Dich der DLC Call of the Beastmen kostet mich 18,99€.

Bin rundum zufrieden.

The Beastmen rework where you smash everything and the Lizardmen vision quest teleport 'round the world system are for my money much more fun to play than the other farty stuffy DLCs with positive ratings.

What the two in this one have in common with the only other good one (Vampire Coast) is they encourage you to use the huge mortal empires map and rampage around against all the different armies there are, and play the different factions off against each other. I've only just gotten to the Oxyotl campaign of this DLCS now after reading some indifferent reviews, and it's probably the single best one I've played in the game in all the years I've been playing. Lesson learned, don't listen to damn warhammer nerds about what's good.

The Taurox campaign is easily the most OP and easiest victory in the entire series. Even on max difficulty on both campaign and battle, it's really easy to streamroll everything without even trying. At least with Ikit it kind of makes sense because you're essentially using fucking nukes. But the Beastmen faction with this DLC feels too easy in an unsatisfying way.

Can't speak much for the skink campaign, but it seems like his unique faction mechanic isn't fleshed out enough in an interesting way. Feels too surface level and a missed opportunity.

The new units all look really good and high quality. The Jabberslythe has excellent animation and model. The new heroes for both beastmen and lizards add needed variety and are super useful. I still recommend the DLC for those if you already really like the base game and you plan on playing them in the third installment of the series (all DLCs will carry over to the 3rd game).

If you're a big fan of the Total War: WARHAMMER series and you're looking for more factions with a budget. This DLC would be the better DLC than Call of The Beastmen DLC that's double the cost. You essentially get the entire Beastmen faction unit roster, just without the other leaders from the more expensive DLC.

Another solid DLC. The Beastmen rework makes Taurox' campaign a great amount of fun. I have to give it to CA - they really put a lot of intricate thought into the different things you can do in that campaign. Crazy how complicated it can be to rampage across the world - but the level of complexity is rewarded with more efficient rampaging and a great sense of elation. The mechanics for Oyxl seem interesting but I still haven't gotten my head around them. I've started his campaign over about three times now and I still don't do very well. Part of it is that I just don't like Lizardmen, but another part of it is that the new skinky-stealthy troops given to Oyxl don't seem to do that well in combat unless you cheese them. Oyxl, to me, has potential, but I still haven't discovered the fun buried there.

9/10 for Taurox campaign
5/10 for Oyxl campaign

This is a DLC for those who care only for BLOOD and BATTLE. So none of that prissy city and empire micromanagement guff. Taurox is all about beating the ever living hell out of anything and everything in sight and flexing on the other factions as he taints the lands with his bullish musk. The whole world is your stomping ground as Taurox. And you may come down with a severe case of battle overdose. You will fight a great many battles against likes of the dark elves, the high elves, the lizardmen, the skaven, the empire, the norscans, the dwarves, the vampire coast and the tomb kings... All within a single turn.

Oh, and Oxy-what's-his-name is cool as well, I guess...

Here's the difference between this and call of the beastmen for those who are unsure which to buy

Silence & Fury
Access to 1 legendary lord, 3 RoR and a Eye of the vortex campaign for beastmen + some lizardmen units + 1 Legendary lord(Idk i didnt buy this for lizards)
You will not be able to use the 3 Legendary lords without The other Beastmen DLC

Call of the Beastmen
3 legendary lords, Access to beastmen in Mortal Empires

The main question you should care about really is do you enjoy Vortex Or mortal Empires

I love playing as hordes. My favorite nations to play in other strategy games like Europa Universalis are hordes. It's just a fun style that diverges a bit from normal strategy gameplay which mostly involves a careful combination of wide and tall play. Treat that as a disclaimer; I am biased towards horde style play.

The Beastmen are a blast to play with this. The goal is simple - move from place to place and destroy every enemy, raze everything you come across, and the more destruction you cause the more you scale up. You don't build up any settlements like normal. Instead you put your armies into hidden encampment stance and build up your horde from the gold you earned razing cities. You then take those improvements with you as you move, as they're tied to the horde and not to a specific location. It's a fun idea that I haven't seen done this well in other horde style gameplay, but makes complete sense for nomads.

The lords are also great. Taurox is awesome to watch in battle - he absolutely decimates enemy front lines by himself.

If you want to just have fun destroying stuff then this is highly recommended. Is it balanced? No, not really. You'll probably steam roll the AI. But hey, that's part of the fun of playing hordes.

Taurox is literally unstoppable. Both in game mechanics and power. What a satisfying feeling to play this beast of a dude! If you disliked Beastmen before, you will like them now. Great addition and also came with much needed reform of game mechanics. Beastmen in general feel great now.

Ok, so I have been playing this game for a very long time now and have many hours in the game, but I am so bad that on normal the battles that are decisive victories on auto I somehow lose. My bull friend has allowed me to complete the campaign on very hard. 9/10 fun but too easy

Creative Assembly and Games Workshop have done an excellent job on this DLC for Total War: Warhammer II. To start off with, Beastmen don't have any unit upkeep any more (apart from Ogre Mercenaries), although they DO have a unit cap, which you can increase by winning battles and using the new machinations of the Beastmen to purchase more. What's more, when you erect a Beastmen bloodgrounds, the lands around it cannot be settled until the Herdstone is destroyed (which you can garrison with a herd of strong Beastmen units). The new units, the Cygor, is a literal, and metaphorical monster, a large upgrade from the Giant. The Jabbersclythe, cannot fly even though it has wings, but has poisonous attacks and is hard to kill, presents an ugly problem to your enemies. The Tuskgor Chariots aren't really effective, a low-down from the existing Razorgor chariots, but are effective when you want a start-up army. The Wargor hero is an effective melee hero for the herd, not as effective in melee as the Gorebull (obviously), but able to hold the line against other large units. And finally, Taurox, you want him to smash someone in melee, he can survive most foes and come out the other side like it's nothing. Overpowering boss alert!!!
Lizardmen: The new units give quite a diverse look at them. The Chameleon Stalkers fire explosive rounds at their enemies, and then rush into their foes giving them quite a punishing. The Coatl finally gives the Lizardmen a decent (large) flyer in the sky, happily put it by a couple of squads of Terradon/Ripperdactyl riders. The Feral Troglodon, I'm gonna be honest, don't bother. Just get the Skink Oracle hero as they automatically ride one. And Oxyotl, boy, he may be small, but the dangerous thing about him? He can teleport anywhere on the map and then back to his capital. As a character in battle, not a lot, but he does some debilitating damage support with his blowpipe.
All in all, I give this DLC a Warhammer fan's seal of approval.

This is probably my favorite of these $10 dlcs. I never cared for the beastmen, but this made me fall in love with them. Yea it's not flawless, but this, alongside the free update that came with it completely turned around what once was a terrible faction in this game. Don't care about the lizardmen so that wasn't important to me. Taurox is one of the best LL's and Ghorgons are absolutely amazing.

If you are buying for the Beastmen, this DLC is fantastic. However, the big budget spent on their roster additions took a toll on the Lizardmen...

The Skink Oracle model looks pretty awful with its odd stiffness in comparison to other mounted models like the Scar Vet (who looks to use a similar - if not the same model).
And then there's the Coatl... the trailer showed this to be a really unique looking unit with some even more unique lightning-based attack animations. The reality is very underwhelming. And janky. Super, super janky.

I just finished Oxyotl campaign. It's quite nice. Since Oxyotl gets extreme buffs to skinks I managed to finish the campagin in hard difficulty with a full stack of chameleon stalker and skinks, Tier 2 army. It was nice to experiece with a rush/skirminsh lizardmen army. Oxyotl is extremely mobile on the campagin map, which makes for some fast and nice gameplay. I also enjoy all the work they did with the beastman rework and dwarf rework with the last patch, plus the ogre mercenaries, all of it for free :) CA is quite great :) Looking forward to TW3!

We have finally arrived at the last DLC for Total War Warhammer 2: will the last expansion live up to the rest of the game?

Overview
While the demons are slowly coming at our gates in late 2021 with Total War: Warhammer 3, Creative Assembly released the last DLC for Total War: Warhammer 2. This lords pack marks the final step for this game's journey (and what a journey it has been), introducing new lord and units for the races of lizardmen and beastmen, also introducing the latter in the Vortex campaign. Is this addition good enough for a proper closure of the incredible title that Total War: Warhammer 2 has been?

Horns and Fury
Let's start with my favourite addition: the beastmen in the Vortex campaign, under the control of Taurox the Brass Bull. Taurox is, simply said, an absolute beast (emh, yes, that was meant as a joke). He is a melee expert that simply excels at everything: he has incredibly good damage (and armor-piercing one), good speed, plenty of hp and can basically charge the enemy general head-on, even if enemy units are in the way. The amount of damage that this lord can do is simply too high, resulting in an incredibly easy early game for its Vortex campaign, considering that he also gets very good starting units. The beastmen got the longer end of the stick in this lords pack, also thanks to the long-awaited race rework: the lords of the race now have the ability to raise herdstones in the settlements they destroy. These are special outposts that transform the adjacent lands into bloodgrounds: while fighting and razing settlements into these areas, beastmen gather Marks of Destruction, the resource needed for victory. These important changes finally made one of the most boring and weak races fun to play and, also thanks to the new unit additions, stronger. This new strength can also be noticed in the campaign, which is in my opinion too easy to play: the early game is a charm thanks to the very strong starting creatures, while into the late game Taurox becomes an absolute powerhouse capable of not only destroying entire units (he's a melee expert), but also to duel with the strongest lords of rival factions (thanks to his incredible stats). You will probably reach a point where you'll be auto resolving all but the toughest battles, because you can just steamroll through every opponent.

Besides Taurox itself, the DLC adds new heroes and units that I found to be incredibly useful to the beastmen roster: the new heroes are great additions both in the offensive and defensive sides of battles. Gorgons are incredible four-armed anti-large beasts, capable of health regeneration, that can start bringing down enemy creatures from the start of Taurox' campaign, since you get one from the start. Jabberslythes, opposed to gorgons, are instead powerful anti-infantry monstruosities: even if they cannot fly (yes, they are like penguins), their poisonous vortex and size make them able to stomp through the strongest units. Again, great additions to the roster.

The silence before the ambush
As opposed to beastmen, the new lizardmen lord is instead very hard to play: his starting position is terrifying, as he literally starts (and plays for most of the campaign) encircled by enemies: Norscans to the north and east, Dark Elves to the south and west. Really not a great point to start, especially considering that you will get declared war on very easily even if you don't provoke anyone. The region does not aid in your multiple-fronts war, since it is particularly income-poor and lizardmen are not the strongest race economically speaking. Speaking of the new additions to the roster instead, personally I never like ranged lords, thus I can't really find myself at ease with Oxyotl: he's not bad, but he seems very (too) little when compared to the devastating figure that is Taurox. Chameleon Skinks really shine under his command though, also thanks to special banners that Oxyotl can unlock and that give effects to the missiles fired by the assigned unit (magical, fire, poison damage or special effects).

Oxyotl's campaign mechanics are instead really interesting, but now very cleverly implemented: you are a bulwark against dark forces and are assigned missions to fight enemy armies around the continent. This allows you to teleport your armies around the world to fight these armies and complete missions which, upon completion, will give you various buffs. Watch out though, as failing mission can empower the enemy armies or even start chaos revolts in your own territories. Everything seems fine but gets ultimately ruined by the start position of the faction: you are already defending against multiple enemies and, since you don't have a great economy, you can only afford one army: you really don't have the multiple turns required to send your soldiers around the world and complete the missions! And, when you do have the time, attacking the enemy army requires you to be at war with that faction, so here you go, even more enemies for you. Personally, I found the early game of this faction quite frustrating, with it only getting better after a slow and long expansion of the territory.

The lizardmen new units are... ok. The oracle hero has a nice selection of spells on the first tier, but none on the second one, which is weird. It is however nice to have spells from different lores. Chameleon Stalkers are a nice unit of shock infantry, but I didn't find a really good use for them inside the lizardmen roster. The Coatl is a very powerful creature, capable of casting spells from skies and tear apart entire units of enemies, especially if they are stacked upon each other. The Feral Troglodon is a very effecting monster-deleter with his poisonous anti-large ranged attacks and speed. Overall, these are not bad additions for the lizardmen, but the campaign should be fixed.

Verdict
In the end, The Silence and the Fury is a ok Lord Pack: the biggest change with this update is made by the free rework for the beastmen, which is not tied to the DLC itself. The new factions have nice ideas, but are either not very balanced (Taurox) or not well-thought (Oxyotl's placement, given its mechanics). If you are buying this solely for the lizardmen, wait for a lower price, otherwise have fun steamrolling through everything (both in single and multiplayer) with the new beast-beastman!

I bought this DLC for the Taurox stuff, the Lizardman stuff is cool but really the new Beastmen stuff is the real good stuff here.

The new units for the Beastmen faction are cool, especially the Jabberslythe which has to be one of the most interesting monster designs in the game, the animations are great and it is very effective at tearing through infantry units. The new Lizardmen units are ok, but they already had a pretty good line up of units, whereas the bolstering for the Beastmen was much more urgently needed.

The real reason to get this DLC however, is to play the Taurox campaign. Without going into too much detail, Taurox's campaign is centred around scouring life from the map; winning battles and razing settlements earns you points, you earn enough and you get to complete the final battle and win the campaign. Momentum is a big part of the mechanics of the campaign too, as Taurox has a variety of ways to increase his movement range, replenish armies in the field and generally sow, chaos, plague and disorder. The most destruction you cause without stopping, the greater the rewards become. Play slowly or defensively and you lose momentum and have to build up again.

Ultimately, as you progress, you become more efficient at crossing the map and fighting multiple battles in a single turn, fielding multiple armies and spreading even more plague and corruption, becoming an unstoppable steamroller of destruction and obliterating your foes.

This is the update that the Beastmen needed, allowing you to play the power fantasy of a horde faction without the half-baked mechanics and weak unit economy that made them dissatisfying to play previously. Now, if only Creative Assembly would fix the bug that is causing cavalry units to get out-traded by and stuck on infantry units during charges...

Taurox’s campaign mechanics are amazing. I don’t think there is a faction that comes close to how unique and engaging his campaign in. His was someone’s passion project for sure. I can confidently say Beastmen are FUN! The only downside is I want to to buy the original Beastmen pack on sale so that I can play the other lords.

Oxyotl is fun as well but it can feel very underwhelming compared to Taurox. Oxyotl’s campaign mechanic is similar to the Wood Elf rework in that you can teleport around the world to fight in different places and against different armies. It’s actually pretty fun too.
