Über das Spiel
Umgebung
Was hast du angestellt? Das musst du schon selbst herausfinden.
Spielmechanik

Jedoch sollte man an einigen Stellen durchaus etwas Geduld mitbringen.

SH, RE, The Forest.

So gings mir damit.

Whats the point of having a run button when its not working at all?
Why all the pills, light bulbs, candles and lighters that i find, wont end up in the storage room?
There is something wrong with the sanity meter, because I'm standing under a light bulb but still I'm losing my sanity.
I would not play this game without a tutorial to walk me through the path. I have no idea what the objectives are or where!, and its hard to search for clues because I have access to All the rooms and I keep dying for the lack of sanity.

Visage is pure psychological horror that doesn't hold back, a sweat-drenching dive into an absolutely horrifying world modern AAA titles like Resident Evil aren't bold enough to create in fear of loosing general audiences. There is absolutely no hand holding in this dark, soul-wrenching home, and it will take patience and bravery to explore its photorealistic halls. I cried. I screamed. I had a fantastic time. Visage is a work of art, an underrated gem which, for many, replaces the cancelled Silent Hill PT while pushing the boundaries of the genre.

The best sound design I've ever heard in a game, every single noise will send shivers down your spine. I struggle to even turn around, I cannot understate how scary this game is. Most of the the scares aren't even jump scares, the intensity of the atmosphere mixed with the sound, the story, paranormal phenomenon that you witness; it all adds up to one of the most intense fear induced pieces of media I've consumed. When the jump scares do hit you, they hit hard.
The puzzles are well done if you're able to actually figure out what to do while ***ting your pants. Experience this game if you are a fan of the horror genre. If you're not, stay very far away.
Edit: Completed it, pure catharsis.

The game takes place in a purgatorial house, with superb attention to detail in both image and sound, as confusion and discomfort slowly rise to disgust, horror and despair. The atmosphere of this game is excellent, and the opening scene sets the tone of a quite unsettling and adult exploration of regret. The pacing is a bit slow at the start, and it takes a bit of time to get the hang of what the game wants you to do, but it builds effectively and most of the game is neither too fast nor too slow. The puzzles are entertaining without being taxing, and there's not a lot of pixel-hunting. It is a story-driven game with little action or stealth.
It reminded me somewhat of Danielewski's amazing postmodern horror novel 'The house of leaves'. As a fan of both very bad and very good horror, I recommend this as the latter. If you care to spend an evening wallowing in a self-loathing Hell as grief and madness suffocate what is left of the world, then, this may be for you. Or, if you just like creepy atmosphere.

It does stink, though, having to sit there reading walls of text on where to step and when to avoid going insane in the dark for the umpteenth time. Visage is comprised of 4 chapters following the lives of 4 individuals who lived in, died in, and now haunt the same house (*I think*), with Lucy's and Rakan's being fairly straight forward and understandable. Dolores' and the final chapter are nothing but abstruse, though, and I have no idea how anyone can figure them out on their own -- especially Dolores' chapter. You can play three of the chapters in any order, so starting with Dolores' could potentially be painful. The inconsistency in difficulty also lends itself to an inconsistency in gameplay, writing, and visuals. Some chapters and sections are much better than others -- most agree Rakan's is kind of a bland mess compared to the others, with a story and themes that don't seem to fit the rest of the game. The PT-inspired horror effects are also gorgeous most of the time, but then there are moments where everything looks and feels rough around the edges.
Or, well, Visage always feels rough around the edges. The controls are really counter-intuitive and meandering. Doing anything takes ages, but that's part of the charm.
Visage is a really worthwhile game if you're a fan of horror and adventure games -- old-school games, too. Underneath the AAA quality horror experience, Visage weirdly feels like a throwback to low-budget '90s adventure gaming.

I had no idea what my objective was the entire time I played, just that I needed to keep my sanity up. Also, I honestly didnt find it scary at all. Nothing happened. A light would turn off, the radio would turn on, and at one point I saw the ghost, but she was pretty bland and unoriginal. I died because my sanity got too low despite taking pills and staying out of the dark, which was the only thing the game hinted that I had to do, and at that point (90mins in) I didnt care enough about the game to try again.
The game said it would be hard, but theres being difficult to play, and then theres not giving the character enough tools to feel invested and capable. Between the annoying inventory management, weird controls and item interaction, confusing house layout, the over-hype for how scary it was, and the lack of direction, I got bored and stopped playing. Maybe it just wasnt for me, idk.

A game that gave me P.T.-SD
I must admit that it took me a year to mentally prepare myself for Visage. After its full release, I was terrified because I no longer had the ”unfinished game” -excuse. I am not the biggest wimp when it comes to horror games but there’s something genuinely hair-raising about Visage which makes me not want to play it – but I find myself coming back for more. It’s like a love-hate relationship. Why am I doing this to myself and why can’t I stop? I literally run through the house while talking to myself to maintain my sanity (in real life, not in the game lol) because I’m afraid that if I stop moving, the shadows will consume me. Visage might as well be the scariest game I’ve ever played.
This game is as difficult as the developers claim it to be mostly due to the disjointed puzzles and resource management, and you might often need the help of a guide. With four chapters to play through, I’d say this is quite a lengthy horror experience with many creative ideas and engaging gameplay. The unpredictability of the enemies and the omnipresent darkness will make your imagination go wild, but the constant deaths and difficulty in finding more resources while preventing the main character from going nuts might be off-putting. Occasionally, I was more worried about my progress and running out of lighters and pills than the ghost itself. So I ended up running from point A to point B as quickly as possible to keep my sanity at bay.
I just can’t stop thinking about this game; even my anxiety about the upcoming exams pale in comparison thanks to Visage. So if you want a way to cope with real life, play this. You won’t be scared of anything after this experience. It will make you a ghost too.

There are 3 chapters in the game:
The first one is Lucy’s Chapter, and it’s the scariest and the best one, in my opinion.
The second is Dolores's Chapter, very complicated in terms of puzzles, but less scary than Lucy.
The third is Rakan's Chapter, the worst chapter in the game. Unlike the first two, I didn’t find Rakan’s chapter very scary and at plot level I found it lower than its previous two chapters.
In addition, there is another chapter, which is playable watching 7 videotapes that you can find throughout the game. This last chapter talks about the protagonist, Dwayne Anderson.
Despite the 3rd chapter, Visage is the best horror game that I've ever played, and I highly recommend it.

I love looking around for items but for a casual horror fan be ready to search everywhere for every little item you can find. I want to reiterate when you get to the horror it is great sometimes even amazing, creepy figures in the dark, killer grandma ghost stalking you and trapping you in rooms, the little girl driving your sanity into the floor were all great. This part of the game I loved and is a shining game in light of the P.T Craze and Silent Hills cancellation. I just feel that in the early onset of the later chapters the steep cliff of searching and backtracking for items is fun for a little but wears out the fun after about an hour. This will get better if you start finding items in the chapters it becomes better in each chapter once the game focuses on horror and give you easy to find items to keep the momentum going.
The One thing that will keep you wanting to play this game is the amazing sound design, stellar atmosphere and all around great horror moments and elements injected into this game. Just be ready to fight tooth and nail with the items to find them, find where they go, and how to utilize them. all in all a great game.

It is great if you have a watch party with you or people by your side to help you with the game, it has a couple of difficult task's that will require of you to be very observant of what is in front of you.
(The game might be pricey compared to other horror games but the content and graphics are spot on with top notch audio quality)
I just wish sad-square studio's adds a DLC to this game, it was fairly short in my opinion.

Best horror game out there currently, truly a successor to P.T. The story is mwah 10/10 however the game mechanics and inventory are clunky and sometimes buggy. Some parts are convoluted making it confusing on what to do however that doesn't usually take away from the experience. Scares the living shit out of me while also making me want to continue playing. That's fucked up developers.

I appreciate it's not on rails (like Layers of Fear for instance) and holding hands too much but I don't have enough patience to enjoy the game, sadly.

The game is not very challenging. Sometimes it's not very obvious what to do, so I had to refer to a guide a few times. When you're running low on items, the game adapts and feeds you new items scattered throughout the environment.
The game looks very beautiful despite being shrouded in darkness a lot of times. The story is very interesting. Little hints are left in the environment that add to the lore.
My only complaint is that it's a little pricey for how relatively short it is. I 100% the game in about 15 hours. Wait for this to go on sale, but definitely don't wait much longer. It's a great experience. Very few games nail horror like this game does.

Quick Overview
Visage is a first-person survival horror game. It mostly takes place in a mysterious residence where our main protagonist, Dwayne, cannot escape. Even death isn’t able to break the link binding him to the house. And while the game’s tense atmosphere is one of its key highlights, both story and controls could use some improvements, which would make the overall experience less frustrating.
Pros
- Amazing atmosphere with great sound design.
- Hauntingly Beautiful.
- Generally good performance.
- Recommended for survival horror fans.
Cons
- Clunky controls and messy inventory system. Requires some adjustment.
- Disjointed storyline.
-- --
Gist of the Story
Dwayne Anderson awakens in a decrepit house surrounded by a horrifying and bloody past. With his memories scattered and lost, he must discover what binds him to this place and his relationship with the previous tenants. Why do their memories invade him as if they are calling out to him in agony and despair?
In the beginning, the story was introduced in a thought-provoking manner that absorbed me into the characters’ predicament. However, they were resolved in an anti-climactic way that left me baffled and full of unanswered questions. It became disjointed towards the end with unresolved plot points that were never brought up again. The story could have been stronger since the introductions of the characters were done well.
-- --
Gameplay
The story campaign is divided into three separate chapters with an interlude in between where you have to investigate changes happening in the building. Each chapter contains different objectives, and although there is no combat, a main boss appears in every chapter that can kill Dwayne. Fortunately, the checkpoint system is good enough and there is a quick/manual save option. The game does not indicate which chapter goes first, but story-wise, I do not believe it matters. The chapters are initiated by interacting with a key item, which allows Dwayne to delve into the memories of residents who used to live there.
At random times, Dwayne will also encounter paranormal events. These can come in the form of a door closing, lights flickering, or other supernatural phenomena. These events will drain sanity, and to counteract this, he must swallow some pills or calm himself naturally.
The game operates with a messy inventory management system and clunky controls that left me tearing my hair out. I eventually adapted to the controls as I progressed further. First of all, there is an overlap between item usage and the interaction button. More often than not, the player might accidentally use an item on hand rather than the action they were planning to do like opening a door. Dropping items is another issue, and it can be a hassle, especially during high octane moments such as a chase sequence.
Visage does not hold its players’ hands. It will leave you mostly directionless and it’ll be up to you to explore. The game cleverly employs sound or light cues to give you some hints as to where to venture next so you must watch out for those lest you miss them.
Lastly, the average completion time for the game is around 10 hours. 20+ hours if you are keen in searching for secrets like me.

Scary factor
Since Visage is labeled as a horror game, I must discuss the scary factor. I would rate it a 10/10. This game nearly made me soil myself.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2303605939
If you do not mentally prepare yourself, this game will terrorize you. Granted, even if you are ready, Visage will still frighten you in some other way. I had to take breaks in between game sessions because of the level of terror this game inflicted upon me. The atmosphere, the ambient sounds, every creak and thump will make you jump. I always say that making an effective horror game is not about how many jumpscares you throw at the player or even the “monster” that stalks you throughout the game, but how effectively the atmosphere can petrify its players. If it can do that, it is doing its job as a horror game. Visage nails that horror experience that I haven’t felt in a while. I see Visage as Silent Hills’ cousin (the one canceled by Konami). Even Visage’s looping corridors and taunting radio announcer is reminiscent of Silent Hills.
If you are thinking of getting this game and you scare easily, I would recommend playing Rakan’s chapter first. It is the least scary out of the three chapters. Other walkthroughs label it as the “third chapter,” but in the grand scheme of things, the story is so disjointed that it wouldn’t make a difference which chapters go first. Lucy’s chapter is the first chapter, and I would leave this last (it is also filled with nightmare fuel.)

Graphics and Technical Issues
For context, my specs are RTX 2070 super, i7 4790S, 12 GB ram. Playing on 2160p resolution. With my setup, I encountered no performance issues or crashes. It stayed at a constant 60 framerate. I have only encountered a few bugs like falling through the level, but nothing a quick reload couldn’t fix. I have seen a few players at the Steam Community mentioning texture pop-ups and other glitches, so you can learn more if you head over to the community section.
The game is hauntingly beautiful, and you can feel the house coming to life with each second that you are in it. SadSquare Studio did an amazing job with the level design.
-- --
Wrap Up
Visage is a true horror experience. I only have a few complaints like clunky controls, terrible inventory system, and a disjointed storyline. If there is ever a Visage 2, I wish they would improve on those aspects because it can turn players away, especially the awful control scheme. I stuck around for the scares, Dwayne and the other residents. His backstory was really intriguing. I have some theories, but in terms of how he relates with the others was a bit confusing. Even with a weak and disconnected narrative, fans of survival horror will be satisfied. I highly recommend this game to you. If you were saddened by the cancelation of PT, Visage might be as close as you will get to it.
Thanks for reading!

The story is simple but interesting and keeps with it's dark tone throughout while also giving some comedic relief through some of the secrets in the game.
The gameplay is excellent. The puzzles can be complicated but never uninteresting. There are no weapons which in my opinion, is the only way to experience real psychological horror.
I could go on for hours about how much I love this game, but you really just need to experience it yourself. It is so far above and beyond any other horror game that I've personally played and can only hope that sad square continues to make fantastic games like this one.

The graphics, the lighting, the story, the atmosphere are all very well done.
You gonna need a lot of patience, or a guide, to advance in the game because they tell you absolutely nothing and it can be hard sometimes to know what to do.
The inventory system is hard to get at the beginning but end up very useful.
Have fun discovering this terrifying game.

Pros:
1. Made 2 new friends whilst playing, Lucy and Dolores..
2. Really brutal, atmospheric scared me a lot and doesn't only rely on jump scares.
3. Extremely interesting story couldn't wait to find out what happened next.
4. The characters, music and sound effects were incredibly well done which made the game even more gripping.
Cons:
1. Will never look at a mirror or wardrobe the same way again..
2. Have an addiction to pills.
3. Closing doors gives you an arm workout.
Overall:
Absolutely loving this horror game so far, better then anything I have played of the same genre. I feel like this game has set the bar on what horror games should be or need to be. The bar it has set is extremely high as well, if you're into the horror genre and have played games that are similar I definitely recommend grabbing this one if you got the nerve to endure it.
I rate the game 5/5

It is a walking simulator that is too slow intentionally. Sometimes the game spawns enemies just in front of you, just after the autosave and you can't run away because they're too close. You have to restart the game and reload the game to escape from this bug.
Zoom does not allow you to look at the object closer. The animations are too long.
It has potential but it's too boring for my taste, too frustrating, and uninspired.

I’m forever chasing the high that few games other than the Outlast series and Resident Evil 7 have given me when it comes to horror. I’m always optimistic and often disappointed by what’s out there, though every once in a while I come across something that’s at least not a complete waste of time. A title that offers some enjoyment and even an occasionally legitimate horror atmosphere that keeps me pushing through to see what’s next. Visage falls into this category, and although it doesn’t quite hit all of the marks that I was hoping for based on its price and Steam reviews, I will say that it satisfied me enough that I wasn’t dozing off an hour in.
Home Sweet Home
The house that you spend most of your time in during Visage is not a pleasant one. Even when everything is relatively low-key, lights will flicker and go off, radios will pop on, and doors will slam around you. When the house has started to take its toll on your sanity, you’ll experience much, much worse. Four chapters detail the stories of the unfortunate souls who have lived (and died) here in the past. Each of them has its own theme that stands out from the others with puzzles and game mechanics that are different enough from the others that they keep the experience from becoming stale. As a matter of fact, I would even say that most of them are grade-A horror if you were basing it solely on the narrative and terror-inducing atmosphere. On a less fortunate note, the quality among the chapters varies wildly.
By chance, I ended up doing Rakan’s chapter before the others, though most seem to agree that it should be done last. The story was fairly bland as it involved a rugby player who was out on an injury that suffered from extreme scopophobia, a fear of being stared at. Although it’s nice to see that this character was worked into the game due to them being a backer who’s similar to the character involved, this chapter truly feels like it was forced in without the same level of passion and skill as the others. By the time I’d reached the end of his story, I was concerned about whether or not Visage was for me.
I decided to press on and see if the rest of the game was as dull and I was pleased to discover that it wasn’t. That’s not to say it was a masterpiece, there were plenty of flaws that I’ll dive into in the next section, but I played Lucy’s chapter next and found it to be worth the wait. Lucy is a young girl who you quickly learn had an ‘imaginary friend’ that she had bonded with. This friend was important to her, but as time went on, it began to become increasingly dominant leading to plenty of terrible events to follow. As opposed to Rakan’s chapter, Lucy’s was marred only by the rough-around-the-edges gameplay that seemed to not really know which sub-genre it belonged to, the primary flaw of this title overall.
True Terror or an Exercise in Frustration?
Visage builds tension and atmosphere better than most horror titles that I have played and I can say that with full confidence that most fans of the genre would agree with me. The house is big and creepy, the locations that you visit outside of it keep you on your toes, and the stories of those who came before are well-written and keep you wanting more. What frequently gets in the way is the gameplay though. Well, that and the Rakan chapter…
You’re informed that Visage is a difficult game from early on and this is accurate. You’re likely to die plenty of times from start to finish, though being chased by the entity of the chapter isn’t particularly exciting. There’s no way to hide, you simply run away until they disappear or they catch and murder you in an animation that loses its luster and takes up way too much of your time after you’ve seen it the first time. The scripted encounter sequences tend to do their job admirably, but the random appearances get old quickly. Puzzles are the name of the game here and I can’t even count how many times I was interrupted and chased around as I was trying to figure out what I was supposed to be doing next. You’ll likely find yourself forgetting about the excellent atmosphere often as your awe and suspense are replaced by frustration. At least the auto-saves are placed in convenient locations, for the most part.
An equally irritating flaw comes in the form of the inventory system. While I’m certainly not expecting to have my mind blown by a walking simulator-ish horror adventure, this one really took the cake for being a pain. Just about any time you’re going to use an item, you need to navigate through an inventory window while the world around you continues. I consider myself lucky that this didn’t kill me far more often than it did, though I’m under the assumption that others won’t have such luck and will become increasingly frustrated with it. I’m unsure whether it was the intent to have the feeling of digging through your pack while danger is closing in on you, but it was more of an irritation than an atmosphere builder.
Verdict
Visage is one of the better horror titles that I’ve gotten my hands on lately, though it’s far from perfect due to several notable flaws. An excellent setting with a flawed chapter is forgivable enough, but a horror game that loses its thrill by consistently killing the player is inferior to one that forces them through near-death experiences due to the simple fact that the segment is no longer new or frightening, but exactly what you’ve already seen. Others manage to strike a strong balance here by offering additional action and stealth mechanics that allow for these close calls, though Visage does nothing of the sort, forcing the player through events that require them to escape but without giving them any of the more fun and creative methods of doing so.
At the end of the day, Visage is a solid enough horror title that shows its PT inspiration, but it falls short of becoming an instant classic. I’d recommend it to horror fans who are looking for a new challenge and interesting setting to explore, though I can’t help but think that it would’ve been a significant improvement if it had leaned more into its excellent atmosphere and story more and its running sequences less.

The game takes place in a huge house in which terrible things have happened. You are Dwayne Anderson, who wakes up in an empty, bloody room. Dwayne will have to relive fragments of the house's dark history.
While exploring you have to watch out that you do not stay too long in the dark, it will decrease your sanity. The lower the sanity gets, the more paranormal events will happen.
Visage consists of 4 chapters. Chapters will start if you pick up some items (e.g. a key). There are 2 different endings, collectibles for achievements and missable achievements, so you may need more as 1 playthrough if you plan to get 100%.
Visage can be finished within 5 hours, but you will probably need more time on your first playthrough. Also it is a a slow-paced, atmospheric game. So you should have some patience. The game does not tell you what to do, you may end up being lost and run around the house for hours.
The graphics of the environments are fantastic, however the model design of the ghosts could have been a bit more better.
Sounds, music and voice acting is very well done.
Visage is heavily inspired by P.T. but it is still a kinda unique horror experience. From my point of view one of the best horror games I have ever played.
It is a great scary atmospheric horror game which I can definitely recommend to play and especially to play in the dark. I really enjoyed this game. Definitely worth the price.
Sounds 10/10
Graphics 9/10
Gameplay 9/10
Atmosphere 10/10

Starts with a bang, lets go halfway through
Introduction
????I do enjoy a good action/survival horror but as for the psychological category, I only go for them when they're either highly-acclaimed or a friend's recommendation. Visage succeeds at jangling your nerves and never letting you settle. However, some palpable design issues invalidate what it accomplishes at first. You control Dwayne, a man who has committed an unspeakable act and is now being tormented by ghostly visions of the previous tenants of his house. Through the four chapters of Visage, He must follow clues and solve puzzles to escape the house, all while maintaining his sanity and trying to stay alive.

Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned
Visage starts with a wholly disturbing and unsettling violence cutscene, lasting long enough to make an apathetic player like me feel uneasy. So bear that in mind when playing the game. You begin in an enormous house without a real sense of what is happening. The house in this state serves as a hub between the real and the surreal world. You'll be able to familiarize yourself with its basic layout in this state and save items such as lighters and pills into your inventory before setting out on unrelenting journeys.
Atmosphere is undoubtedly the most notable point in Visage. The environment itself is nothing groundbreaking; A large house that feels bland at first but as you progress through each chapter, it fascinates you more and more with its ever-changing design.
Each chapter focuses on recounting mental health and the debilitating effects of illnesses' of those who previously inhabited the house. Each arc tells a tale with a satisfying and gruesome ending that conveys the world that you’ve stumbled on. While they can be played in any order, Lucy's chapter servers as a prologue with its easier puzzles and forgiving moments. The next one, Dolores's chapter is the closest to what the game should've been. From there, it starts to falter in pacing and faithfulness to its original design that it feels utterly rushed and broken.
All that lurk in the shadows
You often find yourself retracing the corridors with a somewhat slowed pace. The game heavily relies on investigating the house and solving environmental puzzles which in return, dynamically changes its layout based on your progress or collected items. The jump scares and puzzles are laid out discreetly throughout the first two chapters, though, the second half becomes more of a cutscene mania with some cat-and-mouse games in between.
Janked inventory
Along the way, light sources and pills keep your sanity high. Consumables are limited resources, and you’re encouraged to be sparing with your stock as the house messes with your mind by slamming doors and shutting off lights. Let your sanity decrease too fast, and you’re likely to get a visit from something much worse than some muffled footsteps or a fleeting face.
Although, the real terror comes in when you have to use the inventory. Attempting to set candles down, arrange your inventory, or do anything with your items is often annoying due to clunky controls that could've been easily avoided by setting some hotkeys.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2296942041
Toying terminators
Throughout the game, there are scripted encounters with the villains when they just toy with you. In a game like this, if the villain has the opportunity to kill you and chooses not to, all the tension and scares that led to this point is lost. There are numerous encounters when they catch and supposedly kill you. But it's just a cheap gimmick used to excuse teleporting you somewhere else to progress through the story. It only nullifies the fear factor and eliminates the jump scares.
Regrettably, unlike Dolores's chapter where you can mostly finish objectives in the order you want, you're constantly expected to follow the villain's footstep that often results in finding solutions before the problem is created. The linearity could've been improved if it was given a little of RNG spice.
Dread and tension is in the air
Visuals
Visage creates a palpable playground for fans of horror to revel in, varying in different locations from lost treehouses to grim cemeteries and psychiatric facilities that offer an unnerving and mystifying experience. The level design is on top of the line here, to say the least.
Lightning effects are the blessing and the curse of the game. While it's been used effectively to create a grisly atmosphere, some areas are pitch dark without the slightest reflection while the light source is only a few inches away. This is a known issue when no light source points are specified in an area in Unreal Engine. Another horrendous draw-back is character models. They're often encountered remotely or in shadows, though, when you get a glimpse of them they are despicably unpolished.
Sounds
Audio design is just as effective as everything else in shaping its terrifying atmosphere. Visage does a superb job of layering rain, creaks, moans, muffled footsteps, and radio static to make this a constant threatening soundscape. The use of headphones is highly recommended.

Technical
????Specs????
GTX1050 2GB - Athlon II X4 645 - 8GB DDR3 RAM
The game runs with all settings set to the lowest, using about 80% of VRAM at 1680x1050 30 FPS.
????Bugs & Issues????
- Hand-held items get stuck in the environment
- FPS chugs a bit in certain areas but clears up after a bit
- Areas not loading in properly, thus you falling through the map
- Some objects clip into the environment, making it impossible to progress further until a restart
- Some dynamic items required for progress can disappear forever until a new playthrough is started
The bottom line
????Visage is slow-paced and unforgiving. Puzzles and exploration rely on a trial-and-error basis for the entirety of the game. This approach succeeds at delivering a horrifying setting early on but degrades to a cat-and-mouse game in the second half which isn't something the game was aiming for. Looking past some of the severe game design and technical issues, the game creates a gruesome atmosphere accompanied by disturbing and unsettling imageries that appeal to true psychological horror fans.
????There's not much to accomplish once the game is finished. However, completionists are in for a treat. Most of the lore is told via collectibles in the forms of comic books, VHS, and cassette tapes. The current base price is $35 which in my opinion is high, given there's a handful of game-breaking bugs and no ETA is given for fixing them.

Visage is divided into 4 chapters, which together can take more than 20 hours.
These are a nice number of dark evenings that you can fill with the jump scares that the game has to offer.
Often you will do it with little or no clue's until you find a clue while searching or spontaneously, so that you can work in a more focused way and know where to go or what to do.
The house where Visage is set is also very large and contains many rooms, it is therefore important to keep a map in your head so that you do not keep going in the wrong direction.
Also always look out for candles, you often find them in numbers but often they are also scarce and it takes a while to find, also be careful that when you use a candle that this candle is lit in a useful location.
While you shouldn't waste enlightenment, longer periods spent in the dark can trigger fear and the paranormal.
To prevent this you need to find pills, these pills you can take when the tension gets too strong so that you always keep both feet on the ground when you wander through dark corridors or rooms.
What is also very useful are the double controls, by this I mean that you can use both your left and right hand to hold two items, both items can then be used without having to go into your inventory to change items .
This may cause confusion at first, but as you use these dual controls more often it will become automatic.
I found it very helpful to walk around with a lighter and a jar of pills in both hands.
Before starting the game myself I read quite a bit about 'Visage' and also heard about it from a friend who was very actively playing on it.
My current experience has certainly shown me that these rumors are not exaggerated and that there is something to be expected further in the game.
This makes me very curious to experience terrifying scenes through, for example, virtual reality.

Advantages:
1. The game is super scary! That's a fine horror game to play on Halloween - gonna give you all the spooks you wanted. The ambiance is strong and the tension, the danger feel real. So you should definitely experience this game to get them chills down your spine!
2. The chapters (though I haven't played all of them yet) are so different and unique. It keeps the player invested and intrigued. I have played (or watched) 3 chapters (one on my channel, the vid is linked) and I think that each story feels very well- thought and unsettling enough on their own. Still, I can't help but feel that there is something even bigger going on apart from the 3 stories I experienced.
3. The resource management is actually pretty neat. It's a fun part of the game, managing the stuff you have, repairing lightbulbs, setting candles etc. Still, it is not as punishing as one might expect, so these element add fun to the game and don't cause much frustration (at least yet)).
4. The game focuses on exploration and makes the story unravel through surreal images which is very cool. It makes me want to replay some chapters to find all the secrets and learn more about the story. The game is not a run-as-fast-as-you-can-through-everything experience. It is actually an adventure which holds more secrets than you'd originally expect.
Disadvantages:
1. As good as the game design is, sometimes you can't help but get confused running around huge maps for half and hour, not knowing what to do next and how to proceed. The game has lots, even tons of hints - makes you follow the light, has sound cues, monsters and chase scenes - everything to keep you on track. Still, I can guarantee that you will be lost at least once in each chapter and gonna spend lots of time just being small brain and not seeing the obvious answer (and feeling even dumber afterwards).
2. The inventory is very hard to get used to. You have pockets and two hands with items you can use as well as random objects you accidentally picked up. Well, be prepared standing for minutes at one place just figuring out how to get what you wanted to get from your inventory and ending up accidentally using your sanity pills for no reason at all.
3. It's not always obvious what is counted as being in the dark. So, be ready that when you were busy figuring out your inventory, that you were standing not directly under a lightbulb but a bit away and your character was getting slowly insane. You'd think that's not a problem - we have sanity pills, but, oh wait, we accidentally consumed them instead of lighting the lighter before.
Overall:
Well, though there are lots of tiny frustrating moments which you definitely will have to face at some point, the game is marvelous. I'm enjoying playing every second of it and I think that you are going to enjoy the game too as you are here reading comments about this masterpiece. Don't hesitate - check the game out! Also, please, like this comment if it was useful (I hope it was), so it can be useful to other people as well)

Cursed are those who come across it, only the bravest of the braves can handle what this game has to offer and beat it with your heart and your butthole still intact.
If you play this game, you come out to be a complete different person, one of two types:
1. This is most probable: You've finally realized what true terror is and feels like, from now on your life's all upside down and you can't imagine a life with no lights on as even the thought of switching lights off make you tremble in fear.
2. In rare cases, you've become a person that has overcome all fear in life, your nuts grew astronomically in size and are so heavy, you can't walk proper. But nothing walks this Earth - dead or alive, that could even think of making you flinch because you've seen it all and you've overcome it with no difficulties. And you'd be crowned a king by Lucifer himself.
I needn't tell you which one of these I am, but if you want to find out what kind of a person you are or could become, definitely give this game a chance to probe you anally and give you a good time.

Ghost designs- Excellent ( Dolorise ghost could be scarier looking up close though)
Story- So far very good
9/5/10 - for the first two chapters we need the full release at least on PC.
SAD SQUARE STUDIOS YOU HAVE TO RELEASE THE PC FULL VERSION WITH CHAPTER 3 AND 4 if the consoles are holding you back. INFLICTION is a great example, they release the PC version first then the consoles. It is what it is.
The October time frame is the best time for you to release the full game.
It has been almost 5 years! Please respond to the fans soon. I Don't mind paying another 20 bucks for the other next 2 chapters but release them.

Lets start with the obvious, the game is visually stunning and the atmosphere is well made. The house you are in is very detailed, with all rooms perfectly fitting the environment and story. You really do believe you are in the situation youre set in, and thats big for me. Sometimes a game will try to sell you on a situation, but your scenery just dont quite match the vibe they are trying to get across. This game nails it. Visage does absolutely *NO HAND HOLDING*, which just makes the game even more fun and satisfying when you complete a challenge. Very few hints are given to you about anything, which will cause you to really investigate and become familiar with the house, but it is not impossibly hard where you give up, unless youre the type of person who if something doesnt occur within the time frame of 5 minutes, you uninstall. There is an in game mechanic (im being vague on purpose for no spoilers) that will keep you engaged during those periods of time where you might be stuck and exploring.
Im a streamer, and from that perspective it was a great game to stream. It draws in viewers, everyone is engaged during the experience, and my chat was creeped-out the entire time along with myself. If your a fan of the gameplay in RE7, this is a must play.

It's an AMAZING game if you can get passed the fact that the developers have taken a ton of money for minimum work and big promises. If they actually delivered, I bet this would be one of the best horror games out there.
Unfortunately, this game appears to be abandoned.
What a waste.

- Very much scare
- Very very much scare
- Good graphics
- Great atmosphere
- Very, very very much scare
- Second chapter even better than the first
Cons:
- Inventory system. But that made me scared as well.
- Unable to sleep afterwards
Would recommend for anyone who likes a proper psychological horror that makes you scared to turn the lights off in your own house.

So, a few things. I have a decent system where I can play most games on their ultra settings. I was surprised to get to the settings for Visage only to see everything set to the lowest possible settings they had. I have an ultrawide screen and Visage didn't even have my screen resolution available. I had to go to a .ini file and make the changes there to force my screen resolution. I don't normally have to do this with modern games on my rig.
I answered the phone at the beginning and as I turned to look around, the phone cut into the wall. So much for proper collision detection.
I just didn't find the game engaging at all. It looked bland. I didn't find any incentive to want to investigate anything. I ... was ... bored. Apparently this game is for some people (according to the review), but not for me. And it didn't look all that great, either. There were crushed cans floating a bit above the floor instead of laying on the floor and other minor things that should have been dealt with by the level designer before being released to the public. And this games been in development for how long now? Well, needless to say, despite getting it at discount, I've requested my refund.

Step 2 - Scream like a little girl.
Step 3 - Explain to your wife why you need to sleep with the lights on.
Step 4 - uninstall and never touch it again because your anxiety levels will never get back to normal.

Only negative is that things you have in your hands sometimes get stuck in the environment and the inventory could've been better.
Make sure that you fix the gamma correction before starting the game, it doesnt pop up the first time you start the game like in other horror games.

But in terms of horror, this game is in its own league. I've watched almost every horror movie out there and have played most of the really scary horror games (Outlast, Amnesia, RE7.) To date, almost nothing has ever even scared me. But this is on another level. I've never experienced anything nearly as scary as this.
And its not just jump scares. The atmosphere is excellent and the horror is very well thought out. Excellent work developers.

However, can still feel the early access throughout the game and especially during chapter 2, I'm really hopeful the developers will continue the work on the project, but as to right now, still many bugs (closed a door in Lucy's face once and she got stuck idling inside the room I was at, then another Lucy came in, which overall was pretty funny), some noticeable bad collisions in chapter 2, still a lot of UI work and tutorials needed mostly for inventory usage; except for that, game is perfect.
Awaiting for chapter 3 excitingly.
