Schade..

*PROS*
You have an OG lara model and a pretty interesting story + journey IMO.
A lot of the scenery is beautiful, I wish you could take screenshots but you've gotta install a separate app to do that now.
Dual pistols FTW.
The fights, the little flips Lara can do in the air while shooting off enemies is amazing, one of the most memorable things from the old TR.
The outfits are genuinely so fitting for Lara & she looks badA$$ in them like usual. Have to say the swimsuit is my favorite by far.
The music & atmosphere =)
The sharks & jellyfishies, how they used to scare my younger self when I first saw this game haha.
*In between*
Not really such a short game when you have the vsync & E (interaction) button issues, so in the end you're spending more time with OG Lara, lmao.
*CONS*
The only things that suck are the few bugs: having to continuously place a block over the tiles over & over (even with vsync on) until they stay in place. For some reason they fly far asf in the room after placing them with or without it on until you manage to perfectly place them. Another issue, at the end of this one level, after completing a puzzle, you have to pull this statue to break this square that leads to another area of the game. This statue is like IMPOSSIBLE to pull and apparently others on Tomb raider forums & on here have had the same issue. I will update this review if I have managed to pull the statue. BE aware I have vsync on and everything, this one person on forums said it took them 10-15 minutes to pull the statue while standing in different angles and spamming the interaction button, E. Another person said their game crashed while spamming E & they managed to pull the statue after a few minutes of reloading their save and retrying.
Such a shame really, I love this game so I'm still going to keep trying but I hope if there is ever a remake or update to this game that it fixes these bugs because this is ridiculous.
*UPDATE 1/23/22 (LEGIT 3 MINS OR SOMETHING AFTER POSTING THIS REVIEW)* AHHHHHH!! I HAVE MANAGED TO PULL THE STATUE. BASICALLY, there is a spot you have to stand which is like dead center of the statue while you're pulling it, make sure there is a little bit of a red flower beside your screen in the spot that Lara is standing, then proceed to spam E & BOOM, statue has dropped just like the mic.

There are just 6 levels in Underworld but they are waaaaay bigger than the ones in Legend, both in terms size and details. Developers improved level design by significantly increasing verticality of levels, Lara goes up and down quite a lot in this game.
Underworld justifies having TOMB Raider in its name, each level (excluding Croft Manor) is basicly a tomb, packed with lots of puzzles in terms of navigating in the environment and successfully getting through the levels using everything Lara can climb on. Levels are also packed with collectables (in one level amount of which gets to 50) so you will defineatly be busy on each level. It has to be said though that collectables do not have same value as in Legend where hunting them would grant you something new, like unlocking Outfits, Cheat Codes or even something simple as Concept Arts while in Underworld player does not get anything for pixel hunting whole large levels what is very disappointing and unmotivating. I finished the game in 15 hours, trying to find as many collectables as I could without using guides ( as a result collected all in 3 levels and left some in rest 3) what means that if you wouldn't care about collectables game will be done faster, around 10 hours at max. Considering increased size of levels (what also resulted in absence of Time Trials like in Legend) and the fact that I will not get any extras for hunting remaining treasures (unlike Legend, Lara is not into filling her wardrobe with different outfits, you get 1 new outfit for each level and that is it) leaves me 0 reasons to replay the game.
Story is hooking, at least for me. I did not care about King Arthur and his sword in Legend but I am big fan of North Mythology, that's why payed more attention to story in Underworld than I did in Legend.
Moving on to gameplay. Gunplay is still meh, it is still unloading ammo on enemy while locking on them despite Underworld added a few new features like shooting from hanging on something or something 2 enemies at once if you use dual pistols. Camera isn't perfect as well, especially when Lara climbs on something in narrow corridors, camera just goes into the wall or begins to spin around; or when riding a motorcycle, hell finding collectables while riding this shit gave me quite a headache because camera tends to return to centre when I want to look left or right, game forces camera to get back and look forward which resulted in me getting of it quite freaquently in order to find collectables and wasting my time.
In conclusion, if not meh gunplay and camera which game me headache sometimes, I would give Underworld 10 out of 10, but as how it is currently - 8/10. And yes Lara is a sex bomb as always <3

A Fitting Swan Song for an Icon
Turn off Steam Controller support and enable VSync to fix much of the jank.
Great exploration and atmosphere. The team found a nice middle ground between the bombastic Legend and the isolation of Anniversary.
Graphically, this holds up really nicely. Gameplay is great, but it would have been great if the team had a little more time to fix terrain, physics and camera glitches. But they nailed the essential aspects: raiding tombs
As far as I'm concerned, this is the finale of the Tomb Raider series. I liked 2013, but it removed too much of the core elements, and Rise doubled down on filler, shallow rpg mechanics and boring characters.
Well worth your time to play the trilogy of Legend, Anniversary and Underworld. Fantastic games made just before everything went so wrong.

*IF YOU CAN'T PLACE THE BLOCKS ON THE BUTTON/FLOOR THEN TURN ON VSYNC ON DISPLAY SETTINGS!!*
After playing tomb raider Legend and Anniversary on both ps2 and pc as a teen I always wanted to play this sequel but my older pc couldn't handle it and on ps2 it was a REAAAALLLYYYYY awful port since the story was much shorter than on other consoles and it was full of bugs that made this game unplayable, but now that I've finally built my dream pc I can play all the games I've missed including this one and I have to say it is a strong sequel, the story is beautiful and the graphics too for the time, now as for the gameplay the controls are good but I don't really like the new acrobatics they look a lot simpler than the prequels, the camera is awful and frustrating, it makes puzzles a lot harder and sometimes it gets me a lot dizzy and finally it has a lot of bugs and sometimes it gets on my nerves so get acquainted with it. In conclusion, if you can handle some bugs and the weird camera then this game is definitely worth buying especially for the story. Wait until it gets on sale, it will cost less than a €.

- cheap price during sale
- better graphics than TR Anniversary
- more realistic looking level
- more realistic moves for Lara
- no frustrating adrenaline rush
- still runs on potato Core i3 with Intel HD graphics
What I didn't like
- no bosses
- felt like it was shorter (or it felt that way because in TR Anniversary I constantly had to repeat boss fights due to needing to get adrenaline rush right)
- map is not that useful (or I'm not using it right?), so if I want to 100% complete this I'll need to check walkthroughs to find collectibles
- no Croft manor

I remember playing this game when it first came out, great game genuinely worth the positive reviews.
Coming back however I was starting to have a bad time (REEEEE):
- controls not responding like they should
- physics all wonky
- Enemies attack timers are way off
How could this be? Did I remember this game to better then the trash I had to play these days?
HOW DO I FIX?!
1. You turn Vsync on
2. You cap the game at 60 fps max
3. You cap the refresh rate at 60 hz
But why would I do this?
- Excellent controls
- No wonky physics
- World works like it should
- Game runs like sunshine, very gud (11/10)

Well, time to accept it now. It’s still a good TR title, but a lot of it doesn’t work all that well.
Released just a bit over a year since Anniversary (and this might well be the reason for a lot of issues the game has), Underworld tried to evolve the ideas from Legend while also looking back at the classic TR gameplay studied during the development of Anniversary. It was also a title released well into then current generation, and a year after the release of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, a PS3 exclusive title that not only pushed the visual boundaries and gameplay fluidity of action adventure titles of the kind Tomb Raider was part of, but was also directed by Amy Hennig, who was just a few years prior leading the team developing Underworld. So somehow, despite such a short development cycle, Underworld tried to update a lot.
For one, Lara’s movement, while remaining mostly the same in basic terms, was updated to look more “natural”. She hops onto or over shorter obstacles, can cross smaller distances while shimmying without jumping, has an ability to climb walls with lots of grips (game came out after Assassin’s Creed as well, after all) and her jumps and dodges are more agile in general. Classic inventory from the Anniversary has been removed again, however some puzzles require using items that have physical presence in the game and must be carried, with Lara being able to shoot one-handed at the same time if the object isn’t too heavy. Binoculars have been switched to a camcorder to better fit Lara’s role (though in 2021 this already feels quaint). Combat combines the manual ability to enable the slo-mo shooting from Legend with the critical one-hit shots from Anniversary. Oh and Lara can kick things and enemies too better than before.
Sprint makes a return after being absent since Legend and this improves swimming sections a lot. Several levels include extended swimming segments with unlimited air, which is super fun. And the bike returns as well, now no longer relegated to linear sections or a one-off part from Legend, but rather as a permanent companion of Lara for several levels, just like in The Last Revelation (but far far better). Levels themselves are now absolutely huge and are only symbolically divided into separate sections. And thanks to that there are occasionally multiple paths to the same goal. Secrets, of course, are even more fun to find due to this as well.
It’s a shame then that after a genuinely fun beginning, with a cold opening of an exploding Croft Manor and a long exploration of a ruin, focusing on platforming and puzzles, it switches to combat and things start to feel a bit off. You start with human enemies, which simply feel not as fun to fight as in Legend, but as soon as wild animals start attacking you, things fall apart. For some reason, all of the non-human enemies are painful to lock-on to, due to the speed and erratic movement. While most big animals also have rush attacks that hit you from across rooms and knock you down, while you can’t see anything because the camera cannot handle this. When you’re not jump on by 3 giant spiders from 10 meters away, you’re swarmed by dozens of little spiders or bats which sloooowly gather around you, while you cannot really do much else until the swarm ends. It’s a constant whiplash between obnoxious and tedious with no middle ground and how did we get here after Legend is beyond me.
And if only this rough unbalanced feeling concerned only action. Sadly, lots of puzzle and exploration segments feel not entirely thought out as well. Context-sensitive jumps that you don’t land either because something went wrong out of your control or because you tried to jump from one clearly reachable location, but the game would only accept another spot to jump from. New context animations sometimes get in the way too with Lara jumping over a box you should clearly be able to jump onto to get higher. Out of all of the Legend trilogy, this was also the only game where I had “okay, now what” moments, where the game lacked any signposting. While some puzzles simply had some bizarre additional layers that were not necessary and went beyond the point of the puzzle being fun.
It’s also worth noting that the game originally had 2 DLCs that are not present on the PC version and neither were they included with the PS3 release of The Tomb Raider Trilogy, making them currently exclusive to the Xbox 360 original release of the game. Other than that, though, the PC version of the game is still fine and doesn’t have any notable issues.
Even though I’ve had far less enjoyment with the game than I hoped I would, I still liked replaying Tomb Raider: Underworld. It didn’t quite do what it aimed to do, but it still delivered a really fun Tomb Raider experience, mixing the freshness of Legend with more of the classic elements of the series. The action in the game isn’t great, though luckily the game difficulty is entirely customizable, so this can at least be tweaked. While the levels are really fun to explore and the sense of adventure, the key to any Tomb Raider game, is here. I’d still recommend checking this game out and it might still be among the best Tomb Raider titles out there, even if it’s less fun than I remembered it being.

Adventure
A decent entry in the Tomb Raider series, but no more than “average” overall.
The story and atmosphere are decent, but not great. Most of the gameplay is puzzle platforming. This sometimes gets a bit repetitive, but there is enough variation and cutscenes to prevent it from getting too tedious. The balance between platforming and other types of gameplay is better than in Tomb Raider Anniversary, but maybe not quite as engaging for the masses as the 2013 reboot, which had more action. The platforming difficulty is generally good for most of us, but on the easy side for hardcore gamers. I struggled with some parts, but always got through after a while. Some environments look really nice (Thailand), but others have rather bare and bland level design. The combat is fairly bad, as expected with this series. The checkpoint save system is also annoying, but not too bad.
There is still big room for improvement in this area though. At least there are difficulty settings for specific things like enemy health and fall damage.
Lara's controls are a bit mixed. In some ways they are fine, but they also feel a bit nervous and she moves less natural, less inertia and animation flow. As usual, sometimes the controls don't do what you want, causing many accidental deaths. Also, the camera behaviour can be disorienting, and the FOV is unpleasantly low. At least there is no mouse acceleration. The HUD is bad - you have to open your PDA to change weapon and see how much ammo you have. None of these flaws are game breaking though.
I would say this is a game to get when on sale, and only if you are ok with a lot of puzzle platforming.

This is a 3d puzzle game with some combat thrown in. It has as many glitches as skyrim but in much less game area and without the redeeming fun because they are so prevalent. The only up side is the artwork.
-In mission 1 there is a glitch where you cannot drop a box unless your in game v/g-sync setting is correct
-Every few yards while exploring you'll get caught on an invisible snag you have to jump to get out of
-The tutorial prompts aren't on screen long enough
-You will constantly find yourself turning video settings off and on to accommodate the various mission impeding glitches
I'm glad I got this on such a cheep sale because I will not be playing it any more.

In summary I'm stuck in the game because of an unresolved bug.

13 years later, I expected nothing, but ended up being nicely surprised, as graphically, even to this day it looks much better than games that came after this.
Storyline is really nicely crafted, and all trilogy makes sence.
Soundtrack is really beautiful, especially in Thailand. Overall the game is having much more dark theme than previous two lightearted games.
I can recommend, if you want to spend few hours in the world of Lara Croft.

Even considering that this is an old game, I'm still disappointed in the way it plays. My laptop meets the minimum as well as recommended requirements of this game but yet I had to dial down the settings to lowest possible while playing some of the environment related tasks like grappling and picking/placing heavy objects. The camera movements are nauseating to say the least. Mouse control just doesn't translate as well as you'd expect from a game that requires you to interact with the environment so much. I tried changing mouse sensitivity in game as well as tweaking my mouse's settings out of game; it still sucked. Keyboard mapping is not intuitive (kind of a subjective complaint, you can remap keys). The story and missions are quite okay. No complaints there.
All in all I think this is a bad port. I shouldn't have expected many good things from a game that only costs ₹39 (less than 1 Dollar US).

Underworld is a direct sequel to Legend, which means if you haven't played the latter (and preferably Anniversary as well), you're going to quickly become lost in a sea of supernatural monsters, returning characters, and a plot that bites off quite a bit more than it can chew. All that said, it finally answers most if not all of the questions proposed by the last two games, finally giving Lara some closure for all that's happened up to this point, as well as for the trilogy, allowing CD free control to go wherever they like with a sequel. It's not going to blow your mind or keep you thinking about it after the credits role, but the narratives blockbuster mentality is more than enough to entertain and carry the game through to the end (provided you don't stop to think about why anything is happening alone the way).
While Legends focused more on style and set pieces, and Anniversary on classic tomb raiding and puzzle solving, Underworld finally manages to meld these two halves almost perfectly, creating what I would consider the truest expression of Tomb Raider Crystal Dynamics has made. The mechanics themselves have been expanded significantly from past games, with platforming in particular getting a much needed upgrade thanks to Lara's larger move set, which feels far more natural and free form than what we've seen in the past as well as allows for a greater amount of variety in the level designs. The levels themselves have also gotten a boost, now on an outrageous scale that towers above you as you attempt to work your way through them, populated by more elaborate puzzles and a ridiculous number of hidden collectibles to find. Everything that Tomb Raider is known for has been improved and taken on a new scope, but in a similar vein, all the has been wrong with the series for years has been entirely neglected.
Combat, though moderately improved, is still as mindless and unsatisfying as ever. The camera continues to be your worst nightmare, seemingly out to make navigating through levels a living hell and often sending you jumping off in entirely the wrong direction. Numerous frustrating glitches make themselves known throughout, from harmless bugs to aggravating mishaps that make progression incredibly difficult. Most disappointing though is how the level designs can often get ahead of themselves, leaving you scratching your head at the enormous size of them without the slightest idea where to begin. The hint system certainly helps in this regard, but it's an imperfect solution, and ideally one you shouldn't ever need to rely on.
If you have ever played a Tomb Raider game before though, none of this should surprise you. As I said before, Crystal Dynamics has built up what the series does best, while quietly ignoring its issues perhaps hoping they'll be overshadowed or ignored. Personally I'm more than capable of putting up with these annoyances in exchange for the rest of the experience, but I'm definitely beginning to ask myself why I'm OK doing this, or if I should have to (the answer for which is obvious). If you didn't enjoy Legend or Anniversary you will find nothing more to draw you into Underworld, but for those who have yet to tire of Lara's escapades Underworld provides a fitting final chapter in this particular story of her life, if also a signal that it's probably time to move onto something new.

I use a controller for games like this cos I have this game and the other 2 games on Xbox. using the controller means I know what buttons to press to make Lara do what I want her to do.
I wanna say that this is a good port but it just isn't. there's issues where grappling onto a ledge leads to a corpse launch into space. HOWEVER,considering I despise the Tomb Raider remake of 2013 until now and this happens to be the LAST good TR game before then,I'd somewhat recommend it.
To me,the recent TR games are based around survival and they lack the puzzles which played a big role in the very first TR game on PS1 until this one, replacing the puzzles with survival elements takes away the soul of the TR series and why so many people loved them. That and the fact that you can do gymnastics on this game when you grab onto a ledge or even do some extreme free climbing which was fun.
Bottom line is that if you are a die hard TR fan that loves the series up until this point, get it. if not and you prefer the newer ones, don't bother. simple as that really. PC version is a simple 5/10 cos of the bugs, glitches and just overall gameplay issues but the console versions are a clear 20/10 cos they didn't have any issues.

pretty fun from the hour I played but could only get as far as the Norse connection puzzle to get into Zeus' gauntlet due to the bugs and MASSIVE fps drops.
unlucky experience. not worth the effort.

For me personally, I had an extreme problem with stuttering, until I went through a few tricks, including turning on VSYNC. Then it got a lot better, and the stuttering seemed to subside after a bit of playing.
The puzzles in this one are pretty boring, and I eventually gave up after Lara glitched out and got caught on something and I couldn't manage to free her.
Will probably play it again eventually, as it's in my library, but I'm in no rush. There are newer games with similar gameplay that are less buggy.

However, I almost refunded this game because it was unplayable with a controller at first so I want to post the fix for anyone that is having them aswell.
Enter Big Picture mode, go to settings, deactivate the support for Xbox and PS controller, then launch the game and it should be fixed. It sounds counter intuitive but after deactivating the support it started working perfectly.
I absolutely recommend this game, specially with such a low price. ($0.98 at the time of this review)

FIRSTLY, this game gets weirdly laggy in some places for no reason. Changing in game settings don't seem to fix anything so to fix it I went into NVIDIA Control Panel and manually turned on V-sync for the game.
MAYBE SPOILERS:
The story is much better in this one, although it really does need Legend to be played beforehand to fully understand it. The dialogue is also HUGELY improved, no more one-liners for every sentence!! Also the characters are better and Amanda is acceptable (although this may be because she has less screen time). There are some references to events in Tomb Raider Anniversary but I don't think it's vital to have played it, it's just brief mentions of past events and can all be understood whilst playing the game.
The gameplay in general is better. The controls are better, though you might want to rebind some keys to make it a bit easier. Medkits are now on V instead of halfway across the keyboard! Grenades are now sticky grenades and are actually helpful! The combat is also a lot improved, target lock is on right mouse button by default and is hold instead of toggle and it felt way better (almost makes me want to double check if I can make it like that in TRL instead of the stupid press G to toggle rubbish it had). Lara also seems to move around the enemies better and the combat in general just feels a lot more involved even though she is still autotargetting. There is less combat in general though, with much less human enemies.
This one is also way more puzzle focused with the puzzles in general being bigger - some can encompass the whole level. I'm not massively great at puzzles but they were easy enough for me to solve but hard enough that I did have to think about it. What's great with this game though is that you can change the difficulty of different aspects of the game, so you can change puzzle difficulty separate to combat difficulty.
I think the only con of this game (aside from the lag mentioned right at the beginning) is the camera, which is a thing you will discover how bad it is right away. It's worst in enclosed spaces and of course the game begins in an enclosed area. It was a thing I learnt to manage, the worst parts are mainly when you are jumping from certain ledges and can't see where you are jumping to because of the small space. This can generally be worked around by just looking at the puzzle path from a different place so you can just about estimate how to jump. Even though this was what I thought was the worst aspect, at no point was I spitting with rage and having to redo sections over and over, so I don't think it was that bad.
Other notes to make: the graphics are way improved and everything in general looks better, and if you are trying to find all the hidden relics be prepared for Tomb Raider: Pot Smashing Simulator.

Storywise, TR: Underworld starts off very well. It places you in a curious situation with a little cliffhanger to start the game with. The voice-acting is fine (phenomenal for Lara as always) and the story feels solid, continuing off from where the last game ended - unfortunately, it loses a bit of its magic near the end and becomes stale.
The soundtrack for this game is decent, it sounds great when you first hear it but it becomes indistinguishable and slightly repetitive with the epic choir & orchestra in the background of every action scene.
In terms of movement, this is where I was most disappointed. After playing the other CD Tomb Raider games I can tell you that this is the one with the worst camera angles, movement and general animations for climbing:
More often than not, Lara will jump in a direction you didn't tell her to.
More often that not, Lara will glitch through objects and fall.
More often than not, the camera will go absolutely bonkers and you can't see where to go.
Animations like swinging on a rope are HORRID, where it skips frames when you jump off the rope and looks like you teleported. Lara also sometimes grabs ledges and her hands are at an angle and/or go inside the stone she's holding on to. It feels like CD traded pretty graphics for slightly worse gameplay.
The pretty graphics do help the game look really good though - the facial animations were done with motion capture and every facial expression feels real and human.
Although platforming can be a bit annoying, you eventually get used to it and here's where the game shines: there's a lot less combat in this game than in TR: Legend, with more focus on platforming and puzzles. There are new moves which I thought were great additions (jumping from wall to wall in quick succession to climb stuff; climbing on top of swinging poles; maintaining balance with the movement keys...).
There are also new weapons and enemies (wild animals make a comeback as enemies and you even fight sharks).
The option to choose between different variations of costumes for each mission was also a nice touch to add variety to each mission.
I know I mostly listed bad stuff, but aside from these things the game is very much worth playing as a finale to this trilogy. I had lots of fun along with a few droplets of frustration, and although the ending was lackluster, the rest of the game made up for it.
---WARNING: there is DLC for this game which is only available on Xbox - if you want to know how the story truly wraps up you have to either play it there or watch it on YouTube. That's also not cool but it is what it is.---
