Game Modes
The core of The Culling is an online 16-player battle royale, played solo or in teams of two. Matches last approximately 20 minutes, with deadly poison gas slowly constricting the arena in the final stages. The winning player (or team) is the last left alive.
The new, fast-paced Lightning Round mode pits 8 contestants against each other in a smaller arena with a 10-minute timer, where everyone has immediate access to some of the most powerful weapons in the game.

With no respawning on death, you have to make every action count. Play too cautiously and you won’t be prepared for the final clash at the end of the match, too aggressively and you might not make it past the first few minutes. We leave the balance, and the killing, up to you.

This game absolutely needs to be revived... This game was amazing in it's heyday. It did everything so right, and we didn't even know it at the time because we had nothing to compare it to. It was the epitome of the FPS BR genre. If this game were to release today in the exact state it was in when released, it would do amazing. If it released today, there would be no other competitor. There is no other BR like this. If someone able to purchase the rights is reading this, do us all a favor and re-release this game so we have a fantastic addition to the genre, and can continue making great memories on this crazy ass gameshow game.

When this game was available it was such an awesoem and very fun game. The mechanics all worked well and it was a very raw experiene, meaning you had to know what you were doing during combat. Which made the game fun to learn and engage in combat. I miss this game. If they ever bring it back for a short time, I know me and a few buddies will be here for the entire time. The Culling is Awesome!!!

Once a great game, the very best of the battle royal genre in fact, ruined by rapid fire, completely directionless, untested, poorly designed changes that no one asked for. Three attempts to revive it with even worse models based on poorly cloning pub-g, predictably, failed horribly. A lesson in how to shoot one's self in the foot, and how NOT to let early success get to one's head.

I wish this game would come back. Personally, I had always enjoyed this game and occasionally I hop on just to play a couple offline matches or some survival mode by myself, even though I'm wasting my time because the bots are incredibly easy to fight against and only use crafted weapons, not to mention I'll probably never be able to face off against a real person in this game again. Still, though; I feel like some re-release and re-branding would do this game some good, and it would also help if they would listen to the fanbase. Nobody's going to read this comment, but, I kinda just wanted to make this post because I love this game, and I hope that, maybe one day, I'll be able to play it again.

A true pioneer at the height of the Battle Royal genre. It's an absolute shame they threw it all away due to the disastrous damage rework. This game had and still has a ton of potential. Would like to see a re-release and re-branding similar to what Rocket League went through.

i only recommend this game as if this review was written a few months after release.

It was apromising game when it came out. But I don't have a clue of what the devs were smoking, because right now it stands as one of the biggest online game disasters of all time.

I still remeber the brass knuckles strategy, good times.

So it was good back then, now - not at all.

It was a lot of fun, then the developers released an update that damaged optimization to the point that 75% of players couldn't play it any more & it took them over a month to fix this issue, by that time the game had died

Later the game was overhauled a bit with new content & better optimization, but they also took away a lot of features that made the game enjoyable & replaced them with unfun & unrewarding mechanics instead

They do understand this is a mp game right? How the f*** are they going to fill up a lobby? Steamcharts tells me they have a peak of 9 players. dont fall for this shit, go play apex or fortnite or whatever else. Just dont spend your money here!

Ever get really good at a video game and play your heart out on it, obtaining over a hundred wins and having a blast only for it to be ruined as quickly as it became popular. Screw Xaviant, I miss this game so damn much.

This game used to be so fun to play with my friends when it wasn't dead. It was actually good and then they updated it to where it didn't feel like the same game anymore. After the loss of players, they released a joke of a game known as The Culling 2 which was a blatant attempt to copy H1Z1 and failed miserably at that cash grab. If this game (the one i'm writing this review of) ever goes back to being purchasable on steam, got a decent player base, and was rolled back to when it first started (before the updates) i'd actually consider playing it again.

I miss this game. Good times with old friends. I remember this coming out and it was such a different kind of BR from H1Z1 which was pretty much it at the time. It was a true masterpiece. RIP I'll always have the memories I guess.

This game was the best battle royale game out there. I just wish it was marketed better.

If/when they re-release it, they need servers in NA/EU and OCE on launch and they need to market it properly.
