It challenged me, especially with its simplified details and challenging puzzles that you pondered over. If you want to jump from the 1970's to the 2000's or even the millennium, I think you will get what you want in this game.
When Steam makes a discount, the price is also quite low, I recommend you to try it.

The art is fitting for an adventure game and the chapters are not that long.
The time travel aspect of pushing a button shows what the room looks like in the future.
Negatives:
The main character Joe makes smart aleck comments and there are times I want to smack him across the head. He lacks common sense and does not have any memorable/redeemable traits.
Many parts of this game require you to fetch, combine or use an item in a way that does not even make sense. This forces the player to guess how an item is used and there are cases where the player is forced to backtrack to another room to use the item. For example, you are given a half eaten apple and you randomly use soil in a unexpected location to plant a tree.
The ending/last 2 chapters present a story that does not make sense and is unfulfilling for the buildup. Just to give you a hint, there is a spy involved and a world ending crisis.

Puzzles were nice and quite easy (finished it in about 4 hours without looking for hints).
For one achievement I had to change language to english.
Also game crashed to desktop once.
One of the puzzles required to fill up fire extinguisher with water... It doesn't work like that.
Taking all those minor details aside - I had fun.

To expand on what I mean by that: this is a decent point 'n' click game, that's tightly paced, and doesn't overstay it's welcome in the slightest. The puzzles completely defy every joke about the point 'n' click genre as a whole having puzzles that are ridiculous and impossible to figure out without just clicking all over the screen and mashing items against everything - although you'll likely still want to do so in this game, as some of the jokes that result from this are pretty amusing. Truth be told, just about everything's pretty surprisingly straightforward, yet still pretty fun to figure out. Hits a decent balance by neither making you strain your brain, nor breeze through it like you're just pushing shapes through holes. Though figuring things out may not be as satisfying as in some harder games, as a result of the difficulty not really being an issue at any point - I still enjoyed the simple feeling of progressing from area to area enough to keep at it. And on that note...
This game has honestly been absolutely carried to the high levels of praise it's garnered by it's sound design, music, and art direction. This would be getting 6s and 7s outta 10 if it weren't for the absolutely engrossing atmosphere that the developers crafted. Hell - even the story isn't anything to write home about. It really is just everything else related to the artistic direction of this title that's fairly masterful. And you know what? That works for me. I haven't enjoyed just zoning out and just taking in the sights and sounds of a point 'n' click game this much since I was a kid.
tl;dr - if you play this game for any reason, do so to experience the wonderful art and soundscape. 'Cause while the look of the game alone piqued my interest in this game all those years ago, the unexpectedly excellent audio only further sold me on it when I finally got around to playing through it. Visuals unlike anything I've seen in any other point 'n' click game, coupled with music and ambient noise 'n' sound effects that completely sell you on the world of it. Well worth the money for those alone, if not for everything else.

The game is not bad, but it's not that good either. So I'll mark it as a good time waster.
Why am I a bit negative?
- The puzzles aren't really puzzles, you just find stuff you immediately need on something else and most of the time you don't even need to think about where to use it and other times it's just stupid and you just use the object on stuff and it works. No real thinking here, no real puzzles.
- While the time traveling idea is good, it is overused, you need to switch time constantly in every room. Take object from
room X in time A, go to time B, go to room Y, go to time A, go to room Z, go to time B, use object you took. It's like that all the time.
- The things he says are written for when you follow a specific path, but you are not obligated to follow that specific path. For example, when I tried to drive away with an ambulance, the hero told me he needed the address of a specific person I didn't yet knew I was interested in finding. It was only later that I discovered that I wanted to find that guy and who he was in the first place, but my hero already knew about him before all that.
- The user interface is not smooth: you interact with something and you need to wait 2 seconds until you get the answer. On the other hand, the answer sometimes fades away before you can read it (usually because when you don't see the answer immediately, you start concentrating on other stuff)
- The game is marked as a horror game, but it's not scary at all.
So no, I don't recommend it but it's not that bad either.
Update: I just finished the game and it didn't get better. The story is not at all overwhelming and I really expected more.

The story is involving, and the science-fiction element is overwhelmed by the ultra logical thinking and limitations of the main character.
The puzzles and tasks are not that demanding, and therefore the game is smooth and relaxing.
I hardly ever keep the music on when playing games, but this particular score provided extra pleasure.
A brilliant game, I wish there was a sequel to this.

It's not awful, but just mediocre. The art style is pretty cool. But it feels very clunky overall. The puzzles are way too easy. The time travel mechanic had a lot of potential, but other than a couple puzzles where doing something in the past influences something in the future, it's mostly just used to pick up items and get through doors that are closed in one time and closed in the other. It's also very short, 2.6 hours, and yet it still felt like it dragged a bit at the end.

You will be disappointed if you expect a Monkey Island type game because it is so linear. It plays like a mobile game. You hold no more than a couple objects at a time, and each object is used up immediately once you find something to use it on, of which there are not many choices. For this reason it is also EXTREMELY EASY. There is zero challenge. It's more of an interactive story than a puzzle-solver.
Having said that, it's still entertaining, but has no replay value unless you just like the story. I would pay no more than $5 for this.
7/10

Despite that, I find that mostly second half of the game makes running back and forth a chore when it comes to finding solutions. When it comes to skipping forward on dialogues, the design makes it sluggish. And I have to lower my speakers because there are no volume options available.
Overall that, The Silent Age is worth a check for its sale price, something that could appeal to fans of time travel themes and forgiving challenge level.

A short thriller, science fiction story about American political lies, greed and corruption.
I can best compare it to A New Beggining in respect of the time travel aspect.
Pros:
- Smooth design, puzzles, graphics, everything is very polished.
- The fully voiced dialogues are of very appropriate quality. Surprising from an unknown developer.
Cons:
- The start of the game is slow.
- When clicking for item description, there's (...) which means that you have to wait for more text before clicking again for the next piece of information. Not very intuitive.
The soundtrack is outstanding synthetic. Totally nailed the 1970's feeling.

There are two main things on point-and-click adventure games: the story and the puzzles.
The story is interesting, it involves time travel and the end of the world, which in and of itself, is quite interesting. Certainly so because your character appears to be the cause of it. However, the pacing of the story is abysmal. There are I believe 10 chapters in the game, and in the first the story is set up, and you spend about 8 chapters approaching the point where something is most likely going to be explained. I say most likely, because I couldn't be bothered to finish it. Furthermore, the dialogue... is cringy. It isn't really acted well - that is to be expected from a game like this so it isn't exactly a complaint - and it is just not written well. But that could be subjective,
If the story isn't what you come for, you shouldn't come for the puzzles either. The puzzles are quite easy and do not really challenge you in a satisfying way. Once you have completed one of them, you do not feel accomplishment, but more of a feeling of relief that you have progressed a bit more towards the ending.
All in all, I certainly can not recommend it at full price, but on sale for an euro or so you might get some enjoyment out of it. Although, I have to admit, that buying it for 90 cents or so wasn't particularly worth it either. Because i could not be bothered to finish it.

There is nothing special(graphics and sounds are okay), the story does not stand out either. But it still works if you want a short break and use your brain a little bit.
At this price(in a sale), you have nothing to lose.

The Silent Age
The game itself is one rather large interactive interesting story, with simple puzzles. The plot may be banal a bit, but it is able to surprise you and keep you in the intrigue till the end. The game has it's own style, which allows you not to quit the game during the first hour. It's very good game for the most boring evening, because it can change it and brighten up your evening.
If you like interesting stories, constantly looking for something new in movies and books - this game is perfect for you, that's your choise. It's unhurried, not stretched too much and at the same time absolutely stable on low-budget PC. It's one of the indie projects that really deserves it's place on Steam!
