Über das Spiel

"It is not enough to serve the Emperor, or even to love Him. You must give to Him all that you had, all you have, and all you shall ever have. You must give yourself over utterly and entirely to His divine will and become a vessel of that will. Only then is your sacrifice fitting."
— From the Rule of the Sororitas

A new faction joins the war for Gladius Prime: the Adepta Sororitas, with eighteen new units and unique gameplay mechanics.
The Adepta Sororitas, also known as the Sisters of Battle, are the militant arm of the Adeptus Ministorum. Pure of heart and fanatical of devotion, they place the worship of the Emperor above all other concerns. They maintain holy places anywhere where His subjects might be served, tending to the needs of the poor and the sick as well as spreading the word of His glory to all that might listen. But not all are worthy, and for those that aren’t - only merciful death can be granted.

Gameplay Mechanics
  • Shield of Faith: Units have an Invulnerable Damage Reduction against all damage and a Witchfire Damage Reduction.
  • Acts of Faith: If they have enough morale, units can perform Acts of Faith abilities to get temporary bonuses.
  • Holy Trinity of Weapons: The main weapons of the Adepta Sororitas are the Bolter, the Flamer and the Melta.
  • Sacred Rites: Pay influence to provide one short Faction-wide bonus to the Adepta Sororitas. Can be upgraded to two Sacred Rites at once.
  • Martyr Spirit: When a unit dies, adjacent units benefit from a 17% morale loss reduction for 1 turn.
  • Convent of Faith: Each tile in a city confers +1 Loyalty.
  • Requisitions: Food and ore resources are replaced by a single soil-independent requisitions resource.
  • Sororitas Holy Site: Exploring a Sororitas Holy Site with Hospitallers gives a research reward. The quantity of Holy Sites scales with the map size. The research reward scales with the number of turns.
  • Oath of Faith: Broken units cannot use their Shield of Faith and Deal 50% less damage instead of 33%.
  • Religious Enclave: All the cities of the Adepta Sororitas built after their first are limited to a one-tile radius and cannot develop further.

Sisters of Battle, the tiny review.

Sisters of Battle are awesome!!! I really like the unit variety as well as the flavor text they have. These ladies have it tough though. In the mission, they have to fight everyone and boy, it can be tough. The right combination can lead to great synergy. The wrong combination, or a lynch pin unit dying leads to complete disaster. They might be harder to play than the Imperial Guard, and that's saying a lot.

Great buy. If you're uncertain, there's always a sale around the corner.

Seems good, balance towards the end game is lacking though. I play 2 players vs 3 impossible AI on massive maps, so consider my situation somewhat extreme example, as armies clash at tier 10 tech usually, with city amount being around 4-7, around 180-200 turns until victory is decided and only mopping up cities is left.

tl;dr

Mixed overall, but assuming some late game buffs probably pretty solid going forward.

-Strong early game, weak end game.
-Strong infantry with strong support abilities from heroes.
-Vehicles have no healing options to them, some buff abilities still work. All post tier 6 units are vehicles.
-Cheap aircraft, good for their price but can't survive much.
-Cities after first locked to 7 hexes, cause normal city penalty. Tile loyalty bonus helps with capital a lot, with satellite cities it falls off after the third city or so.
-Burn the heretic.

The sisters seem pretty good faction early to mid game, doing damage and surviving most greys with relative ease, loyalty bonus from tiles helping with the initial building requirements quite a bit. Towards the end their secondary cities show their limitations, as lack of space and still causing the regular loyalty penalties causes cities to give diminishing returns faster and more pronounced than other factions.

Sisters from my total of 2 attempts seem to stall their economy, which combined with their lack of exceptional t8-10 units and general lack of air defense causes them to be rather weak against the AI hordes, which usually start with a mass of aircraft followed by a mishmash of everything they have to offer spanning far and wide. Speed is pretty good overall, melee ranged t10 unit is ok with great stomp attack, but can't carry the army alone like stormsurges, scorpions, gorkanauts and mek guns or other big boys. Lack of production and economic power means you're not overwhelming the enemy or really even surviving the front lines with sisters units alone. Heroes seem kind of weak overall, focusing on buffing infantry more than dealing with the enemy directly. Works early on, then fizzles.

Faction does feel like a good one overall, distinct from others with their own specialities. Sacred rites can be a little tedious and hard to remember, but they offer some pretty decent boosts with good flexibility. Not as good as space marines of astra militarum variants, but different enough to make it work.

Possible ideas for end game balancing:

-Make canoness buff vehicles as well, currently the big accuracy buff only affects infantry.
-Vehicles lack staying power, as they don't have any healing support. They also have a little weak damage against big units like vehicles and monstrous creatures, combining quite nastily. Something to either heal them rapidly near front lines or more oomph to avoid getting shot so much.
-Reduce loyalty penalty of satellite cities, or only apply it to the capital. Possibly make satellites offer outpost bonus to the capital like Marines, but maybe too similar effect on top of everything. Maybe cheaper city building, as they produce less.
-Anti air capability is seriously limited, but so it is for tyranids as well. Again, combination effect with lack of staying power and generally lower damage output and reach.
-Add more transport vehicles, single t1 transport with capacity of 2 units, speed 4 is bad.

They don't play like Space marines or are a Skins... I sense a lot of Anti-Female tone on the negative reviews... seem certain people are frustrated at other things with the opposite sex..... Many seem not to have played them enough. For me the differences are very clear.

The Sister of Battle are more like a mix of all three imperial factions with some unique stuff thrown in. and are kind of Ork like they have to be close to deal high damage.

In my opinion they are a mix between Ad.Mech, Imperial Guard ,Adeptus Astartes and Greenskins. The only thing they resemble SM is that the battle sister units are similar to the Space marines basic unit... that's literally it... they play very differently.

Main differences Basically all)
1-Melee oriented/Close ranged- They are closer ranged than the SM, they don’t really have long range infantry, their focus is “more in your face”. Each infantry unit has ones special abilities with cool down. The only similarity is the Battle Sister unit with the Basic Space Marine unit. That’s it. They don’t have long range sniper options. They are infantry focused.
2-Vechicles- Their weakness in my opinion. The AS Vechicles resemble more Adep. Mech play style. They tend to deal Hight damage up close but are fragile on the defense. Most Vehicles are close ranged, there is only one long-ranged which is good at everything. They also don’t have the mobility of the Space Marines. Bikes, scouts etc. I also cannot find any vehicles repair option
3- Heroes- Are mostly support heroe’s the only one mean for long battles is Celestine, the Canoness is decent in melee sucks at ranged, her abilities greatly empowered the basic units, and the Dialogue is gully support it sucks at fighting.
4-Support- Their support for infantry is key, they are in your face aggresive faction, their most important is the Healer unit the Hospitaier… is just essential to have 2 for each army. If they lose their Hospitalier they lose their close ranged pressure, it keeps them going. Dialogue and the Hospitalier have hight mobility.
5- Individual Rites- All infantry units have them, they are are one time use with cool down very usefulll and key to stack with their support heroes for one time damage to single our target in this regard they are very similar to Ad.Mech

In my eyes they should be medium difficulty because they have many small intricacies that make them complicated if they don’t mesh, They can build one big expandable city and the next cities after are limited to on space around them.

Certain units need to be played like Space marines like the Zephyrs, Immolator, and battle Siters. Other units need to be played glass cannon like the Adeptus Mechanicus like the Repentia, Mortifer, Retributor some units have similar roles like the SM but need to be played up close like the anti-armor specialist the Dominions.

My composition for a basic unit is is for the frontline 3 Battle Sister, 1 Canoness 1 Hospitalier. More advanced and alter on 3 B.S, 1 Retributor, 1 Repentia, 1 Dominion, 1 Cannoness, 2 Hospitalier 1-2 Mortifier. I vary the army depending on the foe. The Repentia and Retributor are for finishing up enemies the Dominion anti armor . The mortifier are fragile but they deal hight damage they can serve as the reserve as Anti- Armor and Anti-infantry.

Pro’s
+Melee/close oriented
+Some units fast and high damage
+Morale focused they lower morale fast. They have high morale too and abilities to increase morale.
+Strong support and healers.
+ Individual unit special rites.
+ Infantry focused strong in groups.
+ strong armaments on the citys flamer, melta and bolter.
+ Rites are very usefull and key to their gameplay.
+ strong anti armor but close ranged (Repentia, Retributors)
Cons
-few long range options.
-Lack of vechicle repair
-Vehicles are not the best.
-Hard time recovering from loses.
-I think is me but I found their citys tend to be weaker hit point wise.
-Some are Weak individual fighter without support.
- Vehicles don't have a repair unit they need to be healed by turn or by a Special rite that heals all units.

I recommend them.

Glad the community is coming together to make fun of the guy claiming this is a Space Marine reskin. This faction DLC is awesome and they play very differently to Space Marines imo. I don't like playing Space Marines but so far the Adepta Sororitas are awesome. Especially love getting to hang out with Saint Celestine.

Solid Faction DLC and definitely worth a buy if you enjoy the base game. The Sororitas do have some similarities with Space Marines but the unique mechanics and units give them a completely different feel. If you enjoy Space Marines in the base game you will probably really like this faction. The models and unit quality is really solid as well.

Super happy to see this game getting support several years later. I really hope that the developers are able to finish out the roster with the couple of remaining faction DLCs over the next couple of years!

Very fun, unlike the mental midget a few down.. its not just space marines reskinned..

The armor is nice, the immolator packs a decent punch.. an the tank.. is a damn tank.. 2 different shells, that do pretty damn amazing damage depending on what you are fighting.. The melta guns make the bad Angry Orbs go poof.. an the fire.. is a glorious purge =)

If you like this game and liked other faction DLCs, you will like this one. Has a space marines feel, which makes sense, but still feels unique and they do a lot of things space marines don't. (Multiple cities for one) Plus all the units are total babes.

I'm grateful these devs keep adding more content years after release. This game is great and new factions/units add a breath of fresh air; this DLC definitely does that. Personally I believe this is in the top 3 of first DLC factions to pick up. I own all the factions and this has been my favorite first impression.
