Über das Spiel
WARHAMMER 40,000: INQUISITOR - PROPHECY

Was will man mehr?
- Skillsystem mehr als brauchbar
- vielfältige Skillungen/Spielweisen möglich
- komplex (gerade die Kombiantion Skills/Attribute/Boni/Waffen)
- blutig, brutal (so wie 40K halt sein soll!)
- Endgame sehr Grind-lastig...

- neue Waffen, Equipment etc.
- Abwechslungsreiche Missionen, in der Storyline, ansonsten wie im Hauptspiel
- zwei neue Gegner Rassen mit verschiedenen Klassen
Cons:
- Random Mission weiterhin nicht sehr abwechselungsreich
- Memory Leaks weiter vorhanden
- Inquisitor weiterhin nicht besonders stark zu individualisieren
- Loot manchmal etwas schwach

You play as one of 4 very powerful inquistors each with their own backstory. An inquisitor that is basically a space marine? check. certainly powrful enough to defeat Chaos Marines! You wanna become a Psyker, wielding warp abilities to rip your enemies to shreds? Yup. An assassin with VERY unique movement and abilities? oh yeah! A cyborg with powers not dissimilar to a necromancer, but y'know, WITH SCIENCE. MWAHAHAHAHAAaaaaaaaaaaa

Somewhere in between Diablo 3 and Path of Exile in terms of amount of playable end game content offered; while much easier than any of the diablo-clones out there. Very noob-friendly, seasonal content is also easy to achieve.
The only downsides I can think of:
-Optimisation is meh, you have to tweak it a bit to run properly even on a modern rig;
-A few bugs here and there, but there used to be much more - so the progress is obvious;
-A semi-dead community. It's next to impossible to find not an out-of-date build or proper knowledge base.

Even with two kids and mostly nocturnal playtime. progression is pretty fast until level 60 (1-2 evenings) then it's grinding time for better stuff and build oriented equipment, but still you'll want for more and the crusades / seasons / dlc dungeons give some welcome changes.
Definitely recommended for Diablo fans and casual daddies !

The rest is what you can expect from other diablo like action RPG games. With morality RPG element, you can either be puritan or radical inquisitor.
That said, this game have one of the worst DRM protections I ever saw in a single player title. Which results in having lags in single player instances, or being kicked out of the game if you have internet issues or if the game servers do.
This issue is bad enough that I can't recommend this game to anyone but the most die hard fans of W40K universe, that can stomach poor performance on some maps, or sometimes game breaking lags out of nowhere.
Shame that NeocoreGames decided to go with this invasive garbage. Pirates wouldn't buy you game anyway. As always the only people that are affected with this, are your paying customers.

Literally my only complaint is Thorn. He is just a terrible representation of a Space Marine along with his entire Chapter that you end up dealing with as a part of the campaign/DLC. Whoever did the writing for this game seems like they read a bunch of Dan Abnett's inquisitorially based books and ignored anything about the Adeptes Astartes. BUT luckily it is so minor that it doesn't really get in the way.
Portions where you're controlling vehicles feels a little clunky but they seem to be overpowered enough that it doesn't really matter. Those missions just tend to take a little longer than one where you're playing your actual character and they are still a decent break in what you're doing.
If you're a Warhammer fan, pick this up. Its worth it. Would honestly say this deserves to be on the shelf with Space Marine and Dawn of War as best 40k games.

My favorite ARPG right now. Maybe because I crave a good 40k game, I enjoy this a lot more than Grim Dawn, D3, and PoE.
Engaging story and great world building. Lots of lore, which you just don't get in an ARPG.
Good build customization.
Great visuals.
Don't know how this was when it launched but currently it's extremely underrated. One of the best ARPGs. Fantastic support by the devs.

I live in an area with unstable internet connection, and it drops out every 10 minutes or so for a few second then comes back.
You cannot start a level connected to the internet and finish disconnected, it drops you from the session. even in singleplayer mode, with nobody in the level but you. Make it to the end of a mission, lose connection for a second? progress in the level wiped out. Pointless stupidity of design, made to punish... who exactly? people boosting their SINGLE-PLAYER CHARACTERS??
Also, the story is pretty cool, seems like it was put together by some serious Warhammer lore guys, but the actual dialogue between characters is cringeworthy, poorly written DEFINITELY not proofread as attested to by the constant spelling, and grammatical errors, and the voice actors.... IDK, they did their best, but the scripts they were reading from are just so badly written, misspellings which translate into mispronunciations, three different members of an alien race pronouncing their own species name differently... it is just pathetic lack of attention to detail. I know Neocore games is a foreign developer, English is probably not their first language, but in my humble opinion when you create a game that is primarily marketed and produced in another language you should HIRE one of the many people walking around with doctorates of that language and have them proofread what you wrote. Like I seriously FEEL the voice actors pain as they are forced to say the wrong word, say things in clumsy, broken English, or make continuity errors.
I don't know that it can be fixed, and I regret buying it.

The Search for more continues…
Please note that this Review may contain spoilers from the Original game
Some key points that this Standalone Expansion offers:
1. New Playable Class
2. New Campaign
3. New Settings
4. New Enemy Races
Standalone:
W40K Inquisitor Martyr left us with a hefty cliff-hanger… An Uber powerful warrior, age old conspiracies mixed in with so much secrecy… An Inquisitor's dream job to depict!
Now it’s back continuing that story and with it comes some new goodies and features. A new 2.0 rule set along with a variety of other mechanics that have joined the Prophecy. You do not need to own Martyr to play Prophecy, but if you do, your character progression will be carried over to Prophecy and you can pick up where you left off.
Standalone Contents:
• New Class; Take the fight to the Emperor's enemies as a Tech-Adept Inquisitor. Summon constructs to go into battle with you and enjoy a whole new battle concept.
• New Campaign, Three additional chapters have been added to the game, with one focusing on introducing the Tech-Adept class.
• New Mission settings to battle and lead missions on.
• New Races have joined the ranks of the soon to be dead. The Aeldari and the Tyrandis.
MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
Martyr was great in its own right. Sure, it had some flaws and issues, but they have done a decent job updating and improving the game. Prophecy is the next step, with it came so many new features and improvements.
Prophecy makes use of the same engine and mechanics that Martyr does, it was just overhauled and improved upon. The new 2.0 rules add some new challenges to the gameplay upping the antics, and the upgraded co-op campaign options really make this a fun game to play with friends.
The new enemy races along with the new settings breathe some new life and visuals into the game world, something it sorely needed and lacked with the original game. The continuation of the campaign takes the story to a whole new level of excitement. Prophecy also concluded the journey we have started way back then…
All things considered, if they take what they did in Prophecy and take it one step further a sequel will be very close to a Diablo like game. This is something we can do with, especially one in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

Overall, it’s… just okay. I really can’t bring myself to give it a negative review, but I also can’t find anything to praise it for. If you liked Martyr and want to replay it as a new character - you can easily give Prophecy a try. If you’re buying the whole game and wondering whether you should buy the whole package right away - only if there’s a discount. If you played Martyr before, but weren’t particularly satisfied with it - give it a pass, there’s nothing to see here.

Provided a nice break from Grim Dawn but nowhere near as much flexibility in class customization.

Pros:
- wh40k universe
- interesting story line for such type of a game. Not too short either (10 hours of singleplayer fun is already more than in many other such games)
- good enough graphics
- many different opponents (usualy wh40k games are lazy cashgrabs who give you one-two enemy races to fight and sells you all other in DLCs. Luckly here you will face many wh40k races from the start)
- satisfying combat, especialy when the hordes of mutants, daemons etc. pour from behind the door only to be shredded by your team's bullets. Nothing special but that's how wh40k combat should work. :)
Cons - as all such (diablo-like) games:
- becomes repetitive after few hours
- equipment is just a forgetable pile of garbage and just a bunch of statistics. There is also no logic in the bonuses it gives whatsoever (like eg. sight enchancements could minimise fire spread, increase accuracy or give you movement detection, infrared or whatever. No - its mostly random set of bonuses). You dont feel like having cyber enchancements at all! Even old Syndicate Wars game was better at this! You also dont feel like specialising in any particural type of skills (like heat attacks etc.) beacause its so random you stop giving a s.... after one hour of play. It seems the only set of skills that is promoted in this game is summoning.
- side missions are waste of time
- combat is simplistic. Its all about stats and awareness (knowing where to stand, how to hide behind your summoned robots and when to fall back). Cover mechanics is so bad its not even worth to mention.
- the worst thing is that you basicaly have three weapons to choose from (including 1 melee). At least I did not find any after 10 hours of play. Thats really boring, especially when wh40k universe has many cool weapons to shoot.

Visually and technically the game is correct, like a sci-fi diablo, however the missions and mechanics getting stale after a while. Mission objectives are not very entertaining, same repetitive maps and enemies.
They really capture the wh40K feeling, but having the same tileset for mission after mission, same types of eneies mission after mission gets old quick.
Extra side goals are very grindy, also crafting and modifying items are about grinding for resources (lots of loot to grind to resources or sell them for money to be able to modify the better items).
Multiplayer aspect is primitive - coop gamemode is like putting you together with 3 random people on a same mission what you did dozens during the campaign. Interaction betwen the players is negligible.
Simpli you cannot make friends in the game, because there is no opportunity to play together (things might be different when you have friends already playing this game).
I haven't seen the guild system, if there are any interesting features offered by it - I applied to 5 large guilds recruting, but none of them responded. It may even happen they are not active, or IDK. I wonder if mulltiplayer aspect will be better in guilds, but I have the feeling I shouldn't expect big difference.

Here I am: I want to continue following the story, but I don't know that I can bring myself to do it. The voice acting is top notch, it feels like the setting is very Warhammer, and I'm intrigued by the missions. So, what's the issue?
It's the gameplay. It's dragged down by a combination of factors, and if the developers would improve any one of those factors, I think that it could be saved. The issues are:
1. Gameplay is repetitive.
Maps are hand created out of a series of tiles and there aren't enough of them. You'll see the same layouts again and again, repurposed for different missions.
Enemies have no variation in skills or behavior. If you've seen one Rebel Sergeant and its turrets, you've seen them all. They all play exactly the same way, every time.
The skills that you use during play are determined by your character class and your weapons, and you don't really change or develop them over time. There's a little variation in the psyker's psychic powers and the tech-adept's summons, but not much more, especially once you spend your passive points to support whatever you're doing. You'll be doing the same thing over and over again to kill enemies.
2. Progression is glacial
Once you get past the beginning levels, it takes many missions to gain even a single level. Missions might give 1000 XP for completion, yet you'll need 40,000+ XP to reach the next level. Killing enemies doesn't provide that much more, either.
Bottom line is that you are in for a slog to reach the endgame or to unlock anything new.
3. Loot upgrades are rare
In any ARPG, much of the fun is in sifting through your loot drops, looking for upgrades. In Inquisitor, you will be doing a lot of sifting. Even if it weren't for the focus on skills tied to weapons and your investment in passives, which serve to narrow what gear is worthwhile for you, it's amazingly uncommon to find a new item that you're happy to see.
Many levels can go by without anything really meaningful dropping for you. And when you combine that with the agonizingly slow pace of progression, it's demoralizing.

The most disappointing part of it is constant loss of loot and time.
So decide for yourself, if you can put up with it or not.
On the whole I like the game, but as long as this problem is there I cannot recommend buying it :(.
Hope, the devs will look into it soon.
PS: Seems like campaign missions (in comparison to random ones) are much smoother as far as connection is concerned (in coop mode).

The games structure is weird, as it can be played as both a standalone or integrated game in steam (each with their own stats and listed achievements). If you own Martyr and are using existing characters then the new missions are available once you finish Martyr’s main story with the existing 3 classes. Or you could skip straight to the new content by picking the new class. If you don’t own Martyr then you can only play the new content. Co-op is effected by this as well, while random missions can be mixed between all characters the tech adept can’t join Martyr story missions, and the 3 classes from Martyr can’t join the tech adepts unique first chapter.
The story continues from where Martyr finished (or just before when playing as the Tech priest), in where the Martyr has reappeared from the warp, and you are eager to recover the alpha subject at any cost. Because of the disturbances in the sector, other ordos factions are now active to combat the rising Xeno and Chaos threats in which you are required to help to further your own goals. A lot of Martyr’s missing plot points have been fleshed out, as to how the alpha subject came to be (she shouldn’t be able to exist according to the universes background), as well as why all the other factors are after her so desperately.
Gameplay as the tech priest was very different to the other classes, he’s very squishy and doesn’t have good defence, but can summon robotic helpers that do the killing for him. I found myself using the cover system a lot more to get around this, which wasn’t something I had to worry about too much with the other classes. Each of the summons are different enough to be worth taking (ranged vs melee, singular attacks vs AOE) and can complement each other nicely, or you can focus on one type for max usage of perks, though I found myself only sticking to the Kastellans after I unlocked them for their strong melee and large HP pool. The tech adept has 4 unique tech trees to invest points into, all that unlock options for his summons or make them stronger. Being able to summon multiple separate minions, and change their abilities and loadout was very different, and adds a raft of diverse combat possibilities as well as new upgrades and equipment to try. While each mission is set to your current level the tech priest character will finish the campaign at quite a few level lower than what the other classes will, as it misses the content and missions from Martyr. This leaves you having to grind out more random missions for XP afterword’s if trying to max out your character. I liked how the 3 ordos chapters now have unique weekly missions that add a 3 new item shops for you to access, all which have end game content that you can unlock.
Prophecy uses the same engine as Martyr, so all the existing pro and cons are still there (I didn’t play pre 2.0 patch, but I like what currently implemented). I liked the desert worlds (more options are always good), but they are just a new tile set. Both of the new races matched their background, and it was good to see the Tyranids units actually match the in universe lore by being far larger than basic characters and not defaulting all synapse bosses to being a hive tyrant. The Eldar for a dying race seem quite happy the rush into combat and die, but their units are well represented. Void missions have now been expanded (these act as mini campaigns that get harder as you play and usually drop a lot of end game content if completed), with there being 7 types of them now.
The tech adept has the same stilted speech and computer-like thinking as the tech priest your rescue in Martyr, which fits the setting and character well. I found the many in game joke well done, though they might be lost on those that don’t know a lot of the 40K background. I couldn’t advise if new music tracks were added, but it still fits the setting perfectly and I thought was quite good.
All of the existing DLC is available in both Martyr and Prophecy, and the only question you have to ask yourself is do you want to save up in game and purchase it, or pay a few $ to have it available straight away. Personally I would advise against paying for any of the DLC except for the City of Pain and Maelstrom of Carnage as they offer very decent rewards for completing and can help you get good equipment quicker/early game. The rest can be unlocked in game (with enough glory), and all of the mini campaigns are relatively short (3-4 missions and they finish)
Getting 100% achievements for Prophecy is quite easy, as none of the achievements are hard to unlock. If you are playing through launching Martyr however, this will add an additional run to your list (and the achievements don’t sync across games).

Other notes. It's a below average ARPG. Better then torchlight, but inferior to pretty much every other ARPG in existence. Only get if you really really have a 40k itch to scratch, or on sale.

- does not require Martyr
- does have a full campaign (exclusively for Tech-Priest)
- does not include other characters from Martyr (unless you own Martyr already)
- if you own Martyr, then you only need to have this installed to get full access to the game and all original characters transfer over
- also includes the original campaign from Martyr
- kicks hecka @ss, i mean c'mon, it's a 40K aRPG and after a few years of polish, they finally got it all right
Solid game. Get it.

If you had a time machine and went back at launch and told me this was going to be good and DOW3 was going to be crap I would have called you crazy.... but it's 2020 and the world is going insane. But that statement is true.
But this is worth getting. It was a dumpster fire at the initial Martyr release, but now.... no lie it's good.

DONT BUY IT!!!!!!!!
Bugs over bugs over bugs. One character of mine cant sell any items, the shop freeze and after 2 minutes i can try it again and it freezes again. Another character cant finish rescue missions, cause the rescued troops wont teleport away on the teleport podest. My other character..... Oh forget it, im done.
Its no fun. In the forum her eon Steam are many threads with bugs, and noone even answers.
Stay away from this game until the bugs are done. Without the bugs it would be a fun game.

Do you like aRPG?
It has its shortcomings at the endgame, like no co-op in Void Crusades. All in all the game is a lot of fun to play and I love summoners so that got me in to playing this game with the tech adept of the expansion. If you like aRPGs with decent graphics and if you love WH 40K, its a great game. Its not a tripple A title but its definitively very good at what it does....
Brings back runewords and random mission modifiers both buffs and debuffs that you can indirectly effect. Good game, fun time to be had as long as you're aware its not a tripple A game, its a lot of fun nontheless.
I've got more than 27 hours in it, the original game Martyr tracks its own stuff, Expansion does too! 50ish hours in and still loving it :)

Prophecy expands the game in a meaningful way, but suffers from the same problem that Martyr has (see my Martyr review).

This game is the fucking shit man, Diablo aint NEVER getting near this game IMO, it's so fucking good!
If you've tried this at launch and found it dull/unplayable like me, trying it again will be the only thing ya need to do, because this game is everything I ever wanted in a Warhammer40k game, good fucking job developers!
