Was erlebe ich nun?

Sehr gut !

feels great and plays great.
BUT, sadly there is a but, marred with bugs and connectivity issues.
cant really properly play with friends. searching the web for solutions shows that there have been game breaking bugs that just never get patched.
so get it on a sale and play it alone, only then is it worth it.

BUT, once you get past that stuff (which you can't ever *really* get past; microtransactions line every menu screen), the core gameplay loop of Trials is phenomenal. Incredibly satisfying physics make even the skill floor satisfying and the skill ceiling as high as the stars.

- Single player gives a good amount of content from easy to extremely hard. Some annoying contracts that not everyone finds interesting, but depending on your skill level it could be required for you to complete some of them if you want the necessary XP to progress.
- Some DLCs are good while some are a regurgitation of the previous games. Have you played one or more of these games then I wouldn't recommend getting these specific DLCs.
- Track central is good, but tracks regularly are one level more difficult than stated.
- Multiplayer seems pretty much dead. Nothing seems to have been done to fix the issues with the way it's made and with few players participating it's difficult getting a match. Players also tend to quit if the game does not go their way, effectively ending the match. (This may not be an issue for console or other regions outside northern europe.)

I played both the PS4 and Xbox One versions of this game and they run better than the PC port. I know there's a good game underneath all the technical issues, but I can't recommend this to anyone. Don't buy this.
EDIT:
The game runs fine if you switch the refresh rate of your monitor to 60hz but anything outside of that refresh rate causes massive stutter and unplayable frame rates. I also can't play this reliably without running RTSS. It's horribly optimized and my review still stands, but if you're having issues, use 60hz.

Gameplay:
Fun. Great graphics & physics. Variety in bikes, riders & it's customisation. Has a freeform decal editor which is really bad. Huge variety of enjoyable maps. Deep mechanics, very hard to master but tutorials help a lot.
Objective:
Unclear, I had no idea what to do at the beginning & I still kinda don't. Just complete through floating challenges to earn some stars to be able to compete in stadiums & keep completing them to unlock more challenges but on next tier level of maps.
Multiplayer:
Not the best. It has a ranking system & the playerbase isn't fully dead.
Statement: Would recommend to buy on sale. I only bought the base game & not the gold edition because I saw reviews of people complaining about game not unlocking the stuff gold edition has.
I definitely see myself coming back to this for some sweat & grind in future.
Score - 60/100.

There is a type of challenge where you need to beat ghosts that are very slightly worse than your personal best in order to get a special loot box. You only have 3 faults or retries in total to beat a set of 3 ghosts. If you managed to get a personal best that's good you end up putting yourself at a disadvantage when this challenge comes up because you'll need to replicate that good time 3 times. On future runs I started to stop moving right at the finish line in order to keep my first personal best gold but nowhere near the time for platinum in case I would be challenged to that stage again for the loot box.
When I realized what I was doing the game felt a lot less fun knowing I could be potentially punished for trying to make my first run of a stage the best it could be.
On sale it feels alright buying the gold edition at $6 usd but I'd recommend buying Trials Evolution if you're looking for an good singleplayer experience. The online is dead in Evo so for custom maps unfortunately this is probably the best place to go.

As another reviewer stated it is filled with micro-transactions and is plagued by a complete trash track selection system. Although the selection system does have filters, you still have to scroll and remember where a track is on the map just to play it - which in itself is a waste of time. In older Trials games you were provided a list. Grinding for levels to unlock things isn't so bad as most people have complained because if you want to 0 fault any extreme tracks or play until you are actually decent, the you'll likely unlock everything in the game in due time anyway.
As for track central, although they have made SEVERAL improvements since release, it is still garbage. You can play a track, rate it, and then it disappears unless you go search for it. The track central system on Fusion and Evo both had issues at start but honestly I am bias to Evo as I enjoyed it the most. They tried to reinvent the wheel and made it a box.
TLDR; Micro-transactions & trash ubidevs who sold out for a small payout ruined trials. Evo>HD>fusion>>Rising

So here are the main cons with the game:
-Loot crates are in the game, but thankfully the loot crates are given after every level up and are purely cosmetic. Is a bit annoying though that 90% of the time your item is a sticker you will never use and additionally you can get dupe cosmetics.
-Premium currency is a thing which is needed to buy some cosmetics and more importantly some stage packs. Was bummed out that not all these level packs came with the gold edition since I assumed they would be part of it. I remember enjoying Trials Fusion, so was sad to see that I couldn't access the return to fusion level pack. I may have been able to get it for free as there are some ways to get the diamond acorn currency for free, but unsure how much there is and how hard it is to get it.
-Leveling system/grind is an issue, especially if you don't have the content from gold edition. Due to the progression system, you can't access new levels until finishing tournament things which are usually locked behind a certain level. Issue is that this leads to you having to replay levels to get XP from new contracts on old levels which can be appealing to some but annoying to others. I tried to avoid having to replay levels, and with the help of the 2 DLCs that come with the gold edition I was able to do so for the most part. The only time I had to actually replay levels was at the very end. My advice is doing the stadium red bull contracts as those are the easiest and give the most xp in my opinion.
-Ghosts can be annoying to some. Personally, I never felt they were an issue, but I understand why it could be to some. I thought you could turn off the ghosts, but I never tried as it never bothered me. I heard some people say that this increases the loading time, but I felt that the load times in this game were actually quite fast and smooth. I loved how the music carried over to the level select. Speaking of...
-UI is a bit annoying. Someone brought it up and I agree. It's cool at first since you can see where the levels are supposed to be taking place on Earth, but it does get annoying as more and more tracks appear. I wish they had a toggle to switch from world view to just level select.

Amazing maps and plenty of them, great gameplay, tight controls, cool soundtrack, clever map ideas, a lot of customization options, real money currency, lootboxes, season pass, uplay, extra tracks and extra bikes that arent part of the season pass and can't be accessed by playing the game.
Yeah the game is great, but there is also a great amount of monetization crammed into it. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it because of that, but I think that I will continue playing the game nevertheless. After all I really like trials, I just don't like what Ubisoft is currently doing with it.

But this game also has bikes you can only buy with real money and arent part of any dlcs.
Instead of like the older games where you unlocked new bikes and outfit pieces as you completed tracks. Now each time you level up you get a loot box which is the least exiting thing ever. The game also tries to artificially lengthen the game by making you to play the same tracks multiple times for some useless rewards like stickers or more XP.
The soundtrack in this game is like 15minutes long I would hear the same songs multiple times in the same 2 hour play session. Even though MOTÖRHEAD Victory or Die is pretty good song it gets old when you are listening it for the fourth time in an hour.

I love trials, I love this game when I'm actually riding. If I'm not actually on a track, I hate this game. The tracks are good, controls are good, Trials academy is a nice way to hone your skills.
But please, just give an option for a less messy interface, like the earlier Trials games had. Whilst I love trials, and I would recommend this game if you've completed all the previous ones, if you're new to the franchise, don't bother. You'll have much more fun with one of the older, cheaper, better versions.

i cant remember ever leaving a bad review before, this game brought it out of me. heres the best and worst from my experience as a loyal player since Trials 2
maps, graphics and rider customisation are great. everything else is like a convoluted mobile game with grind walls and paywall paths that sadly includes map packs.
bad UI design and map/leaderboard filtering in a game thats all about navigating maps and leaderboards.
forced uplay so you cant play with steam friends or see them on leaderboards unless you add them on uplay (dead). the multiplayer options are also worse than previous games...
The map design is always good but this game gets worse with every iteration since ubi bought redlynx, they hurt the game and the social aspect with greedy and poor design choices. could only recommend this on deep sale to hardcore trials fans who have the patience to navigate through the quagmire of ass that is Rising.

While the core gameplay still manages to be fun, this game is buggy and inconsistent. Let's put aside the greedy microtransactions and disappointing loot boxes for a moment to have a look at possible outcomes.
Perhaps, you'll boot the game and it will run flawlessly for a while. Perhaps, you'll boot the game and experience random stutters. Perhaps, you'll boot the game and come across excessive load times while the game tries to pull data from Ubi's servers. Or perhaps, the game won't boot at all.
It seems that after some time (even after having played without any hiccups), the game will just refuse to start. Having wasted precious time troubleshooting, and digging into the issue, it appears the game needs to establish a connection to its server at launch and may crash unexpectedly without reason. (Maybe DRM related?) Well at this point, you can start Uplay in offline mode in order for the game to load, however, if you re-enable its online components, the crash at startup will eventually return. Looking through the game's official forums, you can find postings on this very issue going back several months.
So good job Ubi and Redlynx. Thank you for safeguarding your precious loot boxes and MTX, while the stability of the game itself takes a backseat.

A significant amount of the content is locked away in DLC that is directly advertised to the player as they progress through the game. Your map view eventually pans out from a map of the United States to the whole world, and the regions will show playable locations, only to inform the player that they need to purchase a DLC to play those locations.
At full price, you are only purchasing a fraction of the total game. I'd only recommend purchasing this game under a deep discount.
The game also requires you to use the Uplay client and utilizes Denuvo, but both have proper notifications listed on the sales page.

Other crazy thing form me is that the progress in the game is so stupid and complicated. I JUST WANT TO RIDE my bike, I don't want to navigate to a complicated world map, without understading what can I ride, what I already done.... Unuseful complication, just give a list of tracks and a clear explanation on how to progress in the game.
