Was für Emotionen!

)

The graphics were high quality as always however the third dimension was a pain in the ass to navigate.
Fairly easy to get full achievement completion.
New and interesting gameplay mechanics for Zoya and Amadeus when compared to the last games.
Great soundtrack.
Cons:
Zoya's mechanics are super buggy sometimes and some objects in the game randomly decide to bug out in a way that its more difficult to complete a level.
Adjusting video settings requires you to restart the game.
Brigthness settings are only available in fullscreen mode.
While in co-op, we were randomly disconnected from the host. on multiple occasions.
Unlike the last two games, I will not be replaying this one.

First Impression? Oh wow! It's 3D, must be something!
What's My Thought About It? OMG 3D is just a nightmare, it makes jumping so much harder as compared to 2D. The graphics are pretty, art is well done like the previous Trine, but holy crap, it's so hard to gauge the distance between platforms/objects, it's either the game is poorly designed or I have very bad spatial perceptual skills. Story wise was quite a let-down, felt like half-done. In short - as much as I enjoyed the time with my co-op buddy, it's quite a pain to play
Special Note: If you are planning to play multiplayer with friends, make sure the host is the same person all the time if you wish to continue the story together/ get the achievements. So it's like you've gotta wait for each other to progress for achievements. If you can't consistently play with that person or if that person prefers to continue without you, you might want to consider doing a solo-run instead for the achievements. This way you can pick up the story anytime for your achievements.
Bugs: In multiplayer mode, the achievements recorded for you may be different from your friend(s)'. If so, you've gotta redo the chapter.
100% Achievement? Compared to Trine 2, this is a walk in the park. Guides are available.
Microtransaction? Nope!
Timer? None, at your own pace.
Children Friendly? Sure! Since it's multi-player, you can play with your children and progress together. No violence or obscene stuff.

This game is even more beautiful than the last. Each environment feels different. The book level is a standout. The combat is solid and fun and is one of the few things that benefits from the switch to 3D.
Even when looked at in isolation of the others this game does not do enough with the 3rd dimension to warrant switching things up. It just makes the game needlessly harder with poor perspective and depth perception. Feels gimmicky as opposed to a game mechanic during platforming sections.
Doesn't feel as well thought out as the others with little call for novel teamwork using different abilities. When you do discover and solve a puzzle which utilises this new plane, it is very satisfying in a way that the previous ones weren't. Some of the best levels were side missions where you are all the same hero. The last mission is great fun but not worth the few hours of mediocrity beforehand. It's still too short even with the filler levels.
It's not terrible. It's a competent game and it is short. Only worth it if you buy the bundle on sale. I give this game one Trine out of 4.

In this the game is short with only 8 levels and a few mini-levels.
PROS:
Beautiful sceneries
No need to level up characters like in T1 & T2.
CONS:
Three-dimensional navigation sucks and you die multiple times because you cannot figure out where on the screen you are jumping
The mandatory need to get trineangles to open a new level sucks. I had to replay 2-3 levels to open the last two levels.
Some mini-levels are incredibly hard. Like 'Whisper of Evil'
The Ending was a letdown.
Okay so only 2 Pros and 4 Cons. Maybe I shouldn't be recommending the game. Lolz.
Time to play Trine 4 and based on the reviews they seem to have fixed the problems of Trine3.

The story and voice acting is as good as the previous 2 games. The controls aren't bad, but again the camera and you being on a 3D plane really ruins the experience.
Another thing that people should know is that this game is incomplete. The developers released this game and planned on releasing levels slowly. But, this game got such negative reviews, that they didn't bother finishing the game. So, the last level in this game is technically not the final level. People wanting to play the Trine series, you can skip Trine 3.

Coop mode is where the Trine series excels and all games are recommended to buy on sale if you wish to play some coop with one or two buddies.
I would recommend both Trine 2 and Trine 4 above this particular version. Limited to side-scrolling 2D they excel in all areas, are intuitive to play, are very rewarding and don't have the struggles with 3D that Trine 3 suffers.

Trine 1 was an epic adventure. You could feel deeply invested ( thanks to great music, atmosphere, a variety of enemies and puzzles ) in a journey through the various stages of the story. It had 50% platforming puzzles and 50% dealing with enemies, and a meaningful story.
Trine 3 has 90% puzzles and 10% fighting against enemies, who now only occasionally spawn, including the bosses, but are now secondary. And the story is now: search for magic artifacts.
So, game-play and atmosphere has been dumbed down, Trine 3 is now kind of a good looking jewel that you buy only for shows.
And that is exactly the only advantage Trine 3 has over the first game: it's beautiful graphics. It's really top-notch, with very detailed environments, a vast amount of colors and shades, sunlight that reflects on the ground, realistic water flows, and interesting maps ( jungle, temple, mine, academy, a nordic town covered with snow..etc).
Also the switch between 2D to 3D isn't void of problems and accidents that frustrate you ( for example, some times you don't know exactly where you will land after a jump, now the wizard has to be more precise in putting the boxes in a 3D ground, the archer will often miss when attacking with the bow because you don't see exactly where the arrow will go...etc....).
BUT I will still recommend this game. Why? Because I had fun playing this game nontheless. After a while, dealing with those vast amount of puzzles gets boring, but the game is short, so it ends before you get annoyed. And also I greatly enjoyed the splendid environment.

I'm a big fan of the Trine series. It is by far one of my favorite game series, ever. Casual and enjoyable, amusing puzzles, action, beautiful graphics+scenery and good music... overall, the series keep high quality and content as such is still nice in this game.
Here in the third game, they try the 3d perspective which... isn't too bad. However, the quality work on camera flow and map limitations are poor. The idea to turn it more into a 3d game is not bad, but it is a bit too easy to jump out of the map simply by accident and get a bit confused where to go. The combat mechanics also feel a bit on the disappointing side where direction of attacks could feel a bit difficult to manage, especially in some of the later maps.
BIGGEST FLAW though, is that the story just... end before the end of it. There is no continuation to the story within the third game, it just kind of... leave it hanging? if they actually followed the story through, I would recommend it despite being a bit rough around the edges... but when you get 100% of the game completed and there is still plenty missing to the story? That is not ok... especially since it does not continue with the sequel. it's just... not there.
While it is a bit interesting to hear more around the characters and the story, the third game is not needed to play the rest of the Trine series.

I started playing this game 2 days ago. I finish some levels, kill a boss in 2 try and it was the end.
Really ?
The game is cool, beautiful but too much easy and a lot too short.
It's like a demo or a test to check if Trine will be appreciated in 3D.
Obviously 3D was a bad choice but the main problem is it's like 5-6 hours of play.
If you want to learn more about the story of Trine or just get achievements, play it it's very easy to have 100%.
But don't pay the full price for that, it's too much expansive.
If you don't played Trine 1 and 2, don't care and look at the 4.
Cheers

They completely overhauled the game mechanics and I love it the one thing I do miss is the wizard drawing the items he´s creating in the air the way the new version lets me catapult him on elevators using the new quick box deploy system. “top dollar action”
Of all the minor bugs I ran into only the rope+box+elevator combo could be game breaking.
At one point I had an elevator with a box attached via rope spinning so fast I was unable to get on it on several of my attempts It flung me off the map tho this in it self just brings a smile to any ones face.
Ofc its the same 3 characters from the 2 first games we play as and like the first trine is a good short story with a lot of good puzzles but the story don´t end this time so Im already downloading the Trine 4
All in all a great puzzle/platformer 8/10

All of your abilities are unlocked from the start, there's no skill tree.
Collectibles matter in this game as you need a certain amount of them to progress. Backtracking isn't a pain as you can select certain stages of the map, and you can see how many collectibles you are missing in each section.
The game is more 3D than 2D this time.
Personally I enjoy all those changes as it makes the game feel fresh.

Compared to other games in the series, Trine 3 introduced depth movement (3D) which can be confusing for some players but I didn't have any problem with it and it was used nicely to show some wonderful sceneries and to allow more dynamic battles. Even though I prefer sidescrolling movement, it wasn't an issue here.
There are some bugs which are not critical, dying & reviving is not an issue since you are not limited to spawn points so it was a pretty good experience!
I waited for a discount before getting this game because of many negative reviews and found out that those reviews doesn't do the game justice. Trine 3, although a bit different and shorter than the rest, it still captures the spirit of the series and features wonderful places, puzzles and a nice story!
You should totally get this one (maybe for a small discount) if you are fan of the series.
PLAYTIME: I've spent 6 hours for 100% achievements.

If i could give a neutral review, i would.
Trine 3 sadly does not have the same strength like the other two trine games.
World design and gameplay are on point. but how they changed the way you play...
Is a huge slap in the face for the other two games.
It does not get to that level. The total package for trine 3 is still a fun game.
just do not expect the same quality to the other trine games.

PROS

-Puzzle platformer
CONS

After Trine 1 and 2, indie developer Frozenbyte tried something new, moving their flagship 2D platformer series into the third dimension. They succeeded in making a great game, but this decision ultimately led to the game's failure. The move to 3D proved far more expensive than expected, and Trine 3 was released into early access in order to alleviate the costs of development. Despite this, the devs risked bankruptcy if they continued to work on the game, so they cut their losses and released the game unfinished. The final product ended up missing some features (eg. there's only one difficulty level) and only had about half of the content that was originally planned.
What happened during the game's development is really unfortunate, because underneath all of this the game's quality shines through. Trine 3 is gorgeous to look at, even by today's standards, and the music is just as great as the previous entries in the series. The characters and story are revamped, improving on the already decent plot of Trine 2 with better writing and voice acting. Levels are well designed, movement feels good, and physics puzzles are clever and have varied solutions.
The game really could have been great, even surpassing the excellent first two games in the series. But what we got is half of a game, which ends abruptly in a terribly unsatisfying ending. I would recommend this game, but what you are buying is half of the game it could have been. At 50% off then, this game is well worth the price.

After liking the previous titles enough and recommending them for being fun games, I went directly to Trine 3 as I had the trilogy sitting on my library for a while, with only 3 left I went in but with some skepticism as Ive heard some questionable things about it and its review score on the store page is a red flag and for most part the feedback is correct, Trine 3 tried to evolve the series and bring something new to the table, its set on a full 3D setting instead of being a sidescroller like the previous two, with the expansion of the movement and directions you could say they had limitless possibilities to where take the franchise next however after finishing the game and then trying to look for info about how this game turned out to be like this... unfinished, its been shown that the ambition of trying to evolve the game has impacted its development and made the game too expensive for frostbyte and thats a huge shame.
Trine 3 is a beautiful game just like the previous two, it looks stunning with a colorful arstyle, well-animated characters and cutscenes and a nice presentation, the thing is despite the shift from sidescrolling to full 3D, the game feels severely dumbed down, many of the interesting mechanics of the previous games such as upgrades, inventory or a XP system where you could have some progression is gone, all you do here is complete levels and collect trineangles to unlock the next level, theres no sense of progression, no new moves to unlock to your characters, the physics system and the puzzles here are still decent but the new platforming mechanics and movement feels kinda off, even the combat feels off, what feels even more OFF is how in your face the fact that this game isnt finished is once you see the ending, with only 8 main levels and being just 4 and half hours long, the game ends on a cliffhanger which the story didnt go anywhere, pretty much nothing happens as you advance through it story-wise and as an entry in the series this game was just a failed experiment that added nothing of signifance, it MAY BE fun, I had a moments that I was kinda enjoying it but I cant stand unfinished games and considering all the flaws I talked about above, the end result is still a failed game that is average at best and I cant recommend it because of that, Im not even sure If I would even play Trine 4 as I had enough of 1 and 2 which I enjoyed but still I had enough, 3 is a severely underwhelming game and since I cant speak for 4 as I didnt play it, Ill just say grab the first two games and skip this one because it kinda sucks.

Even though it is an astonishingly pretty game with amazing graphics and cute little details that make you realize how well thought through these maps are there are quite some cons that just made it impossible for me to truly enjoy this game.
The most obvious change is the 2D to 3D gameplay, which I personally think is an interesting approach but makes the game much harder to navigate.
Most levels feel very long. Compared to Trine 2, Tine 3 has fewer but much bigger levels which has you endure one setting for nearly a bit too long.
The RPG character doesn't exist anymore and Pontius lost his hammer, Zoya her fire and ice bolts, Amadeus his multiple and magnetic boxes.
I also feel like actual combat became rare in this game and you only encounter enemies a few times in a level. The reason I died the most was because of falling off platforms because the characters were very difficult to navigate in the 3D world.
In fight, Amadeus cannot lock up enemies anymore and that makes fight and especially the sidequests where he is the only playeable character, much harder. Pontius also became harder to play because jumping upwards was a pain since he always used his shield as a parachute. For Zoya.. Sometimes her rope skill works, sometimes it doesn't and aiming in a 3D world is not the easiest with her either, but we barely played her anyways.
The puzzles themselves weren't too difficult, though more or less always the same throughout the game.
A good point though is, that this game is very easy to do 100% because it shows you how many and in which part of which level you missed out some Trineangles. That gave me the courage to complete it 100% and go for all the acheivements.
Tine 3 is a game I'll quickly forget about. It was pretty, yes, but the difficulty did not came from puzzles or challenging enemies and fights but from controlling and using the character, which is a bad sign.
It defenitely won't make memories like Trine 2 where me and my friend tried to get acheivements like building towers on top of Pontiu's shield or surfing on Amadeus' planks while jumping on mushrooms...
This game just makes me feel frustrated and I would prefer challenging puzzles with bad graphics than an overly amazing looking game, that is totally unplayeable and causing me and my friend headaches.

To start, this game is just as beautiful as previous entries in the series. Except now instead of being a 2D side-scroller it's a 3D environment that still retains a 2D-like camera view, always attempting to keep the player more or less centered in the screen while giving you the freedom to move toward or away from the viewer while exploring and platforming.
It works, sort of. At times it felt like they were still sticking closely to the 2D formula and only cautiously using the 3D perspective. Rarely the 3D view would add a new and fun twist to navigating the puzzles involved solving a level. And sadly the 3D view on many occasions hampered depth perspective, making it hard to tell if the location or object you were trying to reach was closer to the screen or further away. This made Amadeus almost useless in combat trying to slam a box down on enemies from above.
In previous games when you earned levels you could spend points to acquire new abilities in each character's skill tree. That's gone. There is no leveling. You start and end with the same set of abilities. Pontius gets stomp, charge and his floating shield. Zoya gets her trick rope, but no elemental damage on arrows. Amadeus can levitate objects and summon a single medium-sized box, no platforms. That's it. And because Zoya's aiming is janked up by weird auto-aiming help and hard to manipulate controls, Pontius is hugely favored throughout the entire game unless a puzzle specifically calls for other abilities. Indeed most of the extra mini-levels that feature solo character play are focused on Pontius. Even then his combat moves requires nothing more than wild button-mashing in the vast majority of scenarios.
Another problem is that while the game starts out feeling really good, bugs begin to show up later. This often affects Amadeus's moving objects where they suddenly go zipping off screen instead of following your control. Objects that are needed to manipulate puzzles sometimes fall off an edge and then never regenerate, forcing you to restart from your last save point.
Finally there's the ending which has you fighting a boss plant monster (not the main villain) to recover one piece of an artifact you are tasked with re-assembling. The fight over, the heroes grab the piece and talk about the next one they need to get. Quick cut-scene of the major baddie getting ready for them. End of the game.
I wanted more and better.
Rating: 6/10
While not unplayable, it definitely captures the spirit of the first two games. But that's not enough to carry it. The story is a massive letdown not just because we don't get the whole thing, but that it was a better story -- at least given how much there is -- than Trine 2. A real shame and a lesson in creative ambition getting the thumbs up without the technical chops and budget needed for success.

The depth of the scenes is too much to over come in places, as in, it's nearly impossible to gage distances. My wife and I spent twenty minutes in one spot that was so tedious to correctly pick the right angle. She doesn't give up on games, but she did here.
The controls are bad too. After playing the first two games, I couldn't make myself remember all the button pushing that was required. Simple things like moving up and down on the rope were next to impossible to make it happen. There was also some magic sequence of buttons to allow you to put the rope on two things. We did it, but dam if I know how.
For a game that was newer than 1 and 2, the graphics looked more dated.
Hoping Trine 4 is more like the first two. Skip this one.

Stunning visuals, good story, a bit short, and great with co-op. No difficulty choices and stress-free compared to Trine 2. Only around 6 hours to 100% and took it slow finding all trineangles.

Graphic bugs and control issuses aside, Trine 3 is a decent game. It has some creative puzzles, pretty relaxing levels and a simple story. However, it does not deserve the Trine title. It doesn't feel, look or act like a Trine game. Seems like devs got tired of the old format and wanted to try something new on all aspects but, in my opinion, they fail miserably.
The controls are suddenly different and nothing feels intuitive anymore. Overall the characters feel very buggy and it can be frustrating at times. Simple commands, like getting over a little ledge, is suddenly a big task.
Don't play this game if you've just played one of the other Trine games, don't pay even close to full price and don't expect a polished game. This feels more like a bugged early release than anything else.
About 6 hours of 100% completion without any real challenge besides control isusses.

Most of the level design is still really great but the experience feels uneven and even rushed. This feeling of incoherency is especially noticeable because there are only about nine levels in total. There are shorter challenges (some are really short and easy, some are pretty challenging) and there are collectible triangles. In previous editions these could be spent on acquiring new and fun abilities, but in Trine 3 collecting them doesn't really do anything besides giving you a sense of satisfaction.
Overall, I still loved my time in Trine 3. Despite its flaws I can see what the developers were trying to do and I applaud them for trying to mix things up. I really think they had a bunch of great ideas but it feels like they had to scrap half of them because they ran out of time or money. If you love the series, like I do, it's still very much worthwhile to play through this one with a partner.

The Trine series has always been praised for its beautiful graphics, and the third installment proudly continues this tradition. For real, this game is lovely. The environments are beautifully rendered and ultra-detailed. The setting is your box standard fantasy world, but it's done so well that I honestly can't be bothered to complain about it. The colorful and fantastical graphics really enhance the tone of the game. When you first set foot in Trine 3, it really feels like you and your friends are about to embark on another grand and dangerous adventure. It's just a shame that this adventure is so damn short. I think that Trine 3 is the only game in my library that I've 100% completed, and it only took me and my friends about 5 hours to do so. The other two games are easily twice the length of this, which is just embarrassing. It feels like there's an entire second half of the game that just isn't here.
Fans of the first two Trine games will be happy to know that the physics-based puzzling and exploring is still here in full force. The core loop has remained unchanged. You and your compatriots play as three distinct heroes in a quest for the titular Trine. This game, arguably more than the previous two, strikes a good balance amongst the three playable characters. The wizard, knight, and thief all play off each other brilliantly and none of them outshine the others. Pontius is great at combat, Zoya is great at platforming, and Amadeus is great at trolling the other two. The physics puzzles, in particular, are really fun because there are often multiple solutions to each one. When everything works, it works really well. However, the shift from 2D to 3D introduced a lot of growing pains. The biggest and most obvious flaw is the camera. It moves on a linear track and stops at certain points to try and capture the entire breadth of the scene. This is good when you're trying to be cinematic, but overall, it hurts the gameplay. This is because it becomes impossible to gauge your character's depth. If you're making a jump, you better pray that you're on the right z-axis, otherwise you'll get to enjoy having a spike jammed up your ass for the umpteenth time. Instead of adding more complexity, the 3D environments just make everything inconsistent.
This game is also buggy as all hell, but honestly, this isn't new for Trine. In fact, some of the most fun I've had with Trine 3 was just messing around with the physics engine. I will never get tired of turning trap doors into mega-vibrating death cannons. However, there was also an abundance of bugs that weren't so funny. For every hilarious physics engine fuck up, there were about three other far more annoying problems to deal with. Our brief playthrough was plagued with desyncing issues, miscounted Trine-angles, and connection errors. Trine 3 is also missing a bunch of features from the first two games. What happened to the character upgrades? What happened to new game plus? What happened to all the extra achievements and collectibles and hard mode? Trine 3 feels like a proof of concept that never went anywhere. The music is here, the graphics are here, the charming characters are here, but everything else feels utterly lacking. Play this if you care about the story or really really like this series, otherwise just play the infinitely better Trine 2. I can only hope that the fourth installment turned out better than this.

Mixed reviews?
Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power is a continuation of the game about three heroes who fight against evil forces. The first thing that is noticeable is the change from platformer to 3D game. While at first it may seem like a step forward and the gameplay will be better, you can be very disappointed.
The first thing that is missing in this game is the lack of possibility of character development. The first two parts gave us the possibility of gradual character development, which encouraged us to continue playing. In this part it is not there and immediately the game becomes more boring.
Another thing is the character balance I complained about in the previous parts. There's something wrong with this game again, because while Pontius is a character that is useful during the game, this time Zoya's archer is rarely useful for solving puzzles.
Let's focus on the plot. As it is, Trine is unlikely to ever be famous for interesting storylines, but here it is tragic. The plot ends not even halfway through, but before that. You can see that the Frozenbyte studio ran out of money and did not manage to finish the game.
But let's get to the positives, because Trine 3 is not a game you can't play. It's worth to focus on the game, which is still pleasant, despite a few technical problems.
As in the previous parts, the graphics and sound are very good. They do not differ in level from the previous parts and still enjoy the sight.
The riddles in Trine 3 are interesting, often requiring a short moment of reflection. The cooperation mode is still as enjoyable as in the previous parts.
Summary
Trine 3 has mixed reviews and I'm not surprised. Trine's fans will give this game a chance and will rather give a positive rating, because this game is not bad, but it's certainly worse than the first and second part. But does Trine 3 deserve a negative rating? I think not. I've seen worse games than Trine 3 that were able to collect positive ratings. Despite the broken storyline or taking some elements away, you can still have fun with this game.

Came back to finish the game after a long break and remembered why I didn't finish it in the first place - had to check the key bindings twice just to figure out how the rope in this game works. And it is still clunky as hell.
It is a hit and miss game, much worse than the previous parts. Avoid unless you are patient and forgiving.
As of now, even in quarantine, life's too short to waste it on poorly designed games.

- the new puzzle mechantics are quite fun, i like that amadeus has more of a chance to defend himself and zoyas grapple has been changed for more utility.

The jump to 3D scenarios is a bit weird at first, but I enjoyed it.
The main con to the game is that it is awfully short. I finished the story in about 4 hours.
Also the levels and puzzles didn't grab my attention enough to try going back and go for the 100%.
