Jump into the role of a star and experience a new type of social gameplay!

Velvet Sundown is a social multiplayer role-playing game, taking place on a luxury yacht cruising the waters of a fictitious Caribbean state of Balbonia. Embark on a journey full of conspiracies, trickery and secrets where you can never tell a friend from foe.

In the beginning of each game you are assigned one of the 11 readymade characters at random. Each character has their own unique agenda to pursue, as well as a randomized goal to strive for. Fulfilling your objectives might not be as easy as it seems though: as everyone else has their own secrets, some of the people aboard might not be as willing to co-operate as you would like. It is up to you to use your cunning, wits and social skills to get what you want and avoid spilling your own secrets.

The scenarios are always multiplayer and require a minimum of 4 players, which means that every character you see is played by a real person. This also means completing quests always requires freeform chatting and interaction with the other characters.

Velvet Sundown is based on the Dramagame engine developed by the Finnish game developer Tribe Studios Ltd.

A nice unique idea wich falls flat on the face. There is hardly one match which isn't ruined by trolls or immature people spamming obscenities and sex jokes or taser-spamming other people. It also heavily seems that the devs abandoned this game. While it looks decent and you may have a good time with decent people most of the time you have to deal with trolls, people who can't comprehend what this game wants them to do or people going afk.

Unless the devs are actually getting their **** together and try to save this game, I can't recommend it even when it is free. I also would advice against actually getting the premium-version. You will only waste money.

The game died when they removed TTS. also the only guy who paid for VIP in this game was the owner.

Text to speech was the entire reason to play this game for that authentic role-playing experience. Sadly it was removed ruining the experience entirely. Game was extremely fun while text to speech was around.

if any of the old devs for this game are still out there, you need to give it a Re-boot, i loved this game is was great and funny all at the same time. we need this type of game to be re-booted and given a second lese of live, or if we could host our own dedicated servers that would be awesome as well , please please re-boot this great old game .

This game was so fun couple years back when it used text to speech and then they removed it, basically fancy version of Among Us, I wish this got revived with text to speech it was so fun to play.

this was the quickest rise and fall. it was popular for LITERALLY a week after an already-forgotten youtuber played it back in 2014 and it fucking died instantly. good times. simpler times. shite whodunnit game lol.

While I haven't played this in some time. I do remember how this game was designed. Along with the sessions themselves.

The game works like this. Before you can do anything, or join any game. You need to make an account on their game's website. With a name and password. After this. You can join any server that has a game. The goal of the game depends on who your playing as. You could be the killer who did the murder, and the others have to figure out it was you. Or the other way around. You find them out, before time runs out.

The expected play style for best enjoyment of this game is for everyone to role play. To help with this, your given a backstory to what you were doing before and during the time of the murder.

I played about three or so sessions of this and it is... to be quite blunt about it. Boring.

The game is pretty much dead. I was the only one acting while everyone else was roaming or talking about whatever they were talking about. And it wasn't to do with anything with the game itself.

This game might of been more active some time ago. But this is a review that comes from someone who played after it was put out much after when it first came out. And I can't suggest anyone to play this game unless they really, really, wanted to try something. But even then. This an't worth your time nowadays.

Lemme tell yall this game was so fun I got lost in it... they need to bring more games like this. It had mystery, funny communication (R.I.P text to speech).and its own flair. You will not find a game like this one and if there is LET ME KNOW!!!

I only voted yes because i had a lot of fun playing this game but it is a dead game.... the devs from finland shut their company down completely and the game will not even start anymore.... steam should really take it down....

Velvet sundown should definitely be played with friends and only with friends. They make it a great experience, as you all laugh to yourselves because you are talking to one another in a typed computer chat. Though the function of the game is somewhat beta-ish it is still a game you can relax to and have a game with your buddies.

I like this game so far great roleplay aspects though however most of the time people fuck around rather than playing the game xD but that's to be expected the chat system is hallrious im sure this game could amuse you for an hour or so
