However... there simply isn't any other game like wargame. So if you want a colad war RTS with an incredible unit variety and large scale battles, this game is worth it despite all its downsides.

Quality and the future over Quantity and the past.
Also toxic community that kills everything new and innovative, anything different than Wargame, Eugen does. Although I understand that after thousand of hours lost trying to play this mess, made them paranoid.

I nearly always play as one of the Blue teams, and used to think my strategy of waiting for the Red team AI to send masses of high cost T-72 tanks/BMPs rushing into cities so that I can pick them off with low cost infantry was an AI glitch.
I now realise this is 100% true to life.

1) Join a multiplayer lobby only to be cussed out in 3 different languages (One is ALWAYS Russian)
2) Get mercilessly Heli-rushed by some guy with 800 hours just using that one heli deck
3) Wanting to test out a new deck that you just created to avoid using the meta to only get your world rocked by some Komandosi or Spetznaz
4) Wanting to try out a really powerful unit that an enemy was using against you, to only realize that A, its not that good, and B, it was only good because you're bad
5) Getting your expensive fighter jet that theoretically should beat anything get stunned by some drunk Ivan with a MANPAD so now your jet is left completely vunerable to even the North Korean Airforce
6) Getting frustrated to always loosing against FINPOL decks so you make one, only to get your 3-stack of Komandosi Nighthawked, and then ruthlessly pushed
7) Go back to BLUEFOR and make some deck that finally starts to click, until your glue sniffers sitting in you M163s and PIVADS to let a B5 bomber through and now you don't exactly have a fighting force
8) Decide to play with some artillery until all of your brand spanking new paladins that have been alive for 5 minutes to only get Smerched
9) Face a lot of DLC decks in Multiplayer
10) And finally, the crown jewel of the Wargame Expereince; The Global Chat. One does not explain this, one has to experience this
Overall, i despise this game due to all the mental torture it has given me. But then again sitting down with a couple of friends and playing together is super fun due to all the things you can do, including *BEST KOREA* deck spam.
To sum it up: 11/10, would get helplessly heli-rushed again

But, the AI.... Cheater cheater pumpkin eater. It can shoot a tank round at you through the same forest you can't even see it through. Artillery can pinpoint you from the other end of the map without recon. Your recon will be killed the moment it gets within its own sight of the enemy. Even on easy, the AI will disburse its forces perfectly with the lethal mix of AA, armor and infantry with artillery support and walk you off the map. Air support is useless without clearing the AA off of practically the entire map. The enemy sees everything you do regardless of its recon, while you must fight for situational awareness of every inch of ground.

2. Enjoyed it
3. They popped up a new privacy policy that requires me to grant them permission to track and sell my personal data
4. I refused, so the launcher closed. Can't play anymore.
5. I asked Steam for refund even though I've got 87 hours on record.
Eugen Systems thinks it's in their best interest to unilaterally demand I agree to let them own and sell my personal data and compile more of my personal data from 3rd party sources or they won't let me use the product I paid for?

Pros:
+ Awesome 1-1 scale visual experience
+ Reality-based operational-level combat
+ Complex combined-arms strategy
+ Outstanding graphics
+ INSANE number of nations to play as
Cons:
- Poor, simplistic, and cheating AI
- Limited campaign content
My only real complaint about this game is the lack of single-player value due to poor AI and limited campaign content. The AI in this game is very simple, and resorts to simply throwing waves of enemies at you. I have confirmed that the AI cheats by creating matches where you can only spend 1000 points and witnessing the AI throw 2000+ points of tanks at me in the first wave.
The thing about this game that keep bringing me back, in addition to the fun gameplay, are the number of nations you can play as which are featured in no other game in existence. For example, I have yet to find another game where you can play as the Israeli, Norwegian, Polish, Dutch, or Norwegian militaries (and there are even more). There are only maybe 2 other games out there letting you play as the Finnish military, but they aren't nearly the quality.

The first thing you'll notice about this game is that it is... extensive. There are thousands of units to content with; it will take you a while to internalize the basic differences between certain units so you can make appropriate decisions in-game. For instance - the difference between Moto shutzen and motostrelci is pretty powerful. You sort of need to browse the armory for a bit to do your homework. Good thing that deck building even by itself is weirdly enjoyable, especially because there is nothing to grind. (I previously played European Escalation, and I did not like how you had to unlock units based on your progress in the single player. This is a massive improvement.)
I would not consider myself to be that good at Wargame, but I'm trying. In other multiplayer games its possible for a few good teammates to carry the whole team. Not so much here, except maybe in the 10 v 10 tactical matches. This is a high intensity, high stress game when you are really into it. Minor mistakes (and usually dumb luck) can completely turn the battle.
The community is... something. Take it or leave it. Definitely a game mostly populated by hard right wing cosplayers by this point. For a game of this age there is still a good number of players though; you should be able to find a game with little difficulty.
The single player is not that great in my opinion. It's useful for learning how to play, but otherwise not very inspiring.
Naval combat is also pretty bad. Avoid it if you can.

I probably spend half my game time building and experimenting with various deck builds, only to see them get decimated by a rush of tanks and attack helicopters. I love the combined arms elements of this game. Everything works in tandem, like infantry and mechanized supporting each other. I also appreciate the lack of micromanagement. If I'm commanding a large brigade sized force I shouldn't have to tell my individual units to use certain things at certain times. I wish Eugen's Steel Division game was as good as this.
As for gripes, you'll find some scummy tactics in multiplayer, and maybe some sore losers who can't stand losing. The AI has a habit of knowing exactly where all your units are at all times, so they just immediately rush you and have all advantages over you.
Overall, probably the best Cold War-WW3 RTS I've played.

You will suffer, since the tutorial is just a manual.
You will watch YouTube Guides and practice against the AI.
You will get how the units work and which units exist.
You will notice how the AI can get exploited, because it just sends it's units to die en masse.
You will move on to Multiplayer and get beaten to death because you need to implement ACTUAL tactics now.
You will learn from your replays and slowly understand which unit to use in which situation.
You will understand how combined warfare works.
You will liberate the North Korean motherland with help of Soviet, East German, Czechoslovakian, Polish, Finnish, Yugoslavian and Chinese Volunteers and fight the French, English, ANZAC Forces, Americans, West-Germans, Norwegians, Swedes, Danish, South Koreans, Japanese, Canadians, Dutch and Israelis.
You will feel like Georgy Zhukov when you finally occupy all of Japan and the West-Germans are on the brink of collapse.
You will overwhelm the Americans with your superior Helicopters, Infantry and Strategies.
You will serve the Warsaw Pact well Comrade.

Ingredients:
1. 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
2. 1/2 cup white sugar
3. 1/2 cup brown sugar
4. 1/4 cup water
5. 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
6. 1 pinch salt
7. 5 apples - peeled, cored and sliced
8. 1 pastry for double-crust pie
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
2. Combine butter, white sugar, brown sugar, water, cinnamon, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, remove from heat and set aside.
3. Roll out half the pastry to fit a 9-inch pie plate. Place bottom crust in pie plate; pour in apple slices.
4. Roll out top crust into a 10-inch circle. Cut into 8 (1-inch) wide strips with a sharp paring knife or pastry wheel. Weave the pastry strips, one at a time, into a lattice pattern. Fold the ends of the lattice strips under the edge of the bottom crust and crimp to seal.
5. Pour butter-sugar mixture over top of pie, coating the lattice, and allowing any remaining sauce to drizzle through the crust.
6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), and bake until the crust is golden brown, the caramel on the top crust is set, and the apple filling is bubbling, 35 to 40 more minutes. Allow to cool completely before slicing.

Takes a lot of time and patience to get the grasp of the game, and RNG may fuck up your match a few times, but it still is worth it.
Currently, no title has very fast-paced, balls-to-the-walls action like Wargame:Red Dragon has, and it's playerbase is still decently active, still having ~1000-2000 players online.
I highly suggest you get this masterpiece when it is on sale, with the DLC too.
And yes, israel is the most annoying nation ever. Try it out, it's fun.

You have acquired the talent to eat glass, perhaps even to be very good at eating glass in spite of the pain and frustration it causes you. But was it worth the hundreds of hours spent chewing away at glass shards in the hope that they would eventually start to taste better ? .
I don't know, but what I do know is that I love eating glass.

There's no arcady rock-paper-shotguns mechanics, instead real-world tactics have to be used to win the day.
The bad news is that you need to use real-world tactics to win the day, and that is hard.
The skill gap is huge. The barrier to entry is high. This is basically the dark souls of RTS

Audio (7 of 10): Excellent, but voice dialog becomes repetitive very quickly.
Gameplay (9 of 10): Some realism was sacrificed to provide for a better gaming experience. Avoids making the game arcade like in its simulation, but simplifies where it helps.
Learning (8 of 10): While the game has many units it is well balanced, learning the basics is fairly straightforward, especially if you're a student of military tactics. If flanking, SEAD aircraft sorties, and Fire and Forget all sound like neat features you'll find them all. Regrettably a detailed analysis of combat effectiveness is hidden as the combat statistics don't reflect in game realities. For example high rate of fire weapons may go through ammo faster but may not attack any faster.
Stability and Bugs (10 of 10): 406 hours and no crashes, lockups, or hangs. I wish Microsoft Windows was this stable.
Overall (8 of 10): A superb, enjoyable game if you want a visually delightful military simulation.
Gameplay tips: I have enjoyed Red Dragon a great deal without mods, it's one of the few games that really doesn't need them to work around limitations. DLCs are great because you know exactly what you get before you buy it. All of the DLC units can be seen, just not used, in the main game.

tl;dr
Singleplayer: Boring, cheating AI.
Multiplayer: MASSIVELY broken balance and the DLC decks are 100% overpowered and pay to win. A last ditch effort to extract money from a dying game. No realism, no combined arms, no tactics. Just pure cheese. Absolutely no skill remains in Wargame. Your opponents are probably friends and unless you're quite good you have next to no hope of winning a match if just one of your teammates leaves a match.
The big selling point for WG:RD over WG:ALB was naval. Naval is broken and has been from the start... To the point hardly anyone even touches it. Singleplayer is boring and the AI cheat to ridiculous levels. Their aircraft will barely skirt by your AA that they can't even see ontop of many other various things.
Wargame initially had a good focus on combined arms and cooperation and micro-management between units. Over time, multiplayer has degraded into non-stop metagaming and cheese from the few remaining regular players who aim to take as much skill out of the equation as possible, making gameplay as unfun and insufferable as possible.
One of the most notable aspects of the meta in Wargame is that most players have no idea how to deal with enemy armored units whatsoever and balance has been beaten and hammered into place to make the most unskilled player capable of handling it. No combined arms, no tactics. Just click on your air tab and click on a tank you want dead. Easy as that. Your overmodeled, and probably made up, AT jet will very likely kill the enemy tank (of which he has less of or as many of as your AT jet, because that totally makes sense), with which he can only hope repel this attack with a disproportionately expensive air defense. He might, he might not, but that AT jet probably already fired it's missile anyway since they have almost the same range of heavy SAMs... So the target has little hope. If that isn't an option for you, you can simply use one of the various overmodeled and made up ATGM units. And if you manage to mess THAT up, you can just arty it. Arty is absolutely ridiculous in wargame. It is incredibly oppressive. Any reasonable location to have units is conveniently the exact size of the spread of cluster artillery and the AOE of tube artillery is ramped up to insane levels, leaving nowhere to hide. A 155mm has the blast radius of multi-ton bombs. Counter-battery is practically useless against anyone that figures out that holding shift queues orders.
Honestly.. I could probably ramble for hours on how broken the balance is in Wargame. It's complete trash. The DLC is actual pay to win and is even allowed in competitive matches! Steer clear.

Once you begin to move up that curve it becomes exponentially more enjoyable.
The name of the game is combined arms.
Online community, like most games, ranges from those who are saintly, willing to mentor and teach, to the absolute degenerate scum of the earth and just about everything in between. All I can say is, keep your head up and keep learning, the game is worth it to learn if you are interested in the cold war time period.

Its a steep learning curve understanding the game and its mechanics but once it hits you (took me 50 hrs +) its overwhelmingly good! The multiplayer game has so many different ways of playing that you never stop learning.
The only down side is that it seems to be a game at a dead end after years of no support and developer moving over to their newest creation witch is such a dull and boring game compared to WG RD. Anyways for all you loving what your seeing know there is a big communitiy online that you can easily find.
