The controls were horrendous and CONSTANTLY getting in my way, I hope you too can also enjoy trying to wall grab double jump and accidentally falling off the wall!! Hated all the enemy types and the combat - honestly the game would probably have been a lot better with the combat removed.
Was definitely fooled by the art style and cutscenes into thinking I would like this frustrating thing, holy moly!!!

Part of the problem might also be that this game _feels_ like it wants me to play in a very fast-paced manner – on the other hand, for many fighting moves I have to be standing still, and the enemies have so much HP that it feels like I'm spending way more time on them than I should. Might be all in my head, but this dissonance really bothers me.
Also, I don't normally hate on video game soundtracks – generally, I either love them or don't notice them much. But every song I've heard in this game is really, really repetitive and dull to me. Which is a bit of a problem when this is supposed to be a difficult game where you die and play the same level over and over again – and you end up hearing what feels like a 30-second-sound loop for like 15 minutes at a time.
All in all, I can't personally recommend it. I realize that some of my criticisms are kinda vague, and looking at all the positive reviews I'm sure I'm in the minority with my opinions. But if you're looking for difficult, fast-paced platformers... Dunno, I'd recommend Hollow Knight, Celeste, or Salt and Sanctuary instead.

Other than that — and I mean no offense by saying that — this game has a similar look and feel as SMB, and definitely a lot of replay value. Aimed at speedrunners as well, which I don't consider myself, but while on a no-death run, it's quite appealing to speedrun as well, and dodge most enemies, whereas you'd normally finish them off for (combo) points.
9.5 pints of ????/1???? — surprisingly good 'band-aid' ;-)

It has nice artstyle and sPoOkY lovecraftian atmosphere. That's pretty much all.
Chiptune soundtrack is kinda repetetive. Tracks are okay, but when you're stuck on a level for 20 minutes, you just getting sick of this endless 2-3 minutes long loop.
Levels are simplistic boring and very similar. I've finished 5 and the main difference between them is background and music.
The game isn't difficult, it's frustrating. Don't get me wrong, I love tough platformers like Super Meat Boy or Celeste. I dig levels with lots of insta-kill spike pits. But in this game it just doesn't click with me. I'm fine with trying time and time again, but not in this.
Combat system is bad. I've played with gamepad. All moves are locked on one button:
Punch: hold forward+O
Kick forward: O
Kick upward: hold O
Punch upward: up+O
Dash punch: forward+O
Now imagine how many times you will fail either because you missclick or the game register wrong move. I did upward punch instead of simple punch so often that my patience ended. Why the hell they binded so much moves on a single button? I don't know. They could bind kick moves on a different key.
Overall it wasn't worth it on release, isn't worth it now. I've tried to like this, but it sucks. Eh.

The game is not especially long, and there is not much in the way of story, but it is one of those games that grades your performance in each level which adds replayability if you are the kind of person who likes to strive for a higher grade.
You can improve your score by completing levels faster, by using less checkpoints, by performing flashier combos with more hits, etc.
It's a good game overall and I recommend it.

It's very super meat boy'ish. If you enjoy the kinda platformers that are purposely hard, then give it a go.

The controls feel great. They're sharp as hell. This gets used a lot when talking about games like this, but, every mistake you make feels like, well - your fault. Which then further pushes you to improve.
The game gradually introduces you to new things, such as enemies, new moves and new terrain gradually, never feeling like 1000 things suddenly got added at once. It gives you time to learn how to deal with them before using them more, which is obviously a good thing.
Despite the fact you only use a total of 6 buttons, you have a fairly large move-set at your disposal, which is difficult to get decent at, however incredibly satisfying once you do. You really feel like you're improving, and being able to deal with platforming challenges and enemies better than before feels, quite frankly, amazing.
The game also, at least to me, never felt unfair. The levels gradually increases in difficulty, as well as including guest bonus levels, which also range from easy to incredibly difficult. However, the difficulty is not artificial in the slightest. Every level is unique with different challenges, and the game doesn't just throw hundreds of enemies at you in an extremely bad spot and tells you to just deal with it. You always have space to manoeuvre your way out of dangerous situations.
However, while not unfair, the game is difficult and requires either patience or determination/self-hatred measured only by the amount of money Jeff Bezos is worth multiplied by 2. All jokes aside, if you don't like difficult games then, this probably unfortunately isn't for you, unless you're willing to play the heavily nerfed novice mode.
Although, if you're one for a challenge/100% game completion like me, there are several things you can do after finishing the main game, giving this game extreme replay value. You can get higher ranks depending on your score, with A and S both earning you an achievement, attempt to get all collectable pages in a level, beat the set speedrun time, kill all enemies, complete the level deathless, beat other people's scores/times on the leaderboards, and go for all of the other achievements. These are all incredibly fun to do, and, as of writing this, I'm still in process of doing so, and probably will be for a while. You can get amazing value out of this game if you go for everything.
The art is really nice. I'm personally a fan of pixel art, and this game does it well. The overall lovecraftian-horror aesthetic of the game is portrayed really well. The cutscenes, level backgrounds and foreground They're all extremely well made. The soundtrack as well, is great, to the point where I listen to some of these outside of the game, which I honestly rarely do for game OSTs.
Overall, They Bleed Pixels is an amazing game. Worth every cent. Hell, I'd say it should be priced higher.
Obviously not for people who dislike difficult games.
10/10.

I remember being good at this game, but holy crap it's tough.
There's a pile of mechanics thrown at the player, right out of the gate.
Learning, mastering, and utilizing them all is what makes it such good fun.

The basic attack is pressing the attack button while moving to the left/right. This dashes you forward followed by stabs when pressing the attack button more. However the dash has a cooldown and there is no way to simply stab on the ground without dashing. This becomes a problem when you continue to attack and end up dashing into spikes after the dash cooldown runs out. There are also times where you want to dash into an enemy, but the dash is on cooldown and normal walking to them is either too slow or you realized the dash is on cooldown too late.
The platforming requires precision which is fine enough. The combat also requires precision but the controls are not precise enough without causing mistakes.

The fact that they recommend a controller but movement isn't analog is also kindof puzzling, particularly since movement can be kindof sharp and jerky.
Real great aesthetic and it feels good when you're on the way up though, so it is still recommended for people into this sort of thing. It's the sort of game where the speed runs are breathtaking.

Story and theme are kinda shady but if u are fine with that then u will love gameplay and game design of this game.
As the title says They Bleed Pixels u can imagine what's in-game, a lot of pixels and a lot of blood, also a lot of spikes and saws, and a few bombs.
There is not a lot type of enemies but every enemy is unique, collecting pages (there are 6 pages on every map) is sometimes tricky but that gives the game another level of puzzling, and yea some puzzles in-game are very creative.
Overall I recommended this game.

Easy to learn, hard to master. You will die a lot, but that isn't a hindrance since you can place the checkpoint practically anywhere and then relocate it. If you are going for 100% completion, you will have to learn tricks like how to keep combos alive to maximize your score and how to overcome extreme frustration when you are trying to get through a stage without dying for the 100th time, only to end up dying with the goal in sight.
Gamepad strongly recommended.
