, and hacking has been greatly improved since the first game. WD2 is without a doubt the best in the franchise.

This game is interesting in how it handles politics. While it's old by the time I write this, I see this game still goes beyond it's years to talk about social issues we are still going through today.
Aside from the story, the game play is solid and no matter if you do controller or keyboard, the game is still fun to mess with. Especially with the multiple ways to complete missions.

In the end, Watch Dogs 2 feels like an improvement over the previous game in the series.
The characters are fun to play as and interact with, all of the hacking elements have a lot more depth and make more sense, and the world feels more alive and rich than ever before, design wise and graphics wise. However the game does suffer from mediocrity in regards to its shooting mechanics and stealth sections.

Is it a fun game? Yeah, sure it is.

Watch Dogs 2 improves upon all gameplay aspects of the first game, being one of those rare instances where the sequel is better than the original. If you haven’t already played it or bounced off the first game I highly recommend giving it ago. Looking back it’s a game that was ahead of its time (2016), and the concerns that the game raises about data manipulation and risk, health care and insurance, media control, drone and AI use against civilians, corporate corruption, voter manipulation and political influence are now mainstream, and in the news almost everyday.

All story elements have been improved upon in WD2. Set is a fictionalised San Francisco, you control Marcus, a young black American hacker who has been branded a high risk (low score) by the intrusive ctOS system that predicts he will become a problem in the future (and hence life is worth less). It can now make these predictions because it has expanded from what it once was, collecting data on all facets of everyday life and activities. Marcus joins Decsec, the hacker collective from the first game but instead of trying to destroy the system, you are trying to expose the flaws and corruption to gain followers and swing popular opinion against bloom. Instead of playing as an angry protagonist who refuses to learn and acknowledge his mistakes, Marcus and co are actually fun to follow and listen to them quip and nag each other, while pulling off stunts and more outrageous hacks against corporate bloom partners and affiliates. The hacks start out small and relatively tame but escalate into breach’s (both physical and virtual) and are great to participate in and epic in scale.

Gameplay has been massively improved as well, with their being a host of lifestyle enhancements, as well as additional things to do other than main missions and unlocking fast travel points. It plays more like a GTA game now, with plentiful side missions, races and sights to take a selfie at, all of which increase your follower count (XP bar), and having fast travel unlocked at the start makes traversing the city much easier. Multiplayer missions have also been expanded, with a larger variety and some allowing co-op, and the invasions can be disabled if you find them annoying. Marcus is far less concerned with breaking into every home and invading personal privacy, with the group starting with low lever pranks but then becoming more focused on exposing flaws in corporate systems and exposing corruption with their hacktivist activities. Marcus has access to a 3D printer, in which you can print your own weapons and gadgets, with a drone and buggy extending the groups espionage capabilities. The upgrade tree allows you to improve many different skillsets (all very similar to the first game), however later upgrades require a unique part to acquire before being purchased. Car chases have been majorly overhauled from the first game, and it is now possible to hide without having to destroy everything in sight. It is still handy to use the environment to escape, but enemy vehicles aren’t moving pillboxes now, and the driving itself has vastly improved. The hacking mini games puzzles are still a large part of the game, but not as much as the first game and don’t dominate every mission. I noticed alternative ending lines for at least 1 mission (I didn’t use the zip line Wrench setup to escape a late game mission).

Visually the game is great and was surprisingly glitch free for my play though. I didn’t encounter any invisible objects that blocked my path and graphically the game looks stunning. While there isn’t a day/night cycle, it does seem to change from morning to evening (with some missions being set to night). This did change some of the NPC locations. Marcus has plenty of customisation options with some unlocking during missions, as well as paint options for weapons and gadgets (there are a lot of additional DLCS you can purchase for these as well). It comes with an optional 4K texture pack that’s a separate free DLC in case you aren’t playing in that resolution and don’t need the files (running the game in 4K without the texture pack still looks great).

The soundtrack and vocals are all top notch, from the main cast right through to the conversations you can listen to hacking bystander’s phones. The available soundtrack for the cars (and what you can steal from other phones) is pumping, with enough different choices to keep most people happy, though there isn’t an option to play your own music. I loved on how some missions Beethoven starts blaring as the mission comes to a close. I didn’t notice any audio glitches, though I wished after a quick travel the music would continue playing (it is annoying having to constantly load the phone, restart the music to continue). Having the system menu button the same as the skip button was unfortunate as I missed a few conversations because if it.

I thought the 2 DLC missions were worth it (they only provide a few hours each), though they do add new cars, outfits and multiplayer missions, though they are pricy if not purchased on sale. I thought Human Conditions was better bang for buck as you get 3 side missions from it, all of which play differently from the main game, but if you can get the season pass or gold edition for cheap they are included. The rest of the DLC depends on how much you like costume options in game, and will come down to personal preference. You do need to play a certain way through the game for the DLC missions to unlock.

There are no steam achievements, but plenty on Uplay, and it requires an active Uplay account. All of the Uplay awards start unlocked (as they are changing that system), so you can start the game with a fair few bonuses.

Watch Dogs 2 is the second installment in the Watch Dogs series and this time we take our hacking adventure to the bright and sunny San Francisco.

Story:

Set three years after the events of the first Watch Dogs game, we now play as Marcus Holloway. San Francisco becomes the first city to install CTOS 2.0 which marked Marcus for a crime he has not committed. Infuriated by the injustice against him, he becomes a member of the local branch of Dedsec and joins the fight against Blume and other corporations in Silicon Valley.

I wasn't a huge fan of the story in the first Watch Dogs game, I found it to be rather bland and by the numbers and the very bleak tone of Chicago made the game a slog to get through, but I still enjoyed my time with it. However the story of Watch Dogs 2 is slightly better, but comes with a new slew of issues because of the new structure. The main game follows on Dedsec trying to get followers so they can get computing power to take on Blume, To do that you complete missions taking down Blume's associates and other side gigs like fighting swatters, other hackers and gangs.

The main plot point is you need those followers for botnet, but very quickly that plot point is disregarded and by the end completely forgotten. Also not to mention each story mission is like it's own little contained story with a minor cutscene adding into the overall plot. There is a clear cut villain in Dušan Nemec, but he barely appears in the campaign, mainly in a few cutscenes to remind the player he's still around.

Another thing a lot of people didn't like is the brighter tone and the goofy characters. The story is usually pretty lighthearted with plenty of comedy, with a few semi dark moments thrown in. First the characters. I found most of them pretty likeable albeit they do come off as slightly cringy in certain moments, but overall I found most of them fun and I started to care for most of them by the end of the game. As for the story, it's overall decently written, with plenty of plot points still being relevant even today, although it's still not amazing.

Graphics:

Switching from the rainy and dark Chicago, we now explore the bright and sunny San Francisco. I honestly loved my time exploring all of the areas in the game. The colorful look and the bright visuals look pretty good, especially during the night when the city lights up and you're high up on a rooftop overlooking the skyline.

The environments all look amazing, but the character models honestly don't. If it's not a main character, the character model will look slightly off and I know it would take a lot of time to develop good looking models for an open world game, but honestly they look so much worse than the main characters. Sort of like throwing Plastic Green soldiers into an environment with a highly detailed figurine.

Audio:

The audio design is really decent. First of all let's talk about the soundtrack, which I found really delightful. There's a good variety of music and you will definitely find the tracks that speak to you the most. Also one cool feature added into the game is allowing you to put earbuds on. When exploring the world on foot you can use your phone to play music and once you find a song with Song Freak (a spoof of Shazam) you can assemble a playlist of the songs you liked and listen to them avoiding the tracks you didn't like.

The voice acting is top notch. I think everyone does a fantastic job the two highlights being Wrench and Marcus, but even then everyone does a great job with their characters. All the performances are all great and most emotions are displayed clearly. The sounds for guns and cars are overall decent, although most cars sound roughly similar, the only difference being between normal cars and either sports or muscle cars, with normal cars having normal noises and muscle and sports cars having powerful roaring noises.

Gameplay:

The gameplay of Watch Dogs 2 is roughly the same to Watch Dogs 1, albeit with some changes. One of the most major things is you can now do a non lethal run of the game and honestly this was a big issue with community. Most people found the characters too innocent so running around and gunning people down, seemed like an issue to a lot of people and I agree. I did a majority of the missions with takedowns and the taser, only resorting to killing in two missions (if you played the game, you know the missions I mean).

Honestly, I found no issue in a non lethal playthrough in fact I found the extra challenge quite fun. When you knock someone out, there's ZZZ letters on their body and after some time they will wake up and walk around waking up their friends you knocked out as well and start patrolling the area.

Of course let's talk about the main thing these games are known for, which is the hacking. You have even more abilities than the first game and that allows for even more chaos and more opportunities when playing missions. Most of the major ones are back from the first game, but there's a bunch of new ones. For example one of the new ones is allowing you to hack cars allowing you to ram them into enemies and other vehicles when you're being chased.

Alongside new additions you now have two drones that you can control to get to places you can't walk into or for stealth reasons. You have a drone to fly to check your surroundings marking enemies and looking around the environments and also you have an RC jumper which allows you can use to get through vents and also to hack into terminals you might no want to touch yourself. To explore the world you will use cars to get from place to place and the driving is alright. Sometimes when going too fast, you might lose control which might mess you in a chase, but overall it's better than the driving in the first game.

So now let's talk about the open world. Most people find Ubisoft games to be completely lifeless and the worlds boring to explore, however I found the open world of Watch Dogs 2 to be really good. Taking your time off and looking at the sights is absolutely amazing, but seeing the people interact with you and other characters is pretty impressive. When taking a selfie of a cool sculpture, a person might pass you and photobomb you. Also the NPC interactions with other NPCs are incredibly awesome to say the least. Walk around a bar ? You might spot a man puking on the ground after he had too much to drink, you might see a group of tourists looking at famous landmarks, you can witness people proposing to their significant other and this goes on and on. Whenever I spotted something like this happening, I found it incredibly cool.

The mission structure is also something I really like. In Watch Dogs 1, the missions usually boiled down to going to a location, hacking some stuff and or killing someone. In Watch Dogs 2, there's some more mission variety, especially if you decide to do the side quests. There's still plenty of going to a location, hack something and leave, but usually there's a ton of messing stuff up too, like stealing a movie prop car and racing it around the city.

Verdict:

Watch Dogs 2 is a better game over the first one in every way. The story is more interesting, the gameplay is much tighter, the missions are more interesting and overall there's much more player freedom. Seeing the sights of the bright San Francisco is a highlight of it's own and honestly I had an absolute blast going through all of the missions in this game, while I found most of the first game slightly tedious. On a sale this game is super cheap and it will provide you over 30 hours of content for all missions and even more if you mess around with the side activities like racing and collectible hunting, not to mention landmark visits are an activity by itself. This is definitely worth the money.

I only played a couple of hours of Watch_Dogs. I couldn't stand the driving or the deliberate slow pace of the character. I bought Watch_Dogs 2 when it went on sale about a year after release. It's an extremely fun open world game, set in a version of San Francisco Bay Area, California. You have lots of toys, technology, weapons, fashion options and gear to help you hack or fight your way through the game's many missions. It wouldn't be fair for me to compare the two Watch_Dogs titles with the little time I spent with the first entry, so I'll just say from everything I did experience wrong with the first, Watch_Dogs 2 did better for the most part. It's a serious but whacky game, I relax and just find hidden stuff, hack people, fight for territory, anything you want really. The map is varied and gorgeous. Honestly, Watch_Dogs 2 and Sleeping Dogs (see my review) are the only types of these games I'll play. GTA V is just a beautiful shell, (see my review) an illusion of an immersive open world experience with hardly any interactions with buildings, customization, NPC's, objects, melee combat, ect.. If you want cars, guns, hacking, causing chaos, or just want to steal money through cellphones all while dressing any way you can dream up...buy this, you'll thank me.

So just wrapped up WD2 and it was better than ever, at very first the story didn't caught me up but when things got moving I got invested, and the gameplay's super nice. Comparing to WD1 it's like comparing GTA V to GTA IV. The new one is bright, sunny etc.
Loved that the side missions aren't as repetitive as in the first WD.
In conclusion, it's a great game and great experience.

Welcome to San Francisco

Watch dogs 2 takes places in San Francisco and continues on the storyline of the main game.

The game plays way more differently compared to Watch Dogs.

For starters, Its harder to do missions silently, you need to pay 10x for any car on demand.

The San Francisco map looks literally gorgeous, it looks and feels amazing, but I dont recommend you run it on ultra if you dont own a PC that can properly run Yandere Simulator.

The good Parts:
Amazing depiction of San Francisco, It feels Great.
Parkour is awesome. Just play around with it.
Great driving unlike the first game.
The bad parts:
Dialogue, voice actors did good but some lines come off cheesy at best.
Requirements: Its hard to run it.
Still no flyable items.

7.8/10

A fun open-world experience that I remember generally enjoying. A pretty and colourful world to explore, with good graphics to aid it. The storyline is very modern, casual with light-hearted tones that allows for both laughs and some serious, relatable moments. The game is flexible to different playstyles as well, whether you want to be aggressive and shoot-y or stealthy and juke-y. The missions are fun, whether they're sidequests, main missions, or even online! Compared to WD1, customisation is more versatile and general gameplay is more fine-tuned.
From what I can remember though, even though it allows for flexible playstyles, gunplay can be a little ???????????????????????????????????????????????? but stealth can be weird and ????????????????????; some missions I would want to be stealthy but have to go loud because it wouldn't let me hide effectively. The AI is a bit odd at times, depending on difficulty. I remember the cars being hard to control. And some missions were confusing or aggravating, but those were few and far-between.
Overall though, a good game! Would definitely recommend if you played the original Watch_Dogs.

❝ It's a switch on your fears, fear of the other. They try to isolate you. It's called divide and conquer, and they tricked you into thinking it's what you asked for. You said with one voice: We will not be lied to. We will not be afraid. We will not be silent. ❞
―Marcus Holloway

???? Description:

Ubisoft has had a bad reputation over the years in terms of their game building strategy. There are times, when they create amazing games and there are other times, when they basically “milk” an already used concept.

Having played Watch Dogs 1 in the past, my expectations in the beginning were quite low, since the promises made in 2012 E3 were not fulfilled. I have never said Watch Dogs 1 is a bad game (don’t get me wrong) but the franchise had so much potential, that thankfully I was able to see with my own eyes in its current sequel.

???? Plot:

Summary

Having failed to manage the Chicago’s city-wide infrastructure, due to the influence of our beloved Aiden Pierce, the CTOS (Central Operating System) which connects everyone and everything has been installed in San Francisco. This time under new management called Blume. Even though the system has been upgraded to its newest version CTOS 2.0, it covertly brings harm to many innocent citizens of the city, including our protagonist. Marcus Holloway an intelligent hacker from Oakland, having been accused for a crime he did not commit, decides to work with the hacking group called DedSec. Their new purpose is to take down Blume’s influence over the city.

Characters

Watch Dogs 2 lets us embark on a thrilling adventure. The plot revolves around a group of outlaws whose actions and thoughts can be very relatable to our own, compared to the “vigilantly arc” experienced in the previous game. The cast has a funny (sometimes goofy) personality, with clear motivations and an intriguing character progression. The conversations can indeed become time to time “nerdy” and “cringe worthy”, but it's those features that make the interactions unique, and thus more memorable.
The dialogue ranges from happy moments to very dark ones depending on the circumstances, giving us plenty of material to reflect upon. The only down side in my opinion is the main “villain” of the story.

Lesser Evil?

As you will see for yourself during your playthroughs, there will be times where you going to question both sides of the coin. Many arguments reflected upon the “villains”, have a very valid point. Of course, they engage in illegal activities (same goes for DedSec) which is considered an evil approach. However, their cause, for me at least, is far more justifiable that the one which DedSec stands for. A feeling that seems out of place, since the game in my opinion has no intention to offer.

The writing is enjoyable but not perfect. There are flaws and plot holes, which to be honest was expected, considering the fact that the game focuses almost completely on its gameplay aspect.

????️ Gameplay:

Watch Dogs 2 gameplay wise, truly outdid itself for many reasons:

Difficulty

There is nothing much to mention here except from the Realistic mode. In other words, enemies become smarter and more accurate with aim. Their health is slightly raised but they take the same amount of damage as before. It really raises the stakes, which will ultimately prove useful if you ever play online against other players!

Hacking

The hacking feature of the game, the soul and core of the franchise, is challenged to its fullest potential. You can hack cars, lights, robots, phones etc in many different ways, something that the Watch Dogs 1 experience clearly lacked. Furthermore, the many newly added features, such as drones, provide an amazing toolkit for the stealth lovers. Now, many missions can be completed without even having to engage in any combat.
The clever touch that Ubisoft added was the battery system. You have a limited use of the hacking ability, a smart way which keeps in check the ending god mode feeling. This way, you are forced to follow a more strategic approach during your missions, by focusing more on your upgrades, ability trees as well as stealth and hacking. The bar can be replenished though, so don't worry.

Movement - Combat

The parkour aspect and the fighting style in general feels dynamic and fresh, with newly added animations that left me speechless. Marcus does flips, tricks and many more moves, which brings a smooth feeling when free roaming.
During combat you can notice many details that both the protagonist and the Npcs share. For example, when different gangs fought each other, 3 SWAT trucks came in immediately to protect the citizens. The wanted system in my humble opinion is much more realistic than GTA V, a feature that I prefer you to find out yourself during your playthroughs.

Exploration

San Francisco is beautiful and vast with a colorful, warming aesthetic that pleases the eye even in the most extreme situations like police chases. Driving is smooth and fun, which can prove handy in many occasions with special tweaks that I won’t spoil. There is a variety of vehicles from the faster to the humbler ones, all easily obtainable in every corner of the map.

Overall, the way the world is expressed in this game, compared to its predecessor is one of the biggest ways Watch Dogs 2 improved from the original. The Npcs finally feel alive and have a purpose. You even can pet DOGS for god’s sake! The freedom of choice is not negligible, as customization offers a variety of options that can please even the most demanding players.
Gamepad is highly recommended!

????‍???? Graphics

Watch Dogs 2 has amazing graphics. For a game that's almost 5 years old, they hold up pretty well. Details such as the fog that occurs during a rainy day, create an atmospheric feeling that I really enjoy watching. The only downside here are the character models. In my opinion, they could dedicate more time polishing the product as cutscenes sometimes look disturbing.

???? Soundtrack

The music plays a huge role in this game. I still remember the mission where Fortunate Son soundtrack was playing in the back, as I was heading guns blazing into the fight. Of course, there are some skipable songs here and there, but the missions become more fun and memorable with such additions like the one mentioned above.

????️ Side Notes:

Co-op remains among its least approachable and yet most buggy features, but let it not discourage you from giving it a try. There are the familiar invasions, bounty hunter modes as well as many online activities where you can bring havoc either with friends or random people you meet online. Lately Epic Store has offered the game for free to many players. As a result, online became relevant and thus more enjoyable!

The DLCs are good yet short. I advise you to wait for the Steam sales before buying this game since the prize can be little spicy. ????

???? Verdict:

Watch dogs 2 deserves the title of the perfect sequel as it improves whatever came before it. The writing can be considered a delicate topic; however, the gameplay redeems the whole concept.

I really enjoyed my time with Watch Dogs 2! It takes what I enjoyed from the first game and improves upon all of it. Better setting, better characters, better writing, more in-depth / interesting hacking options, more satisfying driving mechanics, etc. I was sad when I completed the final DLC mission because I'm really going to miss these characters and their interactions with one another!

My only real complaints with the game are the sometimes game-breaking bugs (thought they are not common) and the somewhat lackluster combat. There is a decent amount of weapons in the game, but they all feel relatively the same and don't feel that great when you are shooting them. The combat skill tree is also incredibly shallow and doesn't allow for much variety. The only hand-to-hand combat that exists in the game is a single button that instantly knocks out enemies. However, all of the great things I mentioned above more than make up for the sparse combat.

Overall, I'd say the game is an 8/10! I'd recommend it to fans of the first game, as well as fans of open-world games in general due to it's lovable characters, interesting story, and entertaining hacking options. The game is definitely worth it at full price, and is an absolute STEAL if discounted.

I spent more than 500 hours playing this game, so obviously I like it and obviously I recommend it.
Watch Dogs is a masterpiece and Watch Dogs 2 is another masterpiece. Watch Dogs Legion will, hopefully, be another masterpiece.

Now talking specifically about Watch Dogs 2: Play the story mode first, then give the Showdown multiplayer mode a try. I made some cool friends when Showdown mode was introduced.

(As this review is pretty long, there is a summary at the bottom)

Introduction

Watch Dogs 2 is a 2016 open-world game set in the San Francisco Bay Area. In Watch Dogs 2, you play as a young hacktivist called Marcus Holloway. With your DedSec friends at your side, it's your goal to tear down the system and show the world that Blume and its ctOS are corrupt. Use your skills to take advantage of your environment to sneak by or take down your foes.

Story

The story of Watch Dogs 2 is pretty basic. You shouldn't go into this game expecting a fantastic story. In terms of story telling, the first Watch Dogs game was probably a bit better. As a way to provide incentive for the player to play through the game and complete various missions, the story is fine. But it doesn't really get better than that. There are some moments that are supposed to be heartfelt and emotional, for example, when a certain character dies. But unfortunately I was pretty indifferent, as they are one of the most basic characters in the game. However, even if they aren't very deep, the characters are still pretty good. The banter between the characters is fun, and I especially like the witty comments of Wrench.

Gameplay

In terms of gameplay and atmosphere, I think this game is much better than its predecessor. Watch Dogs 1 is a fine game, but I enjoyed this one a lot more. The 'hacking' aspect is pretty basic, but as a fun gameplay mechanic to use your environment to your advantage, it does a good job. Not all missions in this game were created equally, but most missions are pretty fun, and allow you to approach them in several ways. You can bust in and shoot everything in sight, but you can also make a fuse box emit sparks to draw in a nearby enemy, and then make it blow to shock and stun them. How you approach the missions is up to the player. However, you take a lot of damage (especially on harder difficulties), and there is no such thing as armour to protect yourself. The protagonist is a computer-savvy young man, not a soldier. So I think it kinda makes sense.

Even though the game can be played any way you want, I found this game to be far more enjoyable if it's played like a stealth game. Later on in the game you also unlock some pretty overpowered upgrades, such as dropping bombs from your drone. In my opinion it's a lot more fun if you try not to abuse the overpoweredness of these upgrades. Use your drone for observing only, don't just drop bombs on everything that moves. It eliminates a lot of the challenge, and with that also the fun.

Easy mode is a bit too easy, but hard (and ESPECIALLY realistic mode) can sometimes be a bit much. This game is best enjoyed on medium mode, with the occasional hard mode for some extra challenge. Realistic mode is just not fun. The enemy detection can be a bit weird/unfair as is (aka if a guard dog spots you, it telepathically lets the whole base know where you are). Realistic mode is actually just brutal difficulty, as it can be quite unfair, and just spoils the experience most times. This one is only for those looking for a real challenge, or the insane.

There is also a multiplayer mode, where you can play with or against other players. There are 2 player coop missions, a bounty hunter mode where you hunt down enemy players (or get hunted down other players and have to try to escape, and even a 4 player mode where you and 3 other players (be it friends or random people online) can mess around and play a variety of gamemodes. At launch the multiplayer was a bit crap, but these days the multiplayer is pretty stable, and a lot of fun. Playing with random people online is fine, but it can be a bit boring if you have a bad coop mate. Playing with friends is where the multiplayer truly shines.

The open world

The game is set in the San Francisco Bay Area. Due to the NPC's it is also pretty lively. You will encounter them having conversations, smashing car windows, calling each-other out and fighting, [strike] running each other over because the driving AI is a bit stupid [/strike] driving around, cheering you on if you do donuts with your car, and reacting to your actions in various other ways.

Random things can also happen, such as two factions brawling with each-other. And from what I have seen, it's also a fairly accurate recreation of the SF area, with a few differences to fit better with the game. And it also just looks really nice, especially thanks to the graphical details.

Graphics and performance

The graphics are very good. They hold up very well for a game that's almost 4 years old. Some graphical details such as the San Francisco fog, the falling leaves and the shaders are very pleasing to look at.

In terms of performance, it can be a kind of sluggish. But if your pc can handle it, it looks very nice. Sometimes it does crash seemingly at random, but it's not that frequent. I've had many play sessions where I play for hours on end with zero crashes. There are also some glitches, but I'd say most of them are more funny than game-breaking (think scissor lifts sliding across the ground when they get knocked over, stuff like that).

Out of the pc and console versions, I would say that the console versions are more stable, at the cost of giving up a moderate amount of graphical detail and framerate.

Soundtrack

The soundtrack is pretty good. Not all songs are great (there a lot of songs that I don't care for), but there are some catchy songs, and it even introduced me to some I had never heard before. In addition to an original soundtrack, there are also a lot of regular songs that weren't made specifically for this game. There is pop, rock, hip-hop, reggae, and more, so there's a lot of variety.

Summary and conclusion

In short, Watch Dogs 2 is a fun open-world game where you manipulate your environment with your hacks to complete missions, albeit with a few technical hiccups and a story that leaves something to be desired. The open world is lively and fun to explore, and the multiplayer is also fun to play with your mates.

All in all, I definitely recommend you give this game a shot. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and put countless hours into it across multiple platforms. Is it worth the full 60 euro's? I'm not sure. But if you wait until it's on sale, you can get the full game and all major DLC for 30 euro's, which is definitely worth it.

I have played both Watch_Dogs and Watch_Dogs 2

Performance

Not much to say here really, I had virtually no issues in terms of performance and stability, while playing I had a stable frame rate and only ever had the game crashed thrice throughout the entire story.

Graphics

The game is quite beautiful but you can start to tell they are a bit outdated. I didn’t have any graphical glitches or errors in my time playing.

Gameplay

Here is the meat of it and arguably the most important part of the game. The gameplay in Watch_Dogs 2 is phenomenal. While the game both looks and presents itself similarly to GTA it is vastly different because of the hacking. In terms of the hacking there is way more you are able to do compared with the first game, while the basics from the first game are there you can now do way more and it feels like a main part of the game as opposed to a gimmick. For example you can hack into someones phone and have them assassinated by a gang or even start a faction war between two groups to distract them. There is also way more to hack and control such as cars and other vehicles.

They’ve also added two RC drones which allow for different styles of gameplay, both the drone and RC car are great additions and adds interesting and unique ways to solve the “puzzle” of each mission. Of course you can still go in guns blazing if you want or even stealth around and hack but there being different options keeps the game fresh and can make each situation unique.

The World

If there is one thing Ubisoft exceeds at it’s there worldbuilding. This is perhaps the best living city I’ve ever played, the city feels real and alive and makes sense. Having a little description of each NPC and the ability to listen in on some of their conversations makes it feel all the more real and like these people actually inhabit it. The world has a lot of detail in it that appears to make it a real city.

Story

Now here in my opinion is the weakest part of the game. The tone of the story here is vastly different from the first game and I will be going into minor spoilers here for both Watch_Dogs and Watch_Dogs 2. The tone of this game is bit silly and goofy as opposed to the more raw and serious nature of the Watch_Dogs1(Aiden Pearce). Instead of being a vigilante out for revenge you are a member of the hacker group DedSec out to expose the big corporation Blume for their evil deeds with data collection. Each of the characters in the game with the exception of the “villian” are goofy. The dialogue for most of these characters is to me quite unbearable but hidden under this dialogue is an interesting premise As you go through and expose more and more evil that each of the big tech companies is doing it feels very real, and like you are doing something important. However the dialogue and goofy nature takes away from this as well as the methods that you take in achieving these ends.
The weakest part of the story is the “villain” which again is in quotes for a reason. The villain is the CTO of Blume who wants to use people's personal data for financial gain as well as developing new technologies he believes humanity will want and may even help them. Of course he also engages in fraud and other illegal activities, but it is kind of hard to absolutely hate the guy when he often does have a point and isn’t really even evil. To be completely honest I have sympathy with him and what DedSec was doing made me question whether or not what my character was doing was the right choice. I don’t think the game intends this but it is what I got.
Conclusion

While Watch_Dogs 2 is by no means a perfect game. But it’s gameplay puts it miles above what Watch_Dogs was even though it’s story is lackluster in some parts. While I didn’t like the dialogue of the characters and the lack of a grandiose story I still got a lot of enjoyment out of it and would definitely recommend it.

This is a great game and I don't think enough people have played it. This is one of the most underrated games I've played recently.

The story is fun and engaging and the characters are charming and likable, the gameplay is very fun if you play it like a stealth game. Try your best to finish missions without using any firearms to have the most fun. The NPCs that roam the streets are also surprisingly realistic and fun to just observe. The driving is also really good. The hacking which is the stand-out function of the game is done well and there's a lot of stuff we can do with it.

I definitely think everyone should play this. It's like a better GTA.

FRIGGIN AMAZING!!

Incredible amounts of detail in everything. So much to do its overwhelming now.

Sucked bag at launch on console - refunded the game.
I've had this game in my library for couple years now, decided to finally give it another chance.

How good is it now...... Played for 4.4 hours straight LOL

One of my favorite open world game, fun, lively and vibrand, the world feels alive and is highly interactive unlike GTA, tons of variety in side activities and in how you can approach missions and side encounters with enemies, guns blazing, stealthy or not even entering the combat zones by droning everyone, the city is huge and beautiful and soundtrack is great. Seamless multiplayer is integrated in a great way, it's fun to participate in head hunts for other players who angered the police or various gangs, co op missions are also included as well as more PVP options.

The first Watchdogs was like a child with a new toy that had to give this half-ass'd excuse to their parents so they can go play with it. The gameplay was fun and exciting with the hacking and car chases but the story was rushed and all over the place.

This game however took that original hacking gameplay and enhanced it all around to make it less linear and tactically interesting. Not only that, the story has been given a complete overhaul as well. Instead of playing as a neutral party like you did in Watchdogs 1, you take the role of Marcus, a new DedSec operative in the city of San Francisco. Taking place 3 years after the first game, a new version of CtOS has been developed and hacktivist groups are playing catch up to the new tech. It was interesting playing a part in the world lore that was established in the first game but never really explored due to Aiden's disinterest.

The characters are much more interesting as well. The first game had a few cool characters like the mob boss guy and Sitra, but this game hosts an abundance of memorable supporting cast and crew. That being said, a lot of the characters and story is very black and white, DedSec = Good, big companies = Bad. It really starts to show when you look at how each one of the bad guys has absolutely no redeeming factors as human beings, nothing to make them relatable or their cause just. They do the things they do because they're terrible people.

Graphically, the game looks great, buildings and scenery catch your eye and extra care was taken to faithfully recreate the city with various landmarks and cultures colliding. Although, on the performance side of things I was having some issues, nothing insane mind you. My PC is on the higher end of things If I do say so myself, despite that the game would sometimes start chugging at ~50 fps in certain areas of the open world.

Another part of the gameplay that was a huge step up from it's predecessor was the gunplay, it feels good to use guns in this game and a sharpshooter can take down a large group of enemies without any issue, although the slow-motion (focus) feature is absent from this game which is a bit of of a bummer. Also, the RPG skill tree is a bit less useless in this game, with more categories for upgrades that actually change the way you can play the game.
I do wish their were more options for guns themselves, you have all the basic guns that you could want but the lack of customization means that you can't add anything to the guns that would make them better. Which is a shame since their is only one silenced weapon other than your starting stun gun.

TL;DR: A much better game than it's predecessor; above average overall but not perfect.

I think Ubisoft is a bit weak in making game sequels and we see this in the game.
Excellent and smooth gameplay, good design environment ...
But you won't understand anything from the story, you just go from A to B and do something and boom
That's all you do
Anyway, good for spending time

Well... It's nice game at total, I mean, I enjoyed it. Yet I did not understand all these political correct bullshit was satire or real because it seemed so sarcastic to me but still not sure. Maybe Ubisoft never been bold enough as Rockstar. Unfortunately missions are repeating itself way too much and a little boring. Most of the time I found myself playing to end in those missions. Like sneak into place hack some pc even mechanic devices and leave. I mean I started the game like a hacker and finished as a gangster cold blooded serial killer because of boredom. I did not pursued filler missions like paint the pissant plates and shit. Eventhough, it's a long game already, I collected some items from restricted areas but it gets pretty easy when you improve public engineering skills. (Start a gang war continously untill guards get killed, take the item afterwards.)

Combat AI is good I should say, ai surrounds you very well that you cannot escape easily but if you manage to hide from searching horde, you may wait 'till the bar goes down. However combat ai is ok but stealth ai look stupid sometimes like when they spot one of their teammates body, they alarmed but after certain amount of time like 2-3 mins they totally forget about it and roll around. I liked San Francisco's atmosphere in the game like streets, hipster culture, soyboys and evil white men oh also obese wohmen. Most missions are reminds me of antifa hack team bullshitting people on internet. Period. Antagonist is actually very cool guy but it feels like ubi wasted him. He had potential I mean. Graphics are good in general, I played on High settings with GTX 1050TI, sometimes faced fps drops or stutter gameplay. (Fixed after restarting the game.)

Physics engine mostly not working correct as the game itself politically correct. Car driving not good enough so motocycle. Gun combat is not bad but close combat is bullshit. Everyone got K.O by two punch, three max. Like I punch down whole street like a RN. I WAS BLM-ING AROUND. Ehm. There is no jumpingg nor crouching in that game. Marcus guy will jump/climb when an obstacle in front and crouch when enters into a restricted area like an ANTIFA SUPER SOLDIER. I liked the companion characters except Horatio guy, he is literally beta male in the group and boring AF. I like the gangs, pedestrian chatters, free roaming, perverting people's phone or interrupting their job, stealing money from their accounts etc.

I always hated when a game selling cosmetics with real money, this game has it yet clothing options are enough. Well if you are a hipster I mean but no barber shop so Marcus strongly indicates that he is not a CJ. It's a good game but you should not compare it with GTA series. Who knows maybe Watch Dogs series would be better under the theme of Driver series, silly Ubisoft. 7/10

-pros

-Driver SA app like crazy taxi
-very unique gameplay style in combination with drones when skill are unlocked.
-colourful level design
-lived in world as is with most ubi titles
-driving mechanics are better than watch dogs 1 but still not quite perfect, so i stick to bikes.
-Very Pretty weather effects for a 2016 title
-The racing events were a nice addition, especially liked the drone races!
-the high resolution texture pack is yet another great addition, i personally go out of my way in older games to make the textures look as crisp as possible, so more devs adding this is great to see.
-as someone who likes to take screenshots in games, its Greatly appreciated that it comes with a built in photomode!

-cons

-millenial humour, which doesnt really have a good comedic effect on me, i think i prefer a darker setting like the original.
-a few too many lethal weapons, and violent oriented missions for a supposidly hacker themed game, both feel out of place here.
-In the original watch dogs, ded sec was a shadowy group, they felt intimidating as you didnt really see them, in watch dogs 2 they seem to out in the open, making them incredibly vulnerable, it doesnt remind me of the original idea they had for them, a change in writing perhaps? feels like a group of script kiddies than a professional hacker organisation in WD1.
-the pacing of the story is a little rushed at the start, making it difficult to keep up with how quickly everything progresses.
-Ai all notice player on detection, and can also spawn behind you, not good scripting here.
-very bad musical score at times, this is most evident in the main menu theme, 'shrill' being a word to describe it
-a little bit of pandering in certain sections, though it fits with the san francisco narrative to a degree and doesnt feel too out of place.
-this is a small but annoying gripe, the Game despawning my vehicle or moving it randomly so i have to call for another one.
-At times Marcus feels like an errand boy, often doing the majority of missions with none of the other dedsec members present, making the story harder to believe, considering the slogan is 'mess with one of us, mess with all of us'.

Summery

A nice addition to the now Franchise, with the upcoming Watch dogs 3 (legion),
watch dogs 2 shift from the Dark atmosphere to the tech region of the usa, making for a more tech themed experience.
part of me thinks this was a nice change of pace, however i think now that i have completed everything it has to offer, the darker setting fits the idea better, though stealth should really be a main focus, instead of a hidden blade, a phone to defeat your enemies.
The inclusion of grenades and 50.cal snipers is pretty out of place here, though i am guilty for using them more than id like, there just satisfaction in 1 hitting everything, from vehicles to helis.
1 mission in the game, lets you take control over each of the hackers (3 others) where they each have a theme, i think if the game focused on character swapping weapons could have been a viable option, wrench (an explosives expert ) for eg.

Drones are the best addition to the game, they make for a really fluid and action filled experience, i much prefer this playstyle.
you have the choice between an rc car and a quadrocopter, wireless hacks/on ground physical hacks

The story is full of modern humour, which fits the age group of the characters to a certain degree though i feel the game is aimed at a younger age range.
i didn't find too much to be amused by, more cringe at times, though the acting isn't the reason, more-so the writing, which in watch dogs 1 was a lot better. though they did milk aiden's gruff demeaner a little too long.

Game time wise, it can be completed in about 50 hours or so, with everything collected and completed.
so by a $1/hr rule it does warrant a full price, though at this stage i would wait for a sale, usually goes for 70% off.

i recommend giving this a playthrough, though give it about 5 hours to really pick up the pace, to learn the mechanics.
Unfortunately Watch dogs 3 wont be coming to steam...
2020, the year EA comes to Steam and Ubisoft Leaves, what-a-time-to-be-alive!

The game is really fun. The hacking abilities have been highly expanded, allowing you to complete levels with creative means (for example, one of the abilities allows you to falsify an arrest warrant on anyone). The game's story is short, however. I recommend you buy this if you like open world games, however i'd recommend you wait for a sale because the base price is ABSURD.

I really enjoyed this game. I think it kinda flew under the radar for a bit because of the amount of people not liking the first one. When I played this I played both back to back, I don't think the first one deserves quite as much hate as it does get, and you will get some story payoffs by playing it first, but you don't have to. Overall though, the experience in this one is a lot more fun and should definitely be checked out

Watchdogs 2 is actually pretty decent and I feel that for whatever reason, it got a bit of a bad rap. I bought this a couple years ago but had so many games on the go I only sunk 11 hours into it at the time.

Now that I have more time, I saw it in my library and I intend to beat it over the next couple of weeks.

For what it is, it has a decent story with a lot of side content you can do as well. It's no GTA V, but it is a fun romp that is definitely worth the low price this game can be had for now a days.

It's one of the better GTA knockoffs and has a few innovative ideas that set it apart.

Started this 2 weeks ago, finished it today - and it was 34 hours of amazing gameplay. The GTA-style sub-genre that noone else thought of. I never played another game this brilliant in terms of intricate skill tree, tech integration into battles, mind-opening perspectives and social revolutionization.

This game was loads of fun. The city of San Francisco is detailed and fun to explore. There's even a feature that lets you take in-game photos by landmarks/ NPCs of interest as mini-objectives, and at one point I found an NPC that was butt-a$$ naked just watering his garden.... That was pretty funny to me, but if I hadn't explored the world, I wouldn't have found those kind of goofy things that were put into the game. In all aspects, Watch_Dogs 2 is better than the previous. I personally feel the gameplay is meant for stealth, but guns glazing is an option, but prepare for NPCs to constantly call for reinforcements like every 10 seconds. I really liked Marcus as a protagonist and the supporting crew, honestly all around it seemed like Ubisoft closely studied how to improve from the first Watch Dogs. I took my time playing this game at nearly 50 hours but I'm sure it could be completed in about half the time or less.
To put it plain, this game is more light-hearted, with a fun, thoughtful and quirky world of corporate tech juggernauts vs. hacktivist hipsters, and is pretty solid. Def worth a buy on sale.

A huge improvement over the first one, in every category.
The Bay Area is lovingly detailed, and every NPC conversation is ridiculously well-written.
The movement and combat feel natural, and the stealth is great (I mainly do stealth because, save for some spoiler moments, direct gunplay is pretty weird narrative-wise).

The only one complaint is that, while the Bay Area presented here is almost 1:1, there are some really odd things missing. Such as the fountain at Ghirardelli Square being.... not the right fountain.

I would not recommend this game to anyone over 15 years old.
- all characters are cringy and unlikable, their personalities rarely makes sense, thus the main story isn't interesting
- boring open world - once you get over the novelty gameplay mechanics of interacting with hackables, there is so little to do besides grinding for collectibles.. you can go into a coffee shop and watch 30 second animation of you drinking coffee, that's it, there is no purpose to do this.
- bad level design - I don't feel good effort has been made for the layouts of the challenges to be interesting, they are pretty basic and didn't provoke me to think much.
- fundamental mechanics of player movement aren't polished. I don't prefer the console type movement where you turn right and there is a delay where you watch your character do the turn. It may pass as more realistic sometimes, but not in this game, not when each time you need to talk with a NPC, your character teleports/slides to the correct position to face him instead of any other more natural movement like in every other game.
- interaction with the world is not polished. You get stuck on little curbs, the parkour is strange and very limited, car driving is the bad type of acrade-y. Completely removes any immersiveness.
- shoving SJW down your throat

The game itself is fun, but the characters and writing is so awful and cringy I just cant play the main storyline. Everyone in the game is so unlikable, I wish Ubisoft would stop putting these kind douchebags into their games, the writing is so bad it makes the game almost unplayable.

Even picking it up on special I regret buying it, its a pitty because watchdogs 3 looks like its going to be the same cookie cutter, post millennial bullshit.

Let me start by saying that this is a personal tirade, not because this is a bad game, but that I feel it has been inaccurately compared with the first. Picking this up on sale will definitely give you hours of enjoyment at a worthwhile price. The world is intricate, side missions have had good thought put into them, and the add-ons to the gameplay make it very fun.

I give this game a down vote to those who call it worlds different than the first. I say this maybe because I liked the first and wasn't part of the media upheaval about the first game. I've heard it said many times that the first game didn't have personality and that you were way too limited in it. That Aiden's personality killed the game. I frankly can't stand by any of those statements. This game also has its limitations and in that everything isn't available, you can't go in all the buildings etc. I like the personality in the first game better, it had more grit and at least addressed the fact that you were running around killing people, this one is just straight teenybopper (forgive me sounding like an old man) attitude. This attitude is one of the main reasons I don't respect this and it's story more than the first. It's definitely a crew against the system, social activist story. But the whole crew has this generally childlike attitude, which can be fun/funny, but leaves them oblivious to some aspects of the actions they take.

So there's my rant, I can't say that I like the tone and personality more than the first game, which were touted as the best improvements. However, the mechanics that should improve in a sequel did and make for great gameplay. Thanks for the read.
