Just as I remember the Original Tourist Trophy on the Sony PS2. OMG; THANK YOU, devs, for bringing back this AMAZING game.
Excellent graphics even show well on a low end PC(think Athlon), and the little touches even drop jaws... Thinking sun flare here. It genuinely gets difficult to see thru the glare.
Okay. Now for the critique. The game has a really ODD and DIFFICULT learning curve. The sticks function as steering and throttle/brake. It takes quite a moment to adjust to, but once you DO?

This becomes the MOST addictive racing game of all time.

The A.I. is effing BRUTAL, so be prepared to curse a lot when they seem to cheat; because THEY DO.

But overall... This ROCKS!!

I do not like motorcycles. I've never riden on one in my life, and I never will. I'm a car guy through and through so this game should not be for me. However, since I do like racing games, sim or arcade, and I definitely like the concept of riding a machine at over 300 km/h in long stretches of road, this game intrigued me enough to buy it.

Since I'm not a bike guy, and I have no idea how they work, I cannot comment on the physics. But what I can comment on, and that's this game's strongest suit (as it should be given the license it has), is the sense of speed. It is amazing. The roads invite you to go faster than you should reasonably go, and you see the houses and trees flying by in instants. I especially recommend the first person view for a truly thrilling experience. It's a shame I don't own a VR device, because it would be amazing.

Game does have a few annoying bugs and general lack of polish. The most blatant one, is when I crash the bike, restart the race, and the engine sounds are all weird. Crashing again solves the problem, and that should never be a solution to anything.

For people like me who doesn't know anything about motorcycles, there are a few assists that make the game very controllable. I personally use anti wheelie and race line, as well as the simplified braking, at least until I feel comfortable and learn the tracks.

The career mode is ok.

TT Isle of Man Ride on the Edge is a motorcycle racing game, where you compete in this dangerous event from the title, to become the best in the world.

I got this game for free from my friend.

What the game does well, is the graphics. First of all, the sense of speed is really good, works pretty well in general. Shadow and lighting effects are also awesome, most of the enviroments where you racing are good looking. However, sometimes the game offers weird animations, lifeless looking places or plastic looking models. It's mostly positive still, but you should not forget about these aspects.

About the controls, as a player, who never played motorcycle racing games, it felt weird, but it's actually all right. It's not that easy for sure to get use to it, but turning most of the assist off, I got the hang of it.

Music and sound is a dark point of the game. Music is really nothing, the only time you hear something like that, is in the menu. Sound of motorbikes are okay and other enviromental sound effects all right, however listening to it more than 3 hours will make you bored I think.

The game has no story. You start your career as a nobody in the TT series and there you go. No characters, no dialouges, nothing. I mean, racing games sometimes don't even need this, but atleast it could have give me some kind of motivation.

About the gameplay, I think this is where TT Isle of Man Ride on the Edge miss a lot. The TT races are fine and racing in general is okay. You either do a TT race, which is completing a sector as fast as you can with the other racers, trying to stay alive, mass start events like real time racing with other opponents. You can get different bikes to go in different categories and different stats, you can choose your events to attended to, you need to collect money to afford for the events and for maintanance, you get an email menu too... and that's the career. My issue with the racing part, is that I don't get any information at all. Sector times? Nope. Lap times or fastest lap? No. Any feedback about am I doing a corner right? Not really. There are assists in the game, which are useful, also there is a racing line, which can tell you when you need to break, but that's also working weird, because when it show me to break, I can just lift away from the gas, but sometimes I need to break hard. About the career, it feels empty. And okay, I mentioned what you get into it, but I don't feel the progress in my career... buying new bikes not really give me anything for that sadly and because of this, it started to get boring for me after some time. What made me really annoyed, is my opponenets, who like to ram me non stop, meanwhile they are unrammable. That was the time when I noticed the hit boxes for the bikes are really weird in general. Multiplayer also dead, you barely able to find anyone playing this game.

TT Isle of Man Ride on the Edge feels like a demo, which got extended to a longer game. It's difficult and challanging, it has an interesting premise, but it just feel empty. It didn't caught my attention in the end, and I could say, try the game for an hour, but in general I wasn't really big fan of this game. For 40€, this is really expensive... maybe for 8, but it's just better to try out the game and see if you like it or not.

A high-difficulty and flawed arcade/light simulation hybrid that showcases some of the most gorgeous road courses in the United Kingdom at astounding speeds.

Positive:
- The tracks and environments look stunningly beautiful. Spanning across the United Kingdom, all aspects of the local geographical characteristics are showcased with much attention to detail. There are mountains and coasts, fields and castles, forests and towns, and it is all delightful to experience at tremendous speeds. Every single course delivers endless amounts of pure racing sensations.
- Racing at various times of the day feels unique due to the differences in lighting. Mornings, afternoons, and evenings all look pretty.
- Each motorbike resembles existing models from actual manufacturers. Their visual and audio design are outstanding. Even the riders are represented as human-like characters, and not like inanimate puppets attached to a machine.
- Optimization is mostly very good. The game rarely dips below 80 frames per second and usually stays at around 90 or 100 frames per second. Sometimes it even remains at a solid 144 frames per second. This is an especially impressive performance for older hardware. With that said, sudden and significant frame drops do happen.
- Driving is an absolute pleasure. There is always an awesome sense of velocity and going through the splendid surroundings of the tracks is simply amazing. The Snaefell Mountain Course is one of the most perfect racing experiences in the genre, providing the player with a constant flow of adrenaline and excitement through every curve and straightaway. An accelerated heart rate is evident during and after the most stimulating races.
- Sound design is astonishing. Each motorbike has their own distinct sounds, including motor popping and whirring. Going past trees and other roadside objects will generate rapid gusts and other ambient noises that manifest at exceedingly fast speeds.
- The career mode is relatively limited, mostly due to the repetition of races and events, but it remains interesting. Winning the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy main event in both categories is particularly rewarding and satisfying. The only other goal is to improve personal best times, and as a result, to climb the online leaderboards.
- Holding the controller while it vibrates feels like one is riding an actual motorbike. Even after concluding a racing session, the trembling of the motorbike in the player's hands and forearms can still be felt.

Neutral:
- Customization of the rider's gear can only be done at the start of the career mode. It would make sense to change color schemes as one progresses through their career, but for whatever reason, this is not an option. Customization of motorbike colors and decals is not available at all.
- All motorbikes have specific attributes; such as horsepower, acceleration, braking, handling, etc. Unfortunately, there is no garage or mechanical fine-tuning of any sort.
- Variability of weather is nearly nonexistent. It is usually sunny or mostly sunny. Precipitation never takes place. Maybe the events the game is based on also do not take place during inclement weather.
- Driving and handling physics seem to have been developed according to real-life equivalents. This means that motorbikes are very delicate machines and will cause their rider to lose operation of the vehicle with minimal interference. Turning too sharply, accelerating too quickly, or merely going too fast will definitely render the vehicle uncontrollable. The slightest error or the tiniest nudge will swiftly send the motorbike and player to the ground most times.
- Working toward and eventually earning the right to purchase some of the best motorbikes in the game is enormously challenging but gratifying.

Negative:
- Artificial intelligence opponents will often engage in illegal and unsportsmanlike behavior. Crashing into the player and creating accidents are extremely common occurrences. Mass start races, by far, have the most serious issues in terms of contrived and exaggerated abilities from the artificial intelligence drivers, since they will usually be much faster than the player even if driving inferior motorbikes. Because of these problems, most mass start events are annoying, unrealistic, and downright unplayable for fair success. The artificial intelligence is also extremely unnatural when it comes to Tourist Trophy events, since they will often have faster times than an experienced player riding a much better motorbike, even though they never advance past the player rider on the course. This is wholly illogical. The game's programming is developed to often decide that the player is too fast, and then to arbitrarily give artificial intelligence riders faster times in order to make the player lose. This is completely unreasonable and unacceptable.
- Mass start races are the absolute worst events in the game. In addition to the serious problem regarding the artificial intelligence of the other riders contributing to an excruciatingly annoying and abhorrent experience, it does not make any sense. One could win all races of the event by finishing races in first place, yet this does not make the rider the winner. The winner of a mass start race, for some senseless reason, is often the rider with the fastest laps, which awards them extra points in the standings. This is utterly ridiculous and only a best guess of what is actually taking place, as the game explains nothing to the player. Furthermore, the achingly high difficulty tied to the artificial intelligence makes this part of the game totally unfun. The mixture of the poor handling in conjunction with the terrible artificial intelligence of other drivers is a complete hindrance to entertainment.
- Handling is a major problem for most of the motorbikes. Consequently, finding a motorbike that suits one's driving style and mechanical preferences seems nearly impossible to accomplish. This makes most motorbikes feel like a combination of being inadequate and/or practically unmanageable. The issue is that the motorbikes just do not stay on the road due to really terrible handling. This is a major source of frustration, aggravation, and disappointment in the game.
- Many bugs and/or glitches will occur often. Sometimes, after a crash, the motorbike disappears and all there will be left are two black shadows of the tires. Sometimes the game will not have sound. Both of the aforementioned problems can be fixed by quitting and restarting. Sometimes the game starts with a black screen, but it will eventually take the player to the main menu by pressing buttons on the controller. Sometimes the game will simply crash and ask the player to submit a crash report to the developers.
- Quitting the game in the middle of a race and later rejoining that race by reloading the game will often place the player into undesirable course positions that result in the loss of control of the motorbike, which generates collisions. Quitting the game in the middle of a mass start race and later rejoining that race will often produce problems, such as the rider positions being completely incorrect upon returning to the game, as well as laps not progressing toward ending the race.
- Split times between the player and other riders seldom appear on screen. There is no reason for the display of split times to be so inexplicably inconsistent and infrequent. Split times are especially important during Tourist Trophy events, but they are shown to the player very rarely.

Overall rating: 4.0/5.0

I've been playing TT Isle of Man for awhile now, and I feel at this point I can give this game a honest review. One of my favourite parts of the experience is the feeling of speed and motion as you push the bike through the narrow roads of Snaefell and generally in any of the other stages, the physics of the bike while at time can be frustrating are realistic and still fun to use. Out of all of areas though the engine audio wins for me. Overall I'd give this game an 8 out of 10, it's worth playing.

Even Though This Game Looks Amazing and the Bikes Sound fantastic, It has It's problems, Firstly being the Bike Physics, there bad, I've seen better physics on MotoGP for the GameBoy. Then There is the AI, all I can say is that They Like Your Ass so much They even try too get on the back of Your Bike. Only get this for the Time trial on the Isle of Man Circuit, or I've heard I've heard the second game is better so get that.

I will start this review by saying that I've first played it for 3h and I did't enjoy it... left it for dead thinking it's sh*t. But recently I've reed a book called Road Racer, Michel Dunlop's biography. And just before his first ever Isle of Man race called Manx GP he said that What it was all about was You, Bike and the Road ahead... I don't know why but it inspired me to get back to this game, learn how to master controls, handling and learn the legendary Snaefell Mountain Course... it took 73h and hundreds of crashes. But I love it now!

Don't get me wrong I'm faaaar from 14 and 15 minutes club but recently Iv'e won Supersport TT (4 Laps) and Superbike TT (6 Laps) on medium difficulty with minimal assists (antiwheelie on Low, rest Off and all HUD elements Off) <-You, Bike, and the Road ahead... The sense of achievement and satisfaction I got was unreal for a video game.

So now few tips If you got that far:

1. Get a Controller (That is essential)
You can probably get away with keyboard playing Euro Truck Simulator but motorbike racing game about the Most Dangerous Road Circuit in the World... NO WAY! So you may ask which one? I personally prefer PS4 ( we are talking here about basic start not some super duper professional racing simulators of what'nots)

2. Get rid of all HUD elements.
It will distract You! You will learn right racing lane when You will understand the handling and that comes with practise.

3.No rush, You will do it!
Start from learning Short Courses first. This is how I did it so it may not suit everyone but my approach was to practise each track till I got a decent time with no crash then would change time of day and repeat this process Morning Noon Evening (believe you me that some times all the shadows and Sun changes you're reference massively)
When you will fell confident try racing AI but be warned that there are not at all considerate when it comes to passing you so it is frustrating at times but also gives you that edge when it comes to pushing yourself to the limit.

4. Handling
Many people complain about that in this game. I personally ride a motorbike, used to have GSXR 750 SRAD, but now I ride my all time favourite VFR 750 RC36. Never done any racing as probably most people plying this game so ist's hard to say how does a motocycle handles at this speeds but in the end of the day It Is A Video Game Not Reality! And as long as you will try to approach it as a Video Game you will be fine.
Of course start form using manual gearbox, learning micro turns, half throttle and throttle blipping when downshifting...

5. Control settings
You can change sensitivity throttle and steering I personally recommend to increase it by 10 to throttle and steering

6. TT course
Same as other tracks but section by section, different times of day and different bike classes, then link sections. So say You can do Section 1 no crash, same Section 2. Link them and go From 1 to 2. Then to S3 then S4. Then S3 to S4. Then S1 To S4 and so on till you know it all.
Put some effort and learn about the track, Corner names,as many things to associate with you're memory. On board videos on YT and in no time you will be where I am having a blast.

SOOO after all this bullsh*t I wrote YES I Recommend it ! xD

The game is really good, you work through progression on smaller tracks before working your way to the TT. however, the game constantly crashes all the time making it next to unplayable. the game stutters are awful. i have a high end rig and still get drops to single figures, if you were playing games like rocket league fine. but when your playing a racing game ave 100mph+ its out of order. if the game had only just been released, fair enough bugs happen but as the games a few years old this should have been fixed.

Before I bought this I had some hopes. Well it is clearly another bike sim by competent developers (I grew up with the classics I kinda wish were'nt). I don't hate this and It is a lovely example in 2018+ why you should still ride a real bike. Far from perfect but when shifting gears and weight while turning might feel natural on a bike the fact your using a keyboard (or controlller) with no inertial feedback makes this a fair sim racer on THE BEST TRACK IN THE WORLD.

Normally only play very casual racing games (NEEDforSPEED etc.) but this one got me hooked.
Important to know is this game can be played as Sim or as Arcade racer, according options can be found in the game.
I can even play with friends who play the game as simulation.

Graphics are nice but not super awesome but the feeling of driving fast is quite nice.

Overall I can recommend it for a price below 10 EUR if you are into racing, below 5 Eur if you want some casual fun.

I play with 3 monitors and a controller on the difficulty settings the game boots in, like a scrub. i do not ride a bike in real life but i play a lot of driving games and know of the Isle Of Man TT.

This game looks absolutely fantastic and the simplistic driving to me, feels amazingly natural but highly challenging. its a legit 20 minute course and if you haven't done a versatile, unique 60km beautifully crafted lap of one of the highest regarded tracks in the world, you owe it to yourself to buy it and try it.

its got other tracks too, like 8 in total but the game is worth price of admission for the main event alone.

It's better than TT Isle of man 2 in my opinion, less grind and more simulation.

The controls are absolutely horrific. To begin with, there is no native support for non-xbox controllers, and secondly there is no option for analogue throttle (wtf??). However if you decide to just go with keyboard controls, you CANNOT adjust the sensitivity of any inputs - the game simply won't let you highlight those options.
To make it worse, the rider motions just feel completely wrong and unnatural - and I say this as a motorcycle rider myself. The only useful aspect of this game is that you can struggle your way around real-life tracks that you want to learn. This game has potential and maybe the sequel is better, but this one is only frustrating

Disappointed with the controller options. Joystick kind of works but i couldn't remap the buttons. For a racing sim, this is essential. Surely the devs know this? So 'full controller support' is misleading. Ok for a giggle but don't pay full retail, it ain't worth it. GP500 was the best bike racing sim and that was in the nineties. The only thing that has improved since then is graphics. None of these modern bike racing sims are up to that standard, sadly.

Logitech Rumblepad 2 is not Supported. Picks up the Controller but unable to set right Joystick too Accelerate and Brake. Shows a Image of a Xbox 360 Controller. Wont allow me too change the Buttons, instead it says button already assigned. Tried SCPTools, E360 Emulater. Not working. Game is brilliant otherwise. Just the Controller Support of Rumblepad 2 is not there. Not buying a xbox360 controller.

It's a good game. However, you do need time to learn it. The rear end breaking out is indeed an issue as some have said, although after awhile you start to learn to counter it. The tracks are detailed and the visuals are good. It's cool to be able to race around a track virtually that is so famous.

I wouldn't pay 40, however on sale it is worth a pickup.

Also, best advice I can give if you do buy this game.... turn off the assists, it takes time to adjust however it makes the experience much better.

Looks like the perfect game but unfortunately plays horribly.

I got this a long time ago with high hopes and uninstalled it pretty quickly.
Reinstalled it recently missing the TT this year and hoping they've fixed things but no the game feels horribly unnatural.

The physics is off and seems in another dimension at times.
Often the front wheel feels like it's somehow anchored to the road when you lose traction causing the bike to pivot sideways at speed while still upright.
It's completely unnatural/unrealistic.

The way the bike handles simply doesn't reflect reality at all for a race sim.
Visuals are great but the gameplay is the opposite.

For the last few years the gold standard for motorbike games have been MotoGP.
I haven't played the latest one but traditionally It's slightly forgiving as you can't really turn off all the riding assistance but bike behaviour when you are in control and out of control mimics real life much better.

This is the base game, only that rear wheel slide is just not fun to deal with. TT2 fixes that, but it's really just a patched version of this with some extras. Money grab between the two games. Dirty trick they pulled. I'll up vote this, but I'll down vote the other. Make sense? Just trying to keep some of the greed in check.

I bought this after testing the second game at the free weekend. But they are totally different games.
The second is much better, and has improved everything (Graphics, physics, tracks, career) and everything else.

I will ask for refund so i can buy the TT 2.

Sheer speed and exhilaration, and put a tyre an inch out of place and it's all over! I've never driven a bike in real life so don't know how realistic the physics are, but it feels pretty much how I would imagine it to be. Just a shame about the pointless career mode, which is very bare-bones and allows you to unlock bikes which you already have access to in other modes! Very strange.

A beautiful looking game which runs fantastically well, giving an awesome sense of speed, completely ruined by random back end slides.
These slides are like Martini, they happen anyplace, anytime, anywhere.

The devs have done nothing to sort this out and have instead, released a second version, which has, apparently, improved the physics and random slides.

Why did the devs not patch the first game?
Simple, they couldn't charge £35 for a patch could they??

Sorry if this sounds cynical but this shower will not get another penny off me.

Absolutely disgraceful behaviour.

2/10

I really like this game. Its takes time to get used to the feel of the bikes, it was never meant to be easy. Speed feeling is great. Your going to crash alot at first but you get better in time. I had trouble with the brakes I increased the deadzone on the crontroller {xbox one} to about 35 on the Joey Dunlop bike and that made a big difference. what I do is slow down before the corner comes and slipstream into the corner. I may lose time going into the corner but I gain time by leaving it. I have played Isle of Man 2 on xbox one and like it to. I also will be picking that up later too. Overall a great game that need support so they can keep the Isle of Man games coming in!!! I call it Call Of Duty on cycles. Ohh what a RUSH!!! best tip Practice Practice Practice!!! not really a review just and overall personal feeling of the game!!! thanks

Possibly the worst racing game I have ever played. The game physics/controls are completely janky and have a mind of their own. The physics make it pretty much unplayable. Steer clear! Excuse the pun. The first couple of hours are spent thinking you just need to learn how to control the bike. The following hours are spent realising the game is broken. Its then too late to get a refund. Avoid at all costs!!!!!

Probably the best game of it's class but not without it's problems. The bike will leap out from underneath you at the strangest of places, the handling on the bikes esp the 1000's is totally unrealistic, the control system sensitivity is terrible at best, nobody plays MP and all the top times are hackers.
All this said - the carrot in front of the donkey is the Full TT, people who ride bikes should play this just for the fact that you get to ride the full TT track in very nice detail even though you will get chucked off the bike at points!!! I play it 1st person behind the screen and it has a good feeling of speed and the sound is pretty good too, the buffeting of wind and bikes all sound like they should.
So overall - If your a rider or a fan of the TT then buy this game because it's the best on offer in it's class really and you'll get to learn the TT track as a bonus. However, if your looking for arcade or a really accurate sim then keep looking my friend, this won't impress you.

Worsed bike physics of any game on market!!!!!

id let it slide if it was even aimed at more easy arcade market but its not even that. its like putting rwd car physics into a bike half assed and run with it, nothing makes sence in the bikes handling!

The track however is awesome , graffics are great its just the physics are so damn poor it was an after thought and an utter disgrace.

this game gives you the thrill, and fear of riding a motorbike at, frankly insane speeds. if you have even a casual interest in motorbikes or the Isle of Man TT race itself, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. no other racing game, 2 or 4 wheels comes close to giving you the sheer thrill of racing these things literally inches away from deadly kerbs, houses, or even other seemingly innocent things, that all want to destroy you. P.S. use helmet cam, it makes the whole game almost terrifyingly fast

Waited for this to be on offer before buying. Wow amazing Motorbike Isle Of Man TT sim. The sensation of speed on the straights is really incredible. Takes a while to learn the handling characteristics but once you master it, it is very satisfying sweeping round the bends and managing to stay on before pinning it again. If you do clip the side or bang your lid on a stone wall it makes you wince big time - with crash to match. Recommended!
