I love this game. I've been with it from the start and the progression seems so beautiful. The devs are listening to community suggestions for ballencing and it works out really well. Can always suggest to everyone that enjoys real time RTS tug of war games <3

Nur noch eine Karte... oder zwei... oder drei... ^^

Kaum angestellt und schon durchgesuchtet.
Dieses Tower Defense/Offense Spiel hat wirklich Suchtpotential.
Es macht einfach Laune auf den kleinen Schlachtfeldern Krieg zu spielen.
Mit den vielen unterschiedlichen Einheiten, Zusätzen und Karten spielt sich jede Mission mitunter völlig anders.
Für jede Karte gibt es einen vorgegebene Schlachtverlauf als Zeitleiste.
Die zu erwartenden Gegnereinheiten und die Kartenart sollten unsere Einheitenwahl beeinflussen, was wir als nächstes mit in die Schlacht nehmen.
Im Kampagnenmodus bekommen wir für jeden Sieg unterschiedliche neue Einheiten oder Gegenstände hinzu, die wir dann in unser Inventory übernehmen.
Einmal eingesetzt, ist das dann aber auch wieder futsch.
Man muss also klug vorgehen, welches Territorium man als nächstes womit angreifen möchte.
Jede Karte bringt zudem Siegpunkte, die man für Upgrades nutzen kann.
Auch kann man unbenötigte Dinge verkaufen, in Tickets eintauschen, um damit dann beim Händler anderen Krempel zu kaufen.
Als sehr sinnvoll sehe ich da die geldbringenden Utensilien, ohne die hat man in den höheren der 4 Schwierigkeitsgraden wohl keine Chance.
Bevor man die Kampagne startet, würde ich das Tutorial empfehlen, zusätzlich einige Zufallmissionen.
Dort lernt man zwar nur den Umgang mit den einfachen Einheiten, aber da sieht man dann schon ein paar funktionierende Kombinationen.
Die Grafik ist nett, der Sound ist auch cool.
Es gibt genug Spielzeit, da man bis jetzt 3 Inseln mit sicherlich über 30 Missionen vor sich hat, die dauern immer so maximal 10-20 Minuten, danach ist man quasi tot.
Man kann die alle spielen, oder versuchen sich da durchzupflügen, um die Siegfahne einzunehmen.
Genug Errungenschaften sind auch enthalten, die man sicherlich auch zu 100% mitnehmen möchte.
Nur jetzt im Early Access scheint es fast schier unmöglich für mich, mit nur einem Leben und sehr schweren Startbedingungen die ganzen Missionen mit nur einem Leben statt 5 auszukommen.
Da sollte der Entwickler noch einmal nachbessern.
Weil eine falsche Map, eine falsche oder ungünstige Einheitenzusammenstellung, einmal Pech mit einer Granate, zack, rennen dutzende schwerbewaffnete Soldaten zur eigenen Basis und zerlegen die im Handumdrehen.
Also ich kann nur sagen, mir hat das Spiel extrem viel Spaß gemacht und ich kann es jedem empfehlen.
Und da es derzeit sogar in einem Bundle bei Fanatical sehr günstig zu haben ist, sollte sich jeder das Teil sofort schnappen.

Bin da mal kurz bossartig durchmarschiert und die Gegner sind schneller eingeknickt als Origamischwäne. Für zwischendurch sehr empfehlenswert.

habe 8 stunden gebraucht, um die derzeitige version komplett durchzuspielen. es wird am schluß klar erwähnt, dass noch weitere missionen, karten und inseln folgen.
es ist nicht wirklich schwierig und es macht bis zum ende spaß. es lief fehlerfrei, ohne abstürze auf höchsten einstellungen. nette grafik und sehr sauber gearbeitet, so ergibt sich ein stimmiges bild und hält einem bei laune. jeder, der solche spiele mag, wird hier nichts falsch machen. klare kaufempfehlung!

you spawn things, they spawn things, then the things try to take out the other sides base. decent game so far but not for $12 so don't get it from steam. it's in a lot of cheap bundles and that makes me wonder if the balancing will ever be complete. it is playable so worth it if it's cheap but Minion Masters is f2p if you want more of this type of gameplay.

I believe Warpips is a incredible game to play when you feel like playing something relaxing. Watching my little toy soldiers fight reminds me of playing with plastic green men, and that's pretty satisfying. Upon installation, you are told that as this is an early access game, some levels are much harder, and balancing is still happening. I do feel like that's true, but playing the game wasn't incredibly difficult and the concept was easy to grasp.

Now I'll get back to slaying 2d bois.

Hello! I'm a player from China. I have a few points to say about this game. (my English is not very good, so I use translation. There may be some bad things in the process)

In the game: placing arms can only be clicked, and then randomly appear in the base. This may have been designed to make the game more difficult, but it did cause me a lot of trouble. For example, the enemy's troops came, but my soldiers were formed on another road. I think we can draw a range on the base, drag the general to it and place it at a fixed point (similar to the Royal war). Or before the battle starts, we can plan the attack route in advance, and after the battle starts, we can choose the route.

The problem with the game itself is a little boring. We can design a model, a more professional model. Add ordnance and weather environment, such as night (range and accuracy are reduced, but night vision goggles can be equipped, etc.). Tanks and chariots can be modified in various parts to replace equipment (which can be permanent gain). These equipment can be obtained in combat and stores, which means that the game needs longer and richer processes. (you can open the steam workshop. Some powerful players may also add arms, weapons or skin)

In fact, there are many places to say, but now just say so much. Take your time.

Great little game that you could play on a potato of a computer and still have a great time since the spec requirements are negligible. Great if you need to kill some time (5-20 min). Really, the matches are that quick though if you want to sink an 1 or 2 into the game you can do that as well. Pretty good replay-ability too.

has potential but difficulty isn't balanced, i beat 6 missions on hardest difficulty with ease while only using 1 unit, lost the 7th mission from not being able to advance fast enough at the start of the mission, can't be bothered to go through all the easy missions just to get to a hard mission again.

Just the right amount of challenge so far in the early access version. Warpips has this odd mix of classic Command & Conquer nostalgia with the soundtrack and faux PS1 graphics while being its own style of game. The quasi hands off combat still has me managing multiple things at once and every playthrough is an absolute blast. I find myself coming back to it a lot to either spend a few minutes while waiting on something or spending hours just burning through the campaign yet again. Definitely worth a pickup if you've ever touched an RTS from the 90's or early 2000's.

Very relaxing game.
Love the pixel art, music is also really good... it gets your blood pumping.
Watching waves of enemies dying in front of your gas bombs is something, idk weirdly satisfying
And and watching them get horded down by large pack of dogs is pure joy!
Also you can mine for oil during combat to make extra bucks...just place down the machine and watch your bucks rocket to the sky... Here comes army of tanks o-oh!
If they add multiplayer this game is gonna blow up for sure!
Overall pretty good game to kill some time!

this is a fun little game with a lot of potential but in its current state I cannot recommend it, especially for the price.
It will become good once it stops trying to be a puzzle game. put a fully fleshed out game mode where you can pick any combo of units, and maybe even a set number of upgrade points to assign. Even just a normal campaign but with unlimited units and full unlock. People want to experiment, not worry that they may not be able to use a unit again if they choose it once.

It's like Command & Conquer without the micromanagement and funny videos. I think I have reached the final mission and I also think it is impossible at this time.

Great stuff:
+ Easy to Learn
+ Many difficulty settings, I liked 2nd easiest Sergeant
+ 3 big Island maps to play through
+ Bonus maps, where there is extra loot
+ Very nice casual content, with missions usually taking 10-15minutes..

Not so great:
o Enemy Heroes are super units for infantry, too hard to kill
o You get punished a lot for losing a battle, you lose all the resources you deployed

Kinda bad:
- No funny animations/videos between missions, or even islands.. Where is Tanya calling me Combat General??
- Last mission was impossible
- You die -> you die. Can't restart on 3rd island, must restart the whole game.
- Occasional bugs, where 2-lane units go down the wrong lane and your base is attacked from the other lane..

I recommend this game for a casual gamer, that is looking for some fun for a work week. After that, you have probably completed this and you can go play other games. If the developers try to make this a 20-hour game, it will suffer from repeated scenarios with just added enemies for difficulty. Current length is fine.

Tight tug of war gameplay with a clean pixel art style
Unfortunately the troop management mechanic and way units are consumed each deployment is just too stressful and unfun for me personally.
I end up spending 5-10 min overthinking how to deploy and 2 min actually playing
I hope in the future a different mode is added because the core gameplay is real solid

The feature where units are removed from your available pool anytime you deploy them to a mission regardless of casualties is just anti fun and removes most of the enjoyment I could otherwise get from this game. Really disappointing and I hope they add a way to remove or change that part of the game design in the future. It basically punishes you for wanting to use a larger variety of units. I am refunding but may purchase again in the future if this aspect is improved.

Expending units to go on operations is a large detractor from the overall feel and enjoyment of the game for me. Strategic unit losses should only occur upon major casualties or battle losses, not a standard cost to capturing regions. Reading other reviews this is apparently a conscious design choice, and that's fine, just not the game for me.

After 11 hours and some random skirmish matches i think this game is great.
What would be greater? MOBILE!!!

It is a known fact that certain people don't like mobile games but at this stage of development i don't believe this game is really fit for a PC game. It is so small, 1 - 2 day fun. Yet it is SO MUCH FUN! While playing i wanted to be able to play it on mobile and immediately match with my friends, with mobile notifications to fast invite people who have bought the game, that would be great fun and more challenge.

AI is destined to fail once the player grasps each unit's use and there should be a faction design where you can change the side you play so units change and therefore the entire strategy. And there can be skins for units to change because seeing same units all the time and changing colours is just boring to eyes after a while.

This game has a weird C&C vibe that locks me to the screen and i finished it in 2 days with all achievements, i just want more. Oh and the soundtrack! HOLY SHIT! OMGWTFBBQ bro it is hardcore, certainly would buy it just for the soundtrack, it adds so much to the game.

Whatever, buy it early and support the devs. They deserve it!

Its a fun little game with some awkward difficulty spikes, most of it was pretty easy, then a couple oddly hard fights by comparison. It definitely needs some work, so grab a copy to support the devs in finishing a fun little tug of war game.

War should not be this Fun!!!

Early Acess and having tons of fun... Great buy of the year.

Hard and fun... when this is finished will be 3 times even better. GOTY for me.

Buy game, put music of game high and enjoy the great sound track, This is Command and Conquer Tower defence...

Never was a guy who liked indie games, but i can tell they are the future. All you see is greed.

Warpips is a fun little tug-of-war strategy game. The aesthetic and soundtrack remind me of early Command & Conquer games. The gameplay is simple, the rounds are short, and it's also addictive and fun. The price is low and the developers are actively releasing new updates even though the game hasn't even been out that long.

good concept but the game is so unbalanced that if a certain enemy type spawns on the map like the howitzer in a choke map that you need to beat your game is basically over and it will. it will kill all of your units every 5 seconds with laser accurate splash damage while you wait the 1 minute cooldown for your drones or some other long range unit to be able to attack it on the other side of the map while it can fire immediately.
Most unit types are worthless, like the sentry gun. the fact that you have to buy units before each map is the dumbest shit ever. why not do a tree unlock for units or something rather than this BS. You end up investing way more units into maps than you ever get out of them. need to use 6 high level units to beat a map due to broken enemy units? here is some sandbags and oil drums for you to use as a reward :)

Relaxing War Game

This game plays nicely when you want a game that isnt too intense if your tired or looking to relax. Most of the game is automated whilst still allowing player choice and quick decision making to have deep impact on the success of your run. That said it can get pretty intense in your final moments regarding your last life, do u have enough ...? will you choose the best tactics after hours of battles...?

It crazy to me how much this game really does evoke the feeling of being a war commander, you will feel pain when you waste your powerful units and you will feel the pressure as the tug of war starts to not go your way. The defend and push feature is particularly nice and I feel adds alot to this game genre which is easy to make but hard to make good.

There are minor gripes I have with this game and you will too but they are all not deal breakers though I do really hope they continue to build on what this game has to offer. Also I think this game easily adapts to other genres like zombies aliens etc so I hope they do add all kinds of stuff because you really only need to change the art assets and this game could be a tug of war for multiple worlds.

Overall this is a good tug of war game that fulfils its purpose at a good price.

Really good game, but after i finished the last mission on the first Island in the campaign, i can not exit the round and the continue button was bugt, so i must play the island again. After the bug is fixt, i will write an real review about the game.

A little dumb fun game to quickly chuckle at the pixelated antics of some tiny virtual soldiers as they wage war for a tiny scrap of land.

Easy to get into, fun and sometimes challenging campaign mode. The game is still being worked on, but this is very playable and a worthy game to waste my time and my cash on, even in it's current state. I look forward to the future of this game.

the game is still in early access, but i've had a blast with it. I rarely write reviews but for this one i felt the need to. A game that scratches an itch i've had since W3 custom maps. Simple enough but still requires strategy. I can only hope they keep adding maps, units and more. Most fun i've had in a while.

A nice game, makes you remember the old flash games where you buy units to fight for you, focusing on economy more than combat.
So far the game had 5 hours of content (3 islands) in EA.
It's simple and a bit repetetive, with rewards somewhat limiting your play (you only can use troops that you won in previous maps which are finite or buy them from the shop).
There is persistant upgrade mechanic too, so there is something to work towards for, but once you unlock it all that's it.
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 as it is. Fun, but repetetive, so I played it over a few days. Not a binge material.

Great tug of war style game! The game so far took me less then six hours to beat, but i'm sure more will be added. For the current price there's a decent amount of content, however I hope for much more since I really like the game. I would recommend this to anyone looking for something to just chill and play.

its fun and has good controls, but it reminds me of some mobile games or free to play flash games i have played in the past. What it does it does very well but it doesn't bring in anything i haven't seen before. if you like tower defense push pull games like clash royale, or tower conquest then this is a great game that you can be sure to find lots of fun in. I like what they tried to accomplish here but for the price tag i was hopping for more. Yes this is early access but in its current state i can't say the value is there for me personally.

At this point I've experienced basically all the game has to offer at this point in time and can safely say what is there, is good. The visuals are real nice, sounds great too. As it stands I've only had 2 significant issues and these are things that are probably gonna be addressed as time goes on

1) The UI, scaled to 100% is still, least for me, tiny, I can hardly make text out which can sometimes be a bother. Can't see units proper until I spawn them. Limited use items I cannot tell how much I have left, and other such things. I hope in the future smart scaling or just a larger scaling choice becomes a thing
2) Difficulty scaling. From the hardest campaign to the easiest skirmish, the somewhat randomised state of the enemy spawning and loadouts in general has meant I've lost a few pretty unfair games. Good example was when I lost my first campaign as the last place to take only had 2 enemy units- the Jeep and the Truck, both units that spawn infantry. Not too bad on its own- but when I get 4 at the start of the mission as over a quarter of the round time is the highest difficulty from the start? It didn't matter how much easier it could get, I was being swarmed and no amount of equipment I had on hand would clear all of it

Both of those aside- this is fun as hell. You put it on, you sit back, and you watch your guys go to work. I am looking forward to it develop. Maybe some more game modes, stuff like having no timer on your missions or new units, just general stuff. For now though?This game is fun, and if you can put up with a few minor things, you'll enjoy it

fun looking game withheld by awful game mechanics

seeing footage of this game it looked really fun, and it was fun until i realized the game mechanics of this game are flawed and should really be removed.

units in this game are obtained by card like things. there is a loadout, putting these cards in will be removed after a round completion. so if you have 1 card of a heavy gunner infantry, use it, you don't see that troop again after finishing the round until you find it in the RNG shop or possibly winning one after a battle.

i went to the last stage, couldn't beat it because i had no good cards besides the cheap 20$ gangsters and some barb wire that lost instantly to the 1 shot shotgunners as they were in massive groups spamming my base. not fair that the AI doesn't start off the same as you, they have a lot more. i'd just prefer a classic pick and use what units you want, not pick and use what you can get.
