Ein wirklich gelungenes Remake, hatte weniger erwartet und wurde positiv überrascht. Es ist wie das Originalspiel, aber moderner. Aber sei gewarnt, meiner Meinung nach ist es nur ein Spiel für Fans!

This remake of Seiken Densetsu 3 is really splendid, beautiful characters and well done, detailed locations.
If you played the original and loved it, then you should try this 3D remake! You won't be disappointed.
Even if you're totally new to the Mana-Series but you like colorful fantasy worlds, action oriented realtime combat and of course JRPGs, then you'll love Trials of Mana.

No 5 million graphic settics and fine tuning to hit 60fps. No crashes, no glitches. Just start, play, have fun.
Replay value 10/10 because you can pick 1/6 starting points and 3 of 6 heroes and combine them how you like best and it will still feel good with any combination. 5 difficulty modes and new game+ with level reset option are + available.

Difficulty can swing wildly from: yawn this fight is so boring as you whittle away 1% of the boss health every 5 seconds to WTF is happening why did I just lose all my health.
Combat doesn't change throughout the entire game. Those first few fights you have will match how EVERY fight will go for the rest of the game with just more dodging. There's nothing interesting the the combat mechanics and the numbers are balanced so that no attack/defense upgrades change anything until you're at the end of the game where you can just start insta killing things.
AI is terrible with no real way to customize them other than a few very simple options with one making no sense how it works. The hardest difficulty makes the AI companions unable to die because of how bad it is.
I played the hardest difficulty from the beginning that was available to me. Going up in difficutly after that only makes fights more boring and tedius as one hit kills you and the dodging/attacking mechanics make it so you just need to wait things out and attack at the right time.

At its core, ToM is a very simple neatly wrapped Hack and Slash RPG with a nice UI to pull everything together. All six characters reprise their roles each with their own class evolution achieved through leveling and allocating stats. Being able to re-allocate stat points by visiting a certain town gives you a lot of ways to build and experiment with group composition. After a bit of a slow start, It's fun, it flows very well, and experimenting with chain abilities and class combos can be super rewarding. Some of them fall off hard, but it doesn't mean they aren't useful in other comps and that you can't have fun with them. Ideally, you're stuck with the three characters you chose following their specific storylines until the game is over. During the play-through, there are differences in interaction and story depending on who you have chosen as well as a few surprises here and there.
As someone who loves the grind, I found a lot of joy especially after completing the game. After playing on hard (I would say about 20 hours at most minus grinding, maybe?) and after finishing the side stuff, you can NG+ and pump up the difficulty. So not only do you have a new cast, but you keep all of your items and chain abilities while fighting harder mobs. Then, once you have done all six you can take on No Future mode and enhance them even further provided you enjoyed the gameplay. With beautiful design, awesome music, and a wealth of options you can truly dive into the world! ToM gives you plenty of reason to stay in the world and soak it in and for that, I love what they did with the remake and highly recommend it.
The Voice acting is kind of poor at least to me, but switching it to Japanese fixes the mood. It's not for everybody, but it definitely has all of the tools that it needs in order to be a complete gaming experience which is more than I can say for a lot of developers. The biggest downside is some might find it too simplistic, but there is definitely depth there if you're willing to give it a shot.
As someone who loved and adored Secret of Mana growing up, it's great to see its unseen sequel take the spotlight with such nice replay value.
Thank you for this game.

The right way! There are minor things I wish they hadn't changed from the original but I ain't complaining. It's a good game through and through.
IF I HAVE TO complain about anything, it's the multiplayer. I'd love to play this with my girlfriend on the same (or even separate) PC. For now we're stuck with the original and I don't think she'd like the graphics.

So why do I recommend the game? The class system is really fun to play around with, and finding combinations of classes that compliment each other is cathartic. Honestly spent over 200 hours between the original and the remake just playing around with class combos, and it was worth it. The music is fantastic as well, with several standout tracks.
A tepid recommendation. Try the demo

-Remade graphics in 3D.
-All classes and stats have depth in them, unlike the dated original.
-Secrets sprinkled in the game; even an unlockable 3rd class if u beat the game and fulfill certain late-game side quests.
-Soundtrack remade into awesomeness. Even the option to play the original soundtrack if u liked it instead (its still a banger to this day).
-Progression is much faster and the gameplay isn't a push-pull system between u and ur enemies when using skills.
Cons:
-Can't rename the main characters. That's how the original Secrets of Mana 3 was special; it made the characters ur building so special to you and you only.
-No two-player option. Wanted to see a way to incorporate a 2nd player or even a 3rd, just like the original did with co-op.
9/10. A close representation of what a Remake should do. Would have liked it if they had multiplayer or name customization.

Game is fun and a blast from the past if you ever emulated the OG Seiken Densetsu 3 on SNES but it very much feels like a budget title or something from a decade ago. Just so happened I needed a break from the endless supply of open world games and this 17 hour little JRPG was perfect for that.

Story
Most of the Mana games follow a theme and aren’t connected to each other (with the one game that does preceded this not released on steam) so you aren’t punished for not having played other entries. The story unfolds slightly differently in Trails of Mana – you pick a “main” protagonist from 6, and then pick 2 companions to join the party (each with their own prologue on how they were forced into this quest). This setup allows for fairly unique party setups, and changes the dialogue between characters in each play through depending on who is in the party. The party is hindered by 3 separate groups of antagonists, each which pairs to 2 of the characters and are seeking the mana sword for their own nefarious reasons. This leads to a fairly large amount of unique dialogue between the matched pairs, and 3 separate end areas and end bosses you can end up fighting. As a bonus a new area and additional story line has also been added post game which loosely ties the end boss from a different game in the series, as well as making a previously hidden boss available to all characters to now face off against.
Gameplay
Gameplay and combat has been significantly altered with minor quality of life improvements. I feel it makes the game a fair bit easier to play and really reduces the difficulty in some fights, though the difficulty settings can be changed at any time. The characters can now dodge, and need to jump to attack flying enemies. Each character now has multiple light and dark paths they can change to, each which affects their stat growth, spells and combat rolls. While they do have set roles (pure DPS, tanker, support ect) you can vastly change how each character plays depending on which path they take. The game has added a 4th class tier, which lets you do some stupidly high damaged attacks. Objectives are displayed on screen by default, which has the feelings of leaving the game feeling fairly linear (no more unneeded exploration), though you do still have the ability of tackling bosses in any order once you get to chapter 6. Abilities are a new addition which give minor boosts to stats or attacks, some of which can be shared across players or games, which can result in really OP combinations (some of the end game ones are OP by themselves).
Combat is a mixture of performing light and heavy attacks, with a chargeable heavy attack being used to break shields and different combos that increase as you change classes (instead of holding the attack button to charge the top tier move). I thought this over simplified the combat from Secret of Mana, where you were punished for button mashing. All the enemy attacks now are easily telegraphed and show the attack path for you to evade, though the computer AI isn’t particularly smart and seems to run headlong into them (even if you set them to play defensively). The CS gauge which allows you to perform class specific super attacks now let’s you select from all the attacks you know rather than the last one, and enemies no longer counter. These moves are fairly spectacular and are great for clearing out mobs and taking large chunks of life from bosses. The spells cast quickly and look good (you no longer have to constantly use them to upgrade their levels), and are now affected by the day and week cycle (so fire magic is stronger on the fire day), and dark magic is stronger at night ect. Many of the previous games instant death attacks have been removed as well. I found the changes to boss fights where super attacks have a slow charging period that let you interrupt make the fights a lot easier and take a lot of the challenge away. On normal the game isn’t difficult, with deaths more being a bad luck (like having the whole party petrified in rapid secession), and new game+ modes can either make the game stupidly difficult or total pushover depending on how you want to play. You now have the option to reset levels back to one for a challenge, as well as a one life mode if you’re seeking a challenge.
Graphics
Graphically everything has changed. The character models, enemies and environment are now all 3D (same as Secret of Mana), though lots of the special character animations now seem to have been replaced. New weapons are visible on each of the characters, and you have the options of changing the visual clothes the characters are wearing once you class up. Each of the environments looks great and are quite varied and detailed, and have been rebuilt for the jumping mechanic. While the environments look great, lots of the lesser character assets are reused, with beastmen townsfolk being the best example and looking silly when there are more of 2 of them together. Every old person in the game has eyebrows that cover a large portion of their faces. Most enemies are re-used with different skins (they do have different attack patterns), as are some bosses which was fine in 95 but looks lazy now.
Music
Like its predecessor, Seiken Densetsu 3 had an amazing soundtrack for what the SNES could put out. While I enjoyed the remastered soundtrack from Secret of Mana, I think it butchered my favourite song for listening to out of game. I was worried that it would happen this time around for Trials, but the remastered tracks seem to have played it safe and all are quite well done and very close to the originals. As before you have the option to either play the original or the remastered tracks. The voice work of the characters was well done (and I had concerns for Charlottes considering she rhotacizes the R as W’s). Kevin’s speech pauses (as if unsure), which was a good take rather than just portray him as always using simple speech. The shopkeeper was the only NPC I had an issue with, and its only because its reused in every city. The spirits now have throwaway personalities and lines, after hearing them once there aren’t really heard from again.
DLC
It’s a crime that Square-Enix don’t have soundtrack available as DLC.
Achievements
If you are chasing 100% achievements then it’s easy to do though it requires at least 3 playthroughs and has a few items that need collecting along the way.

Want a 3D RPG reminiscent of oldschool JRPG? Play.
Want a full open world game like Skyrim? Wrong game for you.
This is so faithful to the original even the f***ing music has me nostalgic I loved every minute of it.

Story is basic, which is good for my chill brain.
Combat is relaxing at normal difficulty, I did not try the other difficulties. Bosses at this difficulty are easy, you can tell the patterns easily and mess up once or twice without dying.
The BGM is pleasant.

But this game is still IMO worth playing. It still has a ton of the same charm as the old game, has the same replayability with the mixed party (seriously need some more RPGs doing this) and the combat is honestly a bit smoother then the old game since the AI and selecting spell/items is much smoother.

Trials of Mana is the 3D remake of the hit classic RPG released in 1995 as Seiken Densetsu 3.
For me it is the first game in the Mana series that I play and I really like it soon after I finish this game I will start with(I have to buy the other 2 games as well) Secret of Mana and Legend of Mana.
10/10 Must Play! A wonderful game from a wonderful series.

+ Different goal for each character
+ Choose your party from start
+ Satisfying combos
+ Music
- A.I will often be a bit stupid and slow attacking in some battles
I never played the original but liked the style of the remake and tend to like games such as this with RPG elements and different party members.
I loved the enemy designs and didn't get bored of battles even when having to re-run an area or two for missing collectables.
Being able to switch to your other two party members even if not the main character chosen is nice to mix it up if you are bored of said-characters play-style and want to play as something else from your party.
They dodge well and attack/heal often depending how you set them up in the menu (which you can switch anytime outside battle) though late-game I noticed a party member using a powerful MP move when no enemies were clearly never near her, wasting the move which was a bit frustrating.
The remake music I did enjoy but you can choose the original which I stuck with around half way through as it just seems to fit better but nice they gave us the choice.
You get a nice amount of play-time for your money even if you are not after all achievements.
So far I find this the most fun and best looking out of the Mana remake series.
My only nitpick is the hardest difficulty you can choose at the start is a total joke, only boss I had an issue with was a flying one due to the hitbox.
You can get two harder difficulties on NG+ but that is a good 15-20 hours in and for those wanting a challenge from the very start it is abit of a let down for the starting hardest difficulty to seem more like normal difficulty.
Overall, get the game if you are an RPG fan even if you never played the originals, the mana series never seems to disappoint on game-play and look forward to other games they will hopefully be remaking (please give us Children of Mana I want my frail-main back)

Motion sickness warning
Severity 8/10
With only 30 minutes playtime I had to lie down 2 hours due to motion sickness. Can't really say much about the actual game because I cannot continue playing. I cannot recommend this game to anyone who is prone to motion sickness.
I've always had issues with motion sickness in games so I wanted to start leaving reviews warning people to save them from experiencing it themselves and bring awareness to developers.

Do you want that old school experience where you need to grind, choose skill points correctly and attack/dodge with general strategy?
I have found on Vortex Mods a couple of things to fix this game:
Rebalance mod: makes the game actually challenging and fixes exp
No attack indicators: Want to actually use your brain? Use this mod
No Blue Crystal Sound: This turns off that awful spam sound for combo gauge crystals
With these mods, the game is actually phenomenal. You need to think and apply actual strategy in how you approach levelling and classes as well as skills.

them, adding to the three different endings available. I am sure I will replay this game more times in the future, and I wish that Square Enix will keep bringing us games like this.
Also! If you search to play with a bit of a challenge, I would recommend everyone to play with Difficult settings from the first playthrough, because “Normal” did seem to be quite easy in my opinion, to have a better game experience i had to change it to the maximum difficulty available before unlocking New Game+.

How to Remaster a Game 101.
Basically turns the original 2D sprite world to a fully 3D realized one. No cut corners or newly added gimmicks (at least nothing gameplay-breaking), just a simple 1:1 translation. Gameplay is exactly as you'd expect, only in 3D form. Even the text is completely the same, although with the added voice acting it does make the dated dialogue feel awkward at times. The game runs perfect too. I never ran into any bugs.
My only gripe is the gameplay mechanics are just so akin to the original (because they stayed so true to it), it comes off way too simplistic and basic by 2020 standards. Physical attackers will just spam the attack button with occasional specials thrown in and casters will spam spells (which are basically like ranged attacks), rinse, repeat. The game could have benefited from a tune up to enhance the skill cap from the original at least a tiny bit. There's really no strategy to it, nor real deviating from builds. You can, sure, but it ain't deep. Everything is pretty cookie-cutter, but you got to give the developers credit for sticking it through and keeping the game as close to the original as possible.
Also co-op should have been a thing.
Experimenting with the character classes and team combinations are what makes this game shine. Those choices actually have a huge impact on the story, for once. As far as remasters go, this is how you do it. You don't need to tinker with the gameplay elements or story, just literally enhance the graphics and touch up/polish annoyances from fan feedback.
All in all, if you're looking to scratch that old school JRPG itch, this'll do it.

First let's get to the downsides of what I've experienced thus far:
- Voice acting/ direction is horrendous 90% of the time. Only a couple of voices are ok, such ads Hawkeye and King Richard. Rest of the time you better not mind terrible line reading and weird voice choices, especially for Charlotte (by god good luck dealing with her)
- The fact that there's no multiplayer is kind of disappointing but not surprising, I couldn't really see online functions working to well. Still a local multiplayer option would've been great, especially since the original on the Super Famicom this remake is based on had this feature.
- mini bosses aren't the greatest, at least in my playthrough I've gotten 2 mini bosses and both have already shown twice with barely anything changed about it.
- Frick wall boss.
Now for everything I love about this game
- Gameplay is so fun and addicting, you'd think the repetitive nature would get old but nope. This has been the only rpg where I want to defeat every enemy in the area I'm in.
- Customization is also great, with skill points to put in each character that unlocks traits that alter things in battle, many different classes and way more beyond that.
- Speaking of customization there are 6 playable characters, and not only that but each character has their own story that intertwines and effects where you start and where you end up. The replay ability is almost endless
- These are some of my favorite songs in any rpg now, they fit the mood of every situation and I never get tired of any of them.
- Unlike the mini bosses, the real bosses steal the show in terms of how fun the battles can be. Frick wall boss still.
So yeah, this game is great, even with the flaws I mentioned earlier. I hope when I update my review once I've beaten this game, I can recommend it even more.

Buy it on a sale, kind of a dull monster pit lazy dungeon kinda JRPG. Very basic.
Lots of nostalgia for someone who played the original but a newbie may come into this and say it'd been better off as a mobile game or something.

The problem is balancing: Even on Hard the game is so p*ss easy that I phase-skipped the final boss without intending to, without any grinding done in game.
On Expert, all the bosses suddenly are damage sponges, and many of them have insta-wipe attacks that you need gamey tricks like abusing i-frames to survive because your party, regardless of settings, are too dumb to do their jobs and help you destroy the glowing orbs of doom the bosses uses to charge their ultimate attacks.
This is such a pity because the game nails sound, visuals and atmosphere, but is ultimatlely disappointing due to schizophrenic difficulty settings.

The game is a 10 - 15 hour game mostly depending on whether you look for items & achievements or not. There is also a new game plus with it's 300% exp boost which will shorten the game to a quick 5 hours.
Graphics is smooth and is not gpu heavy so your computer will not be running out of air like when it is running on COD: warzone.
If you have time and want a quick breath from all the other games, I would recommend this one. Once you are completed with it, your desire to play it more than twice is extremely low.

For those experiencing this for the first time, expect a fairly generic SNES era JRPG with action combat. Veterans will notice the addition of faster 3D movement, jumping, and rolling. The new mobility options make dodging attacks a real possibility, so combat is actually much easier and faster paced than the original. I recommend playing on Hard difficulty, which I did and almost never lost a battle. By comparison, I found the SNES original pretty difficult at certain parts.
There's some decent replay value in using the different party members, but large chunks of the story are mostly unchanged so don't expect anything too radical on choosing different characters for your party. That said, the variety adds something unique to this game worth experiencing.

One thing you will want to do first is change the voices to either OFF or Japanese. The English ones sound annoying but the Japanese ones sound okay because you don't really know what they're saying. That's really the only thing you need to do. The game itself is fun and easy to get the hang of as far as controls and getting around.
They recently added some new difficulty levels, which is good for replay value and some added challenge since the normal and hard difficulties aren't really too hard (I think there is also an Easy mode too just so Kotaku was able to review the game). You'll also want to play around with different character combinations and classes as you play through again (If you're trying to unlock all the achievements, it's at least 3 playthroughs).

In the negatives column, the difficulty of the game is almost entirely owed by AI party members being too dumb to avoid attacks, which isn't at all enjoyable. I killed more than one boss with only one character alive just to save healing resources. Also, the story doesn't hold up to modern standards at all, and yet still receives a lot of screen time compared to other story-light ARPGs of the current era. This issue is exacerbated by VA that is often spoken very slowly for reasons I can't understand.
In summary, a fun, light game that does a good job of finally bringing a SNES classic to the English language, but it's hardly best in class for its genre. Buy it on sale if you want some 90s JRPG nostalgia.

Trials of Mana is an action RPG where you create a custom party of 3 characters (out of 6 given). The game uses a third person camera, there's an (optional) target lock, you string combos using light and heavy attacks, there's a dodge roll and clear AoE markers for enemy attacks. You can switch between the characters at any time or use the pause menu to command them to use abilities and items. Casters get an impressive selection of spells while other characters receive access to various support abilities such as buffs/debuffs.
The story follows a classic fairytale formula, you travel the world to collect 8 elemental spirits and harness their powers, e.g. the fire elemental unlocks fire spells and buffs. Then you fight 8 big elemental monsters before going into the end game and eventually post-game. A cool gimmick about this game is the class system, each of the 6 characters has 9 possible classes divided into 4 tiers and you can use 4 classes in one playthrough. Also, each character can be chosen as the protagonist and this affects all story scenes, and there are also 3 possible main storylines each with their own final dungeons and bosses depending on your party combination. All these things make the game very replayable despite the short length of a single playthrough (20-30 hours depending on the difficulty and how thorough you are).
Speaking of the difficulty, the game is a bit on the easier side, I suggest playing it on hard, I find this particular mode a good sweet spot where it doesn't result in frequent party wipes but it's challenging enough to be engaging. The latest update also adds a few more extra difficult modes if you're really into optimizing your party. There's a New Game Plus mode, so you can keep your abilities and items even if playing as a completely different party.
The only major gripe is the lack of local co-op (like in the original) which is a shame because the party member AI is poor, they tend to tank hits and get knocked out during boss fights. I also wish they added more party banter scenes like in the Secret of Mana remake because the party interactions are otherwise minimal.
If still in doubt, check out the free demo, its saves are compatible with the full game.

Positives:
+ The game looks amazing and has a lot of divers setting that will keep you visually engaged.
+ It is well optimised. During my play-through I had no frame drops or any issues with my frame rate.
+ Great soundtrack
+ Fun game-play. The combat system isn't very deep but it is fun to use and as a result works very well.
+ Customisation. There is a fair amount to personalise for you team, from basic equipment to character abilities that give passive effects to either each character or the party to suit your play-style. Each character has class progresion that you can select to suit you.
+ Good story that will keep you engaued. The story will play out slightly differently depending on who you select as your MC. It isn't the best story out there but it will defineitely get you from point A-B in a compelling way
+ Each character feels unique.
+ Lots of Boss fights with each one feeling different
Negatives:
- The voice acting isn't the best (I played with the dubs on and didn't mind it but it can get annoying for some)
- The Bosses can be quite easy at times
- Overall the game is not that difficult, I played on hard mode and was rarely struggled, so if you want a challenge I would up the difficulty.
- The team controlled AI is not good, as it will often make silly decisions which will ten deplete your consumables. Additionally their combative use varies heavily even on all out attack

The remake is very faithful to the original, and retains the charm and atmosphere, while improving on sound and graphics. It also has extra content after beating the original end boss, which gives it great replayability.

Main game is a walk in the park even on Hard mode, the difficulty peaks fairly early and then the rest of the game is mostly trivial with maybe 1 or 2 tricky bosses. It is much, much easier than the original SD3. Postgame is not really much harder. There is a superboss for those who want a steeper challenge.
Despite the difficulty, building up your party and customizing their skills is still pretty fun, although the customization starts to feel a little lacking in meaning in the late game when you can kill pretty much everything with ease. Strongly recommend playing Kevin just because playing as a werewolf is great and all of his skills are really strong + look cool. (his postgame bonus fight is also one of the coolest)
English VA is pretty subpar, the Japanese VA is quite a bit better, so the JP voices are definitely recommended if you can deal with subtitles.
The game looks nice overall but there are a few angles in cutscenes and some boss arenas that look fairly flat and uninteresting. Nothing immersion-breaking though. The characters and environments all look great and are very faithful to the original game overall. The option to play with Kikuta's original SD3 soundtrack is also wonderful and I strongly recommend giving it a try.
Got it on sale for around $15 and I would recommend waiting for a similar price, I got about ~17 hours of a single playthrough and I was playing pretty quickly and did not finish every single thing in the game.

It's that simple. The combat is fun. The levels are just long enough to be fun. The combat stats system is fun. The classes are fun. The combinations are fun. The story is fun. The variety is fun. The characters are fun. The art is fun. The music is fun. The replayability is fun.
This is gaming fun distilled. Without bs political narratives, without git gud adrenaline shocks for gamers with ennui, without artsy fartsy pretentious auteur nonsense. This game is JUST FUN and it keeps giving back for every minute you spend with it! I'm so glad it's not a botched remake!
Modern gaming companies, take note! You don't have to do bs to make a very, very, very fun game!

Pros:
- fun battle system (to the point I've never ran once from a battle -- but it was also that easy)
- lots of abilities, skills, and items
- overall plot is nice
- love the music
- variety of characters with a background story to choose from
*update forgot to add one more pro, while the armour and accessories aren't visible your weapons skin does change which is nice and not as common a thing as ppl might think*
Cons (so many):
- ATROCIOUS voice acting, by far the most annoying thing in the game. 99% of the voice actors are terrible (English)
- Really really BAD dialogue, combine that with the bad voice acting and it's so painful (English)
- Character animations during cut scenes are reminiscent of PS2 era with all the bad transitions and ill-paced dialogue
- Cannot advance dialogue during cut scenes because if you do it'll literally SKIP the scene. The actors speak so slow, and take unnecessarily long pauses its so frustrating.
- Incredibly EASY game
- Literally everything is laid out for you to do, there's no need to find your way just follow the map lol
- Visuals were okay for a remake
***LIGHT SPOILER***
CONS continued:
- 3rd tier upgrade is so stupid when you need to get the class item in order to upgrade you have to acquire these specific objects. Unless you look it up you would never know that you need to collect SIX of these objects BEFORE using them otherwise you risk not getting the class item and you waste the object and have to grind to find it again. It's so absurd.
- there is ONE character who talks like shes freaking 3 years old or something throughout the whole damn game but apparently she's like 15? In any case, AVOID this character shes got that wubwub style speech and it was enough for me to restart the game with different characters lol.
I could keep going but its 2:30am and I think you get the point.

Now I'll elaborate.
Trials of Mana is a great 90's style Saturday morning RPG.
While it doesn't have the same depth or storytelling as a Dragon Quest, Ys, or Tales game; it does have a lot of charm and appeal.
I 100% this game and that's something I seldom do. I kept coming back for more even after my second playthrough.
The art direction in this game is beautiful. The animations, fluid combat, and beautiful soundtrack combine for a very satisfying and addicting combat loop of exploration, combat, leveling up, and character growth.
The replay value is great because not only are the stories different with each character; but you carry over levels and abilities (such as 300% xp) to assist you on your next playthrough. This makes the game even funner with each run. It's also really fun to experiment with the class system and party combinations. (however the three members you pick at the start of the game will be the only three you can play as for each playthrough)
Sadly, the story is still just as uninteresting regardless of which character you pick. In addition to that; the English VO is atrocious. Some of the characters are downright obnoxious and offensive in the delivery of their lines. Fortunately, the game gives you the option to set the language to Japanese with English subtitles. (highly recommend it)
Overall I loved this game and I would recommend it to any fan of action RPGs.

All the original dialogue is there, the original characters, and the original story.
The character models feel like they are just 3D models of the 2D sprites.
I received this as a birthday present and couldn't be happier!

But I would highly recommend this one this is the first JRPG I actually finished since maybe FInal Fantasy 15 on PS4 back in 2016.
Also the first game I loved so much to actively get all the the achievements, I also got the my card badge thing fully tiered.
I have never played the original so I have nothing to compare this to but I had an amazing time.
I found Crimson Wizard pretty dope.

Combat is repetitive and there's a lot of it. It does get better later with more combos and abilities, but even hard difficulty feels way too easy. There are some MMO inspired bosses though, but most mechanics in those are fairly simple. Story is also extremely straightforward and naive. And while everything is voice acted, some of it is plain awful. But you can change that to Japanese VO and pretend it's better since you don't understand a word.
Overall I had great fun, but can only truly recommend the game to those that might look it through nostalgic glasses, since it does amazing job translating 16-bit era into a new age.

-Better AI (companions & enemies) could have been nice
-This game had potential for more bonus content but it will not come
-Maybe modders have better ideas than naked sexy character dressings
-You will enjoy it if you ever wanted to play and finish the old Seiken Densetsu 3
-A bit too overpriced. It's not a AAA game but on the other hand, it's niche
-If you want Square to focus on such work, you have to pay
-Charlotte's voice is just annoying but her AI is much better than most of them
-A nice Bandai-Namco-like combat gameplay but unfortunately inferior
-Finally after 25 Years not only for the Japanese market
Overall 6/10

Is it a better Remake than Secret of Mana? Hell yes.
Don't get me wrong. I like the Game, but I don't like it as much as Secret of Mana.
The Graphics is cute, the Difficulty is... Well, bad. It's easy. Very.
I ran the whole game on highest Difficulty and I had slight problems - once.
The Game runs well, it has a good replayability and the story is alright, the dub is bad.
Would i recommend it? Not for 50$|€, no.
Get it when it's on sale and you'll have a good amount of fun with it, I'm sure.
