(ubisoft)

Apart from that, you have a decent RTS-game which can clearly be quite enjoyable.
But it also has to face problems.
First and foremost the atmosphere suffers a bit, when a tank needs 3 shells to hit another tank which is about 10 metres away from it.
But what mostly annoys me is the big lack of units. In total there roughly exist 6 different units: Light infantry, pioneers, tanks, troop transports and helicopters, while the transporters also take the part of the anti air guns. And that is too less in my opinion. Even a World in Conflict had about 30 units of each side and putting an aa-vehicle in the game can´t be that hard or is it?
But those aren´t real problems. In fact, for 10 Euros you can´t do anything wrong, if you want a good decent RTS. But if you want something more deeply, switch to World in Conflict, the Company of Heroes franchise or the Wargame franchise.

The good is the graphics for its era, the situation map is alright even though it is barebones, the controls are fine (with nice simple binds to keyboard and voice) and the rock-paper-scissors type of gameplay is taken to an extreme level. It is simple to learn but on a higher level it can be quite challenging. There is some basic customization and upgrades for your troops which add a bit of flavor to the game, however dont expect to fully upgrade your units because the game will end by the time you do. Get a trainer online if you want to try out what they can do while maxed out. Also units have veterancy levels which allow them to use said upgrades. But if you lose a unit completely those upgrades are gone. Your defeated unit can be extracted but if they are entirely destoyed they are gone for good (WMDs are mostly responsible for this).
The bad is the camera since it is basically glued to a single unit. Yes you can rotate and move a bit with WASD but it is very difficult to see anything especially with ground units in trees. The camera flies across the map when switching units so it can be very dissorienting. The other main issue I have is with unit behavior. Path finding is simple yet units react slowly or do something weird entering combat while also being on the move. The troops are retarded when you want to use transports. They can leave transports if you accidentally order them to move or attack something. The AI is predictable cause it will always spawn units that are a direct counter to your units and if you get to Defcon 1 you will always get hit with a WMD where your units are a lot closer together even if there is no enemy in sight. So the AI is just made to hard-counter you, which is very lame. The global map has this weird thing that i despise - you can do 1 battle per turn but the enemies can have multiple battles regardless. You defend 1 point only to lose another on a different location. Then after you recapture it you lose the one you captured before. This happened so many times its stupid. The story is nonexistent too.
So, if you want to try an interesting take on the vast genre of strategy games, try this one since it is one-of-a-kind. It was made mostly for consoles but feels good playing it on both PC and Console (despite the flaws). LAN still works and Skirmish while the main selling point is gone for good - the multiplayer. The global map had multiple battles and depenging on how well the factions played the territories would change. Shame as that concept is interesting by itself yet it is lost today. As I said - A game from another time.

On my pc, it crashes after 6-7 matches, but when I reenter the game, it records my progress so I have yet to lose any data. I do wish a DLC or End War 2 would come out and maybe it could go a little bit more in dept, and maybe fights around other parts of the world, new units, etc.

1. Destructible environments.
2. Persistent corpses/damage.
This game has both. Not only that, but the combat is... basic? Fun, but basic. It's a rock-paper-scissors experience where tanks beat APCs, APCs beat air, and air beats tanks, with infantry being a 'fuck you' to all of them if it's in cover, unless it's attacked by other infantry. The campaign is fun, if not a little repetitive, and there is, surprisingly, some batallion customization! You can change your batallion's camouflage between missions, as well as upgrade your unit's weapons, armor, add new abilities, or increase mobility. It's pretty addicting.
As for the whole Voice Control feature... well... when it works, it's great, though, don't expect it to very much. If you mumble, or don't sound like a Californian, you're gonna struggle a bit to get it to understand your accent.
Still would recommend if you're looking for a near-future sci-fi WW3 game. Definitely is worth it's price, full or not.

☢ Good Concept, Poor Execution ☢
That game had a lot of potential, since:
♙ The setting is based from the Tom Clancy's Universe.
♙ It's from Ubisoft, a AAA studio.
♙ The ideas presented for game mechanics are innovative for the RTS genre.
♙ It's very close from the same age when World in Conflict had been published by Ubisoft as well, so the WW3 Modern Warfare premise had been very popular, (everyone wanted and still wants a game to continue playing from where World in Conflict ended) so the market had been very receptive for such project.
But we have two major problems, that made the game sell very bad and be forgotten quite fast:
♟︎ The controls is a key piece for a game be a success or a fail, and EndWar™ lacks quality on that, for example the camera movement/angles are a nightmare, the controls are also too much complicated and the UI isn't intuitive at all, that makes the gameplay annoying/boring instead of being fun and fluid.
♟︎ The detail and work done on the overall game features doesn't show depth, it's very simple, with a bit more work and effort they could had improved the whole experience a lot, like for example the maps/scenarios, most of it isn't destructible or can't be interacted with. The cutscenes aren't a labor of love either, they are very simple and short, for example, all the endings of the game are a copy paste of few images that looks like power point slides.
In comparison with World in Conflict, where we could destroy the environment around us, and also the destroyed units remained at the battlefield, that did suffer a transformation as explosions and combat intensified during a playthrough, that is what we wanted to experience again from Ubisoft, even more from a title with a WW3 setting set on the Tom Clancy's universe.
I did give it a chance, but now i see it's not whorty, maybe even during a sale, asking a refund of it, since i'm still eligible to get one, and there's no point in having a title that i didn't enjoyed on my library to get dust haha
⚠ Warning ⚠
The game probably doesn't work on modern systems like Windows 10, so be aware of it, if you want to give it a try.
♘ Btw, the marketing staff did a good job with the trailer, it's amazing:
https://youtu.be/CyYNBYedzqw
a shame that the studio couldn't deliver the same quality to core gameplay mechanics. ♖

One of the good thing of this game, is that there is no time wasted building stupid factories to get units. You simply request them. Technology is also purchased once. They concept of getting rid of the user time-trap and micro-grind is great.
I gave it a thumbs down because there is slightly more negative than positive. If you can deal withe the camera, this is a game that deserve a place in your library.

Pros: Great gameplay, good graphics and nice dificulty.
Negatives: Awful balance with artillery and especially engeneers. (You need around 5 units to take them down in cover, ridiculus)
Me encanta el juego, quería jugarlo desde hace mucho tiempo y lo conseguí por un precio extremadamente bajo. Tiene una gran jugabilidad y se mantiene con sus gráficos incluso hoy en dia.
Ventajas: Gran jugabilidad, buenos gráficos y buena dificultad.
Negativos: Horrible equilibrio con la artillería y especialmente con los ingenieros. (Necesitas alrededor de 5 unidades para derribarlos en cobertura, ridículo)

The campaign map and the idea behind it is very simple, maybe way too simple. Each faction can make one move each turn (go for a sector, raid). See where this is going? The US might bite EU while EU bites RU while RU bites US. Very linear. The AI is dumb even in expert. I've had a game where the US got almost all of its territory taken from it by Russia while it kept attacking me (Europe) in my land. How logic is that? It felt so repetitive and boring.
Combat is simple, as stated above, basic RPS with helis, tanks, AA, artillery and infantry. Also command vehicles and support weapons like air strikes, EMP, WMD... Click on enemy units and let them fight, fights are long (tactical RTS). You get money from combats and can improve your troops.
I would have recommended this game years ago when I played it for the first time (it is from 2009) but now it feels too outdated, both from mechanics and graphical perspective (1080p 30fps). Dumb AI does not help.

If you want to do well... artillery and helicopters can kill anything, engineers are good for securing uplinks, especially with their ability. The WMD's get annoying though, having a high level unit get nuked back to level 1 is not cool. Also, the camera can be a pain to manage.
I bought it on-sale and am happy with my purchase.

Not really what i would call a strategy game, its more about killing all the enemies you see so that you don't get instant killed by a WMD.
its one of those rock paper scissors games except its tank beats transports beats helicopter beats tanks.
except literally none of them beat infantry and infantry cant beat artillery.
so you just set up infantry in a building and use art to clear the map and tanks to kill anything that you infantry cant handle. its a easy win and the game gets easier as you progress
its about 30 skirmishes on normal mode to win and by about the 15th you will be unbeatable.
The game is really just a tedious killing spree.

Impressive design and full control over regiments of Infantry, Armoured and Helicopter squadrons.
Offmap support such as airstrikes and AI regular army units, along with other abilities such as EMPs make this game a good time killer for those that enjoy single player campaigns.
For those looking for multiplayer games, look elsewhere. This only caters to the battle commanders willing to test themselves against AI.
In essence you pick your particular regiment depending on how you wish to play, then go into ww3 as either the USA, EU or Russia.

So.
Where do I start?
Tom Clancy's EndWar is a real-time strategy/real-time tactics game, unfortunately neglected by its developers, released in 2008 and featuring a World War 3 where your decisions decide the course of the war. It involves three factions - the USA, the European Federation (A unified EU) and the Russian Federation (Which has again expanded into Eastern Europe. Including, to nobody's big surprise, Sevastopol). The interesting thing about EndWar is that it is not like other RTS or RTTs - you do not decide where each army strikes, or what to research, or even if you want to make nice with China so it invades Russia - you are a mere colonel in a special operations branch of your faction's army, and the only control you have over the world is where you deploy. Whether you win or lose the battle as a result of said deployment changes whether your faction grows or shrinks. Other world events, such as typhoons or the U.S.S. George Bush being sunk by your nation's WMD and airstrikes are communicated through the world map's news service.
The campaign is split into two parts - a Prelude to War, in which the game explains the backstory and the game mechanics, as well as how and why World War III erupted and to give you a feel for each faction, and the Third World War itself. The AI is competent depending on difficulty level (On normal, for example, it is fairly competent, while on the hardest difficulty it is very competent), and the graphics are good for a game released in 2008.
All-in-all, I would very much recommend this game to everyone. Unfortunately, the Theatre of War servers (WW3 multiplayer) have been shut down and as a result players are restricted to games with friends or offline games. There are groups that still play EndWar matches, however I am not sure exactly of their URLs - they are, however, active on the Community Hub.
